Had Sunday lunch here today and was very dissatisfied, the parsnips weren’t prepared properly as they were very woody they should have removed the centre part of it, the potatoes were under cooked as they were hard to cut and the gravy was gloopy so all in all won’t be returning…

Amy the landlady is the most personable warm landlady I have ever met. We were staying in the cottage attached to the pub but tonight was the first night I went to the pub. Wish I’d come here earlier in the week. If you go to Bridgnorth and DONT have something here, you’ve truly missed out. If you have FOMO, get yourself down here. Sam from Hastings

We were out for the day on Saturday so on the way home we were looking for a nice place to eat lunch. The Six ashes is an olde English country pub very picturesque. Loads of free parking and a nice patio front beer garden. The bar is quite nice a little tired staff was polite and attentive, the beer we ordered was very good however toward the end of the drink I became aware that the glass was a little unclean! We ordered another that was equally as nice along with some bar food. Fish and chips for me and Cajun chicken burger and chips for my partner. When the food came we were a bit underwhelmed my fish was an Iceland basic cod in some kind of batter the chips were excellent though the fish was not what I would expect from a pub restaurant. The burger was inedible, plane white dry bun and a piece of dry chicken placed inside with some kind of dressing on, the base of the bun was wet! I wouldn’t give it to my dog to be honest, the chips were as good as mine but the salad looked old. To say we were dissatisfied would under state it, a member of the kitchen staff came out to ask what was wrong I said look at that !! She said well it was fresh today! We paid left the food and made our way out . We would go there for a beer but NOT to eat!!!

I drive past the Six Ashes everyday on my commute from Bridgnorth to Birmingham for the past 7 yearsand I have often wondered what it was like. Today we finally decided to go and it definitely did not disappoint. We ordered the vegetarian Sunday Dinners and a jacket potato. The Potato was huge with a great salad, the vegetarian mains were fantastic, a Mediterranean vegetable Wellington with vegetables and roast potatoes. Very well priced too, we will definitely be returning, I would've taken a picture of my dinner but by the time I thought about it, it was gone 😁

What a great country pub this is. A warm welcome was given to us by Amy and all the locals, although, our dog (who’s not small.!) was more interesting to everyone and allowed to join us for drinks, he loved the attention. Great chat and a roaring fire - what more could one ask for. We stayed in No2 Ash Cottage behind the pub - very clean and really well appointed, every amenity you could want for is supplied. Lots of dog walks out of the door and then a quick beer in the pub early evening - it could have become a regular diary entry, sad to leave. Thanks for everything Amy

Out for a drive to find somewhere to eat and came across this lovely looking pub with lots of signs outside claiming good food etc. Pulled in and parked up. Only to be told when inside that we don’t do food on a Monday in a tone that suggested that I should have known! The place looked great but don’t stop here on a Monday. Just a thought, maybe move your signs or put one up that informs your potential customers of when you do actually serve food.

Popped in to meet a friend on good Friday afternoon, was pleased to see dogs were welcome as I had my lab pup with me. Only had a couple of swift pints but both were spot on and refreshing on a warm day. Great lady behind the bar, only thing that was a slight let down was the group of ‘boy racers’ on the car park who sat there for over an hour revving engines. And could easily be intimidating to other customers. Other than that great boozer

The food was divine, it took pub grub to a whole new level and the staff went above and beyond to make sure our needs were met. Not only were the staff extremely friendly and full of menu knowledge, the pub dog was also a sweetheart. What more could you ask for: great food, great hostess, great atmosphere and the added bonus of a pooch!

Having visited this pub a few years ago and had a great meal there thought it would be good to revisit, when we arrived found out it had been taken over by new owners, after ordering out meal, found the starter to be over cooked and hard it not great, I ordered a traditional pub fish and chips, which was supposed to be 12oz it probably was whith the 7oz if hard batter attrached, when I complained about the fish was told the starter would be taken off the bill, that was not the point, the chef who I presume was the owner never came over to see us but was too busy on her phone at the bar, the warning signs should have been ringing with how empty the car park was, definitely will not be back, in this day and age of so many pubs closing I’d expect a little better service, some owners were not meant to be landlords it seems .

