I like going on a Thursday Music Night which is amazing!! The food and service excellent. Everyone friendly and accommodating. Recommend this super village pub by the river Forth.

OK. Have been here on numerous occasions previously. Food was fine, although the two who had the fish and chips said it wasn't as good as before. The service was the main issue. Two of the five who had a reservation were delayed by 15 mins. When we arrived we obviously were catching up. Within 10 minutes we were approached and asked to order despite empty tables around us. The waitress/whoever clearly had no people skills. This was inevitable when we were divided up the bill! She made a remark which we we all picked up on - basically that we we were working out who was paying what. Totally unacceptable. As long as payment is made, does it matter how! You got a tip and that was down to the other lovely food. Work on those people skills please.

We were in the area, and this place was high on Trip Advisor. I thought we would give this a go. We hadn't booked, only had 2 tables in at the time. Got told a 20 min wait for food, which we didn't mind. We got left standing at the door and ignored for over 5 minuted so we sat ourselves down, we got our drink order in, but still no menus given to us. We actually got them ourselves eventually. A table of 4 came in that had booked and must be regulars they had completely different service to us, they were sat at a table straight away given menus and told the specials we didn't get any of that. Shame because the food was amazing. Chef is very talented, we had steak pie, venison stew and tikka curry all were delicious. Desserts were a caramel cheesecake and chocolate fudge cake. Well done to the chef excellent food. It was a birthday meal for me, so food was enjoyed, but service let the chef down, we didn't feel welcome at all that was disappointing

Friendly pub where the staff couldn't be nicer. Stopped in but they were full, sat outside for a wee few minutes and so glad we did. Fish was amazing, we will definitely be back! Book to save disappointment!

Booked a table for 2 on Saturday (3rd August). First visit and thought we'd try somewhere different and really enjoyed it. My wife and I ordered the calamari and haggis bon bons and have no complaints. Both great. Both had the fish and chips...again great. We were going to resist eating any more but caved in and divided a sticky toffee pudding creme brulee between. Lovely. Really enjoyable. Nice relaxed atmosphere and friendly stuff. Highly recommended

A group of blokes on a stag weekend arrived for food after a day of activities of quad biking and hovercrafts ! Food was pre ordered and on our arrival a quick check was made with the menu and guests to ensure the order was correct. Most ordered burgers a few fish n chips, 1 x salmon and mine was Balmoral Chicken. The food was delicious and served very fresh and hot. My Balmoral Chicken was immense and would highly recommend 👌🏻 5 star visit and service and I personally will be returning!

Just had a great meal here. Dining alone as I am working nearby and NOT treated like a leper as can happen in some places. Staff were great, chatty and interested in what I thought of the food. The cream of mushroom soup was absolutely fantastic, packed full of flavour. The haddock was an amazing size, cooked and presented very nicely. The gin an tonic new York style cheesecake was amazing with just the right amount of flavourful punch that a cheesecake should have. Recommended if you are in this area. Decent prices as well including a pint, a dram. Thank you

Quaint little pub looking out onto the estuary of the river forth. Prices moderate for the area. On our particular visit it would seem they were short staffed and asked us to wait an hour before ordering food. Nice enough venue to wait to order and food was good.

Nice location, pleasant staff. White wine was served in an ice bucket but was not chilled. The meal itself was mid price and nicely cooked and presented. However, the gluten free options are limited. In particular I was disappointed at the gluten free fish and chips. Fish was fresh and cooked well, Unfortunately the chef didn’t bother to batter it. Would have been so simple to do, Don’t feel I want to go back. Not as good as it used to be since (I believe) it was taken over.

Friendly welcome. The restaurant was full but the smiling and accommodating staff found us a seat even without a reservation. We were able to have dinner while listening to a probably local music group. Hearty and fresh dishes. We recommend !

