Had the most amazing roast everything was perfect the yorkshires to die for food service everything excellent great place to eat !!

The roast was very tasty and a large portion for a very decent price. Summer went above and beyond to help and it was a pleasant atmosphere in there

Popped in here on a Wednesday evening as a family of 3 with a 7 year old. Was around 6/6.30pm. No other restaurant covers but a few patrons in the bar. Daughter had the kids spaghetti but didn't eat it. Husband enjoyed his burger which came with some sorry looking chips. I hate pate which was nice. Could have had more red currant. Had soup for main meal which came with toast rather than bread? There was no rush for our order etc. I Imagine if we lived local we would probably return but without big expectations. Meal costs around £40. 3 starters, 1 burger, kids meal, kids juice, coke and old mout

I had to write this review after having the most lovely meal & all 4 of us agree. The chicken & leek pie was incredible & the Korean chicken burger was a big hit. Finished with chocolate brownie & apple pie. Thank you to the chef & to the lovely girl that served us. If we are ever In the area again we will 100% be back! Thank you! Round the corner from The Harry Potter Tour and serves food week day afternoons! Perfect!

Slow service no customer service waitress's not very happy or helpful

Had a family event here , food was good, the place was busy . Staff friendly.

This happily venue took my sister’s money for her late husband’s wake. The manager set the tone of unhelpful surliness from the outset, and then seemed unable to provide some of the basics unless repeatedly ‘prompted’ ( eg clean cups). She did not tidy and clear as the afternoon progressed but then took ‘the hump’ when we did it ourselves. We wanted our guests to be at ease; ‘hospitality’ is the name. The handful of locals clearly found the attendees an inconvenience. The manager justified her poor level of service saying she was too busy ( there were 2 other co-workers). If you want welcoming friendly efficient service don’t come here. Very poor value for money. Oh yes, car vandalised whilst parked (sensibly ) in pub car park.

Play area needs renovating. The rubber chippings are sparce, under matting is sticking up and a trip hazard and my nice found loads of broken glass!

Very disappointed, been to the Royal Oak a few times , yesterday went in there , and was asked to sit in the bar area, as there was a funeral, food was excellent, but service from a younger member of staff was very poor, I was given my starter with nothing to eat it with, no cutlery, sat there for 10 mins, before going to the bar to ask for some, but was told the cutlery was at the end of the bar, if you never go in the bar area how are you supposed to know that, 😡😡

Went on Friday evening. Foul mouthed youth in the garden and too many kids inside.

Fantastic place to go with friends and family, lovely friendly atmosphere and food is brilliant. Will definitely be back! The staff couldn't do enough for us and was really nice to see the new owners who have taken over coming out and speaking to customers and making sure everything was okay. The portion sizes were very generous as were the drinks. I would highly recommend

The Sunday roast dinner is advertised as 2 for 1 clearly on the website. It is not!!! Apparently not bank holidays! Forgot to update website!!! Misleading Marketing!!

Cheap but not so cheerful, always difficult to engage with the unprofessional staff and even the manager on occasions.

Arrived at 6pm on a Sunday on the off chance, no booking so couldn’t go in the restaurant but was accommodated in the bar area which was fine. Was still able to get a roast dinner which was a nice surprise as most other places by this time stop serving or have sold out! Service was very friendly, quick efficient & made to feel really welcome. There were other people in the bar area who had dogs so even better for us we got to fuss some woofers! We had a chicken & nut roast dinners. Really nice - gravy was amazing. Service was so quick, pleasant chilled vibe. Car park is pretty small, but there were still a couple of spaces available. We’d have probably parked in the public car park which is about 5mins walk away if we hadn’t found a space.

