Everything has improved this year, food and service. Good local for families, dogs drinks and food. Let down with no local guest/craft beers

OK but weird owners. Think some hospitality training courses are needed. Has the potential to he a great local pub/diner with a bit of investment.

The Ship is my local pub and I cannot praise it highly enough The staff are all quite young but they are brilliant.... Friendly and hard working even on rugby days they work their socks off and are still smiling The food is excellent value ....we eat there often Sunday lunch is very good as well...a kind of sports bar in the back room and live music on certain nights My hubby says it serves the best pint of Guinness in the area Give it a try you won't be disappointed 👏👏👏

Used to go here years ago but never ate, now a lovely restaurant with pub doing food, Sunday roast was amazing today so fresh and reasonably priced. The desserts looked good too but I was behaved today, just have to go back for one :)

We've visited several times for Sunday lunch. This is our favourite place for this important meal, out of dozens of places we've tried in about a 30-mile radius of Rhondda. Happy staff, very fast service and lovely food. Thank you and keep up the good work!

Went here to celebrate having achieved something that day . 2 venues were full so we phoned the ship before travelling. First sign . No-one eating inside or out. Second sign Waitress brought our hunters chicken and asked if we would like a steak knife. I tell you it was dire. I wacko annoyed I tried not to say too much but I took myself to my bedroom on getting home to try and calm down. Do not go here Dorothy Pontypridd

An excellent place for taking all the family. Ideal outdoor play area for children of all ages. Also does ideal kiddies meals.

Good atmosphere. Reasonable selection of food although prices are a little on the steep side. However, good place for a drink and something quick to eat.

Went on Sunday afternoon singer was good nice afternoon only wish they did bar snacks in the afternoon after lunches finished

Needs a refurbishment. Very dated. Staff were friendly food was just ok. Toilets in need of a deep clean and dusting and painting needed.

Me and my boyfriend went to the ship Inn on Thursday and we were both really really happy with the super friendly staff there, and the food was stunning to most definitely would recommend my friends and family to go there five stars

The worst thing about this place is the manager!! There was a hair in my food and when told to the waitress the manager came over and took no responsibility. Didnt apologise and instead made excuses why it wouldnt be a hair implying that we are lying! Saying that his chefs have hair nets and that he serves over 200 people a day! The food itself was AWFUL! The roast potatoes were overcooked and everything was bland! NOTHING was done about our complaint on the food. The bill came requiring we pay for all the meals even though I had eaten very little as it was just disgusting. All of our party didnt enjoy their meals. The manager then only came over over due to one of our party complaining on the customer service. He then stated that WE didn't wait for him to sort the bill even though we had been sat there long enough for him to actually DO something and we had already paid at this point. Again, no apology, no accountability taken and very rude staff. Even the waitress apologised on his behalf saying if she could change this she would (so even staff recognised how bad this was). Avoid at all cost!

Found a hair in our food, potatoes burnt to the point they couldn't be eaten. The several veg was stirred a mixed together but members of the table can't eat certain veg. Majority of the food was left and unfit to eat, spoke to a member of the waitress team who said they will inform the manager. He came over, explained and showed the photo of the hair etc however, no apology, basically stated that he will just ask the chef about it, came across that he didn't believe us even though we had the photo evidence. We said the food wasn't that great and he stated that he serves 200 people on a Sunday so we didn't matter, he just walked off and sat at his computer. The bill came, no reduction, no sympathy except from several of the waitressing staff who agreed the owner is rude and didn't care. I had to use the toilet and on my way the manager was staring at me with an uneasy look. I asked him why is he looking at me like that but he just shrugged his shoulders. I said thank you for his great customer service and I walked back to my table. He followed me and told me not to be rude, I said I just said thanks for the customer service and I explained to him how rude he sounded he just said just leave the premises. This is not somewhere I would recommend to anyone, food quality very bad I even heard customers on other tables complaining about the food. Managers attitude terrible! AVOID THIS PLACE IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE DISAPPOINTED!

Haven't been here for a few years as we moved , called in as passing had a beautiful Sunday dinner ,staff were amazing , will definitely go out of our way again , thank you

Our dinners were really lovely, but could have been a bit hotter. The service was really good a lovely waitress.

Went in the week only people in the restaurant after eating the meal we can see why no-one eats there terrible meal.will not good again

Food was nice, service wasn't the best. Nice park for kids. The bar tender argued with me about a table number and the staff were not very helpful when it came to allergies regarding food.

