wonderful place, our our favorite restaurant ❤️always quality fresh delicious food, and the environment is so cozy, I always feel like I'm back at my grandmother's in the village and eating her food. I recommende if you likes homemade Polish kitchen and cozy homely environment.

I took my wife, daughter, and daughter's boyfriend to The Singing Rooster for a super, happy, memorable lunch early in May 2025. We had travelled all the way down to Penzance from St Mawes specially. I was tired of the usual options of pub or buffet which are the staples of the Cornish lunchtime, and had noted the consistently high online ratings the Rooster was getting and also the fact that, after five years without promotion, glamorous environment or prosperous locale, the business was apparently thriving. After Covid and Brexit that is an obvious and tremendous achievement. The Rooster is unassuming to a fault, and feels like a canteen, but offers a great and unique service - Polish cuisine done really well. I had wanted to try the pierlogi but they are labour-intensive and only available, it transpired, in the evenings. Instead I had the meaty bigos, and my wife had the beetroot tart and our daughter had the vegan, non-dairy bigos. We had a pink prosecco. The Rooster describes itself as a cafe, perhaps because it is not huge and is not plush, but it is very comfortable, and unlike other reviewers I never wanted piped music or anything like that - it was great to be able to hear the kitchen at work and to talk to Tomasz and each other without difficulty. Home-made food and several drinks for four came to less than three figures. Atmosphere-wise the wooden floor cried out for chunky wooden furniture and the prosecco cried out for tall glasses, but I am not cavilling - I would dearly love to return to the Rooster at night and have the pierlogi and other things too, and I know that we soon will. Recommended.

The food was top notch, absolutely delicious home-style Polish cuisine 👌🏽 everything was made from scratch 😋 The service was also excellent but the atmosphere was awkwardly quiet. It would be good if they played a bit of background music to make the diners feel more at ease.

I like this quirky place. It makes a change from the usual same old options. Good tasty Polish food.

Independent restaurant with absolutely superb food - which we’ve not stopped talking about since. Now planning to try to recreate the Bigos (sauerkraut and smoked sausage stew). Swift, friendly and informed service. Great wine, cheesecake and caters to all dietary requirements. It’s a shame we don’t live closer but will definitely be making a trip back. Highly recommend. Simply a wonderful experience. Tomas is a fantastic host and more than happy to explain each dish on the menu, both ingredients and methods if you are interested. The Singing Rooster consistently serves the best of Polish food with desserts that can't be resisted. The French red wine is excellent - I'm so pleased this restaurant is in my home town! Oh, and it's very good value.

Just had a fantastic lunch at the Singing Rooster top o Causewayhead with friends. Great host, and beautiful fresh food and wine. Really recommend especially for winter lunchtimes. Get up there and support your local restaurants if you can. Extremely good value too...

What a gem of a place! Delicious, authentic, home-cooked Polish food enjoyed in lovely surroundings with attentive staff. So many vegan and vegetarian options; we had the vegan bigos, lazanki, pierogi and mushroom stroganoff, which all came with a lovely fresh salad, including two types of sauerkraut. The deserts and coffee were also fantastic. We went twice during our stay in Cornwall as the food was so fresh and homely. Thoroughly enjoyed it and thoroughly recommend it- wish we lived closer so we could visit regularly!

I booked dinner for a Saturday night, and I was glad that I did because there were several people who needed to be turned away. It's a small place, which makes it rather quaint. I felt that we received excellent attention while we dined. I enjoyed the pierogi plate which was quite delicious. If you enjoy Polish cuisine, this is the place for you!

Amazing last minute decision to have lunch here . 7 of us and all love proper food ! Service was faultless and speedy. Homemade tasty hot lunches - we had lazinki , Klopsy and Bigos ( or something !) Can’t recommend more highly . Will definitely come back .

Not messing about in here. Pierogi great, as good a Pork Schnitzel as Ive ever tasted. Nice bigos, good goulash, beetroot soup was delicious. Polish beer. Just a properly good meal and the dude that is serving is a good egg.