Decent food and drink prices reasonable

We went here for a Mother’s Day lunch with family. The staff were very friendly, the atmosphere was really nice, cosy and relaxed, the surroundings were really pretty. We had the roast beef, and burgers, all were hot and very tasty, really good quality food. The puddings were yummy and again good quality. Good value for money and a great meal out all round

We popped in 12.30 on the off chance on a Sunday afternoon welcomed in 3 of us we each chose the Sunday lunch and we each had one of the following beef pork belly and lamb roast ( the other option was chicken) Very good all arrived hot with fresh vegetables lovely friendly service. Only one thing all had gravy on the plate possibly should be served on the side? Place was warm nice decor with interesting wall hangings and even a ship in a glass case! We skipped pudding had a coffee very good value for money

My daughter and I called in at about 3.30pm last Sunday, and both of us chose the roast lamb. A bargain at £12.50! We opted to have the side of the day, pigs in blankets, and asked for extra roasties and extra gravy. Well, we were both starving... The meal, when it arrived, looked delicious, and it certainly didn't disappoint. Really generous sized meal, a lot of meat for a change, loads of fresh vegetables, and the gravy was to die for. All washed down with a nice glass of malbec. 👌 I definitely recommend the Royal Oak for a lovely meal.

Just popped in for a drink. Pleasant staff and decent mix of ales and larger. I wish they would continue to invest in the garden areas. The benches and chair really need some TLC.

Amazing food, good portions, tender meat, crispy potatoes, huge Yorkshire and perfectly cooked veg, friendly and prompt service. Accommodated 2 disabled people without a fuss! Superb!

Apart from the loud music,Why do we have to have music? Why can't we eat in quietness? Everything else was very pleasant and the cost of the meal was very good.

First time I've been in a pub and no one talks to you not even the staff

Went last night for family birthday It was not very busy at all One girl who did a brilliant job was the only one working, bar, serving food, taking orders, clearing tables - I wouldn’t be surprised if she was also cooking the food!!! I ordered nachos which at £9 is a joke but they came and they were put down in front of me and missing sour cream and guacamole- I asked for some to be told they’d run out - They also ran out of de-caff coffee, guiness, cider, poor girl couldn’t change the barrels as she was On her own!!! Surely there is a manager who works in this pub? What were they doing? We left in the end and went to the compasses Thank you to the barmaid for all your hard work Running out of thing me is a bugbear of mine - it’s Christmas order more stuff in The food was tasty though - I had salmon fillet with chips and a garlic butter except there was no garlic in it, all other food was nice and tasty

We booked a table for a Sunday evening. Good that we had booked as it was busy. Service was quick, we weren't waiting. Choice of food was good, extensive menu with plenty of variety. Food was OK, nothing special but nothing to complain about. I had a pie and my wife had a burger. Beer was good - usually big name brands, no local or small brewery beer. Wine was good. We parked in the large public car park (free) off the high street, which is less than 5 mins walk away. Nice pub. There was TV sport for those who wanted it and we ate at the other end of the bar where there was no TV. Great to see a pub open on a Sunday evening with a good choice of food. Hope it continues to do well.

I use to work for the Royal Oak Watford up until yesterday when a customer “Adam Reed” called me the “n word” several times during shift. Nicola ( the ‘manager’)defended him saying “he only said it once” I asked her to kick him out and in return she asked me to leave because she knew the young boys. A police report has been filed as Nicola refused to give me HR’s contact. I’ve also involved legal aid to support with the evidence I have accumulated. Since Nicola didn’t understand the impact a racial slur can have on someone, I will do everything possible to make sure she isn’t incompetent next time to help future staff. Thank you -Sylvia x

This is an awful place that constantly causes distress and upset for its neighbours with its ear drum bursting, incessant noise nuisance at unsociable hours. The sooner this place is closed and turned into flats, the better - I live nearby and my evenings in are constantly disturbed to the point of ruination by this place. It’s customers often engage in antisocial behaviour and cause damage to the surrounding area. It used to be a nice pub run by good people, it is terribly depressing to behold now.