First time having dinner and the food was excellent, had a new dish served tonight ( chicken and chorizo stew it was amazing), fish and chips delicious too all veg cooked to perfection, someone knows how to cook. We will definitely be back and will recommend, very attentive and polite staff well done all hope to see yous soon.👍

Excellent service by super friendly staff. We turned up without a booking but after a drink at the bar, a free table was quickly found for us. Even more excellent was the food, piping hot and very tasty indeed. Highly recommend the pork stuffed chicken breast with mash and fresh vegetables, the beef bourguignon and the sticky toffee pudding with ice cream. We were lucky enough to be treated to live music as well! Thank you for a lovely evening!

This was the first restaurant we visited when we arrived in Scotland. This place set the bar high and has still been a high point. Live music was amazing, food was impeccable, and owners were very pleasant!

One of the best local pubs around! Great staff, always friendly and welcoming. Good quality pints on draft and lots of spirits to choose from! I highly recommend the Salmon from the food menu! Second to none.

What a find. Up here for a course. No great research about where to go, two local pubs, one of which was closed on a Monday. Pub is fairly unassuming, simple decor, a few locals at bar, impressively full with diners, hadn’t booked but very friendly staff sorted me out. Pleasant local Ale. Amazing food … fresh breaded haddock, perfectly moist, big flakes, great chips, fresh well-dressed salad. Treated myself to desert, a very nice hazelnut creme brûlée with small helping of ice cream, really good taste. Honestly, had not expected to find food this good, real treat, freshly cooked, good choice of specials.

Online menu is different from the menu they have in the restaurant. i wanted the steak pie and my partner wanted chicken balmoral only to be told they don’t do them anymore as they had recently changed the menu. why not say that the menu had been changed and the menu online hadn’t been updated when I phoned to book the table? why not tell customers via social media of the menu change?

Booked well in advance as it can get extremely busy on a sunny day in March. It is located on the waterfront with plenty on street parking. We arrived at 12 pm on a Sunday and were shown straight to our table. The interior is traditional, making it quite small but creating a lovely dining space. Staff were warm and welcoming. I enjoyed a Guinness, and my dining buddy had coke - draught or can was offered. Menu is a typical pub menu with a few different options. I had the traditional gammon steak and sides, and we were advised this is cooked to order, so it would take slightly longer. My friend had the salad, which they described as delicious. Coffee to finish off. Reasonably priced and good portion sizes. Would definitely return.

Arrived during a rainy gale in January. Fed a huge portion of good food by friendly staff. I've been here before on a beautiful summer evening but i prefer being here warm and well fed during a winter storm.

We very much enjoyed our lunch at the Ship Inn yesterday. We ordered the gammon steak with spiced peach and the special chicken curry dish. The vegetables served with gammon were very fresh pleasant change to the frozen we often get these days. The service was friendly too , as for the rhubarb crumble…… delicious. Looking forward to our return visit. H & H

Visited again as we used to live close by and regularly came for food. Been twice in the last few months and food and service have been exceptional. Very friendly and attentive staff and portion sizes are huge. Food is fresh and cooked well. Will be back soon.

Fantastic lunch here last Wednesday with my mum and her friend. Food was delicious I had smoked mackerel and horseradish fishcake plus a haddock and chorizo one followed by hazelnut creme brulee. Best lunch out in ages. Staff couldn't have been nicer so helpful and friendly. Definitely worth a visit.

Visited this pub years ago. This time it was a family lunch. We were well looked after. The food was very good and the portions were very large. So large we could not finish our meals. We all had different meals so won't mention them individually. The beer was very good too. Service was good. All in all we were very happy and would return.

Actually still in the ship, another fabulous meal, pate, burger, bourginonne, staff an absolute joy, service fab. A must go to. Can't wait to return. Julie Hugh sneddon ❤️

What an excellent find while out walking in Limekilns/Charlestown today. We decided to pop in for a bite to eat and were made so welcome although we hadn’t booked as just walking by. Lovely atmosphere and the food was absolutely delicious. Lovely friendly staff. Thank you for accommodating us and we’ll definitely return and recommend to others.

