We visited over a couple of evenings for drinks and on one night stayed for supper. The interior is very pleasant and cosy, especially when the fire 🔥 is lit. Staff are friendly and helpful. The menu contains the usual pub dishes, and portions are huge. We had the milder home made curry which was very tasty - though one was a little cold. All in all a good place to spend an evening. A wider range of starters would be good moving forward.

Would just like to say a huge thank you to the staff at this hotel. We brought our dog for a little holiday and couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. Staff were all amazing. Food was gorgeous and breakfast was huge! Shame it rained heavily the whole time as we would have loved to find Gelerts grave. Would definitely book here again!

Bearing in mind how busy Beddgelert was, on a lovely warm summer's day, this place was almost empty. The staff were lovely, but the food wasn't anything special for the sky high lunchtime prices. I imagine this place would be heaving if lunch prices were a few pounds cheaper.

Spent two nights in this dog-friendly hotel, needed a defibrillator after negotiating the stairs to “Rupert” room, which in all fairness, was spotlessly clean, and well appointed., though small. The weather was very hot during our stay, and unfortunately, the old sash window wouldn’t open at the top and we were afraid to open it too wide at the bottom because we had our dog with us - therefore, ventilation in the room wasn’t brilliant and we were uncomfortably hot, worsened when we went to bed under the winter tog duvet! (Are hotels unaware that summer duvets exist?) The first night was totally sleep-deprived - the light on the tiny landing outside our door was illuminating our room at regular intervals throughout the night as it apparently (according to a member of staff who my husband spoke to) has a faulty sensor, and apart from the light waking us, it was causing our diligent, little guard dog to bark, as he thought we were under attack! We were advised to put a towel at the bottom of the door where this faulty light was shining through the gap - but by our second night, we were so tired (dog included) we could have slept through a blitz! Breakfast was lovely, loads of choice, large portions, and served by a very pleasant, obliging young lady. We never sampled the evening dinner choices because on our second night when we wanted to eat there, we were told there would be a 45 minute wait, and by that time the kitchen would have closed for the night. The staff here (when they were around) were pleasant and obliging, allowing us to keep our dog’s sealed food containers in one of the fridges. We love Beddgelert and the Snowdonia area - but would we stay at the Saracens Head again? Well maybe - but certainly not in Rupert room.

I came to visit this Village and ordered two beef burgers and a cider. The moment the waiter brought my food, I noticed a fried fly right on my burger. The waiter saw it, and I told him that my companion and I couldn't eat the food anymore because seeing that scene made us nauseous. I asked for a refund, but unfortunately, they rudely ignored us. After half an hour, all the kitchen and floor staff attacked us, saying they couldn't refund our money. They all attacked me so aggressively that I had to record the incident with my phone for my own protection. They falsely claimed that we were sitting outside and that the fly landed on the food afterward, even though the fly was clearly fried in oil along with the onion rings. They refused to refund our money, and I had to call the police. The rude, impolite, and aggressive behavior of the staff was truly astonishing. In the end, they didn't refund our money, and I will definitely pursue this matter to the end. I am a restaurant manager myself, and I was truly shocked by such unethical behavior.

Meh. Fairly low quality at high prices. Arrived on a Saturday afternoon at about 3, a long wait at the bar, although it was not busy around the building; clearly understaffed. At least 8 people were in a queue with only one young lad behind the bar. £11.90 for two pints. The beer was served in the wrong glasses which must have been un-renovated, so it went flat quite quickly. We had some chips; they were okay, but it was a shame that only non-branded sauces were available, such as low-quality ketchup and mayo. All in all, we went in for a few drinks, had one, and left. That sums it up. Pricey drinks i could live with, i understand supply and demand in a nice area. However, the poor service and lack of warmth from the staff let the place down.