I have been here quite a few times now, an amazing hidden gem, very shocked its not full all the time, Great food, Great prices with lovely staff & a Gluten Free menu. Hats off to you all. I need to move closer👍👍

Spacious venue, food was nothing different, a lot of the items were not available and not great value in my opinion.

Celebrated a birthday there. We just showed up with a party of 6 and the staff gave us a lovely table and nice service.

Village pub with very low priced meaks for pensioners but some staff let the exceptional manager down.

They did a burger. They did a drink. It was dirty. Extra star for the kids area.

I had a tuna jacket potato plenty of tuna, but my potato was overcooked and had been seating a round for some time. My wife had a BLT sandwich that came with French fries, which was very nice, she said.

Lovely place with great food, with vegetarian options as well. Love that they do alternative milk options for coffee and tea.

Lots of parking when you arrive, friendly atmosphere, lots of outdoor seating in the garden if you fancy sitting outside, and plenty of indoor seating, ideal for all ages, they have a menu for juniors and seniors, great food, i would definitely recommend and will visit again enjoy 👍🍺

The food was really good and plenty on the plate 🙂 staff were lovely and the atmosphere was nice too. We stopped there before visiting the Warner brothers studio and it was perfect.

What a lovely pub. Easy access and parking on site, Friendly, attentive and efficient staff for a Saturday lunch for 9, good food from a nice menu at a reasonable charge, good beer and good choice of wines and a very relaxing atmosphere.

Absolutely worst pizza I've ever had. So much cheese on the margarita that I couldn't taste anything else. The Athens pizza had so many toppings it was like someone had a bet that they could fit every olive that ever existed, on it. Complete slop. Pizzas came out within 5 minutes of being ordered. less toppings and a few more minutes in the oven and it would be much better. Don't think the Lines had been cleaned in weeks from the taste of the beer. Poured it away. This pub looks lovely from the outside. In the perfect area with a nice garden but the quality is a massive let down.

Too many mistakes where made on the food orders. One is a mistake three is a sign of deeper issues. Avoid.

Food was very average, shame as the menu sounded really promising, but the brisket pizza had no brisket on it, and the burger was spicy not aged beef.

Just moved to the area and tried the Royal Oak Had the senior citizens lunch. Very good food and price and just the right portion size. Get so fed up with the massive portions served everywhere. End up paying large price and leaving half so this is a great idea. Service was very good as well.

Had the lunchtime senior menu, fantastic meal at great prices. Wonderful staff. Highly recommended.

Here with daughter and grandchild, £50 for lunch that had to be sent back, once because the steak was not grilled (a very tiny steak) £19.99 and Pasta Ravioli which was cold and not very tasty! Pleasant staff but obviously no chef on site that could cook. Very disappointed indeed, very very poor value for money, even the coke had to go back because it was just coloured fizz with no syrup in it, yes, poor.

Booked this pub for a roast on the recommendation of others, however the food was enjoyed by most of my table, the service left a lot to be desired, Note to management “ if you think it’s acceptable to try and fool your customers by collecting the deserts you had accidentally left on another table for over 10 mins And then ask that table if they had touched them! I know this as I know the people on this table ! To then pretend to change them ! You only changed them when I pulled you up on it. ! “ side note both waitresses were seen laughing about what they were doing. I left a tip but only for the young lad serving today he was lovely, but madame with the Attitude and black hair, you personally could do with a lesson in customer service. If you think I’m impressed with your attitude think again. If management need funds for this I’m happy to chip in.

Was Very disappointed place was old and tired and food very expensive for what you got , I had a steak pie which was home Made but inside very dry peas had been put over chip’s which had been overcooked plus gravy so as for myself not nice will not go back

We enjoyed a great Easter Sunday Lunch. The Royal Oak is a lovely quiet spot on the Heart of Abbots Langley, Hertfordshire.

Friendly pub in a lovely setting. Poor quality and poorly presented food though so disappointed. Highly over priced also: 13 pounds for three sausages and mash with bit of green veg thrown in. Sorry but that’s a rip off. ! What amounts to a micro wave sausage meal.

