The School House in Lichfield

Although the arrival into the carpark is underwhelming the rear of the school house is impressive - an expansive view of an extensive and attractively laid out garden as well as an extensive patio. The dining room is well structured and nicely laid out with a number of larger rooms capable of taking small parties, families, business meetings and parties and weddings. It is an eminently flexible venue. I was there for lunch with a former business colleague - the menu is varied , dish presentation is very good and the food tasty and well considered. Scallops well cooked and flavoursome and the calves liver was excellent. The trip to the venue is well worth it.

We went for our 50th Wedding anniversary, (so obviously we are in our 70's) it was a cold evening but thought we would be walking into a warm restaurant, unfortunately there didn't seem to be any heating on, so felt cold when we entered! The meal was very good, as was the service. We would have loved to have stayed longer for another drink or coffe but Unfortunately, we were both so cold we paid and left. We did say to the waitress we were so cold, and she said there was a problem with the heating! Other customers seemed to be keeping their coats on too. Such a shame it spoiled our special evening.

Private dining room - 90th birthday celebrations in the Meadow Room. Thank you to Chris and the girls who looked after us all so well and made a special 90th birthday for the twin golden girls even more special. Great night you all did us proud thank you so much.

Popped in for Saturday dinner and had excellent service from friendly staff. Food was excellent quality and good value for money. Would definitely recommend.

Due to meet someone on the day following we were given advice when in NZ as to how we might book. Subsequently had to cancel attending a day prior. Excellent pre-booking attention. The evening was absolutely first class- service, food, atmosphere, cost. Well done we take very happy memories back to NZ of our re-union with relatives and ‘The Schoolhouse Restaurant’. Thank you.

First time at the school house a few weeks ago, and my god the standard here is unreal, the staff are very smartly dressed and super friendly and attentive, we came in for Sunday lunch and it was beautiful, the soup is lovely, Beef cooked to how I like it, nothing was too hard for them to do for us, everyone made you feel very special, they serve afternoon tea too, a la carte and set menus during the week/end, the scenic views are stunning, definitely will be back!

To celebrate mums 80th birthday we booked afternoon tea for family and friends which was 20 people in total.The afternoon was brilliant. The staff were so kind,friendly and accommodating and the separate dining area for us was perfect. The afternoon was brilliant. Everything was so fresh and tasty. Sandwiches were perfect. The scones with clotted cream and jam were to die for. The little swan choux cakes were delightful and the minature sponge cakes were morish. vegetarian guest and child were catered for. Tea. Coffee and decaff served. Plenty of drinks and food for everyone. Not one complaint.Everyone commented how lovely it was.Thank you to all of your staff who gave such a special afternoon to a very special lady.

Have been to this restaurant before and it was amazing. So thought we should return! Charlie was very helpful and gave us some recommendations. The food and customer service was great and really made the evening special. As always, will return again. I recommend the halibut dish!!!

Four of us booked a table for Sunday lunch recently. The venue, food, and service were very good, but our entire meal was ruined because a large group, sitting close by, which included about 5 children of varying ages, from a baby upwards, made conversation difficult due to the noise. We had not seen our friends for 2 years, so we were really looking forward to it. I asked one of the managers if she could have a word with them, and for a short while it was okay, but then it reverted to not being able to have a peaceful conversation again. We left the table and finished our wine in a much quieter area. While I appreciated the apologies from the management, I felt that the very least they could have done was to say “have coffee on us”

We came not long ago, and were so impressed we chose it for an anniversary meal. Again, we were delighted with our food and service. Chris was great at front of house , and took our order whilst we had a pre dinner drink.

We had lunch one Wednesday with their 25% off deal. Both of our meals were excellent. Staff attentive. Overall experience extremely good.

I went to Manleys with 2 friends and had an excellent meal.

This is also known as The Old School House. Visited here for our aniversary. Greeted and sat down for a drink while choosing off the menu which is always a nice touch. Waiters were efficient and polite . Food came in good time and was excellent. I had sword fish which was great and great chunky chips. The restaurant is nicely decorated and nice atmosphere. Really enjoyed wholecevening will return.

