The Shish Meze Bar - Rickmansworth in Three Rivers

You’ve got to try this restaurant. Authentic Turkish kebabs, wonderful quality meat freshly cooked on the grill and delicious salad. We had the mixed lamb sharing grill - chops, ribs, shish, shawarma, kofte - amazing ! The staff couldn’t have been more efficient and helpful. The chef even made a special mixed kebab in Turkish bread for my 10 year old - he loved it. What a rare find. Will definitely be back.

We ordered mix sharing platter for two. Service was great. Meat was cooked well and tasted amazing however the price didn’t reflect the price (majority of meet was chicken wings). We ended up spending £95 for just two of us. Comparing other meze bars it’s normally around £60-£70 (we always order the same food whenever we’re eating at Turkish restaurants) And we always end up taking some food home with us as it’s just impossible to finish it all. We just felt a little bit ripped off.

Never getting a take-away from here again or even sitting in the restaurant unfortunately and I hate writing bad reviews for businesses, as I want them all to do well. Paid almost £100 for the largest platter as had a couple of family round. Was poor… bread was not fresh, rice tasted old, chips were reheated and dark oil looking, red meat was under-seasoned but over-salted, chicken was half-decent only. Was embarrassing for the guests and one of our girls has a bad stomach the day after (can’t confirm, likely food poisoning from the old rice and she’s knocked out in bed)… my wife and I also have wobbly stomachs right now… and when you compare the standard versus what you get at Mangal Express in Rickmansworth or Lara’s in Chalfont, I can’t give these guys any business again, especially when they didn’t take care despite us ordering the biggest platter they had. Good bye to The Shish Meze Bar for us and I hope they sort their standards out.

The staff were very attentive. The food was excellent! I ordered a whole sea bass, and it was amazing. My husband ordered the chicken shish, and he thoroughly enjoyed it.

Great food. I had a take-away so can't comment on eating in but my take-away shish was excellent.

Ordered from here on Deliveroo and the portion sizes are tiny for how expensive it is. Won't be ordering from here again, not worth it.

Forced to pay a heavy service charge and when asked to take it off, was told “do you want me to pay for their wages?” Would not go back was disrespected

The food and service is amazing but BEWARE, staff have been instructed by the owner to give a receipt without itemized costing on to hide the 12.5% service charge to trick customers in to paying a service charge that doesn’t go to the staff themselves. Even though this has now been made illegal for owners to keep service charge, all the staff that have served us told us that the owner keeps the service charge to make up for increasing costs for keeping the business such as rent costs, staff costs, gas and electricity. This has been the case since it has been open and we have returned, however we won’t be returning now because the owner clearly has no regard for the recently changed law!

I go to a lot of Turkish restaurants this one was ok, you don’t get anything thrown in like a lot of other restaurants I go to, just bread. Other Turkish restaurants I’ve been to offer free Turkish tea, rice pudding and hummus. Plus they add service charge.

i hereby alert all that these peoples charge extra illegal money from coustomers by the name of SERVICE CHARGE.which is optional when i objected that i wont be paying the service charge the waiter that i serverd you thats why we are chatging you. i told that you should have written self service we would be rather happy to help ourselfs.when the arguement countinuied i told that i will call police and get it sorted oupon which the manager accepeted and asked me.to pay only the rates as printed on the menu card. please be alerted by such type of faurdsters thankyou.

The food was good; however, the waiter really need to learn manners and more importantly laws!!! The “manager” argued with me on the service charge that I declined to pay. I showed him the HMRC website but his Government has issued some new rule in relation to this where the discretionary service charge has now become a compulsion. His menu mentioned in bold that the service charge is optional but according to him it was an old one. Was on the verge of calling the cops on this man. Please be advised and know your rights before falling prey to such people. Absolutely horrendous experience.

Unexpectedly great restaurant! The food was tasty, fresh and prompt in arrival. We had a fantastic waiter who was very helpful and advised us well regarding portion sizes and choices. Restaurant is larger than it looks with clean toilets. Rightly priced food. Will definitely be back.

Popped in for lunch and the adana kebab was freshly cooked to order, great tasting and full of flavour. The falafels and pide were both also great. Highly recommended!

