Found bones in the chicken curry. Salt house burger was definitely not an £18 quality burger. Was noticeably dirty - crisps spread across the floor and a broken glass salt shaker with a dangerous sharp edge. Curry sauce was almost flavourless, the chicken was poor quality and the rice was rubbery. The chips were straight out of a chip shop. Overall the food was incredibly overpriced and belonged more in a school kitchen.

Awful Sunday lunch. Serve meat roasties and mash then you wait until your door is cold for your veg and gravy. After you've eaten your cold meat with warn veg you are then served your Yorkshire pudding. Meat isn't from a roast joint it's sliced packet beef. Total waste of time and money. Informed staff but no apology offered through and we weren't kept informed of what was happening. When asked how was food I informed the lady of the problems and she walked off, again with no apology or even acknowledgement of the issue which I found plain rude. Overall I'd say they wouldn't have learnt from this and avoid eating here if you like having your food hot and served as one meal

Not quite sure what was going on as my experience wasn’t in line with others ? Had fish and chips but needed to send it back - batter overcooked and fish not properly cooked where the fish was thick , and where it was thin it had no taste ! Think the fish was poor quality and the fat was too hot . Swapped for the curry (without any complaints) but the curry (chicken curry) was also not great - mix of white and dark meat , but strange taste to the chicken and again not sure if it was quite cooked through . Maybe just caught them on an off day but at £17 for fish and chips would have expected a lot better. Just left the curry , thanked them but didn’t ask for any money back as I didn’t want to make any more fuss than I had (I have never sent food back at a restaurant before)

Lovely dog & kid friendly pub. Close to the beach, plenty of outdoor seating in the beer garden which catches the last of the evening sun. Staff work hard & the majority are really friendly. I wasn't too impressed with one staff member (older gent) who was blatantly rude when taking my food order, turned his back when still talking & told me to get my cutlery & sauces over there (without actually showing me where). Asked for a coke & was given a diet, when I took it back up to change it he just shrugged & told me they only do diet. I would of ordered something different if he had said that to begin with. Food was absolutely immense, gutted I didn't take a photo. Fully loaded burger is to die for, I've also had cooked dinner here in the past. Will definitely be back on our next visit!

The pub is tucked into the beautiful Gower peninsular and the decor is lovely and rustic with friendly staff and better than average food. However Covid measures are apparently non-existent.On arriving we waited for our booked table in a cramped porch where other patrons pushed past with zero social distancing. The table we were given didn’t seem adequately cleaned and a party of 8 men all quite obviously from different households were sat next to us.As a parting gift our pudding spoons were handed over by the bowl, not acceptable in normal circumstances. No masks were worn by staff. This could’ve been such a fantastic evening if these issues could be addressed. Please try harder and take your patrons and staff health seriously.

Slightly disappointed with the £15.00 Cod & Chips. When it arrived the fish was very small in comparison to other photos on this trip advisor page. Also the batter was very soggy & just tasted so bland. The chips were nice but the peas had a hardened dry crust on the top. We had the Linguine Special which for £24.00 was far too expensive for the contents of the dish. There wasn't much seafood in the dish, I counted 6 clams, the prawns were very small 'King' prawns, a few cockles & 3 baby squid! It tasted nice, but for the price I expected much more. We have visited the Ship many many times over the years and this weekend has been no different - food was lovely and the atmosphere is great. BUT, although there are social distancing posters dotted around the place, this does not happen. There are track and trace slips on a table that customers are asked to fill out - only a few were completed in our time here. No hand sanitizer, no masks, screens or visors for staff. The one way system is ignored and not one member of management is checking on anyone’s safety. Mingling is still as it ever has been. I didn’t feel safe in here at all this weekend. If COVID hits this pub, we are all going down with it. And because only about 20% of the people we watched filled out the slips, you will not be able to contact people. Really poor show guys. Compared to other pubs, you’re lacking and showing no respect for your staff, visitors or this deadly virus

More pressing my friend and i didn’t feel completely safe as I felt staff and other weren’t adhering to covid rules no social distancing, no facial coverings were used lack of sterilising tables and I had to ask about track and trace. We went with our family (6 of us) to the Ship Inn on Saturday. While the surroundings and food was great and staff friendly, I was extremely concerned there seemed to be very little adherence to the Covid Rules. None of the staff I saw wore masks or visors and I saw two tables pushed together making a table of 14 people. People were required to go and ask for a form to fill in for Track and Trace, of course, I doubt very much people went and voluntarily did this. The bar area was very busy and there did not seem to be adequate social distancing in place. Considering this is a busy time for pubs with lots of tourists visiting Wales you would think there would be a better understanding of the rules not only to protect staff but customers too. Wales has worked hard to limit the number of cases and it's a shame to see this sort of behaviour.

However, none of the staff wore masks/visors. At one point a waitress came to our table to collect glasses , I felt this was totally unnecessary whilst we were sitting there. She leaned right over us to pick up the glass that was on the table when we sat there. I asked her to come back when we left. She shrugged and walked off. I really want to visit local businesses to help get their businesses back up and running but establishments should be doing everything they can to keep customers safe.

