Awful establishment which do not encourage their customers to be respectful to their neighbours. Awful parking and late night noise. Honestly unpleasant. Over priced and slow too... Spend your money elsewhere....

Consistently excellent service and food.

Regularly visit the Ruby and have never had a bad meal here. The food is always exceptional and the service matches. Nothing is too much trouble, service is friendly and efficient. Always usually visit on a Saturday so it is always busy but the food is always worth waiting for. I would go as far as saying it’s the best Chinese I’ve been to.

Very bad service tonight, rush rush rush, so uncomfortable being rushed to order, rushed into making a decision on food, couldn’t wait to clear table , so ignorant and pushy, with the staff on duty tonight it will be a long time before we return

We have visited this place regularly and always have the best food with great service. Angel has been our waitress pretty much every time we have been and she is an absolute star. She works tirelessly and goes the extra mile to provide us with a wonderful dining experience, even remembering what we had to eat and drink at previous visits. They cater for coeliacs, providing a separate gluten free menu. The staff (especially Angel) are knowledgable of the menu and the ingredients used, and are aware of the issues with cross contamination. Have never been ill following a meal here. The food is delicious. It’s a privilege to have this place locally and be able to eat Chinese food after 12 years of being coeliac. Thank you Ruby Cantonese 5*****

We have been to the Ruby a couple of times, since moving to the area. Normally set menu deals are a bit pants, but here is the exception - the choice of dishes is really varied and the quality of the food is excellent - not to mention the value. The service however is another level - really fantastic. I have quite a bad nut allergy, but the hostess always does her absolute utmost to make sure I dont have any issues. The rest of the staff also really polite and attentive. This place deserves more than the 5 stars available.

I’ve been going to the Ruby for 25 years, either they have changed the chef or food standards have dropped. Worst Chinese meal I’ve ever experienced at what was once my go to Chinese restaurant. So disappointing

Went on Wednesday evening, busy so glad we booked table at 7.30 had the evening special so for table of 4 we ordered 5 starters, and 5 mains to share. Food was beautiful, service was very good and friendly . At £17.95 per head great value for money. Thoroughly recommend a visit 👌

Went last night with family. Their early bird offer is £17.95 pp. The food was varied and hot and looked and tasted wonderful. Staff were lovely too. Only downside is parking! They have no car park, so you have to park on busy road and walk or park over from the busy road. Was packed to the beams on a Thursday evening which shows how popular it is, so you must book. Look forward to going back!

We’ve been a few times over the last few weeks after a work colleague recommended it. For a staff meal & a family meal. Staff are very helpful & efficient. We enjoyed the early bird special it was very good value and lots of variety. The kitchen is open plan and looked very clean tidy & efficient. I love open plan kitchens when eating out. Highly recommend for a large or small table booking you will be well looked after

Excellent, fast and attentive service. Food is always amazing, lots of variety and cooked quickly. I always go when it's 17.95 per person as you get a choice of 4-5 dishes between your group and it's fab value. I love it here and everyone I've ever taken does too! No parking so park in nearby side streets or get public transport.

Visited here many times but never again waited over half an hour for our table and then left as not sure when we would be seated after making a booking what’s the point in booking if you can’t keep to within a few minutes of the time, my daughter came back for one night from uni and you totally ruined our night we will never return or any of our family again, may not bother you as you have your fan base but your not all that to mess people about, my brother came a couple of days ago and warned me it was not so good and very rushed hi you’ve lost a few customers and good riddance

Best Chinese meal I have had in a long time. The food was very tasty and plentiful - the crispy duck in particular was excellent. The service was friendly and pleasant. Will definitely return. The restaurant was very busy and tables are placed quite close together so maybe wouldn't choose it for a romantic occasion but the food is definitely a major plus

As usual food was very nice however we all felt very rushed, literally as we sat down drinks order took then food ordered them within a couple of minutes starters were there and as soon as we had finished plates were cleared and main course was served and again cleared quickly. We had two cups of coffee just to make the night last longer. Meal was booked for 715 and I was back at home at 915 enjoying a cup of tea. It was uncomfortably rushed which was a shame because the food was nice as always

Nice food, average price, service was prompt, but so was the attitude of some of the staff, not for the better. The feeling of being urged and moving things out the way quickly was quite apparent from the start. Will go again, but if the same happens, it will be passed on to the management.