My mother took us for my 53rd birthday and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. On the hottest day ever it was lovely to sit on the terrace overlooking the stream and enjoy an aperitif.

Me and my other half came last night. We had a lovely drink outside overlooking the stunning scenery. We had our order taken whilst there , before moving inside to eat.

Been here a good few times with Family in the past. Always been excellent. Today Chris and his team really had it together on a very busy Sunday Lunch time. Organisational skills, polite young team of staff who showed good communication skill and practical common sense, was fabulous to watch and so was the Team work. Food also excellent , good choice, good price and well presented. (We all cook well and buy good food, so not easy to please!!) Well done all round I say!!! We will continue to visit. Thank you all.

This is such an excellent venue for many occasions, not just the special ones but for many other lovely lunches. The ambiance is superb, the service is first class, the welcome most warm, and the food well......fabulous!! Simply excellent, quantities are really very good, choice of menu extensive and cater for such a wide taste and the chef most accommodating particularly for gluten free and other dietary requirements. Located in a quiet off main road setting with a most attractive view over the fields and would be very suitable for a large party celebration and ideal for weddings; having a special setting and a great outside seating area Could not praise this restaurant any more; simply excellent.

We arrived as some of the first guests on a Tuesday night after pre booking. We were shown to a holding area where we were served drinks by a rather surly waitress/barmaid owners wife? I'm not sure, but what I am sure about is her reluctance to smile once during our visit. The menus and specials were barked at us, no recommendations given, no warmth, no 'good evenings', a bit like ordering in your local greasy spoon. We waited to be seated after ordering in the holding area, the maitre d/owner was flustered. A cocktail was not properly put together we sent it back he looked stressed and made a few cutting remarks. Service with a grimace. This continued for most of the night, drinks orders were taken abruptly by the owners partner and it was only when we switched to another young waitress that there was some effort at service, friendly smile, politeness. I ordered pheasant, it was suspiciously thermo nuclear hot, straight from the microwave and was tougher than the times cryptic crossword. Man it was tough, and had very odd bitter notes just unpleasant. The table also ordered steak an ale pie which was a risible interpretation of a pie. An undercooked pastry lid and very very tough 'steak'. Panna cotta was delicious when deserts arrived, a saving grace but on the whole hugely disappointing. What I was expecting was a friendly service with locally well cooked produce, what I got was totally the opposite. We all agreed we would never visit again and I suggest you don't either, save your money and the stress eat elsewhere.

Had lunch today with friends who are regulars, this was our first time but won't be the last. Food was excellent, as a veggie there is not as big a choice as for meat or fish eaters but I chose the filo veggie basket and it was lovely. The brie starter was good also but the lemon tart was the best I've tasted. My companions meals all looked delicious and there were empty plates all round. My husband is now sleeping his off!. The service was very good, just enough time in between courses and although we took our time over our meal we didn't feel rushed to finish. We are already planning our next visit.

Arriving at almost 1930hrs on a Wednesday evening for dinner, we were warmly welcomed in a lounge area, and reviewed the menu. We were soon seated, and our order was taken. All three courses were well presented and tasty, using obviously top-quality ingredients. The staff were friendly and efficient, and the venue had a lively yet very amenable atmosphere; all the diners were clearly enjoying their meals. We are looking forward to returning for lunch in the future.

Lovely location, smart place inside and out. Afternoon tea was disappointing. Very little to eat, need more sandwiches and better quality bread. The bread was tiny without crusts, and we have had tea at Harrogate and London and the bread is a different type, and you are stuffed. Wish I could say the same for Manleys, we were all hungry, and our teapot was not refilled .

Went for lunch with friends and took advantage of their fixed price 3 course lunch menu. The menu was extensive and had a good variety to suit all tastes with many specials for starter, main course and dessert. Excellent ambiance, attentive staff. Good value for money.

My husband had booked a private room for 21 people for lunch today for my 70th birthday . The staff are well organized ,friendly and knowledgable .The setting is rural open countryside with a superb terrace . The menu is extensive and the food superb ,cooked to everyone's taste . The service is really good and definitely the best restaurant around .There were a few people in our party who were not familiar with this place and all said they would be back .

