We went to the Short and Sweet company for lunch on a Monday. It was quiet when we arrived but got busier but they do take away too! We had an excellent home made black bean and bacon soup with sourbread and a pot of tea. The bill was approximately £15. We would happily return if we are in the area.

Very friendly staff. The young lady who took our order was able to assure us regarding mutliple food intolerances that one of the party had. The food was served quickly and was just what we wanted. We were only passing through but if we ever return to Wimborne we whall definitely visit. Well done.

Price on menus and board ourside £2.25, price charged £2.50. Pointed this out...told they needed to get the menus updated rather than honouring the advertised price. Ok, not a lot of money but you wonder if they do that to everyone.

My wife and myself went into this place today and the food we had was so lovely and fresh, we both had milkshakes and i was amazed at the amount of different flavours, the coffee flavour milkshake was the best I have ever had, the 2 girls who work there we found so friendly and the service was brilliant. When we go to wimborne again we will definitely go back in there and i recommend this place to everyone.

I went to Short and Sweet recently and was very disappointed. The service was friendly but made me feel like customers are a pain and keep asking annoying questions. Also when they were low on ice (on a hot day), and the reason for buying the smoothies, they restricted ice (per person) rather than trying to buy more. One of our smoothies was really horrible I actually threw it in the bin.

My family usually enjoy our time at the short and sweet, as we like to support local. The owner is a lovely lovely lady who is always polite, friendly, warm and welcoming. The coffee and food is normally very nice. However there’s a blonde girl who works there who is not very pleasant! When we arrive to see that the blonde girl is working my heart always sinks. She is abrupt and often rude! We have given her the benefit of the doubt, as people have off days, but she is always the same! We went the other day for breakfast and the owner was not there, it was the blonde girl. We were given menus and left to choose. Upon ordering we asked for the granola, and she grunted at us that it was no longer on the menu (that would have been helpful to know before we were left to look at the menus) We also ordered toast with Marmite. She bought us the toast and then handed me a jar of marmite saying “I know it’s not professional but it’s too difficult to get any out the jar, just help yourself.’ I asked what one of the cakes was in the cabinet and a reply was barked over. Her attitude is like customers are an inconvenience for her, rather than where her wages come from! It’s like she’d rather be anywhere else than at work! She is unfriendly, unapproachable and unprofessional. I will certainly avoid going in there again if I see her working on that day. We will go back if the owner is working though.

I have been to this cafe before and really rated it, we had great food and the staff were lovely however Myself and my partner were really disappointed this time. The staff were really unprofessional , the young lady in the kitchen was shouting at other members of staff and when our food came out which was supposed to be two slices of sourdough with avocado and hummus with peppers it was a slice and a half cut up, all soggy with hardly any of the above on top. We had already heard the young lady in the kitchen saying they had run out of bread and to be honest when we mentioned it at the point of paying the staff couldn't have cared less. It is a real shame as we won't be going back there again especially when you try and approach them as a business before writing a review and they don't bother to acknowledge!

Having lived in this town for several years, I discovered this amazing independent little coffee shop today for the first time. The coffee is amazing and the staff are so lovely. I could only get takeaway due to current covid restrictions but I wish I could have stayed and chatted for longer. They have options to cater for vegans and the atmosphere is warm and friendly. They have an option to buy a coffee for a stranger which I thought was a great idea. I'll definitely be back soon.

The Short &Sweet Company delivers great service, pricing and quality coffee and food,I had a cappuccino and the home made fresh chicken bacon and avocado sandwich which came with a salad, my wife had fruit smoothy and the bacon Brie and caramelized sandwich. The food was freshly made and delicious with a just out of the garden small salad. They also have a great range of milkshakes. This is a very well run locally owned cafe that caters for all, there is also a small library of books if you just want a coffee or tea and a read

This is a quirky cafe offering a lot more than smoothies. Food was tasty and freshly made with vegetarian options, plus there is a good range of toys/books to keep little ones happy. The only disappointing part of the experience was the service. Very young, inexperienced staff who seemed quite uncomfortable talking to customers. Children's food came out last (not such a great idea with a hangry toddler) and plates weren't cleared afterwards, despite the staff coming over to bring us a second round of drinks after we'd finished eating. With a little more refinement, it could be a cracking little place.

I live nearby & visited yesterday. I think it was managed by staff rather than the owners as the service was appalling. We were completely ignored whilst standing at the counter waiting to order. One girl was preparing an order but the other was wiping around sides behind counter whilst watching me waiting! I eventually ordered 2 flat whites & 1 latte. When they arrived they were all cold. Interestingly they all looked the same. They were heated up but on tasting I was very disappointed. Tasted like warm, frothy, milky water (not sure how they managed to make it so tasteless)but I didn’t want to make another complaint. The staff obviously have no barista experience.....a flat white should have a thin layer of microfoam with the crema layer coming through. Please do not advertise that these coffees are sold if they can’t make them. I was so disappointed & surprised when I then read the positive Tripadvisor reviews. I decided to post this review as I think the owners should be aware of what is going on in their absence....sorry. I won’t be returning.

