Food is expensive, for example pie £21. Short rib on toast was very good. Nice pub, off the high street. Plenty of parking, London rates at £4 an hour. Guest beer turned out to be Fullers (or was it Youngs?) and at 5.80 a pint, excellent value.

I’ve visited this pub a few times and always had a great experience. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The beer garden is a standout feature, with plenty of seating and efficient heating, so you can enjoy the outdoors even in cooler weather. Since I’ve had my son, this pub has been a great spot for meeting up with other mums and babies —there’s a friendly vibe, and enough space for buggies, and and they host a number of sensory classes. Sunday roast is great as is the fish and chips. Very generous portions.

Really disappointed with this roast. The food normally is really great and would recommend. But we had the Sunday roast. Not a great experience, 2 slithers of beef, half a carrot, 2 roasts potato’s, some greens and a Yorkshire pudding. They asked us how we wanted our beef one medium rare and one medium. Both came out the same. £24 a head as well which for the quality was not good. Won’t be going back for a roast and will stick to their usual menu.

The food was brilliant - clearly a lot of thought goes into the menu, the dishes were high quality and well presented. Our waitress Anescia was very helpful and efficient. The dining room itself has a lovely atmosphere to it, very cosy. Prices on the higher side but this is reflected in the quality of food and the service - would highly recommend for a nice meal

We recently enjoyed a fantastic dinner at The Selkirk in Tooting and were thoroughly impressed. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. We had the pleasure of chatting with Marco, a friendly Italian who provided excellent recommendations. We took his advice and ordered the chicken pie and thighs, both of which were incredibly tasty and well-prepared. But the highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the sticky toffee pudding – absolutely divine! The Selkirk offers more than just delicious food. The staff are genuinely friendly and attentive, creating a relaxed and enjoyable dining experience. We were also pleasantly surprised to discover they offer a 10% discount for NHS staff, which is a lovely touch. While we visited on a Saturday night, we're already planning our return to experience their other offerings. Their weekly schedule is packed with enticing events, including stand-up comedy on Mondays and a tempting Sunday roast.

First of all, there was a very long queue out the door just to get a drink despite the pub being half empty. After being offered table service by a waiter, we sat down and ordered two bottled Rekorderlig ciders. Once they arrived, we were charged £16! I paid but I thought this was unreasonable so I checked the menu and the price was actually £6.80 per bottle (still very unreasonable). Therefore, we must have paid over £2 in service charge (which we were not told about as no bill was provided) for somebody to bring two bottles of cider from the bar to our table which was less than 5 meters away. Hospitality businesses should stop taking the micky out of its patrons. This left a nasty taste in my mouth I won't be coming back.

I honestly love this pub but if someone book for roast (it was initially 5 of us then change in to 7) the kitchen should make enough roast for all the booking first no? Where to start…so my girlfriend and I moved to the area about a year ago and have been in search for a local. Enter stage left, The Selkirk. Greeted by friendly staff, one naturally gravitates towards the garden and as a true Brit, a pub garden is a trump card for any pub. We went for their smaller starter plates and it was lovely at first bite. I have been there numerous times and yet to be remotely disappointed in any dish. Truly some of the best food I’ve had, not just pub food but restaurant food. Last night (Wednesday) was burger night. As a self proclaimed burger connoisseur, the juiciness and simplicity of their normal standard burger almost had me going back for another. I cannot rate this pub highly enough for a weekend boozer, a place to impress the in-laws or somewhere to host an event. 6 stars from me and I look forward to going again!

Disappointed! I’ve wanted to visit The Selkirk for sometime, but such a disappointment! I appreciate it was busy upon arriving at about 6:15PM on a Saturday evening, but for some reason, only one of the two bars were open, where a long queue had formed. That’s fine, I thought, as I am sure they are on it and will clear it quickly. Sadly, that was not the case, where I could see the same people at the head of the queue over five minutes later. Some staff were serving, but more seemed to be wandering around or filling up the water jar on the counter! After over ten minutes of not moving very far, someone mentioned the other bar was now open. Great, so we moved around to the other side to see three people walking from the bar with their drinks. But upon getting to the bar, we were told it was still closed, so back to the end of the original queue again! Over twenty five minutes to finally get a drink in a pub is shocking. I would have left a good twenty minutes earlier, if it was not because we were there for a surprise party! Not a good start. I can’t say I warmed to the pub from that point on, but there was further frustration when ordering food. I am more than happy to pay a tip / service charge, when ordering from a table. But not sure about paying it, when ordering food at the bar! However, I can just about accept it, but to then add the service charge onto the full order, including a round of beers is not acceptable. Apparently I could have refused to pay it, but I was not made aware of it, nor was I given a receipt to show it was on there! So, shocking service, with every opportunity taken to add additional costs into your bill! I can’t say there were many redeeming features. The food was good, but it should be, given it’s not exactly cheap and the actual pub itself is great, so it is such a shame that the whole experience was so bad. If you are looking for a great pub, with a diverse clientele in the wonderfully culturally diverse area of Tooting, then don’t go to The Selkirk. I just found the whole experience rather annoying, frustrating and quite depressing!

Service today was fantastic, our waitress superb and everything that one would expect from a great local pub... Lunch rush was busy but everything was handled well and efficiently, reminiscent of past excellent experiences. Food was tasty, and dessert great but by then I was pretty stuffed. Amazing job done Nicola and her team , we will definitely be back for further food experiences.

Just had the Venison at the Selkirk, it was awesome. Not sure who the Chef is but it was incredibly good. Beer and service was excellent but the food was absolutely top notch.

Fantastic cosy atmosphere with passionate and friendly staff. Food was above and beyond the stereotypical pub grub you may expect. Worth while to come on a weekday as it can be rammed on the weekend. Highly recommend.

Bertie and Boo hosted my sons 4th birthday and it was a roaring success. It was wonderful to see the upgraded play space. The kids had an absolute blast. Boo our entertainer was hilarious and had the children and adults in hysterics during the magic show. Sam our host looked after us so well- nothing was too much trouble all of our guests were offered drinks and everything was taken care of - meaning we could enjoy the party and catch up with parents properly- a rarity ! It will be a party that we remember for years to come..

A gem in the heart of the area. Just enjoyed a delicious chicken schnitzel and bottle of wine. Service was really good and our server Arthur improved our day no end. Will definitely be back.