We hadn't booked but managed to get the last table for two. Great service and good food at a reasonable price. The restaurant was full of friendly locals which was lovely.

We ordered a "take away", which was good. We have eaten here before, and it was pleasant.

Didn't start off too good when, a few days before, they rang me to chance the time of our meal from 6.45pm to 6.15pm. Very busy whe we arrived. Staff were a bit 'manic' due to being busy. However, the waitress who seated us and took our order was fantasic - friendly, making suggestions off the menu etc... Starter arrived in good time and were very good. Prawn crackers never arrived! No staff round to ask, so we did without. Main courses were all good. As soon as we finished, a different waitress sprang out of nowhere, whipped our table cloth off and was gone! Our original waitnress returned to take our dessert order. A few minutes later the other waitress returned saying she couldn't read the order of the other waitress, so could we order again! All very manic! Desserts and then coffee all arrived (with the desserts, straight out of the deep freeze and unable to eat straight away!) When it was time to pay we split our bill. Our friends paid (by card) first and then we did. Our card was declined! Waitress snatched card out of my hand and tapped the card reader! Very rude! By this stage there were babies crying (who brings a young baby to a restaurant!!!) and lots of people at the bar (probably waiting for tables) with some local wag thinking he was being funny (rather than a prat!) shouting to everyone who was eating "Come on my, time to go..." (as I assume he wanted to sit down for his meal!) Came out with a headache! Way too busy, no car parking and too expensive!

Excellent customer service as always. Food lovely a nice night out. It is expensive but is a great venue for special occasions.

I visited here Friday 21st July in a party of seven. AMBIENCE: The restaurant is clean and welcoming with plenty of seating. The layout is particularly good with clever use of partitioning and each table has its own area/zone. This gives a slight feeling of privacy - impressive! We were at a circular table with a rotating centre top. On this was a menu awaiting each of us. MENU: This is a packed double sided affair, with an extensive array of genuine dishes and not many that you would find in a classic takeaway - this is a proper restaurant. Not seeing chow mein on the selection, my friend asked and later received his dish which he said was excellent. FOOD: Truly excellent comments from all seven of us. Portions were very generous to the point where we could probably have ordered less and shared a little? STAFF: Efficient, friendly and very helpful. PRICE: Remembering my comments on portion sizes, we had starters, mains and drinks. Roughly £25/head and no one was moaning at that because you get what you pay for - right? NOTE: We were three couples and a single. We received four separate itemised bills - saves all the bill problems - superb! VERDICT: Excellent restaurant and we'll all be going back.

great service, employees were very attentive and did their very best to make the experience a good one. we came here for a family members birthday and they had a great time. food is fast and was definitely the best Chinese food we have had in a while. recommend as it is also not over priced.

Took the family to Ruby Cantonese and it was the most amazing Chinese food ever - even the children , who are fussy eaters, loved the ribs and spring rolls and even ate egg fried rice and sweet and sour pork. The 10 yr old declared it to be the best meal he’d ever had! The staff were fantastic even though it was very busy- we’ll definitely be back.

Lovely place and atmosphere, very efficient staff, nothing was too much trouble at all, my partner is a black man and asked me to add how their natural aproach made him feel relaxed, nothing was too much trouble! Came here last week with hubby and two friends. Food was amazing. Tried set menu C. More than enough food for everyone. Always asked if we wanted drinks topping up and zero waiting for anything. Will definantly come back!

We've been coming here for decades and found it a little hit & miss, but in fairness mostly hit. Like most places it seemed to struggle during the pandemic - menus were restricted , prices hiked , staff stressed etc, so we haven't been coming as often. Also on Saturday nights we find it too busy and the staff are not able to give a friendly service ( although the food stays consistent ). However happy to report on this occasion everything was absolutely wonderful - food quality, staff, service. Maybe this was because we came on a Sunday night where there was enough customers to make a good atmosphere, but also staff had time for a chat and provide top notch service for everyone. Prices are less on Sundays too, not that it's ever too expensive here. Highly recommended based on this visit.

I was at the Ruby 2 weeks ago for Sunday lunch the food was good & plentiful, service excellent prices reasonable it was busy because of the things I have reported so I am surprised by some of the reviews posted.

Felt really rushed when asking about food. Place is too enclosed too many chairs/tables close together. No parking for disabled either or others. Not wheelchair friendly. They brought someone in our party of 20 curry sauce and he nearly ended up with it on his lap because she was rushing to serve.

