Had a really lovely meal at the Ship with the family to celebrate mums birthday The food was epic, very tasty and enjoyed by all And Archie the dog was made very welcome too The chap at the bar who served us was really brilliant, friendly engaging and very efficient, the owners/landlords also took time out from Christmas tree decorating duties to come over to check all was ok with us and have a chat A nice proper warm friendly welcoming cumbrian pub and we all hope it stays so just a shame we are not locals to enjoy it more often

Arrived at opening time on the last evening of a week staying locally. The pub was bright, warm and clean with a roaring fire. The barman was polite and welcoming and offered us a taste of all the beers available on the pumps, brewed by Greenodd Brewery. My wife and I chose our drinks and sat at a table. We were pleased to see a fish option and also pleased to see it was a little different from the usual Beer Battered Cod! We did, indeed, enjoy our Baked Haddock in Oatmeal. I really can't recommend this pub enough. I would, however, reiterate the way we were made to feel so welcome by the guy behind the bar. Busy, but never stressed.

What a lovely warm friendly place. Staff are very professional and welcoming. The food was superb. We couldn't have asked for better. The pork belly and open pie was so tasty and extremely well presented. The chef even came and sat and chatted with us all beside the fire. What a great homely place. A proper pub with local beer. Dog friendly. The resident dog Jim is adorable.

We stayed in a local cottage to the Ship - we ate at the pub twice and had fabulous meals with them. Great produce and excellent value for money More importantly we had a great welcome on the four occasions we ventured in for a well deserved pint of great ale after a dog walk. Our dog Skyla was also made more than welcome on every occasion. We felt like regulars after only a few minutes. Will made us so welcome and we enjoyed our Halloween there where we helped welcome in the local trick or treaters. Excellent choice of beer and all made on site - we enjoyed trying to name the new beer that we brewed whilst we were there.

This small cosy pub was just perfect. Extremely delicious Sunday roast (both vegetarians). The food is the quality you would expect at a high end restaurant at very reasonable prices (we had 2 courses for around £14pp). We both throughly enjoyed everything we ate. The staff were lovely and friendly. This pub is made even better by the roaring fire and cosy interior. Thank you so much for a lovely evening! We will defiantly return the next time we are in the lakes.

Visited the Ship Inn on Saturday 14th September and found the staff very welcoming and helpful. The food was fairly typical pub food but and very tasty, well presented and the service was faultless. The beer/ale being brewed on site, was of excellent quality and tasters were available to try before making a selection. The only ‘downside’ was that we tried to go back a couple of times during our weeks stay only to find that they were either closed or were only serving food over a long weekend period; perhaps due to the traditional holiday period having finished. Overall, well worth a visit, thoroughly recommended and very dog friendly.

My wife and I have called at the Ship a number of times over the years, normally en route to our final destination in the Duddon Valley, the initial attraction for me being the range of tasty real ales produced by the pub's own in-house microbrewery. The food offering here used to largely revolve around pizzas, which we had tried and were perfectly OK. However we were interested to hear via other reviews that a more adventurous food offering was now available, so we called on spec early on a Friday evening. The pub itself was very quiet with just a few locals chatting at the bar, but who engaged us in friendly conversation making us feel welcome. We were the only diners which was a shame but perhaps due in part to our earlyish arrival shortly after start of service, and also the impact of the previous night having been Valentine's.

I visited the Ship Inn at Greenodd for a meal with my family, on first impressions it had a lovely welcoming atmosphere. The friendly bar staff greeted us and showed us to a table, I think he was called Bill. The landlord and landlady were dinning at the same time and recommend which real ale we should try! We were amazed they brewed it all on site! On their recommendation I had the award winning Greenodd Roundabout which went down a treat! After ordering our food it was a short wait until it arrived in front of us. You could tell it was all freshly made to order! Presentation was 10/10 and taste was like nothing I’ve had before! The food is excellent and well cooked and with a pool table and games and a great old record player with LP's to choose from. The building has character. Its a little off the beaten track but that's great as you avoid the hoards of tourists (like me!) and get served quickly. The local real ales are worth a try. I especially liked the 'Captains'. We called in, having booked a table, after Cartmel Races. The food ordered took quite a while to come and looked appealing. It seems a little strange to charge for chips with the steak options - surely no-one expects to have steak,A mushroom and a tomato only on their plate? Chips should not be an extra. The gammon was very greasy and the 2 poached eggs were almost hard-boiled - very disappointing. The food was actually tasty despite these niggles, but won't be rushing back. Prices were quite high compared to similar establishments

But being ignored by the staff for a good ten minutes and just standing in the door waiting for some kind of acknowledgement from anyone was not, eventually we got drinks and went to sit by the fire as were told our table wasn’t ready (even though it was already 15 minutes after our booking time and there were tables unoccupied).

Maybe I'm biased, as I live in the village, but the Ship is all that you would ever ask of a local village pub. After its renovation a few years back, Stuart the landlord set up the Greenodd Brewery and since then it has gone from strength to strength. After setting the scene with their Best Bitter, the brewery went on to produce some real classic ales, including Citra, Roundabout, Amarillo, Kiln, Coal Wharf Stout and Aussie Paul (named after the late, great bar manager). Stuart soon found that having other guest beers on the pump was a waste of time, as nobody was interested in drinking them. If you can't find a Greenodd ale to suit your palate then you should probably stick with lager. Along with that, the company is always good, the fires are well fed and so are the customers, with excellent food served nightly. A proper pub, with a big heart and good people - what more could an Englishman want?

Called here for a takeaway lunch, used them several times before. Service was disappointing to say the least. Not a please or thankyou from the ladies working in the shop - even when I pointed out they'd only charged me for 1 flat white! Previous reviews also highlight the fact that the staff are miserable, they respond but do nothing to address the concerns raised. Also, I would've thought that as u was the only customer in the shop on a very wet day would have been positive for them - obviously not! Not sure I'll return here.