Easy access in the Midlands. Wonderful rural setting. Patio with panoramic views. Modern and comfortable. Warm and attentive management and team welcome. Great food and service. Staff all calm and professional throughout a wedding and several party celebrations and also smaller groups to cater for. Good menu but quite limited vegetarian/vegan choice but think this can be tailored for your preferences. Whether you want a quiet meal or a party event I would recommend this place .

This restaurant was recommended and we were delighted. Lovely location. Good menu choices and many specials. Staff excellent. Service level excellent, food superb. We did the lunch offer of a 25% discount. Cannot beat the price. Will be coming again.

Our first visit to this restaurant and the experience was a delight, the setting is beautiful, the service faultless and the food was fantastic, a small but varied menu gave us no problem in choosing. Fish cakes and smoked Mackerel to start, confit of duck leg and pheasant for mains and nice puddings. The price was remarkable, I won't give an amount but we were very pleased.

I would score this restaurant 6 out of 5, if I could; it is as near perfection as you can get. We booked Sunday lunch for 16 to celebrate our Golden Wedding. The menu had a very good choice and all our guests thoroughly enjoyed their meal and said how good it was; the quality of the food and presentation is excellent and I simply don't know how they managed to serve 16 different meals at the same time without some being cold. The restaurant is set in very pleasant surroundings, the staff were friendly and attentive and we were made to feel welcome. The cost of the meal was very reasonable for the service we received. I would recommend this restaurant if you are planning a similar occasion - you won't regret it - but you will need to book early because it's very popular for Sunday lunches.

Food Superb, Service Outstanding, we look forward to returning in the near future. How nice to find somewhere that is absolutely faultless.

Me and my family went to the restaurant for food last week and really enjoyed it.

We thought we would try the Old Schoolhouse after many years.

We were a party of 12 for Sunday Lunch. We were welcomed immediately and shown to our table. We had time to welcome our guests and drinks were served. The timing for taking our orders and serving the food were perfect. The staff were very friendly efficient and quietly attentive to our needs. The food was excellent with a good variety of choice. We would certainly recommend The School House Weeford.

Having been regulars to this restaurant in the mid eighties we decided to take a long overdue trip back for lunch taking advantage of their excellent midweek deal.

Having been to this restaurant several times before decided to arrange Sunday lunch for the family on the occasion of a special birthday December 30th .

On the 28th of this month my partner and I were Wed at the School House and had our wedding breakfast in Manleys, There are insufficient words in the English language to describe the quality of service and attention to detail paid by the staff to our party of nearly 50 people. Simply outstanding. The canapés were delicious ( beware of the slow cooked pork....If i'd been left with a plate of that I would have been a very happy man ) and the main courses were beautiful ( the lamb shank seemed to be the most popular but the Hake and Chicken dishes were equally as gorgeous ). I cannot thank the staff enough for making this most important occasion absolutely perfect and I wouldn't hesitate in giving my unreserved recommendation to their establishment and services.....once again Thank You.

Warm welcome by friendly, professional staff. Our pre-ordered food was very tasty, we didn’t feel rushed and were able to stay at our table for as long as we wanted. We were entertained by the balloon lady, making a dog and a flower, but the highlight had to be David Jones, the magician, who amazed us once again with his wizardry! How does he do it? All in all an excellent meal, thank you.

We were in the marquis and there were 8 of us . We had booked and paid for it a while ago and had advised them that we had one member of the group with special dietary requirements.

Came for a family get together. Great service, lovely food, excellent quality. Melon starter was lovely. Sea bass main was delicious. Sweets of panacotta and key lime pie were first class. Great service by Mary who greeted us. Very friendly and polite. Would visit again.

We were in the pavilion room very tastefully decorated staff friendly, tribute act excellent good atmosphere. The quality of the food was good but plates were luke warm and the vegetables were tepid. The venue was not full and there seemed to be alot of staff on so not sure why this happened, I think they need to work on their timings. A friend of mine regularly visits the restraunt and the pavilion and has never had any issues.

