Where do I begin.... Read good reviews on TripAdvisor and thought I would give it a go with the missus when we were up in Lincoln - more fool me. Boy was that a mistake ! Small place but staff seemed overwhelmed with about 16 covers (including outside). Had to wait 10 minutes to get the detritus from the precious diners removed and then breakfast arrived. Copious quantities however not great quality - beans watery, sausages bland, bacon okay but generally not great. Tea was like dishwater - no flavour or depth. One redeeming feature was the toast - lovely big slices of bloomer bread toasted beautifully - thank God I had mine with no butter, the missus had some rancid looking bright yellow spread and didn't touch hers. No jam available !!! All in all not good.

Close to the Bailgate, not far from the Bronze Pig and rear Lincoln Castle Gate, opposite the Lincolnshire Agricultural Museum, on Burton Road junction before the Castle roundabout. Staff friendly and down to earth, seemingly linked to the Plough Boy pub next door. Food cooked fresh to order. Seating inside and out. Good value, a range of omelettes, small medium and large breakfasts with a variety of options, extras if required, such as bubble and squeak. This place has a steady trade of takeout orders as well as returning customers and locals, as well as passing tourists. If you are hungry, want a decent nosh but without Bailgate prices, this is the ideal place to set yourself up for the day 👍☺️

I’ll start by saying the customer service was a disgrace. From man and women, almost waiting 15 minutes to take our order and another 10 minutes to get an orange juice and a tea, a tea that came with no sugar after previously asking for it and no spoon to stir, greeted by a man with as much character and service as my left toe. Ordered the breakfast wrap which sounded great, it came in a cardboard box wrapped in tin foil…. If I wanted a delivery I would of stayed at home. The wrap was so cold the penguins would of refused it and the cold mushrooms tasted like dead tadpoles. Such a shame because I was really looking forward to a good breakfast.

My sister and I came across this adorable little cafe whilst travelling home from the east coast to Nottingham. We only came across it when we googled ‘places to eat nearby’, We were both so pleased we found this little haven. Wonderful greeting by the owner, who was a really happy and cheerful guy. We then met his partner and she was just as lovely. When the food arrived we were surprised how much was on the plates to say how reasonable the prices were. Thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful. As there was only my sister and I in that early, we had great conversations with the owners who offered their assistance if we needed to go anywhere else. On leaving, we were asked if we liked carrot cake (it happens to be my sister.s favourite) so she said that she did and the next minute, she was handed a piece to try “on our way home”. It really was lovely cake too. Have now got this cafe saved in my sat nav favourites and will definitely be returning as soon as it is possible. Give it a try, you wont be disappointed.

As soon as I walked into the cafe I got a cheery “morning” from the owner in the kitchen. I was pleased to see a veggie breakfast on the menu and the woman who served me was very helpful as she brought the packet of hash browns which confirmed they were suitable for vegans. Leaving out the eggs I was asked if I would like extra of one of the other ingredients so I opted for an additional hash brown. A decent mug of coffee was served before the breakfast arrived, consisting of hash browns, mushrooms, beans and tomatoes with toast on the side. It was very tasty and it was great to have fresh mushrooms as many other city cafes serve the tinned variety which I dislike. It was very reasonably priced as all the items were inclusive of the price of £4.50. From the floor to the tables, chairs, place mats and coasters, the cafe was very clean and presentable and the owners were welcoming and friendly.

We both had the pork which was very tasty and all the food was very hot . I had the hungry mans breakfast, still a great breakfast and good quality though a few changes since the last time. The thick bacon was excellent, I don't know who had supplied it but it was the best we'd had in a very long time, thick cut, well cooked, it really did set the breakfast apart from anywhere else. The only change made I wasn't as keen on was they had switched from Lincolnshire to Irish recipe sausages. They were excellent quality, but still not as good as the Lincolnshire sausages previously used. I'm not sure if it's due to price, suppliers, or customer requests. Oddly a number of breakfasts in Newquay Cornwall use Lincolnshire sausages, Lincolnshire seems to have become one of the few places they don't offer them. So it might be an idea to either switch back or offer a choice. The only other minor thing was the plumb tomatoes had left a thin pool of liquid on the bottom of the plate, it would have been nicer if they were cooked down into a slightly thicker sauce, though that's more of my taste if anything and not a major point.Comes with a drink and they make a great cup of tea.Overall excellent, I don't get to go often at a weekend so this us always a great treat. Keep up the great work.

After having a lovely day out at the Lincolnshire Life Museum, Ellis Mill, Lincoln Castle and the Cathedral we came across The Sizzling Griddle to have our lunch. Although the size of the restaurant is relatively small we managed to find somewhere to sit because we had missed the rush hour and to be fair it was about 2pm when we decided to eat. Me and my four children ordered the Sunday Roast which may I add was very very tasteful. There was a selection of meat to choose from. We all chose the beef, which may I had, simply melted in my mouth. The vegetables were fresh and there was plenty of food. I did say I thought the sizes were rather large especially for the children but how can I complain for having too much. My husband chose to have a Triple burger and chips which was so big he couldn't manage to eat it all. There were a selection of delicious puddings and ice-creams. The total cost for six of us was just under £23! And that included our drinks! The member of staff which took our order was very polite and chatty which I felt made it even more homely and friendly. The Sizzling Griddle offers a delivery service for people who are not able to get out and people can also bring in their own plates to have their roast put on. What a wonderful place and we will definitely be returning in the near future.

Once again I am stumped by Ricks excellent cooking and Sues quick humour.2 Sunday dinners, with sweet, 2 to take home bottomless coffee or tea. Last week we had Sunday dinner delivered at no extra cost. No nonsense value for money.

We used to live in Lincoln, and recently went back with our three children. The guy that took our order was friendly and accomodating (extra plate for our young daughter, moving furniture, parking the buggy). He suggested the milkshake for the kids, which they loved. We ordered breakfasts which arrived quickly. They were tasty, hot and filling. We will definitely be back, and would recommend a visit.

Once again a fantastic meal here this time large filled Yorkshire pudding (sausage and chips in mine with gravy) delicious even if the owner thinks its odd to ask for sausage and chips as a filling but as usual happy to oblige and such a happy atmosphere definitely got to be my favourite little cafe. . .I'll be back xx

Having sampled the excellent breakfast on a previous visit, we decided to give the Sunday lunch a try. WOW!!! The meal was to die for!! I had the roast beef and my friends had the pork. The meat was melt in the mouth, the rest of the veg cooked to my taste. The prices are extremely reasonable and the staff were very friendly and helpful and we will definitely be making return visits.

I found the breakfast to be extremely good value for money, normally when I go for a fry up, something is always wrong, the eggs not runny or the sausage is rubbish, but everything was top notch, we didn't even get charged for our orange juices! My girlfriend and I will definitely be back (we even got a loyalty card!)

This is a great café that is right in the centre of Lincolns cultural quarter. Really tasty top notch food sold at amazing prices. I can't fault the full English breakfast (and I class myself as a connoisseur of this particular dish) which comes in various sizes depending how hungry you are. Best way to start the day! They also have a whole lot more meals to enjoy there. I had the sausage and mash with onion gravy one lunch time and it made my day; it was delicious! The staff are incredibly friendly and highly efficient. I highly recommend this café if your in the area.

We enjoyed another three course lunch at Sessions. We began with a cocktail each, a Negroni and a Espresso Martini, both of which we excellent. The starter we chose, a mousse from Lincolnshire blue
