A very nice little pub that’s not been long open since refurbishment m. A very nice interior with a warm friendly atmosphere. Staff and customers very friendly and made you feel welcome. A good selection of drinks etc available if you manage to get served ! One barman was busy pouring drinks , the other sorting glasses out. We were about to leave when the barman sorting glasses was told to serve . I can only think he is new to this post & it was just a blip.

A welcoming (and surprisingly busy for a random Monday) bar. Clean and inviting (none of this "you're in my seat" nonsense) with a fab cocktail menu. Bar staff with an almost psychic and impressive awareness of what was needed. The Cocktail of the Month (Blueberry Muffin) was one of the nicest cocktails I've ever had!

I didnt eat in here, I had a quick pint whilst my partner queued for fish and chips. And, by jingo, I am glad I did! A great pub full of life and plenty of drinks to choose from stretching from real ales to all types of whisky and gins. The golf was on the tv, and I was ready to settle in for the session. But I got pulled out by the Mrs. and I had to eat dinner.

Best bar in the area - no doubt about that. The bar staff were faultless, atmosphere was brilliant and the interior of the bar is great - so bright and modern, but with plenty of character and nods to the ship in the name. Excellent selection of beers on draught (Cruzcampo is now my favourite lager) and the verdita shot to go with the tequila was a unique treat! One note to the owners - get new photos of the interior on Google Maps and any other sites you can be found! The bar looked like a nice wee find as it was, but the renovation has taken the place to a new level!

This pub reminded me of the real life Crows Nest bar from the film The perfect storm, which i have also visited. I had high expectations, was looking forward to visiting, but was somewhat disappointed. The young staff were friendly enough but were clearly bored, it was dead for a bank holiday weekend and the interior doesnt seem sure what sort of pub it wants to be. The Shipyard was a good pint tho. Sorry but prefered The Haven up the road.

In these strange times as life slowly gets back to normal, we took advantage of a brief sunny period to enjoy a drink, outside, of course, sitting at a table on the pavement outside this charming pub. The barmaid was extremely friendly & welcoming. The selection of draft beers & ales was limited, but then they had been open for little more than a week after a 4 month lockdown ( it felt like 4 years!). It was just a joy to walk into a pub & buy a beer! One alcohol can be consumed inside this will be a nice place to go when it’s raining too.

Of all the bars in Anstruther, the Ship Inn is the one that surprised me most re the changes that the Coronavirus has caused. In our last two visits to Anstruther, the Ship was the most popular pub in town, with room at a premium. The difference is obviously caused by the design of the pub, which is pretty narrow, so in the area at the front of the pub that I have always considered the social heart of the bar, there is now just an empty space - simply because they can’t fit tables in. As such, the pub seems to be totally devoid of atmosphere. All was not lost however as we had a couple of beers and a pleasant chat with the bar lady on duty, who hails from Kelso, and is a lovely lass.

We had hoped for a nice bar lunch but the menu was very short and overpriced. We did choose something which arrived a good 20 minutes later and was tasty, but not worth the price. We asked the waiter when he brought the lunch for 2 buttered rolls and were told very curtly to order them at the bar! Another wait! We ordered them, 15 minutes later no rolls. Went to the bar to remind them, waited a further 10 minutes, still no rolls. The place is so disorganised with a hopeless ordering system. Even paying involved another wait at the busy bar.We will not return to The Ship Inn as there are plenty of better (and less stressful) places in the area.We believe the 19th Hole in Elie belongs to the same owners and have always had a good experience there.

Decided to pop in for a quick drink before hitting the Anstruther Fish Bar next door but 1 , stayed for more than 1 , bar maid very helpful with local knowledge of where to go and what to see although she did say isnt a local but was spot on with the Anstruther Fish Bar and the Dreel Tavern a bit of a walk but worth it , locals all friendly , only bad thing about whole night were the 2 dogs tied up at the bar , who did not cause any bother but to big to be in a busy pub at night . Great choice of beers and lagers and great selection of gin and malts , definitely worth a visit , bar looks small but a bright pool room at the back is a welcome surprise.

I asked for a Rose wine they didn’t have any. I then asked for a white wine & soda the soda was flat. I then asked to change the drink as the soda was flat. The bar maid topped up with a new soda but it was still flat as it had been added to first one. When I asked for a fresh one the bar maid said it was a fresh one but it hadn’t as I watched her topping first drink up. Also someone else asked for a Bacardi which they had run out off. Not a good bar or friendly staff

The front bar area in the Ship is quite narrow, so the bar can feel quite crowded with just a few punters at the bar. Don’t let this put you off however, because this is a really good pub with welcoming staff and very good service. This isn’t a gastro bar, although they apparently serve good food. Refreshingly, this is primarily a straightforward pub with ordinary clientele enjoying beer and one another’s company. It’s what a good “local” is all about. Good beer, good service, friendly customers, a bit of friendly banter, and decent music on the jukebox.Spot on in my book.

Used to have good beer but not now. No hot water to wash with but good supply of liquid soap. Usually cold and damp, no welcome, no service. Poor seating, no interest shown in the business. Very popular at times with locals that stand close together but best forgotten. Live music was years ago and the place is so small, more of a publicity campaign with the photo shoot. Many years ago there was a pool table but it was removed to increase seating for lunch tables. Pool is now played in the Royal Hotel, the other pubs didn't have the facility. ☹️

BrewDog: A Hidden Gem for Non-Drinkers. I'm not a drinker (ever, at all!!), but I recently discovered a hidden gem at BrewDog during my visit to Scotland. The chicken in the "Hoppy Meal" was absolutely phenomenal. Crispy, juicy, and perfectly breaded, it was the best chicken I've had in years!! And to my surprise, their beer options were equally impressive. I tried the "Iron Brew" beer as a suggestion from our waitress, Samantha, and and it was like liquid candy!!! I drank the whole thing!! I've never drank a beer before and I'm 31. As an American, finding ranch at this place was a big deal! It's a staple sauce for so many of us, and my friends and I were thrilled to finally find it!! The staff were all great, but Samantha, was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, suggesting the perfect pairing for my meal, and my friends as well. She was so kind and funny and really went over the top for us. If you're looking for a delicious and casual dining experience, BrewDog is a must-visit!