I'm not sure what's happened over the May bank holiday weekend but service is shocking - food not being served after 7pm on the Saturday evening and no food at 20 past 6 on Sunday ebening. Tables absolutely littered with glasses, almost none at the bar. A nearby table complaining that only one out of three people on their table had ended up with their food. The interior of the pub is lovely and obviously in a beautiful location, but clearly struggling with staffing issues.

Even gave us a extra heater to help dry waterproofs. Zoe at front desk, was lovely and welcoming and helped us with any problems. Liz at breakfast was amazing, and even made the dogs a breakfast each of sauasges and biscuits. All the staff were very welcoming and chatty. And the hotel is very dog friendly. Its in a amazing area right night to the mountains and near the sea. The food was brilliant... burger was a big winner. And breakfast was yum . Weekend away with friends who i’ve not seen for 6 months. Arrived COVID rules out the way. Wasn’t asked to track and trace - did this myself. Staff without masks on. Customers stood at the bar ordering drinks. Sat at the table ordered drinks, all drinks bar one arrived. Ordered food and requested the missing drink. Ordered 2 sides to come with mains. About 5 mins later server walks out with the 2 sides and no mains. We asked where was the mains and the sides were took away and told it was going to be fresh. 2 of us ordered pasta which stated had mozzarella in and chilli, last came with tomato sauce and was cold. We then asked where the cheese was and another lady came over and was extremely rude stating we had requested ‘extra cheese’, we then told the server we didn’t want the pasta as it wasn’t what was described - I then didn’t request anything else as the food was just shocking. My other friend ordered a steak. Another friends meal still hadn’t come after asking many times and the response was ‘it won’t be long’ after 15 mins of everyone having their food and finishing it the burger came out ... no apology. The steak came around 10/15 mins later and was the wrong steak, we ate it as we really just wanted to go home as the evening had really been well and truly ruined by the staff. Asked for the bill which still had the pasta on even though we sent it back? The server wasn’t happy and i could understand his anger but on the flip side he had contributed to ruining our evening. We eventually paid and left, I then had to go to the pizza takeaway to eat as I hadn’t eaten all evening. A real disappointment and won’t be retuning.

Very friendly staff but really average food highlighted by an extremely overcooked burger that nearly broke my teeth . Thanks to the waiter for knocking off £1.30 off my £13 burger as an apology but really you should have been paying me to eat it. in fact i should have sent it back as soon as it arrived which couldnt have been anymore than 5 minutes after ordering - clearly one burger that had been sitting on the grill for at least 15 minutes before we'd even ordered. First visit my steak was full of gristle and my wife's pork ribs were tough. To be frank wouldn't have gone back but such a limited choice at the moment in Beddgelert and as the first meal was OK it still fulfilled an option. on a positive on the second visit my wifes Sea Bass was nicely cooked. Annoyingly and i found a little bizarre on both occasions the waiters insisted on reading out, for all to hear, every item you'd ordered and the total price when presenting the bill. We got to know what our fellow diners liked to drink, how much they like to drink, what food they had had and how much they had spent..

Good curb appeal, nice seating outside and good that it’s dog friendly.Unfortunately that’s the few positives. The food was dreadful especially when you are paying those prices and the service was equally as bad. We ordered fish and chips which had two big pieces of frozen watery fish and was then advised they had run out of tartare sauce (which it was supposed to come with). They had also ran out of mayonnaise and ketchup but was eventually offered BBQ sauce. Beer was nice (£5 a pint). The service was slow and unorganised and what was supposed to be a quick lunch turned into a whole afternoon waiting for menus, drinks, food and the bill. Eventually upon paying we noticed they had not applied their advertised ‘eat out to help out scheme up to a maximum of £10 per person’. We were told it was because our bill was under £40. Which was frustrating as if we were told we could have ordered starters and got the offer. Our details were not taken for track and trace. We haven’t eaten out at the alternative restaurants in Beddgelert but please try ANY of the other ones.