Booked a table short notice as we were working in the area. Received a warm welcome and menu's. Opted for the steak pie and didn't regret it, the best steak pie I have ever had. Portion sizes were good, so good there was no room for desert, well, a couple more pints of well-kept beer maybe. Thursday night is music night. A bit of a jam session from local musician's. They turn up at random times and all join in. Maybe not my normal cup of tea, however, on this occasion, the mix of musician's and the play list was a relaxing addition to a great evening. Thank you. On my list for a return visit...on a Thursday evening!

Super gutes Restaurant mit top Service. Ohne Buchung noch einen Platz für uns bereitgestellt. Sogar mit Hund. Das Personal war so herzlich und zuvorkommend, haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Das Essen super lecker, Steak war Perfekt, Vorspeise (caramelisierte Onionrings) ein Traum und die Desserts (Lemon Cheesecake und belgische Waffeln) soooo gut. 100% Empfehlung.

Beim ersten Besuch leider keinen Tisch frei gehabt, aber total nett und freundlich und gleich woanders angerufen,ob die was frei haben. Heute vorher reserviert und sehr freundlich bedient worden, sehr gut gegessen und ein sehr gutes lokales Bier getrunken. The Ship Inn, sehr zu empfehlen!

We were invited by family to a lunch at the ship Inn, wow what a gorgeous meal, homemade pate, haggis and black pudding croquettes, steak pie, fish and chips, one other starter, sorry can't remember what it was, also delicious. Staff were an absolute joy, chef definitely has it spot on, and we are really fussy! Just a shame it's not nearer to us in Falkirk, but we will definitely be back. Julie Hugh sneddon.

Hmm. The chef if I may call him that did not have clue. I got the katsu curry which was unrecognisable as a katsu curry and was not nice. Chicken cut into tough lumps in a brown sauce. My better half had vegetarian jambalaya which was a hot mush. The chef needs to Google some recipes Fish & chips looked ok

What an amazing experience, the sun was shining, we sat outside and had one of the best customer service experiences. The lady that saw to us was very friendly and helpful. My husband had the curry which he described as very authentic and I had the fish cakes, they were out of this world exceptionally good. Definitely warrants another visit. Thank you

My husband and I found this place purely by chance and what an absolute gem of a find. The staff were so welcoming and accommodated for our puppy. The food is so fresh and is absolutely amazing. We would definitely recommend.

I've been here twice now, (my ship is in refit in Rosyth). Both times I've been made to feel really welcome, the staff are very friendly, drinks selection is decent if your after a beer. If you're after spirits, the drink selection is very good indeed, there's a few bottles back there I've almost never seen in a pub! Prices are very reasonable, especially for a city boy like me. I can't comment on the food, as I've not eaten here but, judging by the amount of calls the barstaff took for reservations, I'm guessing it's pretty good!

We had a wonderful time at The Ship Inn. We arrived with our overly enthusiastic dog and we were made to feel so welcome. The food was excellent, we had two starters - calamari and haggis/black pudding croquettes followed by a steak pie, the special of the day (beef olives) and fish and chips. We have wanted to go to the Ship Inn for quite some time, you have to book ahead because they are busy and there is a reason for that! We are very lucky that we are local and we will definitely by back. Thank you again for giving Bailey such a big fuss and she was delighted with her doggy treats at the end of the meal!

Food amazing, atmosphere amazing, staff are great and efficient. Went to psychic night and was not impressed with the show at all. Would come back for the food over and over again. Hope they do more entertainment nights but they really need to bin the psychics, they were horrendous.

We went this afternoon after arriving in Limekilns from 6 days of travelling around Scotland. We received the loveliest of welcomes from the lady serving. She made us feel so welcome. What a star she was. Mxx
