We went as a family for Easter Sunday and we had a lovely time. The food was lovely , very reasonably priced , and staff are super friendly. Children are also very welcome and some games and toys available to entertain them if needed - highly recommend Thankyou

Booked in for Sunday Roast at The Sarn. Lunch for 4, and we couldn't fault it.. Excellent food. Excellent service. Beef and Turkey with loads of trimmings. Great price. With 8 choices of dessert!!!. Delicious food served quickly and politely. Sunday lunch... Main courses Beef or Turkey. Being a party of 4 adults... 2 Beef, 2 Turkey all served together at a nice temperature. Drinks reasonable price. We will return to try the weekday menus on offer.

Have not been in this pub for about 20 years. What a change, very clean and tidy. Decor is very pleasant. It has a rural country feel with mix and match of quality furniture and fixings (tastefully done). Lots of little snugs and rooms to explore. Pool table upstairs and beer garden to rear. Did not try the food as only passing. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

A warm friendly welcome for me and my dog which means a lot! Lovely decor and a really delicious meal fresh and cooked to perfection with chic gormet touches accompanied by excellent wine. We will be back! I had lemon cooked salmon served with pea shoots, parsnip curls and fresh veg.

It was our first visit. Beautiful place, doesn’t really look like a typical pub but maybe that’s the point - it’s different! Nice atmosphere and great customer service, our waiter was patient and very helpful. Compliments for the chef - pie and tomahawk were amazing.

We booked at very short notice (1 hour) for a table of 10, including 6 kids, for Sunday lunch and they were very accommodating. The food was excellent, very tender beef and pork, with plenty of vegetable sides. The service was quick and friendly! Would definitely recommend. Good value too!

Excellent pub! We stumbled upon it when heading to Machynlleth and were really impressed; very friendly staff, amazing food and well priced/portioned. Would highly recommend.

Had the pleasure of visiting The Sarn today with friends. We didn’t book but plenty of space. The food was excellent and fantastic value. Our host was friendly and welcoming. We had two babies in our party and were very welcomed. Huge portions and everything felt like quality ingredients, can’t recommend enough.

We’ve been visiting the Sarn for three years, it’s a meeting place for our two families and can’t fault it. The staff have always been so accommodating and friendly and the food is great. We’ve eaten there twice in a week, Sunday lunch and a Saturday lunch. Both fab and the three year old catered for and child sized cutlery provided too. If the home made fish finger sandwiches are on the menu, you won’t be disappointed! A nice touch was that the three year old had home made fries while the rest of us had the chunkier home made chips, delicious! The sweets are awesome, some served with home made ice cream. 😊 Looking forward to visiting again soon.

Basically good food and drink, with efficient and friendly service in attractive surroundings. All you look for when going out for a meal. Certainly recommended.

Menu is nothing like the photos. Lunch very poor. Steak on bread very tough, frankfurter was a poor quality sausage cut into 4 pieces with slimy onions. Chips pale poor quality. No tomato juice or Worcester sauce from bar, no salt and pepper and when asked 3 tiny packets came, no brown sugar for coffee. Service very slow. This lunch was not cheap £1.1 and £13 per very poor dish. Not worth a visit.

We were travelling as two couples and we called in here for lunch as the only place we could find that was open. The place is clean and bright and tables are well spaced. We were seated quickly but sadly the service was then pretty poor. The lady serving us said she was just helping out - fair enough - but she did not know what wine they had and there was no drinks menu so we had no idea of prices etc.. Eventually I went up to the bar to find out what was available and ordered a house red, but still no indication of price. We gave our orders after short delay but nearly an hour after we had arrived we still had no food. Other tables who had arrived after us were being served. When we eventually asked where our food was, we were told that the other tables "were eating salads so it was quicker for them". However, at least one of the diners on the next table had fish and chips and cooked dishes were being served on the other tables too. It was clear that either our inexperienced waitress had not put our order in or the kitchen had overlooked it. Of course these things happen and we would have understood if they had been honest, but to try and fob us off was very disappointing. When the food came, the prawn cocktail was delicious and very good value. The steak sandwich was OK but sat on a slice of dry white sliced bread - not what you would expect at £13.95. The other two dishes were "Rik's hot dawgs" which sounded very substantial and tempting for our hungry husbands. Sadly the single sausage was very small, the size you would get on a children's menu. The dish was hugely overpriced at £10.95. So, with one exception, disappointing and overpriced food, poor service and an hour's wait for food. So, we won't be back!!