We hadn't been here for a few years and previously, we had always had a good experience. Unfortunately we can't say the same for our latest visit. We were seated immediately, drinks ordered. Then, in the space of 2 minutes, we were asked 3 times if we were ready to order, bearing in mind we had only been sat down for a few minutes. We ordered starters and mains, the starters were ok overall. The mains were very poor. My husband ordered a pork dish and he had beef, which he tried and it was inedible. My chicken dish wasn't much better. Meat was an awful texture, so much so my husband returned his dish. Waiter was apologetic, offered him an alternative but the staff were rushing around so much, it just wasn't a comfortable experience and we just wanted to leave. I've heard the restaurant has changed hands. If this is the case, it's not for the better. Sadly, we won't be returning, which is a shame because it used to be very good.

Well we haven't been down for a while and the Mrs requested a visit for her birthday so off we went with a table for two , bear in mind the restaurant has always been good and the only reason I am re reviewing is because it has changed hand and you can tell from the minute we sat down it was like we were rushed the starts came out in minutes, then no sooner had my chopsticks gone down the mains were on the tables I mean the food was good very good but the portion size has shrunk some what for the prices you are paying you expect more there are other restaurants out there that offer just as good food with a better value for money , we will be looking elsewhere in future.

Booked at table for 10 people for a 50th birthday. Just rang to see if could make it 11 people, and was told wasn’t booked in 😡 when i spoke to the same lady 4 days ago . Not helpful at all won’t be using this place again .always double check your bookings

All I will say is what a shame. Been coming here for many years and last weeks visit will be the last. The food wasn’t great. It was hot but very little on the serving dishes and next day all I could taste is MSG. The restaurant was freezing cold and no heating on. Was so cold I had to put my coat on to sit and eat my meal which is not acceptable. It was so busy in the restaurant and the poor staff in the kitchen were having to bring food out to the tables as the waiters couldn’t cope. We arrived to find tables not cleared and food mashed into the carpet. The one person who brought out complimentary glasses of wine to the table slammed them down with such force she could have snapped the stems of the glasses as she was in such a foul mood. Not good enough! Things need to change clearly but I’d say go somewhere else as it’s not worth the money. Very poor.

Tried this restaurant for the first time after hearing many great reviews. Unfortunately much to our dismay, we were charged twice for one portion of egg fried rice when we questioned this, we were met with a rude lady who insisted one bowl was “2 portions”, cannot quite fathom how she comes to this conclusion. Me & my fiancé had 1 starter to share which was lovely and faultless, the perfect amount for two. However the lady taking the order failed to explain it would be £8.40 each which for what you get is extortionate and when we questioned this were told it was our fault for not reading the menu correctly regardless of this not being made clear on the menu! We ordered crispy shredded beef & when this came out after eating one piece each, figured out it was nothing but rubbery batter and grease on a plate, we waited till after the meal to voice concerns over this as it was left untouched and felt we were ignored, it wasn’t until we spoke up again that some kind of solution was offered for this. Staff apart from one young blonde lady & one young gentleman were rigged up to the nines with attitude and not that of a customer service friendly attitude at that, wait times to pay the bill was ridiculous and it felt like we were being watched whilst eating. Not the most comfortable environment to eat in and certainly won’t be returning. Food received was not worth what we paid. Please stick to ordering from your local takeaway :( !

Twas bangin! Food was great and the staff.... lovely. Nearly poked my eye out with the chopsticks but they handily provided a back up fork if you are incapable like me.

We had a lovely succulent meal today from the Ruby Cantonese. The staff were all very professional and polite, as well as helpful as it was our first time eating here. We were recommended by countless different people to come and have a meal here. So we had very high expectations, and even then we were still blown away by the service and quality. On top of that, the price and quantity was very reasonable. 5/5 would definitely come again!

A very well established Chinese restaurant that never fails to satisfy. Every time we go it is packed, which says it all really. Like the fact you can see into the kitchen too. Extremely pleasant, helpful and efficient staff. Some nice deals on "set meals" too, heartily recommended x

First time back for about ten years, enjoyed the meal as much as we used to. We had the set menu for 2, switching out the basket for chilli king prawns... really enjoyed every course. Will be back again...

The food was excellent, as always, but our table was near the door and we were cold. We complained to the staff about being cold and were moved to another table a little further away from the door. Unfortunately this didn't really help much so not a great experience for our girls night out last night. 😕
