The Foxhound in Thurrock

I cannot recommend the Foxhound enough. I decided to have my 50th Birthday Drinks in their Function room, quite last minute. From start to finish nothing was too much trouble for them. All the staff were absolutely amazing, and went over and above to make sure i had a lovely night. The buffet was really nice and plentiful. It is such a lovely friendly pub. Thank you Darcy and everyone especially for all your help in making my 50th birthday one to remember.

Great Family Pub! Great atmosphere! Easy place to go with friends and family Children can play while you relax and have a drink with friends. Food has also been good whenever we’ve been. Everyone is friendly! We love coming here!

Had an amazing meal at The Foxhound. Fantastic service from the time we booked. Great atmosphere and great food. Nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely visit again when we are in the area.

We got there about 3.30 and happy to service us. First time in this pub roast dinner choice of beef or pork. My only criticism is my roast potatoes were drowning in gravy. I told the waitress that I would prefer a jug of gravy, she said I'll change it. I said next time we come here for a meal. There will be a next tine because it was lovely and clean the food was good and service.

Nice food & friendly staff in a lovely little village

We held a family celebration in their function room with a buffet and drinks. Everything was perfect, the food was really good and Charlotte and her team were treally helpful and offer a great service.

Good food, service and price Sunday roast

Popped in for a lunchtime snack. Made to feel most welcome. Had the Ploughmans, plenty of ham,cheese,salad.Two small pots of piccalilli and Branston.Two small baguettes. Excellent

Good little local. Friendly, busy when we called in. Basic pub food but served up well.

Been In here twice now with the family. You get treated by proper people who welcome you with a smile. The locals all acknowledge you without sneers or whispers, and you are generally accepted by all.great fun and laughter with the staff can be heard throughout the pub.

Play poker here on Mondays. Great pub, great staff.

Went for a lunchtime meal. Really quick and tasty food. Fair price as well.

What a beautiful little venue to have a small function. I can not fault the staff, they were so attentive and could not do enough for us. The food was beautiful and so delicious and free tea and coffee within the price. We were a party of 22 and all had a beautiful afternoon there. Thank you all so much for helping to make a beautiful baby shower. Georgina

Popped in for a lunch time nibble. Had some tapas off their menu which consists of small dishes. My wife and I picked deep fried mushrooms, chips, mozzarella sticks and some spicy chicken bites. These were done to perfection. Some pub fried food has oil dripping from it, but these were done perfect. When the bowls were emptied they were dry. Would have been pictures but was hungry so tucked straight in. Next time for sure. If you haven't tried the Foxhound yet give it a go. They also do Sunday lunch but would advise booking. Staff are friendly and helpful. Good job we don't live in the village, if you get my drift......

Nice friendly pub with friendly locals and friendly staff. Couldn't really ask for more from this hidden gem.

Pleasant seating area outside with a nice London pride ale. It is also one of the few pubs around here that hasnt raised prices since reopening. Friendly atmosphere inside and out.

I love this country pub. It always has a buzz, a warm welcome, good food & drink and a nice selection of indoor & outdoor seating areas... it's even got a function room for special occasions! I had a Thursday morning breakfast there the other day, superb. It's no surprise at all they have a Food Hygiene Rating of 5. Highly, highly recommended traditional pub.

I held my Birthday drink here with a buffet and we were made to feel so welcome! The drink was good and the buffet was so PLENTIFUL we gave some away to other customers! They deserve to do well as they offer good old hospitality!

Went to the Resteraunt for Sunday dinner ! One of the best Sunday lunches you’ll get anywhere, fantastic friendly and happy staff , no hustle and bustle to get you out when we finished ,nothing to much trouble,will definitely be back bill lock

A PROPER PUB ATMOSPHERE AND VERY CHEERFUL STAFF

Shared the meal with ten friends so I’m good company. I had the roast chicken dinner with ample vegetables ans extras as required I followed up with a splendid ice sundae. Do, overall an excellent meal and super friendly service. Highly recommended.

This is a very friendly pub.The menu is small but adequate. We have had lunch there on two occasions in the last three weeks and look forward to eating there again

We stopped in here for a Sunday Roast whilst out for the day celebrating our 4th anniversary. The pub was full but the staff where brilliant most place's especially on a Sunday would turn you away if they where full not the Foxhound! they manged to squeeze us in and did so with smoothness and professionalism, I'd particularly like to give a mention to one of the waitress who went out of her way to ensure my partner got her desired meal when they where running low. In summary, the food was delicious, the price was reasonable and the staff warm, welcoming and professional even the regulars where very pleasant and friendly if we are ever in the area again we would certainly vist again.

Small pub with friendly staff and good food

Great local pub in beautiful Essex village.

Popped down for lunch last week the hosts could not have been kinder or more appreciative of NHS staff, they offer a discount on what was already great value for money food. The food was fresh and delicious there was a little wait but the standard of the food made this pale into insignificance . Everything was prepared to perfection I wish I had time to stay for coffee and desert. I would highly recommend both the venue and people who are now managing this pub

Clean,good choice of drinks.Even had 2 real ales on.I will be going more often.It's 20 minute walk from A13 bus 100 or 5b right there.Near Orset hospital.

Stopped here for lunch. Was very busy but the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. The meal which we enjoyed at our table in the bar was delicious. Wished we had more time to stay and enjoy a few more pints.

Lovely service and drinks and sandwiches

The food was very good, plenty of choice and the dining area was lovely and clean. The staff were excellent and service prompt.

We had never been here before, but thoroughly enjoyed the food and the service. Our waitress Janine was very friendly and helpful; she is a credit to the pub. The portions are very generous and the prices are not bad at all. We will definitely have to make a return trip! Thankyou!

