Have been visiting this bar for over 40 yrs ways when I travel by train.. Local to Hull rail Station.

Lovely old style boozer, nice drink and had kareoke on..Free rambutan shot too

We went there to have a drink as we previously did in the past. Julie was not there. Instead, there was another lady behind the bar who, once the 4 of us came in she " mouted what we about" as we were 4 black people. 3 of us sat, and 1 went to the bathroom. She came over, not even a hello. It was straight. WHAT you having. Being that we saw her reaction before I told her, give us a minute, and I kindly said it's not the first time we came in here she boldly said well it's the first time she saw us. I then said Julie knows us the Caribbean group. Then we asked who is the manager, she said Julie, and my husband asked who was above Julie, thinking that Lee was still there she said boldly again well he is not there he has been long gone. You could clearly see that she was not happy because we are black.. in this day and age, there are still racist people out there . She attempted to call Julie, but we left because she totally changed the mood . We came with a friend visiting and we talked so good about this place and to come and experience this was horrible. If I had Julie's number, I would have called her. We are not begging anyone for anything free . One of the customers told her we don't have an attitude, but she till said yes we do. Julie, you know us, and we are not problem people. All we do is come and enjoy yourself like any other person.

Called in for a pint before we caught the train ,we were looking for a proper pub and we found it,everyone super friendly the bar lady was really nice and I just love the interior,will be calling in again

Charged me twice for one round of drinks. Tried to contact them but could not get through. Barman was very overly flirtatious. Other than that cosy little pub.

A lovely little bar to visit. The beer selection is great and a great friendly atmosphere. Well worth a visit.

The landlord needs to OWN HIS RESPONSIBILITY for running a pub! Very clicky, challenged landlord politely, made me laugh that he had an article in Hull Daily Mail, but declined to admit he was actually the LANDLORD, bloody idiot!! 😳 Seriously, grow a pair when customers aren't happy? Aren't you in the business to make customers have a genuinely good experience!! Giving four stars for service because the lady who served us was lovely and the atmosphere was good!

Good friendly pub staff great but price

A real TARDIS of a pub. It looks tiny from the outside, but it goes back a long way. A traditional unspoilt pub. It doesn't seem to have changed much since I used to come here back in the 1970s. It has reopened and is now a free house. There is a wide choice of beers, lager, and ciders, including three hand-pulled cask conditioned real ales at very competitive prices. Highly recommend.

Classic city centre pub - but how they used to be. Quiet, small, quirky and with a mixed clientele. The bar is so narrow you have to sit side by side with your drinking buddy. Brilliant. Provides much needed relief from the hustle and bustle of most of the pubs in Hull "new town".

Great little pub, yes it is really that narrow. What it lacks in width it makes up with character.

Decent place except for the toilets!! The pub is up for sale and maybe closing soon, worth a visit before it's gone.

Good old fashion English pub. Good music, not too loud , fast service 👌.

You need to visit this pub at least once in your life. It's full of quirky décor and friendly people and the history of the building is fascinating. Don't expect the usual run of the mill pub experience, or was that just us? We had to return for a second visit and it was just as good!

Only a small pub but atmosphere is great and beer first class the landlord a very friendly guy and told us about some weird things that happen in the pub ! Would defo go in again !

Very comfortable, excellent service, price's very cheap,in fact, wouldn't be surprised to find, it's one of the cheapest pubs in Hull,also very clean,it has been a long time since i used it,i was a seaman and used it regular in the sixties,will be back!!!

What a dive toilets are disgusting , if you've any sort of standards avoid it like the plague.

Basic boozer. Very locals orientated so not exactly welcoming BUT nice beer and not expensive which is far more important that having the red carpet rolled out! Worth popping into just for the fact that i had walked past all the other local pubs that had neon lights flashing and musoc blaring even though it was a thuraday and they only had 4 customers - this was a far better choice for a pint.

Good old fashioned boozer, good beer and two sport TVs with plenty of banter among the locals. Check out the graffiti in the restrooms!
