This is a fine local pub with a lovely location, but that's all. Someone really should update this page, as they haven't done food for a long time and there were a few hungry folk left wanting when we were there.

Popped in for a quick drink before our travels and was glad we did. Nice traditional pub. Landlady was a bit quite at first but when she got talking..... This was a great thing! Very informative and we would not have realised about the Peaky blinders and Whisky galore location if it wasn't for her!! Would loved to have stayed for another but didn't have the time!

We were in Portsoy for two nights and went in here for a drink. The bar isn’t pretentious, it’s nothing special. However the service was great, friendly and how it should be. We did encounter a local who probably had one too many but again nothing unpleasant. A well run wee pub. Hopefully we can go back.

We stayed nearby in Cornhill and came out for a New Year’s Day beach walk. Incredible scenery but far too cold to enjoy it with a family. We found the Shore Inn open, which was a godsend and the landlady could not have been more welcoming and hospitable, she brought a heater to our table to warm us up and warm Ribena for the kids, lollipops and games to keep them amused. We enjoyed beer, and crisps in a true Scottish pub with warm friendly hospitality on a cold January day, who could ask for more. Happy new year!!

The port itself is beautiful - after a mooch around we fancied a pint and something to eat. Elaine and her husband own this unique and cosy pup, they welcomed us straight away and we got chatting to a couple of locals sipping our drinks and warming ourselves by the wood burner. The food soon Ari iced which was great - the beer battered catch of the day will not disappoint. We highly recommended this pub and it's wonderful hosts!

The Shore Inn is a dark, traditional pub, overlooking the harbour in Portsoy. It advertises outside that it has traditional, cask conditioned ales. The pub staff are friendly, the locals are friendly but the language used by some of the locals leaves a lot to be desired. Be prepared for this. On the food front however not all was good. I ordered French Onion soup and what I received was chicken stock with chunks of uncooked onions. The fish and chips on the other hand were very good. My wife had the chicken & leek pie which she said was average, too much cream in the sauce. I didn't see the point of the red paper tablecloth either, it started shredding almost immediately when drinks glasses were placed on it. Do away with it and just have the bare tables and placemats.

The Shore Inn is...still the Shore Inn. We wouldn't want it to lose its unique atmosphere, although a bit of a makeover to keep up with the standard of the cuisine might be something to think about. Service loses a point because we had to go to the bar for our drinks, and we wondered why the waitress couldn't have done that for us as part of the table service. People all lovely. Had heard through friends that The Shore Inn had a new chef so suggested a family meal out. It was a fair trek to get there for some of us but we were not disappointed! Set in the gorgeous harbour of the ancient fishing town of Portsoy, The Shore Inn had a cozy older world feel. The restaurant itself was tiny (or, shall we say, intimate?) but out party of 8 fitted in fine with a few other smaller tables of diners. The menu was interesting - not your typical throw-back-from-the-70's fayre offered at most other eateries out side of the Oil Capital. A bit posher than your standard pub grub. I had Irn Bru and Black Pepper tempura prawns (amazing!) followed by a salmon/fill pastry creation which was simply devine, and the hubby had a trio of deep fried cheeses and pork fillet, black pudding and chestnut marsala sauce (he's still raving about it now!). The rest of the family where equally delighted with their selections. The portion sizes where fantastic - not tiny little Amuse Buche size Michelin star types, but nothing went to waste either.... What one person couldn't manage was soon gobbled up by another! Then came Dessert: I opted for a cheeseboard to share, hubby had tiramisu.... Home made and delicious! The cheeseboard was simply immense! 6 or so cheeses, huge selection of crackers, grapes, celery. If I was being picky I would have liked a Quince jelly or maybe a chutney to go with it but even without it was hugely impressive. The service was quick, and friendly, and we weren't left for ages between courses. Neither where we endlessly hassled to ask 'if everything is OK for you?' (Another bug-bear of mine when eating out). Overall was very very satisfied with out meal and visit as a whole and cannot wait to go again.

The Shore Inn is situated in the historic Harbour area of Portsoy, the inside looks as though it hasn't,t changed for decades and is truly charming. It is a bit shabby butt that all lends to it's charm. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the area and the food is basic but good and very reasonably priced. I would suggest you go for the fish and chips and stick to a medium portion as even that is large. Fish is all fresh bought from the fish shop on the harbour. On this occasion we sat inside looking out to the harbour from our table but in the summer you can sample their Real Ale outside on the Harbour Wall, watching for Dolphins and seals out to sea.

