Northpoint in Fife

I absolutely love this place! The portions are generous, especially considering the price. I am gluten intolerant and there are gluten free substitutes for pancakes and toasties (bread) and for gluten free products they are very good. I had a halloumi chorizo toastie which came with homemade soup, salad and chips-not fries but potato chips/crisps. I also had a mocha which was very good. The soup was very cosy and comforting and my sister had pancakes, beans, bacon, sausage and eggs which were all very good. I really recommend coming here the staff is very friendly. It was crowded because it’s a popular place so we had to wait but not long only 5-10 minutes. They also have delicious cakes, I’ve heard positive things about the carrot cake and the hot chocolate.

Amazing Toasties! This is a cracking wee cafe if you can get a seat, if not wait. It's excellent food, presented well & proper tasty! Good food with lovely staff.

Great food from sweet to savory

Hesitated about eating here ( 'touristy'?) but doubts were absolutely unfounded - bright, comfortable, very clean cafe, it was busy but our group of five was given first-rate, attentive service from an efficient young team, each of whom knew the varied menu well. Realistic prices, good food, generous portions. Would certainly recommend!

Had a nice breakfast in the North Point. Good menu, reasonable prices. Nice atmosphere, all be it a little busy, would recommend it.

NorthPoint Cafe: Emily was such a lovely person and server! She has the kindest affect, as well as the efficiency of dedicated server. What a fabulous combination! Si (sp?) was so courteous and kind when I realized all the toilet paper was gone. I had no tissues on me, nor were there any other paper products in the toilet. Si happened to walk past as I opened the door, and I told him my predicament. He went immediately and got a new roll and handed it to me, promising he’d get it installed after I finished cleaning myself up. MANY thanks for that, Si! I am so grateful !!! The owners should be so proud of their establishment!!! We live in Richmond, VA and ALWAYS make it a point to eat there whenever we are there visiting our PhD student❣️We are vegans and appreciate all the vegan options they offer!!! BRAVA❣️🌱 And if you have to wait, it’s worth it! Have a little walk about to see the beautiful ruins and sea!

This is such a stunning spot to sit down, gaze out the window and enjoy easily one of the best cups in town! The vibe is great, the servers are incredible and the food is too! For those who are vegan, there are also really tasty options to rival the non-vegan ones. I will definitely be going back!

Nice spot, cosy and tasty simple food

This was my wife's favorite meal in all of Scotland. Great food, good portions, very welcoming atmosphere. Couldn't recommend them highly enough.

Of course we were only here for one reason: it was the meeting place of KATE & WILLIAM over 20 years ago ;-)) perfect for students, pleasant price-performance level!

Lovely little cafe, it had a great atmosphere and the food was TASTY! I got the vegan lunch special which was soup, a sandwich and crisps and it was very filling! 😊

One of the dark hair waitress has a bad attitude. Ignore me many times. Happened at 1st Sep 2024. About 1.50pm The rest of the waiters and waitresses are nice.

Small bistro cafe with casual atmosphere. Food is fresh and staff are friendly.

I usually get the soup most of them are pretty good. If you have issues with noise it might be a bit loud for you. Also there is limited seating.

You can eat anything. Have breakfast at any time of day! They have homemade desserts, and dishes of all kinds. Bagel..scrambled eggs...bacon..vegetable soup..salmon...

I had brunch here on Monday and it was great! I had the American brunch, the portion was huge and the pancakes were the fluffiest I've had in a long time! My son had the kids pancakes which he loved. The portions are a great size and great value for money!

Cute cafe with THE BEST cappuccino I have ever had! So cool to spend time in the same cafe as Prince William and Princess Kate!

Delicious brunch served by pleasant staff. We enjoyed a late breakfast in this lovely Cafe. The coffee was 1st Class and pancakes were so fresh. Good value too.

This little cafe just outside the entrance to St. Andrews Castle was good for coffee and cake and was very busy. The man who welcomed us was not that welcoming to be honest but our server was very efficient and friendly. There was a great choice of cakes and our choices were tasty. Prices were on the high side.

If you are around St Andrews and need a place to restore, I highly recommend you to take a sit in this place and try one of their wonderful scones! This cafe has plenty of vegan option too, and many cakes on the list. I enjoyed every second. Also their coffee is quite nice

Great for coffee, tea and snacks. Dropped our mom so we can explore St.Andrew's Cathedral ruins. Walking distance. Very courteous and efficient staff. Good meal. 👍 we have been here before, still all good. Thank you!

We organized at the North Point Coffee the 18th birthday of our daughter, who is studying at the University of St Andrews. It has been a wonderful experience - Jane, Cheryl and the whole team have taken care of everything and prepared an tasty buffet dinner for us all. We definitely recommend the North Point Coffee ! PS: love the carrot cake !