We booked the Meadow Room last Friday for a pre Christmas Family Gathering. Lovely atmosphere, staff very friendly and helpful, in spite of the fact it was a Friday and they were very busy. Food was excellent and how lovely to have hot plates (where appropriate!) as well! We pre-ordered our starter and main courses, starter was served as requested at 7.30pm followed by the main courses at the appropriate time. The menu we had been sent had changed when we came to look at the desserts but there was no issue with choosing from either menu and the price on the menu we had been sent was honoured without question. A lovely evening and we would certainly return.

14 of us went for a Birthday lunch. Being Monday the restaurant opened specially for us and we used one of the smaller rooms.

We have just returned from a family meal at Manleys incidently our first visit to the restaurant.

We popped in after visiting a show earlier today, as always the staff were great and the food was excellent. Given the choice of decent restaurants around tamworth and Lichfield this is by far the best

Went as a party of 10 for an 80th celebration. Good value midweek menu, good choice & quality. Service was also good. Be aware they add a service charge, not sure if that was due to size of party. Pleasant surroundings.

Booked for 19 people to attend and hired a room. I agreed a price which was £19.75 per head. Sadly I was unable to open my email when I arrived. The manager on site told me the price had changed by £3.50 each person. Can you imagine how that felt when I was debating this in front of my guests. He wasn’t very customer friendly at first but, agreed to ask the owner claiming it was a weekend pricing. At no point was I told until I arrived. So if you book a room on the weekend make sure you have the price in writing. Apart from this mess up I felt the place was poorly organised, people allowed to smoke near the front door. Smoke drifting into the restaurant. The toilet was to close the the dinning room and a bad smell came in. We had to shut the door. The bar area was small and people having to pay at the till side first. No soft seating areas and the room felt cramped. I will never go back and deserved a better treatment.

The menu is very varied with a good choice of dishes, the atmosphere is very pleasant, the only criticism I would make they are inclined to rush you, not allowing you a break between each course.

The food here is very nice and the staff are helpful. The parking is a bit tight. The restaurant itself is nice inside, it is modern and tidy.

We recently hired the Wyatt Pavilion for my company's 40th Anniversary party.

Excellent venue for our daughter's wedding. The staff were friendly and very efficient. The food was fabulous and as our guests were multi-cultural coming from Canada, Nigeria and the UK all their needs were well catered for including the various types of food. The pavilion looked beautiful and there was a fantastic atmosphere. A big thank you to all the staff in contributing in making the wedding such a beautiful day that we will always remember.

Had an excellent Sunday lunch 23rd Sept. The food was delicious and the menu was full of choice, excellent. Was very busy so booking I would say is essential. Service was very good and most helpful for whatever was required. Our first visit, but not our hosts so their choice was well received! Highly recommended. Views were lovely and the sun shone so a lovely lunch all round. Certainly return.

Last time we were here was over 25 years ago. Visited to celebrate our 37th wedding anniversary. Booked by telephone and asked for the 25% online discount. Food was really good and service great. 3 course meal with drinks came to less than £60. Will be coming back

I am the manager for the restaurant and believe the afternoon tea is the best in the area, freshly made on the day with pastries And cakes made especially for the vintage style teas.

We had our wedding here yesterday & I couldn’t wish for a better day. It went very smooth from start to finish, tables had been decorated just the way we wanted them. The staff here did a very good job and all so kind. The food here was absolutely amazing & everyone who ate commented on the food and said how amazing it was. The evening entertainment was great, there was a mixture of music for everyone & the bacon & sausage baps were very nice! Everyone here made sure we had the best day here & we did! Thankyou to everyone at The School House for making mine and my now husbands day very special. It’s very appreciated! :)

I am very hard to please, but found this delightful Brasserie so far above average for all the usual reasons, super innovative food professionally served, elegant surroundings with stunning views and a few special ones; a free bottle of water on the table and lovely crockery, ( yes noticeable by it's beauty.)

We had a very enjoyable evening meal here on Saturday. Very pleasant and polite staff, varied menu, and well cooked. We eat here with friends in the week for lunch, and we have had a couple of family birthday meals too, which were enjoyed by all, even if we got a little loud and the kids were definitely ready to go home. We are always made to feel welcome. Thanks will be visiting again soon.

