A good place for a meal. Arriving at 6.15pm one Sunday without a booking, we were made welcome and our meal, a curry and a salad, arrived promptly. Very acceptable and good quality. We would return very happily.

Called on the day and was able to get a table. Ordered our food with no problem, a longer wait than anticipated for the food. Sadly the kids meals were not what we ordered and my meal wasn’t totally right. Waiting staff were apologetic, spoke to the manager following our meal. The owner listened and apologised again. Our concerns were dealt with swiftly and a solution reached. The owner was very friendly and accommodating. Food was cooked fresh and arrived hot.

We were staying just around the corner from Solva, and each night we would go out for dinner there. For our last evening, we decided on the Ship Inn. When I went up to the bar to place our order, I first ordered the food for the four of us, and then I started on the drinks: a pint, a J2O, and a Pepsi. I couldn't remember what my partner wanted, so I sent my daughter back to ask. It was going to take just a few seconds. Instead of waiting for me to finish, the bar staff decided not to serve the drinks I'd already ordered. Instead, they turned away to serve the man across the bar (who I suspect was a local) and his order of six drinks. This left me standing there, waiting. Once she was done, I finally added a coke to our order. I felt like a second-class customer because I wasn't a local. The menu mentioned beef curry with rice, and I asked for a side of chips with mine, as the menu didn’t indicate that a half-and-half option was available. When my food arrived, it was just beef curry in a bowl with a side of chips. I complained, and the waiter was very apologetic, but after the experience at the bar, I just wanted to leave. The Ship Inn is a lovely pub, but it seems they don't particularly welcome tourists and prefer to keep things local. Sounds petty but every place except the ship in Solva was welcoming and provided professional customer service. The Ship Inn was the exception.

A great experience from start to finish, friendly welcome from the barman on entering and the great level of service continued throughout the evening with the waiter and chef, lovely to go somewhere that is also a locals favourite and you can easily see why. Food was really good, we had the monkfish Thai green curry which was really tasty, great balance of flavours, chips were perfectly cooked and the lamb shank again really well cooked and just great food. So nice to find somewhere that says it’s dog friendly and really means it, my border collie was so comfortable he fell asleep and that doesn’t often happen! Would thoroughly recommend and will definitely be back.

Visited Solva on a very wet and windy day with partner, baby and dog. Decided we’d pop into the Ship Inn for a cappuccino and get some respite from the weather before heading further up the coast. On entering I asked if dogs were allowed and received a less than chirpy “yes if behaved and don’t bark”. So ok....ordered cappuccinos but told don’t do them it’s coffee and milk and that’s it. We were already inside so decided to order these. I popped to the ladies and couldn’t see a thing as no one had switched lights on and the switches weren’t inside. There was the most overpowering and gut wrenching air freshener that burned your throat in there so it was a quick visit. On return I asked if we could buy a half pint of milk for our little girl, it appeared a bit of an ask as was greeted with a huff and a puff but the lady behind bar did provide it although seemed begrudgingly. The pub was empty and said lady sat on a stool next to us, didn’t make any polite chit chat or offer us any jug to warm milk up (she would’ve heard me say it was too cold to give daughter initially). We concluded that the land lady who served us clearly wanted to be elsewhere. Our impression was a dreary pub which lacked any kind of happy welcome. Big shame.

Had a couple of nights here to use for a base to walk the coastline. Small but clean and comfortable rooms. Only 3 rooms in the pub. Parking is in a nearby car park and is free from 5pm- 9am. Otherwise 5 pound per day. Staff friendly. Lovely little village for a couple of days.

That would include the publican driving 10k and back to deliver binoculars I left behind. How did he find me? Searched and followed my trail to the cathedral. Kindness personified!

Disappointing to say the least! Hardly any steak, no whitebait ( run out despite being very quiet). My daughter, on enquiring about the presence of nuts in anything, was told not to bother ordering anything!! Over an hour wait despite there being no one else in the restaurant! Needless to say, won't be returning.

Waited over an hour for food (only 3 tables in front of us) .... Food was over priced, manufactured CRAP! Cooked in old oil, and one meal was not what was ordered!!! Save your money and go to McDonalds ... very disappointed If I could leave a minus, i would.

Refused an omelette at 3.33pm as cooked food finished at 3.30pm despite board advertising outside. No apology.. They have lost potential regular customer.

Valentines Eve Dinner Breakfast 'stuff' left out on the side tables No atmosphere what so ever and no mention of valentines day bar the cheap printed menu Grunge style waitresses with unkempt hair and seriously downtime outfits totally inappropriate for this kind of place. No style no finesse such a shame when the venue is really quite special 35 mins wait for 1st course to arrive No bread, no crudités Terribly mediocre food No condiments No table cloths, table left dirty No glasses cleared away 2 courses both had components missing had to tell waitress That lot cost around 130.00

Lovely stay in our Motorhome Good beer and a fabulous meal. We stayed en route to Fishguard for the ferry and is thoroughly recommended.