Staff were all really friendly and the food is nice. Plenty of choices for drinks at the bar. There is a really nice outdoor space, some covered with plenty of room and great play area for young children, with the addition of the play bus

They have plenty of space outside for children bit found it lacked any atmosphere for couples. Excellent for families though. Didn't get chance to try the food but will do next time

Visited here with a group of people after a brass band contest in Tonyrefail. 1st time encounter. Very busy pub which caters for families. Young children can enjoy the play area and a double decker bus soft play area whilst parents can sit under cover or in the Sunr. LONG queues for drinks when it's nice weather as this place is VERY popular. Good food served outdoors also, to which there is also an indoor Restaurant. As stated, this was my first trip to the Inn and will certainly go again.

First time visiting, lovely atmosphere, very comfortable and warm. Plenty of staff and good service. Would have given 5 ⭐ if I had toasted bread with my pate as the menu stated. Well done ✅

Excellent place. Came here a bit by accident and stayed for a pint and then some food. The food is gorgeous and really well presented. Typical pub grub menu with some added seafood dishes but also really classy and delicious while still staying reasonably priced. Staff were all welcoming and helpful too, what a great find! All weather playground outside, great for the kids

Very nice pub with lots of options. Well set up to watch sport. The beer was good and the staff couldn't do enough for you, they were so keen to make sure our experience was a very good one. Highly recommend 🤠

Visited here on 12th February for our 40th wedding anniversary. A party of 10 .Food was plentiful and absolutely delicious, followed by a really good artist. Drinks were reasonably priced and excellent service by the busy staff team.

Sunday roast was stunning here! Have booked to go again in a couple of weeks! My favourite part is your dog can come with you if you sit in the sports bar, they're not allowed in the nice restaurant part which is fair enough, sitting in the sports bar was absolutely fine 😁

Fantastic relaxing place with ship decor tastefully done throughout the pub. The service was excellent and people were friendly. The allow dogs inside, but these must be kept on a lead. Fabulous place and well worth a visit 😀

Really enjoyed our Sunday lunch. Nothing fancy but good food, good portions at a good price, relaxing and the staff were very friendly. The nut roast was my winner. Dogs are welcome in the bar and there's quite a bit of bar space.

Great Sunday lunch very tasty and plenty to eat. The staff are very efficient and friendly. There is a lovely atmosphere and a charming pub they have an outside play bus for the kids.

When we arrived we were put in the bar which was fine but we seemed to be forgotten about. Ordered Sunday dinner for 4 adults and 1 child. I bought a round of drinks at the the bar after being told it couldn’t be charged to the table until we ordered food. I asked for glasses for the cans they were all dirty with one with lipstick on. We waited over an hour for the main course. When we went to pay we had been charged for the first round of drinks again and double all the food. When we complained they got the manager who was aggressive and rude and didn’t once apologise for their error. I got the impression he thought we were lying. He went to the kitchen to sort it out then came back and continued being aggressive he even put his son on the door to ensure we didn’t leave. It turned out we had been overcharged by more than double first bill was £240+ and final bill was £113 when I asked for a copy of the first bill I was refused and told it was his property and he said he was going to put a picture up of me all over the the pub which is again quite an aggressive behaviour towards a 5’2” middle aged woman. In the exchange he had a go at me for blaming the staff I told him I had no problem with any of the team but quite frankly they looked terrified of him. Really disappointing as food was fine and all the team members were lovely.

Called in on spec with my grandson (13) and granddaughter (10). Excellent food, and plenty of it! Staff were courteous, pleasant and helpful. Good value for money. Well worth a return visit.

Had breakfast the other morning with my wife was greeted by alun I just say its probably the best cooked breakfast we have ever had all freshly cooked top up tea and coffee will definitely return

Had a car meet there good parking and hot food too.

Food excellent and plenty of it, staff friendly and helfull, plenty of room to park, also has a beer garden, & undercover outside seating, plus a small children's park, looking forward to visiting again soon

Don't even bother...potatoes hard gravy like water parsnips cold could not cut them can't cook roast potatoes they weren't even cook we book our lunch and we still waiting for about 40 minutes do waist your money

Booked a table for 14 on a Saturday evening. Credit due food arrived quickly and nobody had to wait more than a few minutes. The food was great so were the staff, could not fault it. Will 100% be returning

Pretty good, I got drunk, sat down at the table like a truck and tipped it over and shattered all the glasses and they cleaned it up well and then I fell in a bush

Went for impromptu evening meal during the week and was very disappointed. I know its a family pub but it was very noisy and service was a bit slow. I had curry and have to say you couldn't tell it was chicken at all and was in a runny sauce. Looked like beef. My husband had SpaghettiCarbonara and loved it so maybe chose wrong thing. Wouldn't hurry back there although reasonably priced.

