My son rang the ship to see if we could book a table at very short notice for 6 adults and 2 children. We were told they were busy and had a table in the bar if we would like it which we accepted. We arrived within the hour to a very busy clean pub with a positive atmosphere. All the staff were busy but they made time for everyone. 4 of us had the belly pork which was out of this world. It made my day to be served fresh cabbage with my meal. When the food arrived it looked like a piece of art. So much dedication put into the delivery of each meal. Everyone's meals were outstanding. It is without a doubt the best meal I have ever eaten out. Yes we will most certainly be returning. Thank you for our meals.

The food was excellent, with an extensive menu we were worried this would be re heated 'frozen' food. It certainly isn't that, good quality, well presented & very tasty dishes. Unless you are used to big portions (not like American ones) but a good plate full bring your appetite. I had potato skins, Fish & Chips and Bread & butter pudding. The starter was a filled medium sized baked potato, really tasty but quite filling so a generous portions of the other two courses were great but couldn't finish them off myself. But I live in France these days so bigger than we're used to though the in-laws from Grays finished theirs easily. Highly recommended

Arrived for Sunday lunch only to be told they could not find my booking For Nine Thought that was the end but no the manager or owner went into overdrive and managed to get us seated in the bar area which was absolutely fine She could not have been more apologetic or helpful Her husband ( the chef) made a point to speak to me as well which together with good service and lovely food made for a very enjoyable arfternoon I had the beef roast with plenty of tender beef a real good home cooked diner Thanks again for looking arfter us so well

I have just returned home after visiting The Ship pub in East Tilbury for Afternoon Tea, not for the first time and most defiantly not the last, the food is out of this world. The mouth watering choice of fresh made sandwiches and sausage roll, the light crumbly home made scones with jam and cream, of course, and the array of delicious cakes all washed down with tea or coffee are a must. I have never managed to eat everything on the cake stand but the Ship supply boxes to take home left overs. You can also purchase Afternoon Teas to take away. Amazing food at a reasonable price.

Went to a 50th Wedding Anniversary meal, due to a cancellation of another venue this was done very last minute. It was a three course meal for over 30. They already had a birthday party plus visitors in the pub watching football. The food was excellent, staff fantastic well done Paul and Tracey, and all the staff.

Lived here for years but rarely venture in here , I don’t know why as the home cooked food was excellent and well presented and the staff where really friendly and made you feel at home. If your looking for wham bam thank you mam order eat and go within an hour this isn’t for you everything was done at just the right pace giving you to time to chat and drink . The covid regs within the pub and restaurant where spot on and loved the idea of a light and switch outside the loos so only one could go in at a time excellent originality. The only thing is to look past is the decor as although everything is Spick and span it’s a bit dated and could do with brightening up but hey that’s my opinion.

Have eaten at the Pub a few times now since the black old days of lockdown. Social distancing has been carried out to excellent standards and I have not felt threatened in any way. The food is good old bog standard pub staples and I do not mean that in an insulting way. All food is plentiful and piping hot. This is not gourmet food but all hits the spot. Will return.

Decided not to cook so ventured out.Food is a selection of pub type meals cooked with care and plentiful portions.some offers on the purchase of a starter or pudding with a main course during midweekCovid security .Offering dining in the garden and under gazebos, boxes for used plates and glasses to prevent waiting staff reaching over, hand sanitizer and recording contact details.Indoor floors marked to keep distance Maybe some better signs neededfor entrance and exits for those who are not regulars.Only down side there did seem to be regular standing at the bar.

Been a few times since The Ship re-opened. Such a transformation from the old place. It has been tastefully decorated to a very good standard. A warm friendly atmosphere with a wide selection of lagers, beers, ales on draught. All drinks are competitively priced. Not tried the food personally but from what i have seen, it looks tasty. There is also a large beer garden out back for families & is ideal during the summer months. Well done to all involved in bringing this pub back to life.

We booked a table for Sunday lunch to celebrate my mother in laws birthday. Staff were friendly and attentive and food was amazing. My daughter is coeliac so it can sometimes be a concern when eating out, but can eat at the Ship with confidence that they understand her needs. Highly recommend.

First-time visit and won't be the last. This Country pub is located close to a tourist attraction so not far to walk. The service was first class even though it was not busy. We were the only customers eating at first. The beer was good and the food was very good and to crown it off the prices were very reasonable. We will be visiting again.

We were doing the Thames Estuary path walk and had a gloriously good lunch and drinks in this pub on Saturday. We were made to feel welcomes from the moment we arrived, the staff were helpful and the menu was traditional pub fayre done to a very high standard. I had the fish pie and it was gorgeous. We were a big party (7 and a baby) and all the food arrived promptly and looked wonderful. Everyone enjoyed the food and a few of us chose to have dessert despite being full. We were glad we did, the desserts did not disappoint! Their take on apple crumble produced moans of delight, while the lemon meringue pie was delicious. There are good facilities, including a baby changing room, and a lovely looking beer garden.Thoroughly recommend this place.

I visited The Ship pub today for lunch with a friend and they were advertising a curry offer on Fridays so we both decided to have that offer. However when the bill arrived they charged us the full menu price. When I queried this I was told the offer was only on in the evening and I would have been given a different menu. Nowhere in the advertisement was it mentioned that the offer was only valid in the evenings and I took pictures to confirm this. When I said I was unhappy with this the Manager was extremely rude and even suggested that I was just arguing to get a cheap lunch. The only reason for ordering the curry was because of the offer and if it had been pointed out to me that the offer was not valid at lunch times I would have chosen something else. This was my first and will be my last visit to this pub.

Visited the ship pub in east tilbury nov 2018 for a meal after visiting coal house fort and was shocked how expensive the bill was with such poor microwaved pub food. The staff was nice but at the end of the day food is most important the chicken breast was like something out of Iceland for £1 shocking with this the total bill coming to over £60 for 2 adults just 2 courses no alcohol and a 1 year old that had frozen veg in a bag put in microwave for 2 min shocking. With this complaining and receiving nothing British pub I won’t visit again. Thanks for read Lee Essex

Well cooked chicken and beef Sunday roasts. Lovely and hot with separate gravy. The beef was so well cooked it was more like braised beef. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Suggest you book in advance as it is popular with locals.

This is a lovely pub for a midweek meal or Sunday lunch. The food is good quality and well cooked with a varied menu and specials such as two courses for £10 or curry nights. The curry nights are very good value. The food is beautifully presented, especially the desserts. The staff are friendly and helpful and the pub has a lovely atmosphere. There is an outdoor area which is great for families in the summer.

A fantastic family pub, serving home cooked food. The food is excellent, and the staff provide 110% Customer service. One of our party was a vegan, she was hesitate to join us as always a problem with dishes on menus. This was no problem for Paul, the chef, he was great, provided several options, resulting in a very happy lady.