This must be the best cafe in Wimborne. Really friendly people, great food and coffee. Dog friendly. Not a large establishment but really cosy place to meet a couple of friends. You can sit outside, just two tables. No traffic as it is down a side street. everything is made to order, no big chair plastic food. If you live in or around Wimborne as I do its a must visit. Even treats for the dog. Don't go there as it will get busy and I will not get a seat.

My daughter and I visited here and I was really surprised in terms of value for money, quality of produce, presentation, and thevariety of healthy choices. My daughter is 10 and there was enough for her to choose from, and of course she had the option to choose from the huge shake\desertmenu.I am more of a savoury person, so with regards to that aspect of the menu...the team here put a lot of thought and care into the dishes they produce. It is clear that they understand how to mix food, seasoning, textures and the output could rival any well respected restaurant. To be sure though, I think you can only get a lunch here, but I’d highly recommend it as a break from shopping and, not to be put off by first impressions which might lead you to think it’s all about shakes/sweets

The staff were very friendly and welcoming when we arrived, which we have not really experienced elsewhere in Wimborne to the same extent. The coffee was great and the sourdough lunch was good - the basil and tomato option would only be improved with mozarella instead of cream spread cheese, but I suppose that pushes costs up! Good stuff, aside from the uncomfy chairs!

Now that the ghastly start to the new year is past, one hopes, the spring sunshine lured us from our winter bunker to see what was new in Wimborne. It seemed a good idea to enjoy the sunshine so we (Mrs P) decided we should walk. Its a decent walk to town from Peartree Towers so we were a touch out of puff when we got here. Luckily, we were near our favourite café, so we dropped in to rest our aging & aching limbs.A table in the window, the sun streaming in, coffees in our hands. A real delight and so nice to see it in the sunshine, so bright & refreshing. I'm so bored of this shabby chic look that so many cafes seem to think is appealing. This café is nicely decorated (redecorated every few months I'm told), has a nice view onto Mill Lane (I love a bit of people watching, who doesn't?). But since I've been last, they've added a new all day lunch menu on. I enjoyed the best Sardines on Sourdough since I was a boy. The added touch of lemon zest & cream cheese was delicious. I offered some to Mrs P but she was enjoying her Banana & Honey Sourdough too much and she wasn't inclined to share.Upon talking to Sweet, she told me that the menu changes every couple of days as the ingredients are fresh. We'll be back for some soon. And, on a side note, still the best coffee in Wimborne.

I called in here after Christmas, as I'd had such a warm welcome the last time I was here and the smoothies were excellent and reasonably priced and found that they had closed for a few days over the holidays - no doubt for the proprietors to have a rest themselves, after working hard for months. So, I called along Mill Lane with some trepidation this morning (in case Short & Sweet was still closed) but found it to be open again and trading normally and busily. They greeted me by name - very unusual in this Day and Age - and welcomed me as warmly as before. This time, having tried and approved the smoothies, I tried a shake, which was equally delicious. The only problem was having to choose between so many different flavours.Another great time spent here and I cannot recommend it strongly enough. If you're in Wimborne, go to Mill Lane and discover Short & Sweet for yourself. If you're not in Wimborne - go there and experience this gem of a place!

Having just moved into the area, Mrs P & I took a walk around the town and were both delighted to find some new shops (Mrs P) & places to sit (Me) had opened since we were here last April, when we bought the house.Mrs P found a couple of shops she liked on Mill Lane so as she browsed the racks, I wandered off just as it started to rain and so I nipped in to the nearest place and I’m glad I did. I spoke to the young man who served me ( I assume he is the ‘short’ part of the team) and his partner (the ‘sweet’ one) about their new cafe. Nice couple, chatty & clearly very interested in what they do.Whilst Sweet explained to me about the coffee and the teas and how the whole thing had come about, Short busied himself with making milkshakes for the numerous families that came in. I must say it was the best coffee I’ve had in a long time, and I got 10% off because it was raining. Something called Rainy Day Discount which seems a risky idea with the inclement British weather, but most welcome. I enjoyed my coffee with a gluten free cake (two, actually) and thought that Mrs P would like a tea (shopping makes her thirsty, but sadly there was no gin on the menu), so I sent a quick text to her to pop over when she’d emptied the bank account. An hour and two newspapers later, she turned up. No bags, but still thirsty so she had a pot of Earl Grey loose leaf tea which she thoroughly enjoyed. We both remarked that the grandchildren would love it here and we shall be bringing them in when they are here for their summer hols. I can see Tarquin, Eliza & Harriet taking full advantage of us when they come down. So, thanks to Mrs P, I have found a little gem and, as anyone who has been involved in diamond mining (as I was during the seventies after I left the army), knows that they are rare indeed.

4 went for dinner, decided to share small plates as they all looked delicious. Ordered 12 small plates between us which was plenty. The ribs and beef dishes were my favourite and so tender. Prawns were huge and the springrolls particularly tasty as were the thai fishcakes. I would definately go again. 4 beers, 1 coke lge glass of wine and 12 dishes came to £177 which included £16 service charge which was optional. The girls that served us were lovely and very helpful when choosing our dishes so really didn't mind the £4 each service charge. Atmosphere was pumping for a Wednesday night which speaks volumes and the interior design tasteful & elegant.