I know this pub from days of old, and its a well known landmark for this area. I remember it from a lad with the fiberglass boot in the garden which formed part of the play area. It used to be absolutely buzzing. So with this in mind I am slightly biast towards the establishment. That said its quite a bit off the mark of what it used to be, easily rectified mind. We found the place generally tired, dirty walls and glasses which put us off from the get go. It is nice to have dog friendly areas in a country pub but not particularly great when you're eating. I'm nit really going to say much more as I really want this place to do well, but I think some more effort is required in areas concerning quality for this to happen.

Small pub, nicely maintained with a beer garden, lunchtime food time extends until 5pm on Sundays. This is good as another nearby pub, in Enville, stops serving in the daytime soon after 2 pm. Plenty of character inside, in good weather it’s a very pleasant setting to eat out, just remember that there is a dog and chickens which roam, so shut the gate and watch where you are walking ‘just in case’. Food menu is very acceptable with snacks or more substantial meals and we have tried both in past visits. Salad accompanies baguettes and is always freshly made and crispy. Some of the chairs outside were stained with bird droppings, and there was ‘old’ dog mess on the grass area, not a lot but it is a bit off putting if you wish to sit there and we would have expected it to be cleared. Despite this we would recommend The Six Ashes Inn based on half a dozen visits in the past twelve months.

We were looking for a dog friendly pub where mine and my brother's family could eat out and take our dogs. Telephoned in advance and they were really friendly on the phone.Went to the pub and although it was obviously more of a locals pub it didn't have that uncomfortable feeling you sometimes get when strangers walk in. Ordered food, they even bought drinks to the table, great service. The food was good too, but for the decor, location, and type of pub I thought that the food was overpriced. Don't get me wrong though, I thoroughly enjoyed the mixed grill (my dog did too.) No complaints on the food whatsoever, just the price.

The Owain Glyndwr Society used the pub as a base for the unveiling of a new noticeboard - which is next to the pub's beer garden. It was a wet weather day and so everyone was happy that the speeches were given inside next to the log fire. A large number of those attending had enjoyable meals and the unveiling of the noticeboard was toasted with a range of beverages. The pub lies on the border between Staffordshire and Shropshire - but is also on an ancient border between England and Wales which has links to the stories of Merlin and Owain Glyndwr.

This place had mostly good reviews for food, so we visited for a late lunch. Once we had managed to get in the door, past the dog that comes running and barking at the door every time someone comes in (avoid if you are scared of dogs), we were given different information. It was Sunday, but we didn’t want a traditional Sunday lunch. The info on internet says they do normal menu on a Sunday. The lady on the bar said normal menu applied. So we studied the menu and chose what we wanted. Then the lady on the bar told us “oh, you can now only have Sunday lunch menu”. Consequently we left and had an amazing meal elsewhere. Won’t be back.

Booked this for Sunday lunch for my sons birthday, what a huge disappointment. On arrival the pub was empty, which should have set alarm bells ringing, at 2.30 on a Sunday it should have been bustling. No smell of Sunday roast to welcome you, very tired and dated with paint peeling off the walls, the land ladies washing on an airer on the patio out to the garden is not a good selling point. We should of turned around and found another place to eat, but we didn't and that was a really big mistake. When our roasts arrived the plate was swimming in gravy and some indescribable white sauce and what looked like a pancake and four large roast potatoes that were neither crisp or brown. I had requested mint sauce for my lamb roast and this arrived in a small kilner jar with the rubber seal hanging off and the metal fastening rusty. Another plate of veg arrived but as there was no room on the plate to put anything else it was hardly touched. No taste to any of the good can't believe we have just paid nearly £45 for such dire food. Would not recommend this pub to anyone and will definitely never go back

We visited the pub restaurant early on a Sunday afternoon, and just wanted a bar snack. The menu was varied and interesting, and we chose a jacket potato with tuna mayo, and a Baguette with prawns and Mary Rose sauce. They were both good value and tasty. There was a welcoming fire at one end of the pub, and plenty of seating areas, with a separate restaurant . The atmosphere was welcoming, and it proved to be very popular. If visiting on a summers day there are plenty of outdoor tables and seating if required. The garden area is enclosed, so it is safe for children and dogs. The house dog Brock , is popular, and will retrieve anything thrown for him! , so definitely a dog friendly pub.We will definitely visit again, and sample the main menu.It was well worth a visit, especially as we came across it by chance. Stopped here for lunch on the way back from Birmingham. Lovely quaint pub with large open fire, pub dog and chickens. Menu was quite good value: with lunch deals for £5 and under or something little bit more extravagant for a a couple pounds more. Surprisingly, we were the only ones there on a Thursday, so please stop by and give it a try - you won't be disappointed!