It’s a lovely cafe, the food is lovely. The only problem I have is that the man that served us wasn’t very welcoming. Me and my friend needed somewhere to sit for an hour or so and when we walked in we were glared at and when we went to sit down we were told that we couldn’t (when there was clear available tables). When we explained we would only be here for an hour, we managed to get a seat but his attitude continued towards us yet with other customers he was happy and cheery. My friend and I were the only British people in the cafe so I don’t know if it was to do with that or if he was having a bad day but nonetheless it is a great environment, we just weren’t made to feel that welcome.

The restaurant had a nice home-y feel. The owner, Thomas, was very welcoming and clearly very passionate about the food. The portions were generous and we finished everything. We originally went for dinner but were so charmed that we ended up stopping by again for lunch the next day. Both the meat and vegetarian options were amazing. Would gladly come again on our next visit to Penzance!

We always make a point to visit the Singing Rooster whenever we’re in Penzance or the surrounding area. Everything is delicious, I can recommend the goulash, vegetable soups, beetroot carpaccio, bigos, stuffed cabbage, pork knuckle, schnitzel.. pretty much anything we’ve ever ordered. Potatoes/salads that come with some of the dishes are lovely. We end our meal with a cherry vodka liqueur.

Delicious vegan Polish pancakes stuffed in meat free ragout and vegan Lanzanki with Forest mushrooms plus flavoursome tea.

Lovely food, great table service and super dog friendly. We really enjoyed our lunch here.

We have been looking for a nice restaurant for us and kids while on holidays in Cornwall and I found the Singing Rooster. The food was delicious, full of flavours and fair portions. Even kids finished their meal and said they loved their food. The service was great and the atmosphere lovely. I recommend it a 100%!

Incredible food at great prices, great loyalty scheme, we will be very happy to return! Our meals were excellent, they have very good vegetarian options and all the sides were also very flavourful.

In the last year of living very close to this place, I have eaten there only three times. However, I have turned up many more times but sent away. At 1:50 and 2pm the kitchen is closed. I have been sent away as a solo diner because the last table is ‘reserved’ without a sign at 13:45. Maybe they just don’t welcome people who are on their own. Time to give up trying to support this local business. Sigh.

I walked a mile in the rain to eat here. I can say without a minute of hesitation I would walk 5 miles in a snowstorm to eat a meal such as this. Everything from the tea to the fresh bread was just right. Not a single spice overpowering, everything in perfect balance. Truly one of the greatest meals of my life and by far the best food I've been served in England. I walked in angry after a sleepless night on a train and walked home feeling like I could fight a bear. A perfect meal.

Very unpleasant experience with an abusive owner. Had to leave and sadly will never return. Shook up by his controlling, aggressive and unkind nature. *edit:And despite the gas-lighting response to my review, denying and trying to say I am mistaken by the venue (classic) I am certain it is this cafe, which refused even politeness. Clearly hates people and very controlling. Avoid at all costs.*

The best restaurant in Cornwall... is actually Polish ! The portions were very satisfying and the food was delicious. At this place, I discovered a polish cuisine with which I wasn't too familiar. From now on, I will definitely renew the experience. For these reasons, I strongly recommend this restaurant and give him the best score.

Such a lovely little Polish cafe with great vegan options. The stew was absolutely delicious and it felt completely authentic. Such a friendly owner and made us feel so welcome.

Het eten was uitzonderlijk goed! Sinds tijden niet zo lekker gegeten. Een goede sfeer! De stew zowel vegan als met vlees waren beide geweldig. De sfeer was erg goed en persoonlijk! Zeker aan te raden als je naar penzance komt! A must!!!!

Our first visit today and most definitely won't be the last! Food was fantastic, as was the service. Everything has that homemade taste but with a professional touch! Just gone back to Cornwall after a few months and nothing at the Singing Rooster has changed, still the one place everyone needs to experience, either that or simply miss out on a great eating experience!