The outside seating and views would be lovely in summer but it was a cold day so we sat inside and had a drink and a snack which were both ok.but nothing special. The staff seemed a bit unfriendly and only interested in chatting to the locals. The bar itself was old style and traditional with lots of wood some of which could do with a dust.Overall it was intersting but could have been much better. They seem to be missing an opportunity here. It felt like an end of season.

My friends and I booked in for a meal after winning this as a prize in the pub quiz! The meals we ordered were fabulously tasty and value for money. We were served by Scott and Rebecca who were wonderfully attentive. I cannot fault the Shore Inn for it's friendly staff and excellent value for money menu.

A typical harbour side pub that is well worth visiting. Maybe the best pub in Portsoy! Parking is free and easy here out of season!

We were staying at a campsite in Portsoy and decided to go for a drink while walking round the town one afternoon. We were going to eat there in the evening, but decided against due to the reception we got.We walked in, and as there was no-one in asked if it was open. The barmaid said yes, but not for food. My husband ordered a pint of bitter and a red wine. The bitter tasted like vinegar so he took it back, only to be told in an unfriendly manner that it was only put on at the weekend, but she did reluctantly change it. My wine was also awful. Needless to say we drank up in a hurry and left. We will never return.

A lot better than my last visit 7 yrs ago but still gives a tired and grubby impression. A very noisy jukebox deafened us. The cook ,clearly not to bothered told us, you order it and i will tell you if i have got it!! I tried a chicken fillet burger. Looked good but the chicken was as dry as a piece of rubberThis place could be so good, location amazing but no one seems interested.Return,i very much doubt it

My wife and I drove north to the sea from Delgati Castle where we were staying to tour the coastline and enjoy remarkably fine weather. We were walking along the sheltered harbor in the fishing village of Portsoy, when we realized it was nearing lunchtime. The sea breeze had piqued our apetites, and we were surprised at how hungry we had grown. Voila! At our very next turn, there across the harbor nestled as picturesque a country eatery as one could imagine. We stepped in and were amazed at the difference between the almost street scene and the bustling trade going within. Apparently most of the traffic in Portsoy is pedestrian. As it trned out there was one waitress and a barmaid on duty, both of whom treated us as if we were their American cousins. They set us up with pints and two orders of fish and chips, which were as good as can be had anyywhere. We spent a very relaxing forty minutes or so, entertained by the jocular comraderie among the other patrons, each of whom appeared to know all of the others. We left sated, refreshed, and generally pumped up by the entire experience. We observed that, although the name "The Shore Inn" was entirely fitting, in their case "Cheers" would have been much more appropriate. Try it, you'll like it!

Was having a family Christmas lunch there were 4 adults and 2 children, we were welcomed in,all proper procedures were adhered to, server asked about allergies before we ordered great but went down hill fast from there 3 of the adults had carvery we were asked what meats we wanted 2 wanted all 3 1 wanted gammon and turkey that was all we were asked. When the meal came she did not know what was on plate.Potatoes, vegetables etc were already on plate not in dishes to take what you wanted (as we were not asked what we wanted) the food was not even look warm and there were very full plates went back, it was not even asked when the server saw the full plates if there was a problem, as this was a Christmas family lunch and £60 we were very disappointed and would think twice about visiting again.

Went in for a quick take away ice cream for me and the kids. There were 2 young girls behind the counter. 1 person was paying for their sit down meal and a mum and push chair were at the ice cream. Seemed to be struggling with Apple Pay and took an age to serve the ice cream. The other staffer was making coffees. A queue started forming and the mum left. Unfortunately I was ignored and the person who just walked on got served. I walked out and got served instantly next door. Not the first time happened in there. I won’t be back

Right next to where we stayed this little cafe was calling out for us to get coffee and cake. The cake offering was very good with lots of choice and the same with the drinks. Both were delicious - however, the service was so slow due to there being one member of staff trying to manage everything with a queue forming outside and orders coming in on an app. There needs to be more people helping.

Stayed here for just 1 night while exploring Balmoral and the local area. Room was lovely with a stunning view over the Loch. Even had time to try the golf which was a nice little course. Found the owners to be nice and friendly. Would stay here again.

Worst chipper I have ever had! Haddock supper and sausage supper for my wife was ordered. We had to throw it out after eating a few mouthfuls. Grease laden and completely tasteless! Same they are so horrible and using the Ashvale branding. The one in town is a much higher standard. I was charged £15 just to throw it in the bin 5 minutes after purchasing. Waste of money and time.
