It’s a considerable time since we were last in the RumblinTum and it seems to have been transformed from an average caff to a very smart and stylish coffee shop cum cafe in the centre of Moffat. It is roomy and has some comfortable settee seating as well as tables and chairs. We were only in for coffees which were very good and the service was efficient and friendly.

We were driving back from Hexham to Glasgow and decided to stop in Moffat for lunch and headed to the Rumblin Tum which was about half full at the time. We stood at the "Please wait to be seated" sign for about 5 minutes meanwhile the members of staff went about their business without even looking up or acknowledging our presence. Some were directly opposite us making food and coffee others walking past serving orders or replacing stock in the kitchen. But nobody made eye contact or said a word to us. All we needed was a quick "I'll be with you in a minute" or "bear with us a moment" but Nothing so we turned around and went next door to Hugo's where we were immediately acknowledged and seated.

Arrived on a very wet day. Went into cafe and noted please wait to be seated sign so stood and waited to be seated. Waitresses passed us by not even acknowledging us. It was fairly busy but there were some free tables. Waited for a few minutes then walked out. Maybe it was fact we were 2 wet motorcyclists in wet gear but wont be back. Have been in many times before with no problems never again....

Was asked in a sharp tone what I wanted, I said 2 coffees The lady replied “ for inside or out”? When I said out she scrunched her face and told me there’d be a wait, obviously I asked how long because there was 2 people inside and nobody else waiting and she literally growled at me and said “I don’t know do I” It was a older lady with messy teeth, I just left because I wasn’t expecting a sharp attitude or response just for asking for 2 coffees from a coffee shop.

Since 2012 we have called in at the R T each May, with the exception of Covid times with our American cousin for breakfast after picking her up from Glasgow airport. This year we called in a Moffat to find the R T closed. Seems they now open at 9am when previously it was 8.30am which is when we reached Moffat. Hugely disappointing having enjoyed it all those years. On the website it still showed opening at 8.30 (changed now). Need to think of somewhere else next year. Motorway service stations I just don't like

The Rumblin Tum is one of many local restaurants around the central two streets of Moffat. Parking is relatively easy either in the square (or more accurately long rectangle) or nearby streets. This isn't a fancy place, but seems to cater to a combination of locals and visitors to this small town. We came here for lunch. The inside cafe was full, but we were able to find seating outside. We ordered at the counter and our meals came out relatively quickly by friendly service. This is a good choice to pop in for a lunch in Moffat.

I soooo love this cafe, it’s my favourite, oh also my 4 dachshunds drag me in as they know lots of people will want to talk to them and they always get sausages as a treat. As it’s very popular and busy, make sure you get there before the rush. Don’t moan if you’re in a hurry, this is a popular restaurant and not a tacky macdonalds. All the cakes are freshly made by the Owner Alison who was highly trained. So recommend the cakeees Cleans dogs are welcome and towels at front door if it’s been swimming 😍.

Thought by the look it would be outstanding, sadly not so. Service very slow, good selection of food, to find out it’s mainly microwave job reheated sausages is just a no no, not like they haven’t got a big kitchen area. I ordered a pancake and bacon, bacon cooked crispy to burnt turns up cooked just and yes the menu says 1 pancake but for £7. You would think it’s a bloody great sized pancake with 2 bits of bacon. No it isn’t. It was stone cold. Hot chocolate was hot I will give them that, but cups are small. All in all very disappointing

When we last visited The RT, back in 2019, I described it as Rather Tired. I had at that time particularly noted that the toilets and threadbare carpet displayed a need for some renovation and updating. Well, what a wonderful transformation. All the paintwork and new carpets have really freshened up the look and the revamped toilets are much better. Once again the food and drinks were great, but this time it was an all round more enjoyable experience.

Always stopped here when going to/from Edinburgh but won't be any more. Used to get mugs of coffee, now it is small tea cups of coffee for twice the price. I popped into the Rumbling Tum today for a light lunch. Latte and a chicken mayonnaise filled roll. Both were outstanding. The owner, when finding me an outside table said to bear with them as due to unforeseen circumstances they were short staffed. Well if she hadn’t told me I would have been none the wiser as the service was nothing but 100% professional and polite. It was obvious that they were busy however all the staff I saw were acting in an extremely calm and professional manner. I feel I didn’t wait any longer than normal for service and I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending The Rumbling Tum if your visiting Moffat. A great looking selection of both hot and cold offerings and everything I saw go by looked fresh and appetising. A real gem in a lovely town. Well done Rumbling Tum.

