The Selly Park Tavern in Birmingham

We’ve visited selly park tavern numerous of times, and we enjoyed the service and food, we choose to celebrate our daughters 9th birthday with the family, there was 17 of us altogether. We thought everything was great.. we had no problems with food.. it was all lovely and brought out within a reasonable time (especially with 17 of us) the staff were all friendly and efficient. There was no negatives!

This place serves amazing food. We went last night table for 4 and we enjoyed our meals. Well done to the cheff as it was amazing. Yummy.. Been twice and it has been lovely food both times. Service was 5 star as well. Will always go there when we come up here from bridlington to visit my son in cannock. Always... Can't wait for the next time we go. 😊😉

Order my food starters and main came at the same time and then the main was really cold when I said something they went and microwaved it and brought it back which is not acceptable will not be eating in an ember inns again absolutely terrible

A very comfortable pub, relaxed atmosphere and friendly service. The menu is much improved with a pretty wide variety of choice.

Best cozy place in Birmingham, the best steak ever, great value, super amazing people. Feels like home and I can tell it’s really loved by the community. All the food is amazing, I would definitely recommend this place. And I’m definitely coming back, this place is a treasure.

Lovely little Sunday lunch at the Selly Park Tavern today. Enjoyed the Sunday duo which was a lovely mix of meats and veg. Also dabbled in the sticky toffee pudding for dessert- delicious. Would recommend for a nice cheap Sunday lunch.

Great service, hosts and atmosphere

Had a lunch gathering with (16)friends. I must say the service was lovely, staff very pleasant, and I can highly recommend the sea bass fillets. The atmosphere was great.

I ordered the fish and chips and a double burger. The fish and chips were decent, though nothing special. However, the burger was burnt and the patty was very dry. I remember Selly Park Tavern being better; it seems like the food quality has declined.

Beer and Skittles evening with 16 friends. Brilliant fun and great buffet, plenty of food and amazing staff. The 60s decor gives the alley that authentic touch!

Good quality food and service for a reasonable price.

Been a monthly regular here this year on a Sunday afternoon lunch but yesterday we all noted the meat portions were small as opposed to previous visits. Other than this the place ticks all the right boxes for us good parking, not overpacked with small children or yobs. Unable to identify why but would have to think twice before returning. What was a good excellent meal for the family has changed not for the better. I was going to recommend the Sunday Roast in the box below but now i cannot.

Great pub with some really nice staff, the pub is very dog friendly which is a bonus for me and the food never disappoints.

Went for lunch there yesterday,with family and young child. It was the first time I had been there. The food was excellent, the service was great, and the place was spotless. I was very impressed and will certainly go back when we are in that area. Thank you, Selly Park Tavern

Visit yesterday was lovely for a 70th birthday. Area put aside for us. Service was spot on the two ladies were very good making sure everything was ok for us and being 10 of us food came out efficiently and the environment has just had a re vamp. Thank you for a lovely evening

Food was rubbish. I ordered chicken and bacon salad and got chicken and bacon salad in a wrap with chips. As it turned out I got what was ordered on the till, the person who took the order Should have read back what was ordered to make sure. My husband had gammon , which was just like a piece of cardboard, the chips were lukewarm as wetevthe peas. All in all a total waste of money. Maybe management should put in place the practice of reading back what the customer has ordered

If ever we fancy a pub meal, we always come here. One of our fave places to eat!

Nice local pub, great pub food. Fast friendly service. Close to work and they allow us to order ahead so we can be in an out in our lunch hour. They also have a separate veggie and vegan menu, which is a good idea.

Lovely pub I’ve been going to for years, just re-opened after refurbishment, and it looks lovely. Staff always friendly and helpful and food is very good, reasonably priced, plenty of choices and well cooked and presented. Definitely recommend

New refurbishment looks great and the food last night (slow cooked beef) was the best I’ve had there in years. The sea bass my wife had was also delicious. Great place to spend a Friday evening with friendly atmosphere. Never any trouble there.

Good location and they were able to do a last minute large group booking which we were thankful for. Food was good and the staff were pleasant and ensureed everyone had what they wanted.

Alway take mom here for lunch it's quiet at lunchtimes with friendly staff really well presented reasonably priced meals and with a gas open log fire it's cosy and relaxing.

Just to say we just got back from the selly park tavern it's was the first time we went and we both said it's was one of the best Sunday lunch we had and and the bar staff was very friendly and we will be back soon.