We've eaten here before on 2 family occasions, a wedding anniversary and a family wedding but this was our 1st visit to restaurant just the two of us.

We were a group of 11 and did get a bit noisy.We were in a alcove which was perfect,the staff were excellent even though one was learning.We had a veggie,gluten free and egg allergy among us,this was absolutely no problem and all the options fully explained.

Thank you to Julie & the team @ the school house for making our wedding day so perfect! we had our wedding reception @ the school house for close family and friends, followed by a big party on the evening & our individual needs were catered for every step of the way. The team @ the school house are very professional & strive to make each wedding as individual as possible. We had so many wonderful comments from our guests about how delicious the food was, & menus on the day were a big hit with the daytime guests! The big windows from the pavilion over looking the countryside were absolutely stunning & due to it being a particularly Sunny day in May - views of the countryside surrounding the school house were even more spectacular & all our evening guests could enjoy drinking cocktails outside on the patio whilst taking in the beautiful surroundings & enjoying the party!

Had a family surprise 50th birthday celebration here in the private function room.

Hosted my baby shower here today and just wanted to say what a fantastic day it was. Julie made the booking process really easy and the staff today were really attentive and helpful from start to finish. The afternoon tea was delicious- everyone loved it and there was more than enough to go round- the venue were even kind enough to provide containers to take home the leftover cakes! Beautiful setting- thank you to everyone involved- will recommend to anyone looking for a venue to host an event!

Having married at the School House two years ago, my wife and I decided to have our 2nd anniversary meal at the School House and Manleys Brasserie - to revisit "where it all began".

We hired ‘The Masters Room’ the upstairs private dining room for our parents surprise 30th Wedding Anniversary. The whole process was fantastic. They are easy to communicate with via email which is really handy to not have to call when you have a busy work life as well and they come back fairly quickly with any questions you may have. We found this online and had never been but the photos and price all seemed too good to be true so wanted a visit before we booked just in case but was pleasantly surprised to find that the restaurant was as nicely presented as it appeared online. The area was lovely and secluded, with a lovely view (would make a beautiful intimate wedding with a small chapel over the road). The room was a great size and completely separate from the normal dining area so no onlookers. We were able to come in a few hours earlier to decorate the room of which they were really amenable to things being hung and put everywhere...the host was brilliant and kept updating with the party whilst me and our parents were on our way, he found out which car we would be in and made sure he was outside waiting and directed us to part somewhere that we recognise the other cars and then showed my parents to the room for their surprise which I thought was a great touch! The service and food was amazing, value for money is fantastic, would expect to have paid a lot more and something for everyone. The staff were attentive enough to keep everyone topped up and plates taken away but not too much that they were noticeable and gave us space to enjoy to ourselves. They didn’t come up to pressure people to start paying or to start tidying up our decor, we had the room until midnight but people slowly started to leave from around 10:30 and paid as they left with no issues. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves with not a bad word to say about the restaurant with many commenting that I had done a great job on finding the place. Overall a brilliant night and big thanks to The Old school house, would definitely recommend, and will be back for the normal restaurant in the future.

My first visit and very nice indeed. Had a beautiful meal sea bass lovely with plenty of vegetables ... others had the take and chicken... alll really lovely.

I looked at the Google map, slowly moving my finger across the map in our local area to seek out a new place to visit, and came across this restaurant we haven’t heard of.

I ordered roast Pheasant breast. I needed to return my meal because one of the breast was not cooked due to blood in part of the breast. When my meal came back to me, there was only part of the Pheasant on the plate. It was my birthday so I did not say anything.

A nicely designed and pleasant restaurant in a very pleasant country setting. The food was good value for money especially with the discount of 25% off the food on certain evenings if you mention it at time of booking.

A warm welcome and a wonderful meal for four. Starters, mains, all exceptional quality and good sized portions. Can't comment on deserts, too full to enjoy one. Been many times, always had a value for money experience.