Stopped here at lunchtime today with a friend, for the first time in a little while. Very, very good value menu: I had a decent size baguette with proper slices of beef (i.e. not packet stuff) and my friend the lasagne - both dishes came with a good sized portion of crispy salad, not just the odd leaf like one gets in some places. Everything is phenomenally well-priced, even the drinks. Factor in nice, country pub decor and a friendly, well-behaved pub dog and it's a winner. 2 ciders (my tipple of choice) and a range of beers and lagers and you won't be left wanting for much. Sadly, we were the only people in...so, don't pass The Six Ashes by, you'll be missing out! We will definitely be back.

Dropped in on a whim after a visit to Ironbridge. We were pleasantly surprised at the welcome we received and the quality of the home cooked meal we had. Excellent quality with home cooked chips and freshley cooked burgers with no scrimping on the cheese and bacon and gammon and eggs with two free range eggs. We will be returning

Visited with a friend for lunch, but as a coeliac tried to phone first to see if they could accommodate me with gluten free. No reply after numerous calls, so went on spec. Bar staff had no knowledge of gluten free, so he had to keep asking the chef & coming back to me. Little understanding of gluten free, as said I could have steak and chips, but had to consult the chef again when I inquired if the oil was also used to fry fish with gluten containing batter. Came back again, no I couldn't have the chips. I made a mental note that if I'd not questioned this, I'd have been ill for the next few days, due to cross contamination. Had a fiery chilli & rice to play safe. This was good, but was spoilt by the cold coffee that was served up afterwards. When I asked for hot coffee, it took another 10 minutes to arrive, but then had to ask for milk to go with it, which took another 10 minutes. May go back to see if today was just an 'off day' for the staff, but will likely try elsewhere.

I am always dubious about ordering pork belly when I am out at restaurants because you can never be sure how fatty the meat will be and how crisp the crackling. I took a chance and was delighted. The huge piece of belly pork was really lean and tender and the crackling which had been removed and cooked separately was just perfect. All the vegetables were fresh and all in all it was a lovely, tasty and filling meal. We will definitely be returning, hopefully on one of their 2 for 1 or grill nights which are also seem to be great value.

We called here as the first pub had a wedding on. The landlady was very hospitable and accommodated my dietary needs. I was able to order a jacket potato with prawns and salad and she offered to put the marie rose sauce in a separate dish so that I could just have a bit rather than it all being mixed up. My partner had a ploughmans which he enjoyed but did say all it missed was a pickled onion! Good lunchtime prices for food. The beer was excellent my partner informed me. We sat outside in a big beer garden in the sun and next to some chickens. All in all a pleasant afternoon out There appeared to be a restaurant inside and I saw offers for buy one get one free on Monday nights.

This pub used to be packed every lunch time and evening but a couple of poor tenants made trade drop off. After a few attempts to bring it back to its former self I was apprehensive about how it would be now under the new owners. It was clean. There where 5 of us and we all ordered of the Lunch Time/light bite menu. The service was good and we all enjoyed the food. So I would recommend it if your passing and want a meal in pleasant surroundings.we ate in the bar but there is a separate restaurant .

