Great place for a great pint, gets loud when the Big Yin and all his Apostles come in....very scruffy group that like to take the piss out of everyone but generally nice lads, beware of Judas though he's a tout.

Well.. where to start. We had come to to see the Whistlin Donkeys at Glasgow Barrowlands. Decided ona wee dram beforehand. It had been nearly 34 years since I had a drink in the old Saracens Head pub as a young Sailor. Without a doubt an old style pub... spit and may be not sawdust on the floor.... but the warm welcome and the Glasgow banter was something else. Forget a modern pub...... and enjoy a blast from the past. A true working man's pub from old. Fantastic. Looking forward to calling again.... even though I don't like football...

Never left an online review before but felt I had to for this gem of a pub. Not only the best pint of Guinness I've had outside of Ireland but hands down one of the best pints I've ever had. We spent a Saturday afternoon here. The bar itself is a proper old pub that oozes character and the barman/owner is an absolute gentleman. Will be back and sooner the better.

What can I say that hasn't already been said? It's an institution, you've got to experience it. But don't just go and look in the door, take a photo and leave. Buy a pint, chat to the barman, speak to the locals. This is real Glasgow, albeit real east end Glasgow. This is Rab C Nesbitt country, embrace it, but hurry because there are a lot of yuppy establishments around it that could put it out of business sooner than later.

Pub looks as if it has changed little over the years. Great beer and nice to have a few beers in a glass before going over the road to the excellent Barrowlands. Lots of history in this pub. After chatting with the barman it was evident there was a lot more to this pub than it being a favourite of Billy Connolly. Ask to see the visitor's book and look at some of the highlighted entries. Lots of movies and TV have been filmed in the pub and some of the stars have signed there names. Great experience and decent beer. Very enjoyable and interesting area of Glasgow.

The Saracen Heid (Sarry Heid to locals) a traditional Glasgow Pub that is said to be the oldest in the city. If visiting as a tourist it is ok for a quick drink then move on, as can be 'charactful', and noisy at times, so unless this is what you seek it is best to avoid when e.g. Celtic FC are playing at home.

I'd heard rumours of this fierce pub in Glasgow so we popped in here as we walked around the Gallowgate. Its said to be the oldest pub in Glasgow, dating back to 1755. Staff were friendly, as were the 'locals'. Its a characterful place and well worth a visit.

Others talk about this being a typical Glasgow east end pub (yadda yadda), but go in there on a Saturday afternoon after a Celtic game and you'll walk into a hotbed of Irish republicanism. There are many proper east end pubs along the Gallowgate without having to run the gauntlet of this rubbish

One of the best pubs in Glasgow. Although well known and in a number of Tourist Guidebooks, the Sarry has maintained its stance as an unapologetic Eat End pub. no gentryfication here and neither is it wanted. Decent people, great barstaff, exellent service and good music when it is on. Come in for a Shammy.

Review is a little late but we were on vacation in Glasgow in May, we ate at Yiamas three times. Fantastic every time. Best place to get a fresh salad and the lamb was amazing. the owners recognized us on the third visit and had a great chat. food and service were top notch. They were even accommodating with giving us a table suitable for my fathers wheel chair.

We had a set menu and everything we ate was delicious. Good alcoholic and non alcoholic options. A must is getting some of the snacks with your meal. Beautiful restaurant to sit in and staff helpful with dietary requirements. We will be back to experience the full menu.
