Great little pub. Popped in for quick drink early doors on our arrival in Penclawdd. Weeks holidays for friends, I was just there for weekend. Friendly welcome & drinks prices were very reasonable. Real ale on draft at £2.50 a pint? Just had couple of drinks & sat outside as it was nice weather.

This is a traditional pub. The decor is eclectic but very much the landlady"s style. We were made to feel wecome by the staff and the locals. They do not do food but will allow you to bring in your takeaway, she even provides menus for you to have it delivered. Such a refreshing change from pubs of nowadays where they are more like restaurants.

We popped in here after a nice circular walk of the area. An absolutely lovely pub with cracking views of the estuary that we can't recommend enough. It was clean, warm and very comfortable. We visited in the winter but looks like there are some good outside spots for a barmy summer afternoon too! There's a great selection of drinks available and there was football playing on the big screens. Heather (the landlady) went out of her way to ensure that we felt welcome and is a perfect host. It houses a nice group of locals there who gave great conversation and again ensured that we were very welcome in this beautiful spot on the Gower (shout out to Tony/Feedo... An authority on sea glass). Go to Pen-clawdd, stop in the Royal Oak and have a lovely time!

Beautiful interior, lovely staff, spotlessly clean, ample parking and good disabled access. Bar area and pool table, plus lounge. Drinks priced realistically and plenty of attention to detail, aesthetically, professionally and in relation to customers. I went in alone and felt completely comfortable.

We had a good time. The pub owner was very accommodating and arranged a table for 8 with short notice. They also allowed us to order takeaway from a nearby place. Overall very friendly and easy going.

Myself and a group of friends visited this pub after taking part in a local running event. Really pleasant experience! The landlady couldn't have gone further out of her way to welcome us and make us feel at home. We sat on the quieter side which suited us perfectly as we could chat and eat our food. It was nice to go to a pub which was also dog friendly for our pup! If we're ever in area again, we will return!! :D

Had a drink in the rear beer garden and was amazed to see so much dog mess - either they have a pub dog or lots of dog visitors but they obviously don’t pick up after them. We left after 1 drink.

Visited on a Saturday lunchtime. Not many of the beers were available and nothing local. Not many snacks either. But the welcome and service were friendly and rugby was on TV. Nice to sit outside and enjoy the view over the estuary.

It was a bit tacky. Wales had drawn in the European Championship the night before - was there some spillage when they scored (being generous). Seemed to be a “pony and trap” meeting going on At some stage. Covid regulations weren’t really being applied with any seriousness.

We popped into the Royal Oak on the Monday of our short break last week. We were made to feel so very welcome, despite very sad events locally of the weekend before. Heather the landlady was fabulous! We popped in for one drink and stayed all night and my husband tells me the beer was fantastic 😁 We visited again on the Wednesday afternoon and once more were greeted warmly by the lovely barmaid and the locals, who were very friendly. A real community feel, just what we were looking for! So much so that hopefully the next time we visit Penclawdd it will be to buy our forever home 😁 We really look forward to being a part of the amazing community there!!!

I could not believe my eyes when I saw a cockroach scuttle pass my feet as I was waiting by the bar area to order soft drinks for our family. This was our first time to Gower as we were meeting friends and if this is the filthy standard to expect at public places around these areas, then we certainly won't be coming back again.