A very nice place for breakfast and soup

Visited on 13.02.24. Had a great experience. Welcoming chatty staff, dog friendly, great selection of cakes and drinks, pancakes were delicious!

Sorry but this was a very poor breakfast and nothing like our previous visits to Northpoint. The worst thing was the language used by staff while speaking to each other. No one really wants to hear the "F" word multiple times while having breakfast. Very poor.

The best cafe around here. Polite and friendly staff. Amazing food. Best leek and potato soup around! Greta selection of cakes too.

Very disappointed today. We came at a busy point and were asked to come back in 10 minutes. We came back exactly 10 minutes later to be told that they had given our table away and none were available. We had a great experience at Bibi’s Cafe though, so not all lost.

Used to be the best spot in St Andrews, now it charges extra for GF food. Totally out of touch. The food is good, don’t get me wrong, there’s not denying it. But in Scotland today it’s very abnormal to charge a fee to customers with diagnosed allergies!

Tomamos café da manhã por lá. O local é pequeno mas muito aconchegante. Fomos muito bem atendidos e o café nos surpreendeu. Estava muito bem servido e amamos o iogurte.

Very nice friendly staff and the food I had was delicious, I had the toasted sandwich with cheese ham and tomato with a side salad and dressing and crisps and a bottle of still water and I must say it was the best toasted sandwich I have ever had, it was on proper thick sliced bread that was so warm and tasty, no wonder they were so busy, if I am ever in St Andrews again I would definitely eat here again.

Good student breakfast and the hot cakes were surprisingly good. I was impressed by the hotcakes not so much with everything else. Scrambled eggs were disgusting.

Had the American brunch. Scrambled eggs were creamy and plate full. Meal was filing and satisfying.

This cafe is a bit busy, the perhaps that's to be expected since it's right on a main road swarmed with foot traffic from both tourists and locals. The food delighted me. Though I did not have the chance to try the cafe's famous scones, I indulged in a warm creamy Southwestern toastie, accompanied by a hearty cup of Earl grey tea. The prices are bit high but not unreasonable considering the location and the tantalising food. An effortless air of class and elegance exudes from this place, as it always does from the best cafes.

Great value, lots of vegan options we had great leek and potato soup x2 Turkey sandwich Herbie cheese sandwich, peppermint tea and latte coffee for under £20. Mostly students getting to know each other, looking to emulate Wills and Kate. A bit noisy, but enjoyable pleasant staff and efficient service.

Gone downhill. This used to be a go to visit when in St Andrews. I assume that it’s under new ownership as haven’t seen the lovely woman who used to be there. Visit started on a bad note. Sat outside & had to pay before getting food…also asking for tip option…why when we hadn’t even had the service? The guy taking the order was unfriendly. Cutlery was placed in a napkin on a dirty table we were at…we asked for the table to be cleaned…again was met with a curt look!! We ordered cappuccino & flat white & like strong coffee but it was weak, tasteless & milky. The milk was dollops of froth & not smooth as it should be…we asked for a change & again the guy was verging in passive aggressive..no apology. Both of us had bacon which was extremely salty. Due to the attitude of the guy we didn’t complain , but won’t be back. It seems the only reason this place is busy is the writing on the window re the meeting of Wills & Kate!

Northpoint was always the go to place for brunch when my daughters were at St Andrews university so we were massively disappointed with our visit last Sunday. The cheese in the vegan toast was oily and swamped by pickle. The jam on my grandson's bagel seemed to cheap and overpoweringly sweet. Our oat flat white coffees were watery and almost undrinkable. Passing the coffee machine on the way to the bathroom, my daughter noticed that they were using Tesco Oat Drink! Why skimp on essential ingredients, it doesn't pay off. Overall this was rather a dismal experience and also, with a bill of almost £25, a very expensive one.

Great location but the whole ‘Wills met Kate here’ schtick has really been the undoing of a previously cherished cafe. Don’t bother unless disinterested, rude service is your thing.

Poppy seed scones! What a rare find. The texture is just right—with crusty shell and crumbly yet moist interior. The lemon zest and flavor is really refreshing and delightful. It’s not too sweet either.

Breakfast was terrible. Typical St Andrews trying to be better than everyone else and failing fast. Never been to a cafe where the only egg option is scrambled. Don't get me wrong, I love scrambled eggs but not microwaved with soft bits and hard bits. My wife had sausages which had also been microwaved as they were roasting in the middle and cooler on the outside. Noticed other tables left most of their food also. Would not recommend.

