The Ruby in Northampton

I’ve ordered food online as it was saying on their brochure -10% if you so so, turns out the prices online are much more expensive, still they told me on the phone that I had my 10% off…ok.Then it also said free bottle over £45, without saying more..turns out online you have to spend £60…told them nicely on the phone that I would expected a free drink with my food,knowing that I’ve already past on the higher price through online order..the person on the phone was very rude, and hand out on my face. This is the last time in going there, the food may be nice but disrespectful poeple. A shame.

We normally use Gourmet House on Wellingborough Road for Chinese, who are absolutely superb, but we thought we'd give these guys a chance simply because they have so many excellent reviews. We knew that they were more expensive than Gourmet Kitchen but we don't mind paying more for a better product. Unfortunately we discovered when it was too late that it's not a better product, they're just overpriced and definitely not worth the price premium, in our opinion. Gourmet House charge just £1.50 for delivery, whereas The Ruby want £4 for delivery. Gourmet House charge just £13 for their mixed starterts (hors d'oeuvres). The Ruby were charging £19.90 for their mixed starters, but now I'm being told that it's gone up to an eye-watering £22.90, getting on for twice as much as Gourmet House! The mixed starters from Gourmet House are all that we need to order, because it's so filling that we don't actually need anything else. The ones from The Ruby were much smaller portions and we were still hungry after we'd eaten them. They didn't taste as nice as the ones from Gourmet Kitchen, either, which are absiolutely delicious. So unfortunately we are unable to recommend The Ruby, as they appear to offer the worst of both worlds. No idea why they have such high ratings, maybe we just caught them on a bad day. Not only are they more expensive than their local competitors but they also appear to be offering an inferior product as well. Avoid.

Always order from here but tonight especially was the worst and especially the customer service so I’m allergic to prawn as usual I get Singapore noodles and Singapore rice (which isn’t cheap) no prawns and today come with prawns in the rice when I said the lady said you can pick those out there will only be one or two in there. 1. I’m allergic so no 2. so you know you only put two prawns in for the people that want this. Also we ordered chicken balls and prawn balls come instead she tried to say the chicken balls have changed shape so they will be chicken I cut open while on the phone snd nope they were prawns! She offered to only bring out chicken balls later on which the rest of the food would be cold or free ones next time and nothing for the other wrong food as I could ‘pick’ the prawns out. I wasted money on two curry sauce pots which are £2.70 each as we have them with the rice and chicken balls so complete waste of money (£41.98 altogether) Just rubbish I ordered directly fromd there and didn’t get offered a refund. I always have ordered from here but after tonight I don’t be again

The BEST Chinese take away….!! I’ve order from these guys multiple times… it just gets better 🤷🏻‍♂️ what can I say??!! If you want tasty and fresh food at a very good price…. THERE IS NO OTHER, in Northampton…. Probably the country!!!💯 If Carlsberg…,did Chinesse 😎!!

Me and my partner often order from here. We have been let down by so many other Chinese takeaways but here they're always serving up delicious hot food. So we don't go anywhere else anymore. Quality is always good and they quick prepping your order too.

This is the best Chinese in Northampton. Food is alway hot and full of taste. Staff are very friendly and always so polite. I have been ordering from here for a while and will continue to. Never had a bad meal always on time or early. Fantastic.

Was expecting better after the reviews from friends...1. Hot & Sour Soup - have to say not really authentic2. Singapore Noodles - by which all Chinese will be judged. Just not spicy or flavoursome enoughOn the plus side...lovely staff & non greasy food

Ordered at takeaway , polite service and quick to prepare order.All the food was as expected ,prawn balls and horderves were spot on came with prawn crackers and free bottle of soft drink if you spend over the required limit,my one fault would be the duck was a little dry as it comes shredded off the bone.Enjoyable meal and will use again.

After spending two weeks in Cuba we were craving for a Chinese and praying that it would be as good as always and yes it was, ribs were to die for and curries and rice fantastic

Had another take away last night. BBQ spare ribs, Crispy Duck and Prawn Curry. Cannot fault anything at all. Delivery was on time, food hot and tasted gorgeous! Well done will be using you again

This is by far the best Chinese takeaway we have had since living in Northampton. The foot is always piping hot and not at all greasy, top quality Chinese food I wouldn’t order from anywhere else.

Had been recommended to try the Ruby and can honestly say that it is the best Chinese we have EVER had in Northampton. We ordered on Just Eat for a 18.30 delivery - it arrived at 18.28 and even the prawn crackers were still warm!Curries were gorgeous and ribs just fell off the boneWill always use The Ruby from now on

We love the ruby! Great food and a really wide range of food , love all the tofu dishes that are available. Will probably not order through Justeat next time because it took 1.5 hours to get to us with no updates but would recommend for collection !

Under cooked chicken balls and warm rice, both myself and my partner were throwing up at exactly the same, 2.05am, coincidence ?

Over done chips, under done chicken balls, slodgey prawn toast and dry chow mien. Will stick to hookee.

I've gotten food from here a few times and it's always been excellent. Today I went in for collection and the lady at the till was lovely and made sure I was seen to immediately. No complaints at all everything was spot on! It's a great local and their customer service is fantastic.

The Ruby have never let us down. However I deviated from my normal Singapore Vermicelli and sadly I wish I hadn't. I had Thai green curry and although the sauce was good, the chicken was an awful texture very very soft. I had to pick it all out. Please fix this Ruby because otherwise it would have been fab. Maybe add some veg to the curry too. Green beans etc. The rest of the order was fab!!

The best Chinese takeaway in Northampton, food is always hot and delicious and it can sometimes take a while if you order on a Friday night but it's because they're busy and when you taste their food you'll know why. Very good portion sizes, the smoked shredded chicken is amazing and their chow mein is as good as any good quality restaurant.. So glad I found this place, my son loves it as much as I do.

Ordered here instead of my usual and this will now be my usual! Absolutely gorgeous. The dumplings were the best I've ever had. Crispy chilli beef and garlic broccoli was spot on. Really highly recommend them.

Had a takeaway delivered. Arrived promptly by a very friendly delivery lady. Food was hot, fresh and exactly what we wanted! Veggie food was lush- haven't had nicer tofu from anywhere else in Northampton. My wife had a chicken dish and also very much enjoyed it! Would recommend