I have been going to the Tavern since arriving in Birmingham and have enjoyed it everytime. The staff is always very helpful and the place has a great ambience and atmosphere. They are also pet friendly so you might get lucky and see a dog one day! Food is very good and would highly recommend. Cocktails are also amazing and are less expensive if you buy two.

Went to Selly Park Tavern for breakfast. It was very cosy and warm. We sat by a fire. They accommodated for our allergies. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Food was quick and tasty. They were very knowledgeable about the wildlife in the local area. Will definitely be returning.

Welcoming little boozer on the pershore road, nice selection of beers and wines, food was hot and tasty, staff are very knowledgeable about the local wildlife. Will deffo be returning when I’m in the area!

Been here a few times, but notably with a party of 5 blind folks, and the service and food was amazing! Jen is a great host and was incredible at managing everything!!!

Having been to this pub a fair few times, (we don't get to get out much), but this will always be our go to place. Frank is amazing. He literally cannot do enough to please and help you. With his calm, happy, and friendly demeanour, he's a really sound gentleman! Collete and Frank look after is brilliantly, and we appreciate the lovely environment they create at the Tavern. Mum and I are thankful for the lovely experience we have each time get to visit. Excellent choice of food, and drinks are spot on! Thanks guys!

Food was great service was good but slower than normal.

Food not available for vegetarian options hair on a plate which was changed immediately my son went the previous Friday which was excellent but not on the Sunday

My visit this time involved an IVC group meet up( 20+ members attended). I found the Selly Park Tavern has a warm and friendly atmosphere, the managers & staff very helpful & friendly. The food is excellent with choice of nice Ales.

I, and in fact everyone of the 6 in our party thoroughly enjoyed the meal at the Selly Park Tavern. Most of us had different platters of lunch and it all was superb, well cooked, served nicely and in time for everyone to eat together. The only thing was they didn't clear the table once we had finished with bottles and gravy boats which made it awkward because the table quickly filled up with stuff that was finished with. That said, I can't fault the meal or the room or the atmosphere of the dining rooms.

Great country pub work fires which make it very cosy. Perfect for that quiet drink.

Disappointed. The real ale is not being kept as well recently. Some of my favourite beers all look fine but don’t taste fresh.

Nice pub, friendly staff and has disabled access for wheelchairs and pushchairs. Had to wait 45mins for food but the food was pretty good once it had arrived and the beer was good and at a fair price which is what it's all about

Visited today 22nd June. Was told NO FOOD TILL 1PM, THEN 2PM,so obviously left and went to The Navigation kings Norton (Thier Loss)

Haven't been there for a few years, but I was suitably impressed. Drink prices were reasonable, outside seating, ample parking and great food. Looked just like a pub used to feel pre lock-down. Staff were friendly and helpful without being overbearing.

Arrived unbooked but it was quiet. Food took an hour to arrive but was hot and tasty. Staff member quite rude and unconcerned about time food was taking. Table was sticky and unwiped.

Nice place to pop in for a bit of pub grub and a pint. Decent sized car park to rear, that you must then enter your car reg on a screen at the bar.

We booked last minute for lunch today however, there were a couple of tables free despite there being some large tables reserved for a function taking place. This affected how quickly the food came out however, we had time to kill and it was definitely worth the wait. The food was excellent and the portions were a lot larger than I expected, considering I had ordered from the 3 course day menu costing only £11.29!! I had chicken wings to start. I think there were eight pieces, then fish and chips and I finished with apple pie crumble. A bargain! I highly recommend this place. Free parking, great staff and great food at a brilliant price. What else could you ask for?

This place has gone downhill you have to leave to write a review. The man with a beard needs training on how to respect members of the puplic… and surf in turn and not worry about servicing the regulars frist food was rushed and tasteless burnt was not nice complete waste of money, when I said I was going to complain to frank I was laughed at by the beard man behind the bar. Absolutely shocking very poor customer service. As it is In the heart of Birmingham there are 100s of places with much better food and service eg Red Lion, Kings Heath and would actually appreciate your custom.

Drinks were served quick, but we were served an alternative without being told the requested drink was unavailable. Food had a long wait on, as it always does at the Selly Park Tavern. Chicken burger was really good, duo of roasts were very nice, and the sticky toffee pudding was great, however the ice cream sundae was literally one scoop of ice cream and the rest of the bowl was filled with whipped cream.