Lovely atmosphere, owner and a very friendly pub dog. You can't dislike a local pub dog. The dog is a happy Chappy and you can feed him.

We sampled the seniors menu, and it represented very good value for money. Two courses are £6.99, three courses £7.99. I assume this is only available at lunchtime. All of us had prawn cocktail, and then one had lasagne, one scampi and one ham, egg and chips. There was more than enough and none of us could manage the pudding. My main complaint was that it was a bit cold in the pub and we had to keep our coats on. The server was very pleasant.

Absolutely fantastic, great atmosphere and fantastic food at great prices it came to the table piping hot, staff couldn't do enough to make you feel welcome highly recommend this place to all.

The landlady was extremely hostile to me and my group of friends who had paid £300.00 for a party. The food supplied did not equate to this payment at all, seemed like she had brought £30.00 of Iceland food. Then told my friend who was the one who booked it, if she wanted more food then she can "f%$£&*%" pay for it. The landlady then proceeded to tut at us all night, then she started on the kids who were just having a good time at the party. This escalated into her elbowing one of the kids and then screaming in our faces to "get out of her f%$£*&^ pub". All in all, I can honestly say I have never encountered such greediness and unprofessionalism. Whatever you do, don't have a family party here if you expect to be treated with respect.

Love this pub. Super friendly staff. Well run. Delicious food that beats any pub by far, especially the more expensive ones. We are going to be regulars.

On Thursday 5th Jan 2023 me and the wife had two rib eye steaks . The meal was fantastic along with the staff a great time had .

Went here for a Xmas meal and nobody enjoyed their food Cramped location, the staff had no clue what had been ordered and the food was bland and tasteless

The food was very good and with today's (Sunday) two for one offer it was exception value.

Went for Sunday lunch. They didn’t have any roast potatoes or cauliflower cheese and the Roast Lamb was overcooked. Sorbet wasn’t nice, neither was the cider. Not the best unfortunately

Love this pub always feel welcome here even with our noisy dog.. Discovered this pub after family arranged Dad's wake here few months ago pub is now our family go to place to meet up..As we have moved from area now lovely to come back to see family here 5 Stars..Thanks to all staff for your help👍

Arrived early ish without booking. Table for 4. 2 adults and 2 kids. The staff are really nice and the food is lovely. Best burger I’ve had in as long as I can remember. They were really good with the kids too. I would highly recommend. Great for food after Harry Potter world

Was mobbed and they kindly squeezed us in. We sat outside at benches that really need replaced and a garden that needs done up. Food arrived and order was wrong, husbands pie wasnt good, fish and chips was OK and the kids meal was OK. I wouldnt go back.

Party of 4-Had lovely food- steak, ribs and gluten free pizzas- delicious Excellent waiting on service by Linda who was very busy and single-handedly waiting on several large tables of guests. She was polite, helpful and courteous. A real star!

The roast was beautiful and fantastic value for money. The staff were helpful and accommodating with additional requests and a good variety on the menu for children. Would definitely recommend and will be returning again!

Just want to say a massive than you to Nicola and her team today. Great buffet and excellent service. Would recommend to anyone, very family orientated and couldn’t do enough for us. Spent the day here for my nephew's engagement party. The food was really good, as was the beer. Good atmosphere and the toilets were clean. There's adequate parking. I would definitely recommend.

We didn't have the best experience. There wasn't alot of people in the pub, drinking or eating but there seemed to be a good number of staff on shift. The menus were dirty and we were given two different menus which made our food choices a bit tricky. We had the meat sharer and half the plater wasn't edible, the coleslaw was very soggy and the covered chicken was also soggy and gross. The pizza and fries were very enjoyable. The service was abit slow, they had to check 4 times to get our orders right. The coffee machine was very noisy. The carpark entrance wasn't very clearly signed and sat nav sent us too far down the road.