We had the mix shish platter for two and there was lots of food! Everything was cooked to perfection and tasted delicious, the salad was fresh and the meat cooked beautifully. The baklava is the best I have ever had, they cook it fresh every day and it shows. They also had decaf coffee! Staff were friendly, fun and genuine. This is now on my favourites list. Highly recommend.

I ordered on Deliveroo and got the order wrong. I rang them up and they amended my order no questions asked. Love it.

The food here is truly authentic. The customer service, very attentive and hospitality just as you would experience in Turkiye. There was food here for both my husband and children to enjoy

Excellent food, full of flavour and generous portions. Excellent service, not intrusive but smooth and professional. Great prices, we had a huge sharing platter and felt it was very good value for money. The turkish wine was really delicious too. It's not a posh restaurant, really unassuming from the outside and basic decor inside, but we loved it. We will go back for sure.

I ordered almost 90 pound worth of food from this place and I am so disappointed with the overall experience. The food tasted dry and blank especially the kebabs. And the rice wasn’t cooked very well either. The portion was entirely too small and pricey especially for the taste. I wish I could have not gone ahead and ordered the meal because it was honestly waste of money and food.

Service was excellent. Very personable and engaging waiter. Good selection for children and our daughter especially loved the ice cream cone with sprinkles! We also loved the complementary baklava! Can highly recommend!!!!!

Absolutely amazing place for your loved one's

Myself and my team would come here on multiple occasions almost every week to the point the waiter pretty much knew our orders before we were sat down. After many months of eating here the service has changed and something as simple as what was once a complimentary part of the meal you are now expected to pay for flat bread and dips. In addition all meals have become more expensive by more than a reasonable amount. Now your regular customers no longer go. What a shame!

The best Turkish in UK. Been to many many places but nothing is like this one. Everyone is very friendly, food is amazing, service is amazing, the owner treats everyone really like he’s own friends. I come here for over 3 years and it’s always amazing on all aspects.

We had a group of 32 looking for a Christmas dinner, and The Shish were extremely accommodating. The food was, as usual, excellent and the service swift and sure; the value simply unbeatable.

Seriously the best Turkish kebabs I've had outside of Turkey. Service is excellent and they can't do enough for you! Had to ask for a doggy bag as I didn't want to waste what I couldn't eat. Will be going back again soon...

What can I say, first time visit to this place. Was very noisy, music too loud, kids being loud, and people raising their voices to be heard over the music/kids. Ordered our drinks, when they were delivered to our table, the waiter managed to drop them on the table, we were quick to move so none got on us. When my meal arrived I was horrified to received a bowl with cubed bread and chicken with a huge amount of greek yoghurt slapped on the top, a quartered tomato and a chunk of light green pepper. This is meant to be a meal, no veg/salad or rice with it, like a child had made it. I couldn't eat it with that amount of yoghurt and butter on. My wife's meal was good. Upon paying the bill, they tried to charge me for someone else's meals 3 times, until I pointed out that we only had the 2 dishes a bad tasting wine and a coke. The couple who were seated next to us had the same dish and were very confused to its make up too. As I said first time here, will be my last aswell, overpriced, weird food presentation and tried to rob me when paying.

We have ordered platters from here at least once a month over the past couple of years and haven’t been disappointed!

Lovely staff and restaurant - it has won many awards for their food. Food was absolutely stunning and delicious, we did not wait long. My lamb chops were *chefs kiss*. We finished our meals with a yummy turkish tea, turkish delight and baklava trio. What a finish to our meal!

I have eaten lunch here on several occasions. The food and service are absolutely superb. On the last two occasions we had the express set lunch. Portions were generous. The food quality was superb. My lamb Shish was divine. I had it on the previous occasion and it was superb. It was again yesterday. The salad was plentiful and good. The chips were really good. The humous and warm pitta bread was also excellent. The young girl in our party who always comes with us was treated like a princess and they gave her a free ice cream. This is my go to Turkish restaurant. You would be hard pressed to find better.