From Boxing Day to Friday night dinners, we have had very tasty meals and excellent service. Always plenty of choice for discerning diners and the chef is very happy to accommodate varying dietary requests. Plenty of potatoes and mixed vegetables to accompany the main course. We like to take advantage of the 25% discount during the week - very good value. This restaurant is on our list of favourites and we return regularly.

Walk in, on a Wednesday, no booking. It was full, mainly average age of 65 all after a discount. Firstly...

We had our wedding here in September and from start to finish everything was brilliant. The venue itself is perfect for a wedding, clean and tidy with lovely views which were excellent for our photographers. The food was 5* as was the choice, we have had many compliments from our guests about the good portion sizes and the top quality food provided. Special thanks to Gary he was fantastic throughout nothing was to much for him and he became a friend and put my mind at ease on the run up to the wedding. I would recommend anyone to have their wedding, parties, or meals here as you will not find better quality and better service. Thanks again for making our day so memorable. We will be back often for meals and other celebrations.

Absolutely fabulous, food was amazing & so well presented, the sweets were delicious & lovely selection. Stunning setting & although it was busy we weren’t sitting on top of the other diners so conversation flowed !! The Ambience was quietly relaxing with no nonsense service from an overworked "waiter". The luncheon menu was broad and inviting and the food cooked to perfection. We accompanied an elderly lady celebrating her 88th birthday. She didn't like the tomato soup which was instantly changed without any fuss. We would imagine that the restaurant becomes busy during the evening with an extended menu and we trust more, but equally caring service. A good venue for a party especially in good weather with good views across Staffordshire countryside. Value was especially good with their weekday lunchtime offer (25% off )during winter months to be asked for at time of booking a table.

We were looking for a restaurant in which to celebrate my partners birthday. We had eaten there before, about 10 years ago, and we enjoyed the experience then so I booked again for this occasion. The premises were excellent and thoroughly modern and staffed by very professional and knowledgeable people of various ages who were most attentive. Service was just right, unhurried in spite of the full restaurant. The food and drinks were well described by the staff and served in a polite manner. My Sunday roast was delicious and my partners vegetarian lunch was selected from an impressive range of well described choices. We will definitely return to sample more of the delicious meals offered, and we will be happy to invite our friends to join us. The price was very reasonable for such an enjoyable experience.

Went here for a 70th birthday lunch on Sunday. We were a party of seven. Pre lunch drinks were ordered in a lovely comfortable lounge while we studied the excellent menu. This comprised around ten different starters and as much choice again for the main meals. Service was excellent. Polite, friendly and helpful staff answered any queries and the food was served in good time. The food was gorgeous. Beautifully cooked, nice and hot and superbly presented. Plenty of it and tasting wonderful. (The wild duck breasts with plum slices in a port wine jus is simply sublime). A good selection of desserts really rounded off an utterly superb meal in all respects. This was a first time visit but it certainly will not be our last. Not a cheap place to eat but certainly well worth the money. For parties of six or more there is a 10% service charge, but this was not begrudged. Well worth it. I can well recommend this eatery because they are certainly on top of their game. Well done Manleys Brasserie This is was a great Sunday Lunch should be.

Ate here yesterday as party of 12 to celebrate a family birthday. First time I had been here. We were seated immeadiately on arrival - in small area just off main bar, entrance so it felt very private. Staff were very efficient and drink orders were taken and arrived very quickly and food orders taken as soon as all party was there. Menus were printed out on A4 with Birthday persons name on top which was a nice touch. Great choice of food for all tastes, and orders taken for all 3 courses. Starters arrived quickly and were delicious. (Soup, melon, garlic bread for children). Staff prompt to remove plates etc so main meal could be served. I had lamb shank (would recommend, cooked perfectly and was delicious). Others had beef and complimented how tasty and plentiful it was. Good assortment of vegetable served alongside mains. Again staff prompt to remove plates ready for desserts which arrived in no time. Staff were constantly checking was food ok, did we want more drinks and getting whatever was required with speed and efficiency. I was very impressed with both food and service from staff who were always very courteous and attentive. Would recommend this and will be returning myself in future.