We had to go to the bar and and see what drinks we wanted and then go back to the front to order, then go back to the bar to wait for a drinks. While we were waiting for our drinks another customer poured himself a Guinness and necked it at the bar before leaving(the staff knew)!! Me and my friend both got a bottled cider(Orchard Gold) which were not cold and were overpriced compared to other places near by. On the table we sat at outside there were still glasses and some banana peels from previous customers, although I wouldn’t normally be fussed by an uncleared table I don’t think it is very covid-conscious to allow people to sit on one!

Had lunch here and I think the serving staff were a little overwhelmed and undertrained. We had the burgers, which were fine but a bit pricey for what they were and the chips were certainly very average. We didn’t get the burgers we ordered as the person taking the order made a mistake. For pudding I ordered the tangy lemon tart with blackcurrant sorbet. It wasn’t particularly tangy and instead of a delicate sorbet it was loaded with what appeared to be berry jam. I was not very impressed. This was not helped when the waitress apologised and told me it was a shame as the blackcurrant sorbet is really nice. I’d go somewhere else rather than here, until they can get to grips with the volume and train the staff.

Leading to a phone call to cancel the booking of the online guest only to start laughing uncontrollably at his surname on the phone. Beddgelert had suffered the worst flash food in living memory just three days before our visit. But the Saracens Head was open. We arrived at about 1.00.pm Friday and were greeted by Zoe the duty manager who was friendly and personable. We were taken to a table where we were served by Max a student from California. He was also very friendly and quickly struck up a lovely rapport with my wife and I. We were due to have a full evening meal later elsewhere and so only had a snack. Both of us ordered Welsh Rarebit and coleslaw which was served very quickly. This is a licensed premises which is doing it’s very best to ride from the ashes of lockdown and apart from failing to ‘track and trace’ all other pandemic protocols were in place. We had a lovely lunchtime and wish Zoe and her staff well - (Zoe had helped some of them get home on Tuesday wading in a human chain through waist deep floodwater). They deserve success.

On a recent visit to Beddgelert and struggling to find somewhere for a coffee break inside we were directed to the Saracens Head on the main road through Beddgelert. From the outside the building looked promising, well maintained and modern with an outside area across the road next to the River. We chose to go inside due to the inclement weather. On entering the premises we discovered that it was very dark and to say the least rather grubby. As we only wanted a drink and maybe a small bite to eat we decided to give it a try and were shown to a table for 4 next to the reception area. The menu wasn't promising and only drinks were ordered 4 in total, 1 metre, 1 capachino, 1 Americano and one tea. After a wait of some 10 minutes the Americano arrived followed 5 minutes later by the latte and then another 5 minutes before the capachino and then a further 5 minutes before the tea which on arrival was cold and presented with an obviously dirty cup and saucer which we returned. The staff were unable to communicate properly due to a lack of spoken English (no fault of their own and whilst we were present a female who appeared to be in charge was rude and aggressive towards them. Prior to leaving a trip to the toilet was required. I was shocked by how dirty they were and the condition of them. There looked to be brown mould on the walls and both the radiator and hand dryer were very very rusty. My wife suggested that the ladies toilets were no better. It is a long time since I have visited an establishment that has been this poor in standards and my advice to anyone considering a visit would be to give it a miss. A big no no I would say. And by the way. They are dog friendly and serve doggy meals. No thanks.