Ate here quite a few times, but this would be our last! Ordered 2 tuna mozzarella panni's and an egg and bacon roll. Was quite busy and waited about 45 mins. While waiting, noticed none of the menu's were sanitised after each customer. Neither was the pen that was used for track and trace. Vinegar bottle took from one customer to another with out been sanitised.Eventually got our sandwiches, to our disappointment, no tuna in the panni, instead it was tomato! Far too much tomato making it soggy! And the egg and bacon roll was swimming in grease, just dripped from the roll. When we went to pay the bill, mentioned it to the gentleman at the till to be told its usually him that does that!Such a shame as it used to be such a lovely place to eat.

Service slow but it was lunchtime, i would rather queue outside and there be less tables. We copped for a table where everyone passes closely going to the toilets. Cornish pasty and mushy peas no mint sauce available is a big let down. I chose soup and was amazed how crammed with veg it was but as someone who cooks with salt and adds if neccesary i found 2 spoonfuls was the best i could do of the soup, totally inedible,i dud mention it on the way out but no offer of deduction. Popped into the Rumblin Tum with my partner for a quick coffee and a roll and bacon. The latte, whilst beautifully presented in a a tall glass cup lacked any flavour. It just tasted like warm milk as very little coffee had been used to make it. The bacon roll was of equally poor quality as the bacon had either been microwaved to ensure it met the consistency of chewy leather or had been cooked hours before and left to dehydrate in the oven. The front of the cafe as you go in the door has a relatively modern feel until you walk about 6 metres in and you are met with a time warp in terms of the outdated 1970's decor. The cafe looks good from the outside but really disappoints on the inside.

Just had a tea and lite afternoon lunch in here, staff are lovely, food simple but great and the service was extremely quick. All of this with a price that is very cheap. Will definitely return next time in the area.

What a fab wee place - lovely soup and baguette for my lunch, & "the best bacon roll - ever!" for my friend. Prices are really reasonable - and the staff were all really friendly, and - considering how busy they were - very efficient. Would definitely recommend this place.

Called in for a coffee while Geocaching round Moffat. We sat at a table outside so had a great view of the many motorbikes gathered at the statue of the ram. Coffee was good, staff very pleasant.

We stopped in Moffat on route to our summer holiday in Dumfriesshire for a quick bite. Sat outside as we had our dog with us. Lovely panini’s and the children’s lunch bags were a hit with our little ones. Great service. Would definitely choose here again.

A perfect spot for an afternoon break after a day of driving. They serve a full range of food, but we had coffee, tea, and a bridal slice and apple pie slice. Yummy stuff, all enjoyed in a cozy environment with good service.

With so many cafes to choose from in Moffat it makes it a difficult choice but we were not disappointed when we chose the RT. We sat outside because we had our wee dog with us. My wife ordered a toastie and I ordered a panini, both came with side salad and both were delicious. We also ordered a cappuccino each and the coffee was excellent. Overall I thought the cafe was excellent and I would highly recommend it.

Only went for in for a take away coffee, but the place looked great to have a meal, and by the way the coffee was excellent.

Stopped for lunch at The Rumblin Tum also known as RT Bistro. RT could certainly be translated as Rather Tired. The hot rolls and soup were OK but the toilets and threadbare carpet displayed a need for some renovation and updating.

Myself and my mum have stopped here for a full breakfast every September since starting university in Glasgow. It makes the perfect pit stop with a beautifully cooked hearty breakfast served by wonderful friendly staff who even remembered us from one year to the next. Beautiful place would thoroughly recommend!

Rumblin Tums is a great cafe that also provides breakfast until 11am lunches and evening meals. It is licensed. There are a few sofas for a comfortable seat and tables inside and a few outside. Staff are very welcoming & friendly. Food is freshly prepared and is excellent. There is a daily specials board in addition to the menus and wine list. Good value for money. The toilets are very clean and welcoming with hand cream in addition to soap. We are regular visitors and will keep on coming.

Christmas dinner was awful. Carrots not cooked Turkey tasted off, rancid, inedible. Very disappointed after looking forward to a good meal

This was our first visit to Early Bird and it did not disappoint! Lovely decor and atmosphere. The food was amazing and the staff accommodating and friendly. Can't wait to return to try out the amazing goodies from the bakery.

Breakfast seemed a fair price, but on arrival left a bit to be desired. Grilled tomatoes were warmed only and the sausage was small considering it was the only one on the plate.

Gerard McGonigle. My wife and I stayed in this hotel in September this year( 2024) and were delighted with the place. We could not understand how it ever received bad reviews. The staff were always pleasant and included in the very affordable price was a full Scottish breakfast.I’d have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. Sincerely, Mr.&Mrs.McGonigle.

Sorry this review is late but can I say we stopped off to watch the play off final( national league England) and we were made to feel so welcome by the lad behind the bar whose name I'm embarrassed to say I cant remember. I must say the locals on the day were fabulous and were fellow Poolies by the end! As far as the place itself it's a proper pub, clean ,good beer good craic and very very freindly atmosphere if ever we go back over that way it will definitely be a place to visit