Celebrated my son’s 18th Birthday here. From the time I called to book the table to the time we left the premises the whole experience was a pleasure. Food was delicious, compliments to the chef Alice and we were served by Georgia who was the ultimate professional. The food was priced very reasonably. We as a family will celebrate lots of future occasions at this restaurant. Can’t wait to try the Sunday lunch. Keep up the good work.

Lovely little place for great meal

This pub is lost in the 1950s and before. There is red carpet and a pink sink basin in the ladies loos. The rest of the place looks like I’ve not been touched for at least 50 years too. Very pleasant bar staff, and didn’t try the food, but then again it was all a little bit scampi and chips kind of menu, and looking at the rest of the place you kind of judge the food on what you can see around you. Needs some financial investment.

A really nice pub with really friendly staff

Today I had to go into Orsett so we arranged to meet for lunch at the Foxhound. I had decided I was going to have an all day breakfast weeks ago so I was really looking forward to it, if it didn’t come up to scratch I would have been so disappointed. We first had a drink in the public bar with my hubby’s mates a bunch of old drunks lol which is not much to look but his friends make up for it because they are lovely. The staff are always lovely too and I can understand why Chas likes going up there most days for lunch time drinks. We then went to the main bar for breakfast, the main bar looked a lot nicer than it did last time I was there as it had been done up. The quality of decorating wasn’t amazing but it looked a lot better than before. As for my breakfast it was outstanding, the sausages were the best flavour not cheap, it had fried bread cooked to perfection, 2 slices of bacon, egg, lovely fresh mushrooms and tomato. I should have photographed it I will next time as there will be a next time lol. Highly recommend this pub for their breakfast

Great food great service great night

Lovely Sunday roast menu, great food, friendly staff with a good atmosphere.

We went there for a meal on Friday and found the quality very poor the peas were hard the fish and chips were very poor, small the beer batter was soggy like some frozen fish in batter. We not recommend it to any anyone. This did not reach the same standard as their Sunday roast. Would never go there again or recommend it to anyone.

Fantastic meal, too full up to finish the meal. Served hot & with a smile. Lovely gestures, fantastic staff. Plentiful & very delicious food. Was recommended and had no idea how great this was. Not cramped & sorry to Whitmore Arms but this is now the preferred option for local cuisine. Till next time x

From food served on cold plates to fresh cream (sweetened) from a spray can to background music being too loud, this restaurant is trying to be something it isn't.Sunday lunch - choice beef, pork or chicken. The chicken was served as a large lump of a breast which was over-cooked and solid.Waitress very nice, efficient and helpful.Can't justify visiting again though.

Recommended by our daughter to go for lunch in newly refurbished restaurant.Very friendly staff good variety of food choices very reasonable prices, we chose homemade Chicken Tikka curry which was delicious.Look forward to coming again.

We popped in on the off chance that we would be able to find a table as we had heard that the restaurant had been refurbished. We were shown downstairs and were surprised to find that the only other diners were two ladies. It did appear cold and souless, even with a few Christmas decorations. However the menu appeared good and the service good and the waitresses very helpful. It was cold and they put the heating on for us. The parsnip soup was delicious but the shepherds pie decidedly average. My husband did enjoy his chicken with noodles stir-fry but it did have a lot of peppers (or chillies) which made him feel unwell afterwards.We will go back to the Foxhound to sample their Sunday lunch, perhaps there will be a few more customers which will improve the ambience.

Lovely lunch! New restaurant looks good

Had lunch here again and was equally disappointed as I was in May 2018. The bar and restaurant have been refurbished, on a low budget in my opinion. The decor is very cold, not at all cosy. I had a jacket potato with chilli con carne. The potato was ok but the chilli was a little too hot and very dry, it needed to be in a sauce. Used to go there a couple of times a month but will give it a miss in future.

Visited on a Saturday night. Think there was a party going on, lots of people drunk, looking a little out of control and unsafe. Management of situation not really giving me confidence of a safe environment.

Lazells, four of us had an excellent Sunday lunch at the newly refurbished "Lazells" Restaurant in the Fohounds, Orsett. Thurrock.

The Foxhound has completely refurbished their restaurant and called it Lazells. We came here for a Sunday lunch, what can I say, the restaurant is stunning the service was excellent and so was the food, one of the few best roasts I have had in a long time. One tip they need bigger plates for the huge portions.very much look forward to returning soon

Had my dad's wake here in September, staff very respectful and helpful. Food was lovely would definitely go for dinner here on a happier occasion, this just what was reqired at this time. Owners very helpful and approachable.

This is a cosy country pub set in the local high street. The restaurant serves excellent food, but is closed at the moment for refurbishment

We all had a lovely meal here when a group of us payed a visit here celebrating a birthday and at a very good price too.

What a lovely time I had in the pub today I’ve stopped hankering for days gone by when I was a drunken nurse and now happy with the public bar and us old folk. A chat about football or a Micky take about feet and whose the fattest lol

We were lucky enough to win a Sunday meal for 4 at this pub from a charity event. Even though we live locally, we had never visited until today. The food was lovely and there was plenty of it! The staff were very friendly and helpful and the service was great. I would highly recommend if you are looking for a nice Sunday lunch and will definitely return. Thank you very much!

Lovely little area and neighbourhood, upon arrival we weren't really sure which way to find our table or the host/waitress. The dining area (after finding it) was quite nice a bit cold and empty though. Our starter was ok (stuffed pepper), after finishing it we all went for the lamb roast which was very disappointing. The meat was chewy and tasteless, the gravy was very poor. Unfortunately we all left rather disappointed. We will just stick to our local place in the future.

So we are back at the pub, which is quite an honour really it means I get to sit in the public bar with my husbands reasons for living 4 or 5 times a week. All his public bar drinking buddies are here and I am allowed to sit with them I am one of the gang!