Stay clear. Seemed like a very stressed atmosphere. No one knew what was going on. We booked a table. But we were left to our own devices. We had to find a server to order food, drinks and cutlery. Starter came, lettuce looked sad, frozen and missing cranberry. Mains came, salad for the Ceaser salad was iceberg lettuce and chopped tomatoes nothing much else. My partner had the £17 burger which was dry and was just a mess. We had to find a server for our cutlery which left our food cold. Asked the server if we could have tomato ketchup and more wine...he didn't come back or the original waiter. We gave up and didn't eat the food. I think weatherspoons has better quality food/service. Seemed like everyone around us had problems too. As a large group (15) we were thankful for the accommodating staff, especially on such short notice. Zoe was very friendly and took it in her stride. They seemed to get the whole groups meals out at a reasonable pace and all together. I can say that the mushroom risotto was tasty. As there was a couple of vegetarians in our group we were impressed with the six vegan and veggie options. We were staying in the village, so a few of us also returned for Sunday lunch. As there was no veggie roast option we were grateful for them creating one using the 'garden burger' patty with the usual Sunday lunch trimmings. Although, the ones who did have the meat roasts commented that the gravy was a little strange; more like a soup rather than the usual gravy, which some enjoyed, some not so much.So in summary – good, friendly service and okay pub grub.

Met another couple in the same pub who did the same- bailed from their room like us.~ Ditto at breakfast- freezing cold dining area and when mentioned to staff was told "It's winter you know!!"~ Even though the room was decorated nicely there was mould on the bathroom walls, no plug in the sink and the tops of the taps were missing- bizarre. This place would be great to stay in summer, perhaps avoid at colder times of the year. Food has very mixed reviews.

How upsetting to come back to a hotel we visited before to enter a lounge where every table but one was covered in plates food scraps and used glasses. The staff whilst friendly made no attempt to clear any of the tables so strange and not over busy . Can’t comment on food as we left maybe a bad day at the office?

They managed to squeeze us in which we were thankful for. The gluten free options were confusing as the menu suggests there's very little, but the waitress was helpful in finding out from the kitchen more details and there were actually many more options. Food was a bit disappointing, but seeing the other food being brought out, it looked like there were some better options.

The fact that most places were closed for the season, we were pleased to get a reservation here for dinner. That turned out to be the best part of the evening.Service was slow, our appetizers (mine was stuffed mushrooms) tasted like a pre-made frozen app they buy and heat up. When the waiter cleared the plates, he reached over the table, scraped food onto one plate and piled everything up so he could remove it in one go, crashing and banging china as he worked.Food did not improve, I can’t even say it was mediocre, with a glass of wine to accompany the main course of one guest never delivered. When we mentioned it, the waiter ran and brought it out even though he had cleared the main course dishes.Ordered the apple pie and custard sauce for dessert and it had obviously been microwaved and the custard sauce made from a mix, like Bird’s Custard Powder. To top everything off, when we were paying the bill, they chose to charge it in US$ on our card, with an outrageous exchange rate.Altogether a horrible evening. Would never eat here again.

We decided to head out for something to eat after a long day exploring and walking up/down snowdon, and stumbled across ‘Saracens Head’ it looked lovely from the outside and had a cosy interior. We opted for the ‘Ribeye Steak’ and ‘Mountain Steak Burger’. On arrival to the table the burger was less than disappointing, the ‘actual burger’ was luke warm, the chicken cold, the bacon cold, the burger bun stale, the cheese non melted. I brought this to the waitresses attention, and she stated she would return it the kitchen and a fresh one would be made, to my amazement 4 minutes later another burger appears - pretty quick for something that made fresh! This time the top of the chicken/burger etc was hot-ish but the underside cold - it has very clearly been deconstructed and put under a grill as this time round the cheese was melted to within an inch of it life, one onion ring was piping hot and one stone cold, and the bacon crunchier than crunchy. I politely said the to what I now know to be ‘supervisor’ that it was still not hot, and most certainly not ‘fresh’ - she became very defensive and told me that she had watched the chefs cook it ‘fresh’ with her own eyes (while my food was being cooked she was actually pottering around the bar) and that the best she can do is just give us 10% off the bill. I tried to explain that the principle is it’s cold, and asked her herself to ‘feel’ it - she obviously refused this heaven forbid it was actually luke warm and she’d have to agree. During our less than impressive yet extremely overpriced meal, we could hear the supervisor moaning about us to every tom, dick and harry. The chef then appeared and she made a point of highlighting very loudly that they’d received lots of compliments on the food and not to worry about us because she will be giving us the bill and that is what we will be paying - we never said we weren’t going to pay. She went on to elaborate on how she is sure this will end up on trip advisor because people never post the good do they. Now, you are right, this has ended up on trip advisor because the food was less than impressive, it was incredibly over priced and your attitude was awful. You made us feel incredibly uncomfortable and we couldn’t wait to get out, we obviously decided not to have dessert/coffee as we didn’t want to waste yet more money on overpriced less than mediocre food. We received 10% of our bill which was about £4.50, it came under the heading of 10% Locals - I’m glad you look after your locals because you’ll need them!