This is the worst cafe in St Andrews. The staff were rude, the food is very basic and tasteless and when we ordered cake, the size of one of the pieces was tiny. Throughout the lunch the staff paid no attention to customers and were laughing and looking at their phone’s continuously. We won’t be revisiting!

Nice cafe with excellent hot chocolate wit marshmallow, if that is your wish. It is not cosy as it maybe could be, but the crew and the drinks will compensate this. And who would not visit the cafe “where Kate met Wills”.

Very disappointed with this establishment. Food mediocre and staff looked bored and one kept using her phone despite customers freezing with the door blowing open even though she was next to it the customer had to keep getting up to close it. Wouldn't recommend or return.

Very disappointing. Went in for a quick breakfast and were seated thankfully in a corner. Greeter/waitress then dumped 2 napkins with knives on the table after taking our order. No pleasantries, all business. She then returned to her spot by the door and continued whatever she was doing on her mobile phone, blatantly ignoring the fact the door was blowing open continually and freezing the customer opposite who had to keep closing it himself. Breakfast was a scrambled egg roll which was passable for my friend and I had chosen a bacon roll which required the teeth of Shergar to eat!!! Coffee was bog standard hot but tasteless. On leaving we purchased carrot cake (having tried it on a previous visit) and chocolate cake which were lovely but all in all it was £18 for everything and def not worth the money. Service was certainly not with a smile and not a great atmosphere in the place either. Despite the cake we will not be returning here.

Slightly disappointing. I get the sense this place has declined a bit lately. They've also put their prices up a lot and it's not great value for money anymore. The haggis nachos were a fun idea but came out a bit dry. Nonetheless the drinks were nice and the atmosphere was charming. Just not sure its worth the hype and the queue outside for.

Lovely little spot for breakfast and brunch. Nice atmosphere, great cappuccinos and pancakes. We had the Mexican breakfast burritos which were delicious.

Dreadful lunch…..! My friend and I thought we would give this place a go as a change of Cottage Kitchen, we should have stuck with our usual place to have lunch. Whilst the service was quick and fast the lentil soup was terrible - tasted of onions only that clearly had not been cooked properly. My friend ordered a bagel, but rather than having a made up bagel she was given tomatoes, avocado and lettuce on a plate beside a toasted bagel - she had to make it herself. Daylight robbery given the cost. Would not go back - there is plenty other places in town for lunch!

Very much enjoyed this cafe. It was a little loud in terms of music but we were to close to the speaker (and we are getting old!). Food was delicious...with a great fusion of inter/national food! Haggis burritos for example. Would eat there again. Recommended!

Very cosy atmosphere with homey food and accommodating service. Most of the customers seem to be students but we were in St Andrews on a family holiday and have three small children. Nevertheless we felt welcomed and the kitchen was very flexible with food for the kids. We were only in town a few days but ate there twice.

Went for breakfast from a recommendation, very dated inside with wipe clean plastic tablecloths. Needs decorating. I had a sausage sandwich, which wasn't very nice . One of the sausages was definitely reheated as it was really dry. The other 2 weren't. Also, I had some yoghurt and granola, which was OK, but it was a shop bought granola with some sauce on top. Coffee very average. Apparently, the Crown filmed there, so that will attract a crowd because it won't be the food

We visited here for a Saturday brunch and, despite the good reputation, we were so disappointed. It was freezing cold and the door was constantly left open, the waiter was brusque and unhelpful. I asked for a boiled egg and was just flatly refused with no explanation. Had to give my order twice because he didn’t listen the first time, coffee was bitter and slopped in the saucer. Presentation of food was poor and portions were small. It seems as though this place is existing on the William and Kate history and has forgotten about good service and quality of food.

Had a breakfast there with an awesome bagel! The coffee is definitely a recommendation! Whether William met Kate or not, it‘s a nice coffeeshop with great food and remains true to itself!

Visiting St Andrews with my daughter and we popped in , luckily getting a table as it is very busy. The staff are very friendly and service excellent. Coffee and sweet treats all tasty too, will visit again and would highly recommend.

Very expensive breakfast for very poor ingredients , cheep bacon and realy bad sausages , had breakfast the day before round corner at another cafe and ingredients were top class and cooked with a chef ..this place needs to get to a new butchers and a new cook , place and staff very nice though ..

Nice Cafe to catch breakfast. Traditional as well as vegan and vegetarian options.

Had pancakes that were alright but nothing special. Not the most comfortable in terms of seating and tables. Could really do with a refurb but guessing they don’t mind as it’s busy regardless. Cutlery and glassware didn’t feel particularly clean. Broken glass on the floor that was easily visible. Waiter was fine but didn’t seem interested beyond doing the minimum.
