We ate at the Ship as a party of 4, 28/09/24. Excellent service from a dedicated and professional team of enthusiastic and highly motivated staff. The food was exceptional and the service likewise. A guitarist with a varied and comprehensive repertoir added atmosphere to an already brilliant evening . Please make him a permanent fixture. Really appreciated his music. Thank you all.

We've been coming here for 8 years. We've always had good grub but over the last couple of years we've found it a bit pricey so we only have a few pints when we visit. We were so glad we visited today. The food was delicious, the price fair and the service excellent. The rib of beef in bourbon was beautiful. Please keep it on the menu. We will be eating regularly there from now on.

Awful meal.. I ordered the medallions with peppercorn sauce & homemade chips £26. The medallions were rare, i told a member of staff the beef was rare & he said that’s how it’s cooked, he wasn’t interested , I said if I had been told when I ordered it the beef would be rare I would not of ordered it! The chips were soggy & not cooked. I left most of the meal. My kids pasta was tasteless with very little sauce & the skinny chips, again were under cooked. We will not be returning!

Not enough characters to explain. First off the parking is terrible anyone remotely familiar with Port Eynon will expect this, you'll have to park in the beach carpark and pay £5 before you even step foot into the pub. We booked this for my mother's 60th, all friends and family came down (11 in total), we booked ahead of time and advised them we have a baby as well. They then seated us down, and we requested the highchair to which a member of staff rudely said no and left. We proceed to ask again and she said no because of health and safety (they had seated us in a fancy area that had steps to the table) we then explained we told you about the baby in which they huffed and puffed at and reluctantly moved us to another table which apparently was high chair friendly. We sat down and they give us the high chair - the higher chair came with no table for my baby to eat from, and the table was approximately 20cm higher than the baby. We raised this concern and said we need a different table or a higher high chair in which they could not assist with, this eventually lead to my baby smacking his head on the corner of the table. The prices in this place are ridiculously high, so high you'd expect to not have 3 separate people bringing their dogs sitting around you, and their dogs having a barking match, and eventually ended up biting eachother. You expect if you're going to charge £20 for a meal you'd have some sort of control over this. This is where the meal ended for us, we then unfortunately missed my mother's 60th due to poor service, the rest stayed however due to their lack of support for a child, and over support for dogs we were forced to leave. The rest of the family has then told me that service didn't improve even after this, to a point their food was thrown on the table without addressing who's it was. Bottom line, this is a typical sizzler pub, impersonating a fancy establishment. I'd save your money and go somewhere else.

Booked a table for 11 and asked for a highchair. Arrived and got seated, asked for the highchair, got told no you can't have one in that seating area and the woman walked off. Came back and said it again and we said we told you over the phone so why are we not seated where we could have one. Woman huffed and puffed which is unacceptable behaviour! We got moved to another table and were given a highchair which was pointless cause the table was much higher than the chair so my baby couldn't have food at the table! 3 of us walked out at this point, the rest stayed but said it all went downhill after we left as service was still shocking.

We popped in tonight to have something to eat…. The food was ok but certainly nothing to write home about. The pub is supposed to be dog friendly but really they seem to just tolerate dogs! No dog friendliness what so ever and what ever you do don’t let them sit on the seats! We were most definitely advised against this… even though our little cockapoo was sitting on my jumper! But fine if that’s the policy…. However, one particular barmaid whose name I don’t know but who seemed so unfriendly… she was borderline hostile! I had to ask her if we had upset her! I am a nurse and if I treated my patients like that I shouldn’t still be working! We couldn’t wait to eat and leave … Definitely wouldn’t recommend this one…. Go to the Gower Inn….amazing food and very kind to both humans and animals!

Found bones in the chicken curry. Salt house burger was definitely not an £18 quality burger. Was noticeably dirty - crisps spread across the floor and a broken glass salt shaker with a dangerous sharp edge. Curry sauce was almost flavourless, the chicken was poor quality and the rice was rubbery. The chips were straight out of a chip shop. Overall the food was incredibly overpriced and belonged more in a school kitchen.

Awful Sunday lunch. Serve meat roasties and mash then you wait until your door is cold for your veg and gravy. After you've eaten your cold meat with warn veg you are then served your Yorkshire pudding. Meat isn't from a roast joint it's sliced packet beef. Total waste of time and money. Informed staff but no apology offered through and we weren't kept informed of what was happening. When asked how was food I informed the lady of the problems and she walked off, again with no apology or even acknowledgement of the issue which I found plain rude. Overall I'd say they wouldn't have learnt from this and avoid eating here if you like having your food hot and served as one meal

Not quite sure what was going on as my experience wasn’t in line with others ? Had fish and chips but needed to send it back - batter overcooked and fish not properly cooked where the fish was thick , and where it was thin it had no taste ! Think the fish was poor quality and the fat was too hot . Swapped for the curry (without any complaints) but the curry (chicken curry) was also not great - mix of white and dark meat , but strange taste to the chicken and again not sure if it was quite cooked through . Maybe just caught them on an off day but at £17 for fish and chips would have expected a lot better. Just left the curry , thanked them but didn’t ask for any money back as I didn’t want to make any more fuss than I had (I have never sent food back at a restaurant before)

I wasn't too impressed with one staff member (older gent) who was blatantly rude when taking my food order, turned his back when still talking & told me to get my cutlery & sauces over there (without actually showing me where). Asked for a coke & was given a diet, when I took it back up to change it he just shrugged & told me they only do diet. I would of ordered something different if he had said that to begin with. Food was absolutely immense, gutted I didn't take a photo. Fully loaded burger is to die for, I've also had cooked dinner here in the past. Will definitely be back on our next visit!
