The Ship Aground in Carmarthenshire

We had a fab meal at the Ship, the food and team were both brilliant & if you like a burger - than you HAVE to try something from the little Mo’s menu. I didn’t get the name of the landlord, but he was super friendly and a proper publican. We’d head back in a heartbeat.

Didn't have lunch 4 of us but we could not take menu outside? So we didn't bother. Loss of about £100 surprised as pubs are struggling

Impressed by the welcome and service. Excellent menu which covers a lot of food tastes, portion size excellent. Good prices as well. We were so impressed we booked Sunday lunch without any recommendations.

Ordered the slow cooked beef brisket Gyros, with salt and pepper chips, along with 1/2 chicken served with chips and peas, with a choice of 4 different sauces, we chose the gravy. The food was so tasty, hot and great portions. Staff were very friendly, and it is such a lovely pub, great atmosphere. We were served quickly, admittedly it was late on Wednesday afternoon about 4 pm, and not many in at that time of day, but we have been there on Saturday lunchtime in the middle of summer, it was so busy, but the service was faultless. We will be back !!!

Absolutely stunning!!! We were served promptly and an excellent, varied menu. As a fussy eater, the chef came out and explained the options I could have. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We had the bruschetta to start which was amazing. Little twist on traditional bruschetta with the addition of pancetta and mozzarella. Our main meal was the Cajun salmon. I had mine with sauce vierge and millionaires fries. One of the best meals we have had in a long time. Da iawn Megan a Gavin. Top dining experience.

We were up for the weekend for our upcoming move to a nearby village and after a busy day unpacking, we decided to eat out. But being an August weekend, we didn't expect to get in but bingo, they managed to squeeze us in. The food is always excellent, with generous proportions and the service is super friendly. Our dogs were welcomed in the bar and snuggled under the table but the staff (and other patrons) still made a lovely fuss of them. I'm gluten-free and there were plenty of options on the menu.

My wife and I had a late lunch/ early dinner here last week, this is the first time since Gavin has taken over ( however we used to visit a different pub when he was landlord/ chief previously). The food and service were excellent, obviously cooked fresh to order. Both tasty and some unusual touches. We will definitely be back and highly recommend a visit, however do book in advance as you will be disappointed if you just turn up as they are full most nights. Diolch Gavin and the team👍

Comfortable, friendly and a great atmosphere. This was our second visit in the last few weeks, and we have already booked our next visit on August Bank holiday Sunday. The staff are a credit to the landlord, extremely friendly and helpful. The meals were very well presented and hot ( even the peas ). We have rarely been served better food. Oh, and they are dog friendly. Keep up the good work.

Was here on 7/8/24 as usual and absolutely stunning meal.Gavin and his team work so hard to ensure customers enjoy Thier visit. I would suggest even thou I am sure Gavin would try his best to accommodate booking as they are very busy at all times. My parents and I come here for the beef brisket pie. As mentioned in my previous pie review the pie is amazing. Colcannon mash, peas and outstanding gravy is all you need. Didn't even look at the menu as the beef pie was available. Call us boring or if it ain't broke don't fix it. Try the Pie.

What i liked was the lady serving was very busy with other customers at the bar and she immediately lifted her head in acknowledgement of our waiting and assured us of her attention,and served us our meal asap.The food was served quickly and cooked nicely and hot and our first time visit was an excellent one.

Booked a table for two (my husband birthday) only to be told when we arrived that our table was in the bar (tap room) which was busy and rowdy. Presumed we would be in the restaurant having a nice relaxed meal, bottle of wine,etc. We decided to leave as not happy to eat our meal with people stood around us. Didn’t realise we needed to specify that we wanted to eat in the restaurant when we booked.

Good service, great food. Would definitely be coming back. Highly recommend. The food was cooked excellently, came out piping hot!

8 of us went out for evening meal & puddings, could not fault any of it, all food and service was brilliant and prices were reasonable.

Today, I visited the Ship Aground with my husband and son and I simply had to write a well deserving review, it was excellent! I decided to sample the fish and chips and I can honestly say it was the best fish and chips I have ever tasted! The fish was superb, so crispy and fresh! It was delicious.. My husband ordered the beef brisket pie and commented how tasty it was. My son had sausages and chips from the kids menu and loved it too. We all had a fabulous meal and will definitely return.I would highly recommend this restaurant. The beer garden was lovely and the staff very friendly and welcoming. A lovely restaurant with superb food. Definitely worth a visit!

Fabulous food, we sat outside in the sun with our dog and ate a beautiful meal. I had the pie, which was just as good as all the reviewers say and my husband had belly pork which was exceptional …..we will be back

Thirteen of us (age 2 to 72 )turned up unannounced for lunch and asked if they could accommodate us. No fuss ,no problems ,found us a table and they looked after us admirably. Great choice of menu, good choice of drinks and everything a reasonable price. Food was good and to give them credit all meals were served at the same time. Give it a try, you wont be disappointed

We were in the area looking for lunch and wow, what a find. The food from the main menu was excellent and service was great. We had duck rilllette and the chicken and hake to follow as mains. All dishes were quite exceptional in our view and at price that shocked me. Way below what I would have paid back home! Great taste and unbelievable value. Will be recommending the Ship Aground to any of my friends passing. Well worth a visit.

Very poor, a few reviews say about the wait for food, 45 minutes to get the first drinks and the 2 more 5 minutes later, 2 again later on, we were a group. Food took nearly 2 hours, after an hour we asked if the children could have theirs as they were getting bored, they didn’t care, they’ll be along shortly The food itself was like marmite, you either love it or hate it.