Been here a few times. All I can say is the atmosphere is quite nice and the staff are friendly and very attentative. However food isn't great. It's ok if your tired from walking all day and you need something to eat, but if you are looking for something more refined do don't bother. Little bit expensive for below average food.

We had eaten here in the past and really enjoyed it. We ordered a Antipasti Platter at £17.95 as a shared starter. Most of it needed to be eaten with bread and it only came with a few slices, so we asked for more bread. When the bill came, we had been charged an extra £3.95 for the bread. The food was very good, the waitresses were lovely, but they were very short staffed and our main dishes arrived before our starters and plates had been cleared. Then we had no cutlery, etc. It is dog friendly, but when we next return to the area, we will not eat here again.

The Worst meal I've ever had i wouldn't have fed this so called Sunday lunch to rats let alone a dog. it resembled a a frozen ready meal but they don't taste as bad as that. the Yorkshires was the best thing on the plate so thank you aunt Betsy the gravy was orange and didn't taste like gravy the broccoli and colli was fresh shame they forgot to cook it. when they asked about how my meal was i remarked on how hard broc and colli she simply said is it to andante, i felt insulted especially as the rest of the meal was mush i did eat some of the meal to give in a good chance to redeem its self, I Didn't want to pay for it however i felt i should (didn't want steal) so went to pay i was asked again how was my meal was i said terrible and explained she old me the the chefs have been told but as there not English and i don'y think she meant welsh either, she said what can she do as she has told the owner and and what-else can she do I REPLIED EITHER TAKE ROAST OFF THE MENU. SHE SAID THEY WOULDN'T DO THIS OR SACK THE CHEF. I Was given a measly 10% off that was the best she could do, i took it left feeling RIPPED OFF ate here 8/9/19 I'd Never eat here again.

It was nice to have a drink out the front of the pub in the nice weather.

Friendly and quick service but the food was not enjoyable. Our chips were undercooked and the peas overcooked. The side of vegetables was a pitifully small bowl of (what seemed to be) frozen veg that was now limp. Sadly, not a good eating experience.

Came here for dinner, what a mistake. Booked a table for three, they had reserved a table for two. Wrong drink order. The waitress didn’t know the menu. Meals we had were the steak and the burger. The steak was ordered medium rare, came out rare. We had asked for no chips with one of the meals and instead swap to a salad. They proceeded to charge extra for a side salad, when challenged the waitress became very defensive and insisted she had explained this. The burger patty was not homemade. Was meant to come with a salad, there was one wilted lettuce leaf on stale buns with chips that tasted like freezer burn. The number of times we heard the word ‘sorry’ in the restaurant confirmed our unfortunate meal was not isolated and others had issues.

Came in for some lunch after walking snowden, service was amazing can’t fault that, unfortunately the food was poor. We ordered roasts and the food was awful! The gravy was like greasy veg water that had a grease film, the veg was raw and hard and the potatoes were boiled not as per the ‘roast’ on the description and unfortunately the Yorkshire puddings were clearly frozen ones! Being that the roasts were £13-14.75 very disappointing!