We had not been to this pub/restaurant for a couple of years. What we did not know was that it had changed hands. It is now run & owned by a young couple. They were very welcoming and friendly. The menu was quite extensive, with plenty of offers on it. I decided to go for the specials board and chose baked trout with seasonal vegetables. You rarely see trout on the menu these days, salmon seems to have taken over from it. It was very tasty and well cooked, probably locally caught. My partner had Steak pie, the pastry was really flaky and the meat just dropped to pieces. All in all a truly wonderful meal. We will not leave it too long before we go again

This time one quite close to home. About 25 of us descended on the Six Ashes for lunch on a Tuesday at mid day. They had been warned so not too much of a shock for them. The Pub is clean but a little dated. Good for you that like the traditional venue with not a lot of frills. I fell foul of the system by being overcharged for the drinks but quickly put right when I complained. There was a large selection of cheaper meals and snacks available and a limited specials board. our table of four opted for the main menue. It was quite expensive but for quality I dont mind paying. The service was quite quick and we were all eating within 20 minutes or so. Three of us opted for the 14 ounce gammon and the fourth a ham with potatoes and parsley sauce. The meals were acceptable but not memorable. We were lucky with beautiful sunshine and finished the visit off with a sit in the gardens before heading home. Not the worst we have had but could do better.

Just returned home from lunch at The Six Ashes. Chips were luke warm, soup was luke warm and half a sandwich. Poor value for money, unappetising presentation, sulky response to food being sent back as not fit to eat. Mean portions - half a small bowl of soup, half a round of sandwiches, 10 chips each approximately. If they knew to expect the Vintage Car visitors for lunch, they should have ensured more staff were working this lunchtime. Bringing in family members who admit to customers they have been called in at last minute and "don't know what we're doing" is poor management. Manager showed her true colours today - rude, arrogant and clearly unable to cope in a busy environment.

We came across this pub on the way back from a bike ride on bank holiday and after reading some of the other reviews on trip advisor we got the impression we were in for a treat. This was not the case, it was very crowded around the bar and hard to even squeeze through to get a drink. There were a lot of empty glasses left around on all of the tables. We ordered food, the starter was nice, creamy garlic mushrooms (my favourite), for mains I had the scampi and my parter had cod and chips. Its fair to say my scampi was one of the worst pub meals I have eaten, the chips were burnt, not just the edges, the whole chip tasted burnt, and the scampi was burnt and chewy, it really was awful, and I have had a bad stomach since. The menu looked good and reasonable prices, perhaps the regular chef was on holiday. The women's toilet was a mess with paper towels everywhere, perhaps because there is only bins in the toilet cubicles not by the sink. We both agreed we won't be returning.

Dropped in on spec and very pleased we did. Sat in the bar area which was quite cosy. Have to say it was a little chilly at first. I ordered the steak and Guiness pie - came with thick cut crispy chips and veg. The steak was so tender, it fell apart as soon as you touched it. Extremely tasty too. OH had rump steak which was very tender and tasty, albeit a bit too much on the rare side for him (asked for medium). All in all a nice meal at a very reasonable price. We will return.

Recent visit limited choice on lunchtime menu. Pleased to see the wood burning stove unfortunately, this was the only heating so it felt chilly unless you were seated on top of the fire. The lavatory didn't have any hot water. Went for beef and Guiness pie. NB a pie is a filling between a pastry base and top sealed together not a piece of fluffy puff pastry resting on top of the meat which to be fair was tasty. Chips were good. Overall typical pubfood was hoping for somethig better, especially in view of recent reviews.

Another fine visit to the six ashes. Food is consistently good. Today we both had the bacon and cheese burger with home made chunky chips, dressed salad and freshly battered onion rings. With two and a half pints and 2 soft drinks the price was just under £25 which is excellent value for the quality of the place. The steak dinner and pork belly are brilliant and a friend says the steak and Guinness pie is to die for. Nothing is too much trouble for the owners, and they are always very accommodating of our 7 month old son. Well worth a visit.

Visited on a Monday lunch time and was pleased to find out from a very pleasant member of staff that lunch was still being served at 14:15 hrs.Ordered soup and a sandwich with chips for both me and my partner. Food served promptly and it was very good indeed ; soup was very tasty, chips were best I've ever had and sandwich was excellent and packed full of beef (surprised it was only one round of bread though).Roaring log fire was nice touch and surroundings were very pleasant. The last time I visited when it was under the previous owners there was an annoying fly in the bar and there was another one there today. It did not spoil a very nice lunch but if you could get rid of the problem that would helpful as we would love to come back and try more from the menu.
