Hoy visitamos el Royal Oak, que solemos hacer una vez cada 3 meses, pero después de hoy creo que terminará ya que la comida fue de la más baja calidad que he comido en un pub. Pedimos un menú de domingo de 3 platos para 12. 49 así que no es particularmente barato, comparable con un Toby Carvery, etc. El primer plato fue el cóctel de gambas del rey que estaba bien, pero un poco en el lado inimaginable. Sin embargo, el plato principal de la cena del domingo de pollo era atroz. Se suponía que era un pollo medio asado, pero todo lo que se servía eran dos patas de pollo que obviamente eran productos congelados de baja calidad. Esto se combinó con salsa picante, papas asadas cocidas y sin sabor y 2 zanahorias pequeñas junto con otras verduras de baja calidad. No discutimos esto con el personal hasta que nos entregaron el pudín de una tarta de fruta cuyo pastelero ni siquiera estaba cocinado y apenas se podía cortar sin poner mucho esfuerzo. Así que le preguntamos a otro y el gerente dijo que lo haría. acaba de salir lo mismo, así que nos dimos por vencidos y obtuvimos un reembolso por el pudín y preguntamos por el pollo que se confirmó que estaba congelado. Ahora entiendo que los pubs deben congelar el producto para que dure, pero no tiene sentido salir a comer si el producto ofrecido es el mismo o peor que comprar palitos de pollo congelados en el supermercado. No volveremos a comer aquí un domingo de nuevo

This pub has recently been taken over by a new manager. I'm pleased to report that she is great! She's very welcoming and already has built up a rapport with the customers. The service in there continues to be of a high standard and the food and drinks are great.

There had been an on going problem with the ladies toilets for the last couple of years. The radiator does not work and there is mould growing on the walls. A health and safety issue to say the least.

So lucky to have this pub local. Our latest meal, five of us on a Wednesday evening in early January and the place was really busy, a great atmosphere, and staff really friendly. We absolutely loved our food and drinks. I had the mixed grill and honestly, I have NEVER had a better mixed grill. And the prices are very reasonable as well.

Cuando lo recogí todavía estaba descongelado y no comestible. Pero, eso no era nada comparado con los langostinos. Eran baratos, ANARANJADOS, y tan fuertes que tuve que usar un cuchillo en ellos. Solo pude manejar 2 y aparté el plato. Mi plato principal era el "vientre de cerdo cocido a fuego lento" que estaba tan quemado que también era incomible. La mejor parte de toda la noche fue nuestro servidor de comida Daniella, quien se disculpó y se mostró muy educada.

Went to the Tuesday Quiz last night, such a family-friendly atmosphere, people having meals before the quiz and snacks during the quiz. The Quizmaster has a very welcoming manner and makes people feel well at home! No phones, no music, just pen and answer paper - and lots of teams and people there spread around the pub, about 55 people and 12 teams. Good prizes too, with a cash bonus jackpot question at the end. Me and my friends will be there again - a good night out!

I have been a regular in this pub with my partner for around a year now. We have 2 Carlings which are £6 which me and him love. The staff are always so polite and I always say hello to the general manager and the staff in there. Always a good atmosphere in here and most the time it's quick to get a drink. We were only in at the weekend and will be going back time and time again. Keep up the good work.

The pub is cosy and the beer is reasonably priced, however it takes an age to get a beer whenever you go to the bar, even when the place is not busy, the staff really are ineffectual at their jobs here, the food is normally quiet good despite again taking an age to arrive. The final point is the state of the place, normally the outside is littered with glasses as no one seems to be bothered to collect them.

This is my local and have visited here many times for a drink with friends but ate here for the first time in ages as we couldn't go far because of the snow. The food came quickly but was very bland but at least cooked (well microwaved) The place is getting a bit shabby and the toilets are awful. It must be due a refurb. The staff are friendly but there is always a long wait at the bar for some reason. Tables are not cleared away quick enough which is a bit off putting when they are covered in dirty plates and glasses. However I will return (not to eat) as it is within walking distance!!

Food quality was way below par ordered beef rib when it was served it wobbled as it was just pure fat and this was sent straight back.

As regulars to The Stag Inn we expected a simiar high standard at Royal Oak as they are both owned by M&B; . We could not have been more wrong having been served at the bar by a barperson who seemed more bothered in talking to her manager than taking our order we ordered four starters four mains and four puddings the starters were fine and we ordered two chickens and two fish and chips one of our party wanted mash instead of chips which i emphised when ordering. Imagine our surprise when the mains was served with chips on requesting the mash which was ordered we were told that would be an extra £1.99. i have never encountered a bar where you are expected to pay for the dire service take my advice there are far better places o eat than here please dont waste your money on appauling standards and poor quality food

visited here 22-11-17 about 8.30pm, the place was quite busy but we had pre booked a table so we did not have to wait. we only chose here because i got emailed a 50% off main meals voucher from M&B.; we ordered the food. i had the 1/2 peri peri chicken, my wife had the classic burger, and my daughter had the wagyu burger. the food took 50 minutes to come to our table which i thought was a long time. the food was typical M&B; fodder, nothing special. my wife said her burger was ok, my daughter said her burger did not taste like wagyu beef, my half chicken was luke warm the chips were not bad but they had put salad and slaw on the same plate when i asked for it to be put it on a separate plate thus resulting in warm limp salad instead of cold crisp salad. overall it was very mediocre. would we come again? not unless i had another 50% off voucher. on the plus side, my wife and daughter did enjoy their desserts.

We have visited this pub over a few years and the toilets have always been run down dirty and in dire new of a makeover. My partner says the gents are the same and always smell of sewage,considering how popular the pub is and I will say a friendly pub this is just not acceptable you get the impression that management are only interested in profit and if the toilets are this bad you kind of question what is the kitchen like, when we had food it was mediocre.

In the oak weekly and I cant complain. Service is really good even when busy. Just wish they had a few more local ales like Bathams Bitter, Enville, Sunbeam. etc.