It was a delightful sunny friday evening when myself and fellow gentlemens decided to give this place a try! Being a big group of about 13 of us they said yes and we were so happy and gay about it. So for that, 5 stars. They were so accommodating to us and took our orders. The orders started flying out and wow it tasted great and was worth the wonga we paid. But then the devil appeared within the eyes of the waitress when she bought out the dreaded Lamb Cawl. None of us had ordered this delicious brothy bowl of goodness and she was not happy, automatically blaming us for the mistake made while the food had been requested at the counter. A very rude response from her thinking we ordered something and then changed our minds. Well she came out about 15 minutes later to then ask what two members of group wanted. Which we asked for the original items, to her response saying 'No sir, what do you want' in quite a patronising way. Well we finally got the orders and then magically two other dishes appeared at our table, we did say none of us had ordered them but the waitress said she doesn't care we can just have it. Anyway food tasted good but they couldn't run a bath but we had a good laugh with the waitress Louise who was really nice to us but no free beer.

Restaurant empty but numerous tables showed as reserved. Took an age to get served even though they were not busy. Menu not bad and we tried the steak burgers. When they arrived, the burgers were over cooked and rubbery, the bacon was steaky and very fatty. The brioche rolls were dry and seemed stale. We didn’t mentioning it to staff, we just won’t return.

We visited the Saracens Head on a Sunday afternoon for a drink and a meal we arrived about 4:30 and were told that we could not order any food until 6 p.m. so we decided to sit outside and have a drink until 6 p.m. one of our group went to the bar to order drinks which took forever despite only being one or two people in the bar at the time. At 6 we went into the bar restaurants area and after a short while we gave our meals order. Four of our meals arrived within a reasonable time we had to ask for condiments as there are none the table and no one bothered asking .One of the meals was lacking in content as described on the menu we had to ask for potatoes which should have been on the plate we waited for the 5th meal but it never arrived during which time the four other meals began to get cold. We asked one of the staff about the fifth meal but it appeared to have been completely forgotten about. We got the fifth meal eventually and due to the delay did not charge for it.The Sunday roasts were average but the fish and chips better. It's a lovely Hotel but seems to be very shambolic in its organisations .

Just returned after taking sister for her 70th birthday treat at her favourite destination Beddgelert. Saracens Head is in a great location and the decor is lovely. We ate here on our first evening and food was good. We did have a problem with bathroom from first day and a plumber was going to be checking the problem. It did spoil our time here a little bit as not too pleasant a smell. However Dave who I think must be the manager or owner was very apologetic and has offered me a free night if we decide to return which I thought was acceptable, although on reflection maybe it would have been better to just have deducted one nights accommodation as I probably haven’t got the opportunity to return for a while.

We were staying in the village and came here for our evening meal one night. We were disappointed with the menu choice and especially the prices, which, for ordinary pub food were high. One of my friends opted for just soup because she was on a budget. I think I made the best choice with Chicken Caesar salad because at least I felt I'd had a reasonable portion. My other friend ordered a fish cake which arrived with the tiniest bit of salad imaginable - and that was the meal! Needless to say we ate elsewhere in the village on our second night and had a really good value meal. I certainly wouldn't eat her again by choice.

Four of us had a pleasant meal at Saracens Head. Decent pub but what made it for us was Lewis behind the bar. Played an excellent mix of music and was very engaging with customers including us. Lewis also played a few requests and was very knowledgable music wise - it was great chatting to him about music in general and he was spot on with his recommendation of Imelda May’s cover of the Northern Soul classic Tainted Love (which a certain band from Leeds may have covered early 80s too). Regular live music nights are very busy so while generally dog friendly, probably best to avoid taking the dog on live music nights. Thanks Lewis - your happiness was infectious and you made sure our last night in Aberdyfi spent at The Brit was top!

First and last time that I use this place. Over inflated price for two bottles of pop. Can only assume that the extra £1.60 charged , was for the sponsored silence that every customer before and after us was greeted with by the member of staff serving.