I was recommended to visit this place by a friend and I was absolutely blown away by the food, atmosphere and the service. Our waiter was lovely and tended to our every need. The food was absolutely delicious and my friend and I were pleasantly surprised by the fresh, complementary bread. I would recommend it to anyone and I will be sure to return very soon. 10/10

We just picked up a takeaway, unfortunately was disappointed with what we received.. mixed grill was lacking the variety one presumes would be in a mixed grill. Disappointed no breads were given to us this time. Just not what we were expecting.

Crank up the price merchants without informing you. Food was alright. Was persuaded to sit in and got a £5 charge for the pleasure.

Went for mothers days meal with wife and kids. Waited nearly an hour to wait for our food as they forgot our order (it wasn’t even that busy) Kids had school the next day so had to rush food so we can get home on time. Food was good but ruined by waiting time and also lost my appetite by then. Not a lot of meat considering the platter alone was £46.

Without a doubt the best food on the whole money hill parade. Went for a family dinner (+8 people including kids) and the service and food were incredible. Its now our go to place for family dinners and a takeaway. The owner and all staff (especially Mustafa) always look after us! Highly recommended! Make sure you get the shish chicken platter! Thanks so much for always looking after is guys!

If I could give zero stars I would. Despite the food being nice, it's no consolation for the terrible attitude of the owner. We had been once before and bread was complimentary. On this occasion, we received billing for it at which point I questioned the charge - this was not on the menu, nor was it explained to us it was chargeable. Once questioned with the waiter, I asked to speak to the owner for further clarification. As it was clarified he proceeded to tell me: "I own half of this parade and we were the first people to complain ever"; "my business partner is Gujurati"; "You only ordered one chicken kebab to share, tap water, and bread". All of which are completely irrelevant to the point I was making. He became noticeably aggressive and audibly louder for a restaurant that was completely empty on a Sunday evening, which was mildly amusing. We were made to feel like second class citizens which is definitely not what you would expect from the service industry. Disgraceful owner and will never go to eat there again.

Lovely food and service, portions were very big definitely where is says “serves 2” is easily 2.5/3. Mustafa was an excellent waiter this evening, good banter but also very attentive and helpful with his advice on the menu.

Went for an early dinner with the family. Really nice atmosphere and service was great and the restaurant wasn't too busy the time we went around 4pm. Food was delicious and we all enjoyed our meals. Chicken Beyti was delicious. Staff were very attentive. Child friendly!

EXCELLENT QUALITY FOOD AND SERVICE

The food was amazing and fresh. The service was great. There was ten adults and at least ten children so you can imagine how loud our group was. The staff dealt with us professionally courteously and they were great with the kids. The portions were a good size and we had so much left over. The taste of the fresh food was on point. Will definitely recommend and return in the near future.

Fairly good food and very good service. I loved the warm fluffy bread and the dipping sauces, a good start for the meal. We ordered Yoghurt chicken beyti from the house special and lamb ribs & chops. Whilst the chicken beyti was absolutely delicious, the lamb ribs & chops were a bit of a disappointment. There was very little meat on the bones and they tasted dry. Overall a good meal in a quiet, spacious and tidy restaurant. The food was reasonably priced. Attentive service. Will come back again if we next want kebabs.

Popped in for some lunch at the weekend - super service, definitely the best Meze I have had. Really liked the Turkish tea to compliment the flavours of the lamb and chicken kebabs. Excellent flatbread especially with the dips. Service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. My brother, who doesn't normally like too much spice, was eating roasted chilli pepper and ordered extra dips to take home - so all in all a great experience. For sure I will bring my children here. If you can't park out front you might find some spaces in the side streets. Their restaurant is about 1 hour from me - it is for sure worth the drive such is the quality of their restaurant. Oh and they accepted credit card too.

Absolutely gutted ! Hated the food if you are a true fan of turkish food don't go here ! The lamb had a bad smell i cant eat lamb if there is slightest of smell in the meat .. even the chicken tasted like lamb maybe because it was cooked in fat . We left the food literally untouched …. They weren't even kind enough to let us pay half of the bill or something in compensation ..NEVER GOING BACK ! On a split side the ambience was good but food very pricey . Bad experience !