Called in at 5 pm in afternoon had a lovely meal and very helpful service so don’t know what people are moaning about

Rest of the experience in summary - Vegetable curry £14.99, if you like a small portion of rice and a meagre portion of veg drowning in a barely ok curry sauce, then this is the one for you. My second drink arrived quite quickly and, eventually, S remembered that my wife’s second drink hadn’t come. I could recommend several really good local restaurants to which the owner could send S to see how customers should be treated. The couple that should have had the table where we sat arrived later and were shown to a table for four. Possibly a good idea too would be to restrict the dog that appeared in the doorway (I’m guessing from the bar or maybe some other kitchen/prep area) three times during our meal! He was no problem, just rather strange to see him surveying the restaurant while people were eating. The highlight was paying the bill - a completely new experience for me! I’d checked the bill and placed my credit card on the table waiting for S to return. S picked up my card and performed the contactless gesture as if I was invisible, without even consulting me as to whether I wanted to go down the contactless route or use my pin?! I was too surprised to say anything. Finally, without sounding too fussy, your “Eaten Mess” should be spelt Eton Mess (not as written on a discarded slate placed next to the chiller cabinet with the dead desserts). The Ship Inn used to be a lovely place to eat with several absolutely first class servers. We won’t be returning.

Visited for a family meal as have several times since they reopened. I must say that I was very impressed with the food and service we received on previous visits, but I can't say the same about our last 2 visits( went a 2nd time as thought it may of been an off day) Food has definitely gone down hill, also the service on previous visits was second to none, staff were very friendly couldn't do enough for us, was very organised and run impeccably unfortunately same couldn't be said on our last visits. Very aware that there was new staff and several of the previous staff who made our previous visits very enjoyable where no longer there( was informed this by a member of staff when I asked). No organisation and felt like everything was an effort to them. 1 young lady spent more time sat behind the desk staring into space and another walking around a restaurant wearing a baseball cap and made us feel like we were putting her out. I will say the young lad behind the bar was very polite and helpful, he did point out to us that the restaurant did table service for drinks rather than us getting up all the time but we were parched waiting for service on drinks. Overall the service and food has drastically changed and I think its fair to say we will not be returning for a 3rd time.

Food and atmosphere is always top

Sunday lunch 19/6/22 Very disappointing with the service and the food. It was cold servings came to table 15 minutes apart. Too many staff and no coordination. Definitely needs re-shuffle and training. Gravy was very sparse no colour, flavour like dishwater and greasy.

Hi ordered two beef dinners to take out. Wow what lovely dinners. They were £10.50 each but well worth it. Will order again Thank You all

Waited an hour and a half for food no apologies

Called in today, busy but ordered food at the bar. Chicken and chips for myself and a burger for my wife. To be honest the worst bar meal I've ever had. 7.95 for chips and a flat piece of chicken, a burger with bacon that was undercooked. VERY POOR £25 WITH 2 PINTS. NEVER AGAIN. Not a very good first meal. But my LAST.

The fun bus is only there 12-3 today. It's £2.50 for 20 minutes so for £7.50 you can eat your dinner in peace ✌️😄

My grandchildren and I had a few hours here yesterday. The children's play area is very nice and well fenced for safety. The Space Bus is parked there which gave them half an hour of fun for £2.50 per child. The outside seating area has plenty of benches and a designated smoking hut, not that I am a smoker myself. The bar staff are very friendly and the service is good. My grandchildren had some lunch consisting of, sausage and chips and a hotdog, at £8 for the both I thought this was very reasonable. The only thing I could say I wasn't happy about is the parrot kept in cage in the bar.

Booked family meal for 7 of us,pub wasn’t busy at all,food was poor over cooked chips ,cold dry jacket potatoe, the lady waitressing was not very sociable at all,terrible customer service ,everything was an effort !!!glad to leave will not be going there again,shame as few years ago was a lovely pub!