I called today and spoke to a gentleman and I told him I would like to sell coffee and chocolate to the United States. He sounded a little bit grumpy and said he wasn't interested.. I'm still going to email Molly and see if she has some advice for me. . I hope he wasn't serious otherwise everything I read about your beautiful singing rooster would mean that he's not singing today. Oh no please say it isn't so. I will order some coffee today... If I may. I left a singing message on your recorder when I called first this morning.

Great food and friendly atmosphere!!

My GF and I went here for dinner on a Saturday night. We had vegetable soup, pork rilettes, golabki and bigos, all of which was perfect (particularly the bigos). We chatted to the owner / chef for a while whilst drinking some cherry vodka - super nice guy who was telling us how to make his recipes. Atmosphere was lovely and relaxed. Please go try the menu and keep these guys in business - they deserve it.

Very cozy place with friendly owners. Food is tasty, homemade, decent portions - very good quality to the price. Vegetarian options available (as polish cuisine is mostly meaty). Top quality cakes - delicious, not too sweet, loaded with fruits! We glad we've found it :)

Vegan and vegetarian quality homemade food

I had a big expectation reading all reviews about place. Maybe English people who have never tried proper prepared Polish cuisines would rate it high but starting form very passe look, than 3 flies flying around, no water served before meal, finish on very burned Polish pasta with sourcrout where there was no pasta and half burned, to undercooked choppes and dumplings very watery and seems to be fried in very low temperature oil, very tasteless and mild, to finish on paying over 59 pound for 3 meals, where only salad was tasty, I would not recommend this place as the food was simply not edible. Normally I would make compliment and not paid a penny for it, to every Polish person please avoid this place.

Food was delicious - had the very tasty soup and a piece of apple and plum cake (both vegan). Service was great. A VERY dog friendly venue - a bowl of water brought out straight away with the very amiable owner having to mop most of it up 5 mins later after my dog managed to step in it. #theshame Nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend.

Lovely restaurant with a homely atmosphere, friendly staff and a roast pork that was delicious and almost melts in the mouth. Strongly recommend the chocolate cake too!

Having called lots of restaurants that sold food we know we opted for food we don't know at the singing rooster and experienced a freshness and variety even writing this I want to go back for more. The menu sounded ok but the food was way above expectation. Beetroot carpachio who knew well now I do it's delicate and divine. The owner makes the food which is generational recipes yet still as fresh today as I guess it's always been..

Tasty lunch of bigos followed by meringue with raspberries, and loose-leaf teas. Delighted to have found this café in Penzance. Not a 5-star experience because we were sat between two shower curtains 😂 but this created a cosy-if-weird covid-safe space. Recommended! ⭐

Dlugo zastanawialam sie nad wystawieniem oceny, szczegolnie, ze oceniam rodakow. Wraz z rodzina cieszylismy sie na obiad w polskiej restauracji, niestety nadzieja na dobry posilek byla plonna. Jesli ktokolwiek ma pojecie o gotowaniu i pysznej polskiej kuchni, bedzie wiedzial, ze jedzenie w The Singing Rooster to niewypal. Dwie gwiazdki daje za wzglednie mila obsluge i dobra herbate mango. I na tym koncza sie pozytywy. Jedzenie jest jalowe, nieswieze, odgrzewane. Ceny sa zawyzone w stosunku do innych dobrych lokali, ktore sa na tej samej ulicy, a srednio o 40% tansze. Ciasta sa podstawowe i bez smaku. Anglicy, ktorzy nie znaja smaku naszego tradycyjnego jedzenia, beda to miejsce chwalic. Co do Polakow - mysle, ze sie zawioda. Do pozytywow zaliczam skromne i schludne wnetrze, ale niestety odradzam wizyte w tym miejscu. Powstrzymam sie przed wyrazeniem zdania w jezyku angielskim, zeby nie odstraszyc klientow...

A really good place to eat in Penzance. Very friendly and attentive staff, great food, and even better desserts! Their pavlova cake with strawberries is legendary. Would recommend and come again!