Very nice Pub. I looked at buying the Lease. The Lease was a fair price but asking rent is not justified by the turnover. I would jump in if the rent was reduced in the first year.

Had a lovely afternoon at The Sarn. Everything was in place regarding Caronavirus. We were greeted at the door by a very friendly young lady who welcomed us in. The Sarn has been beautifully renovated, we felt very comfortable. We ate outside in the sunshine (hopefully not the last this summer). The service was excellent, the food was delicious. Thank you all so much for a lovely afternoon.

We visited last night . My husband had vegetable soup for starters and I had the house salad - excellent Mains were beef stroganoff- outstanding! Desserts - I had Eton mess which was excellent, husband had a chocolate mousse which he said was very good but a little bitter . Service was excellent, surroundings excellent. Exceptionally clean , all social distancing measures in place. Would highly recommend

Had Sunday lunch with friends who recommended it, very disappointed. The place is lovely, decor really compliments the pub, but, food was really poor, had pork Sunday dinner which stated on the menu it came with crackling. No crackling came with the dinner, I had to ask to be told the chef hadn’t got any!!! 2 very thin slices of pork with more fat than meat, roast potatoes were hard. The apple sauce was brown again it must have been stood a few days and turned colour. The veg came just one dish for four people, the red cabbage was very very soft, mangetout looked insipid was over cooked or cooked the previous day and warmed up. Another person had beef which looked extremely dry and had no flavour. Pudding was awful, a choc pot that had obviously been in the fridge for a couple of days as the strawberries on top were all dried up and it had a mango and ginger compote, this was a brown goo which only tasted of ginger and did not look or taste like mango. One of the party removed it from his pudding as the look of it was off putting. Again this must of been in the fridge a few days and had turned brown like the apple sauce. One person had the Pannacotta which again looked dried up round the edges as if it had been in the fridge for days. Totally disappointed on taste presentation and portion size regarding the pork. Another meal was chicken breast with a sauce, the chicken was extremely dry, not freshly cooked and the sauce must have been warmed separately and just plonked on top of the chicken. Left very disappointed felt I had wasted money. Will not return or recommend. At least if they had come and said sorry there is no crackling although it is stated on the menu, it was missing and nobody had the decency to mention it, we had to ask, And I wouldn’t have served dried up puddings.

My family booked in for a Sunday lunch whilst staying locally on holiday. The food and service was excellent and couldn't fault it. Myself and my son had the beef, my wife went for the pork and when we asked for something different from the menu for our young daughter (plain chicken, no sauces) they were very accommodating. She eat the lot and said it was the second best she'd ever had (Nanny's chicken is No.1!!) Believe me, this is high praise indeed. The beef and pork were perfectly cooked with the most rich gravy, with good Yorkshire's and crackling/apple chutney accompanying. There was plentiful cooked veg, colourful and crisp served on the side. Nothing was left. I had the Mixed Berry Eton Mess for dessert. Scrumptious. This pub deserves to be busier than it was for Sunday lunch, having eaten at a couple of other local establishments The Sarn was definitely the best. Excellent value for money too.

Just been for an amazing homemade Sunday lunch here cooked by Chef Harris. The staff were very friendly & accommodating. Definitely worth a visit or a nice drive out to on a Sunday afternoon. We’ll be back to sample the mid-week menu.

We have had great meals here, the staff are so friendly and welcoming and our dog loved visiting too. Would definitely recommend!

I visited The Sarn recently and was very disappointed with the meal. First there were changes to the menu because the kitchen had run out. Secondly the beef and gammon was tough. Thirdly the menu was very limited and uninspiring. Having always praised The Sarn I was in disbelief at the mediocrity. The staff as usual very pleasant and courteous.

Went for a meal with friends and ended up taking part in a great pub quiz. The service was very friendly and warm. Not a huge choice on the menu, but what was on it was very good quality. Could have done with some pads on the wooden chairs as they weren't very comfortable after a couple of hours.

This a welcoming pub/restaurant with friendly and helpful staff. They provide an a la carte menu with a fair choice of good quality dishes. To attract more frequent returning clientele they should perhaps consider offering some 'prix fixe' set menu options.

First time we have visited for dinner. One of the best meals we have had in the area for a very long time. Amazing food, freshly prepared and cooked, great service with great staff. Highly recommended.