Was really looking forward to a nice meal out after the landlord said the vegan options on his menu were great and versatile. Arrived at the pub at 1715, 15 mins early and were seated by the polite waitress. Drinks ordered no problem. The starter, mixed olives and vegan pizzas were ordered at same time. 20mins later after the order, the mains arrived. I told the waiter we hadn’t had our starter yet! He spoke to waitress, who had clearly not pit through the correct order. No apology from her, all evening, at all. The starter came soon after. Them the mains came. 2 pizzas. How hard can that be to mess up. My wife ordered a no cheese fungi pizza. Which had mushrooms, garlic and tomatoes. It came with no garlic or tomatoes! We ain’t someone to complain all the time, but when asked if all ok by the waitress, I had to pipe up. She returned to kitchen. I then saw the same waitress chat to her colleagues, clearly she was talking about us, this made us feel uncomfortable. Not professional behaviour from her at all. The manager came over, a tall dark haired lady. She apologised and offered us a free desert. Our daughter had the mini doughnuts. All in all the experience was a bad one. Wrong order. Mains came before starter. Waitress making fun of us. And only a free desert. We had been to The Ship Inn. The previous day for drinks. Couldn’t fault the place. But this experience was bad. Seeing as we were in there for 1730 and no other customers were in the restaurant part, yet they still messed the order up is beyond me. More trading is required. And maybe a dedicated front of house. I would not recommended The Ship Inn Port Eyn

Not a fan of drinking good beer out of plastic glasses but more importantly I thought that we were trying to reduce plastic use for the sake of the planet. No other pub in the Gower that we visited that week used plastic. Is a rethink required?

I don’t normally leave reviews, but credit where it is due. We had an outstanding meal tonight (06/08/20). I had the Linguini from the Specials board and it was one of the best meals I have eaten for a long time. Superb food, would highly recommend.

Me and my wife recently spent a few days in Port Eynon. We have been coming to the Gower for over 30 years this pub has been transformed. Very welcoming you must visit.

4 visits to The Ship this holiday. Every time was a pleasure. Tonight we had our first meal inside for 6 months and it did not disappoint. Lovely steak, gammon and kids meal. Spot on deserts too. By far the best thing of tonight was Phillipa. Real asset to this local family run business. She was outstanding. Well done all. See you soon.

Great to have the Ship back open again but its pricing seems to have gone up a bit. £20 for 4 small lemonades and 2 Fantas is pretty steep (we did drink beer too which was fairly priced).Turns a meal out with the kids into something quite expensive!

We visited the Port Enyon and The Ship Inn following a recommendation and we weren't disappointed. In fact we were so impressed from the 1st night we came back for more. Dog friendly and very friendly staff. The food was a mixture of traditional pub grub but with some nice home inspired surprises like the stews and pies. Would definitely recommend and hope to be back again.

We were recommended this pub and it certainly did not disappoint - to the extent we came 2 nights on the trot. Very dog friendly and the food was amazing from the menu to the specials. Best food I've had out for a long while. Staff really friendly and welcoming. We will be returning.

We turned up last minute needing a table for 4 adults and 9 children on a Friday night and couldn't have had a warmer welcome! The staff were lovely, the service was quick, the food was delicious, the Gower Ale divine and the house white very drinkable indeed - a lovely evening was had by all. Thank you! We will be back.

We stayed in a cottage in Port Eynon and visited the Ship for food, beer and wine a few times. A warm welcome for us and the dog and lovely food every time. You can tuck your self in the corner next to the fire or join the banter at the bar with the locals.Pubs like this need (and deserve) support, especially in winter as I am sure the location means there are queues in the summer.Try the pie of the day with a glass of red wine after a stroll on the beach in the rain. Nothing better.Kate & Steve xxx

All pump clips turned round. Says on Gower Brewery site that it is one of their pubs so why dont they make sure ale is available on a friday night?

The food leaves a lot to be desired....I had a rump steak that was mostly un cuttable but the dog in our party enjoyed it! Its the only pub in Port Eynon , I think?, Just get good ingredients in and respect your customers! Its not Rocket Science!

Had a great lunch here a couple of days ago. Mum fancied scampi and chips. Initially we couldn't find it but there it was in the kids menu. no problem to do an adult portion.

We visited here when saying close by at Culver House. Really friendly and the bar to the right welcomed dogs (4 in there when we visited). Gower Gold beer was really good. We had an evening meal -burger really good £12 and steak cooked well-bit pricey at £22 as not much with it ( chips and salad). Lovely staff and we hope to visit again.

My partner and I were staying in port eynon and popped into the ship inn to watch the rugby. We were made to feel so welcome. The landlord and all staff members were helpful and friendly. It has a great atmosphere. We'll definitely visit here again and next time stay for food as it looked really tasty!

We are here in Christmas Eve and it was nice and busy with others doing the same. Food choices were typical pub grub and included home made pie of the day (puff crust only) and fish of the day. Overall a good selection of food and drinks with good service. Imagine it gets pretty busy in the summer!

Lovely food and atmosphere. Fresh cod and chips was delicious and burger nice to. A little on pricey side for some dishes and drinks which is reason for four instead of five stars ⭐️