A small group of us came in after a very long walk. The four of us had the hot pot and the portion was tiny. It was supposed to have a variety of vegetables but I could only see peas swimming around a very thick gravy. The cubes of lamb were on the large size but they were attached to a lot of fat. Overall, very disappointing meal, not what I would expect for a £12-00 meal.

We are staying in Sarn for a week and decide to try the Sarn for breakfast.

Tuesday night meal for 4 . Brilliant, good friendly service. Couple of pints of a guest ale and house wine . Pie of the week pork and apple , perfect pastry and very very tasty 2off and 2 sausage and mash followed by 3 puddings couldn’t fault anything 10 out of ten . Thanks.

Came here on a visit to the Welsh ploughing match, popped in for some food and we received a really warm welcome. The food was absolutely amazing! Braised liver was that good we could both of ordered it again, instead we settled for brownie and a cheesecake, which again was really lovely. We would both go for a visit again!

When guests are staying for a while this is a great local place to take them - especially for the full breakfast. Afternoon Tea and dinner are also good with the specials menu often including Rics home reared pork in some guise or other. Delicious

Just visited here for an evening meal after a brief visit at lunchtime. The food was 10/10, the service 10/10 and the environment was beautiful. During the day the little gift/plant shop is fab and has some gorgeous gifts/plants. Had cake and coffee-divine.

My partner and I have food allergies and intolerances . Basically awkward b#*gers.

This place is lovely and very clean, however, the food is poor. I had pork madras and it didn’t look like a curry and definitely didn’t taste like a curry I could have done better myself. Pork tasted synthetic overall very disappointing, will not be returning for food.

We were staying in Kerry for a Stag party (a little more civilised these days due to our age!) We booked and pre-ordered the evening before and though we'd requested an outside dining area, the weather wasn't on our side and they had reserved us an area upstairs as well. Elli greeted us and was polite, friendly and professional at all times even going as far as to book us taxis to head into Newtown after the meal. Everyone was very happy with both the food and drink - the fish and chips one of the best I've had. Great little place with great food and drink.

Had a very enjoyable lunch, ciabatta with salad has they had run out of crisps we were asked if we would like chips ,they were to die for .As the restaurant was full downstairs we sat upstairs very peaceful and lovely atmosphere.The staff were extremely helpful and friendly nothing was too much trouble for them .we will be back again and again .

Such a nice place to visit - highly recommended. And the shop and plant centre really add to the overall experience. The menu could perhaps offer a few more dishes but it’s all cooked freshly.

Myself and my partner called in this evening for supper. I have to say that we were not impressed. The menu was quite limited, but we did manage to choose something. I went for the steak and ale pie, I had fancied a steak but there was only rump on the menu and at £16.95 for an 8 oz, I thought it was a tad on the pricey side for such a cut, I also noted that it was not served with mushrooms so I asked if I could order some but was told no. My partner ordered the vegetable thai curry. When the food arrived it was nicely presented and looked very appetising, however when I further investigated my meal I discovered that the pie was not as it had been described; I was expecting 'steak and ale' but it appeared to be lots of diced potato and what appeared to be cubed beef, cut from a leftover joint of beef, not seared, browned steak as I had expected. .... mainly potato and carrots, very disappointing! The Thai curry was ok but nothing special. Overall meal, such a shame, the restaurant was also empty apart from us and the food took 40 mins to arrive, we were not in a rush but were quite hungry, shall not be returning any time soon

My husband and I stopped off at this great restaurant on our way back from a weekend in Betws-y-Coed. Having rung to book a table we were so pleased that the owner was able to accommodate us last minute. The interior was very clean and modern and all of the staff on duty were friendly and the service was first class. The menu was to die for - we were spoilt for choice but decided to order the roast beef brisket and roast pork. It was truly exceptional so much so that my husband had to order another portion as he had never tasted beef so flavoursome and tender. The yorkshire puddings were just like you have at home and had obviously just come straight out of the oven and the freshly cooked roast potatoes and vegetables just complimented our meal. The homemade bread and butter pudding was just amazing and we just can't wait to return as this is without doubt one of our favourite restaurants. Thank you to everyone for making our visit so memorable.

I called in here recently after a very long hill walk along the Kerry Ridgeway from near Craven Arms and was met with exemplary hospitality as I got a drink and awaited my wife to collect me in the car for home. The barmaid was warm, friendly, relaxed and very professional and allowed a tired, dishevelled and thirsty walker to enjoy some vital rest & recuperation. Places looks great, must come back.
