Really enjoyed my food the mixed grill was excellent

Place needs a clean smelt a bit like a charity shop atmosphere was a bit dull , beer didn't taste right at all.

Walked in, looked around. Didn't pick up a good vibe so left without ordering anything. Personal choice, but Didn't feel right. Review NOT left day of visit.

Awful place. Only go here if you want your personal belongings to be stolen. The owner of the pub stole my friend’s phone which had her personal picture of her deceased Nan on it. Owner was arrested thankfully.

Popped in for a pub lunch on my break, had the carvery on a Thursday for 3.99 when buying a full priced drink. Food itself was lovely. Plenty to choose from and all nice and hot. Would certainly recommend

Was a lovely meal and was very welcoming

Great food for even better prices! Ordered the rib eye steak which was cooked to perfection and even came with homemade chips, which is a novelty these days as everything is usually brought in frozen. Will definitely recommend to friends and family and visit again in future.

Had the tomahawk - cooked to perfection - worth the money. Would have been nice to have real butter and sea salt but that wouldn't stop me from coming again - I'll just bring my own. Daughter has the cottage pie in Yorkshire pudding she cleared the plate. Mum had burger with blue cheese, she has a small appetite and was able to bring what she couldn't finish home. Thanks for a lovely meal and for occupying the kids with crafts whilst it was cooking.

First things first - the pub is under refurbishment. Should it be shut while this is happening - probably. In the current economic climate can they afford to be - probably not. Work isn’t undertaken during the day but you can see work is being done (power tools/half painted skirting, etc) We went for the Sunday carvery unsure what to expect for the very reasonable £6.99 price tag;we weren’t disappointed Meat is plated in the kitchen and brought to you to help yourself to veg. Between us we had beef, lamb and gammon. The meat was well done but plentiful. The veggies were in abundance and the roast potatoes and parsnips were divine! All cooked, piping hot, and tasted like a proper home cooked meal. My extremely picky, teenage, vegetarian daughter was satisfied with the range of veg the only complaint that there was no vegetarian gravy. But the owner even offered to go to the shop to get her some and the lady in the kitchen apologised as we left. This is a pub finding itself and I think if we can get behind them in this tough time then it could be an amazing add to Halesowen. Their midweek carvery is £3.99 so for us it was worth the gamble.

Went here last weekend for dinner! Worst experience at a pub I’ve ever had! My husband and two children had carvery’s which were disgusting. Not edible and looked like the meat had been out of date for months. Was not offered an apology or refund! When walking in to the pub, greeted to dirty nappies everywhere and the owner swearing and taking shots. My children wanted to leave. Not comfortable experience. Went outside for a cigarette to be greeted by rats by bins. Needs to be closed down!!!!!!! Avoid at all costs. My husband and I have severe vomiting and diarrhoea from this place!

Totally disappointed. I hired out the function room for my little one’s first birthday. On arrival to set up decorations, I found the room hadn’t been cleaned and to be quite brutal - messy. There was tinsel and a coat hanger on the floor, bits and food droppings in the carpet, sticky and dirty tables not cleaned and left over balloons hanging from a previous party. I fully expected the room to be cleaned and tidy for booking. Why would a function room not be cleaned down and ready for the next party?! I asked the 1 member of staff working why the room hadn’t been cleaned and he couldn’t answer why. He also didn’t have a hoover to at least get rid of the food droppings. I then asked if the heating could be turned on as it was cold. I was advised the radiators didn’t work. How is this acceptable when January is exceptionally cold and not have working radiators. When I had booked this venue I asked if the upstairs bar would be open, to which I was told yes, pending staffing. A few days prior I was told the bar would be open but again another issue on the day, only 1 staff member working on the downstairs bar. Later on someone else did arrive to open the upstairs bar but had to leave. I don’t expect party guests to keep going up and down the stairs to fetch drinks. A big issue for a 1st birthday party was having no baby change facilities. This should of been stated at the time of booking. I would assume in 2024 baby change & disabled facilities are important and mandatory. I cannot comment on the food here as luckily we took our own. To finish the overall poor experience with this venue, I completely forgot to ask for the deposit money back once our party had ended. It’s taken a week of actually going to the pub, calling, leaving voicemails and text messages to obtain my deposit back. I won’t be returning obviously or recommending to anyone for future.

I don't want to be critical of a small business, but some people don't help themselves. The pub itself was OK , there were a couple of draught beers unavailable . But the function room upstairs wasn't cleaned from the last function, it was cold ( no heating) the plugs we needed didn't work and the bar upstairs had to close due to not enough staff the down stairs bar was open not busy at all so I can only put it down to lack of staff & organisation as the function room had been booked a while ago . Overall I was disappointed.

We just had a carvery, quite possibly the best I've ever had. The roasters where perfect, the meat and veg cooked perfectly and the staff are friendly as always. We'll be back again for certain.

The Old Queen's Head in Angel is like a time machine that transports you to an era where beer mats were the primary form of entertainment. The décor screams "grandma's attic chic," and the bar staff are so friendly, they practically tuck you into your barstool. The ambiance is a perfect mix of vintage charm and "I hope this wallpaper survives another decade." It's a pub where the ghosts probably complain about how they used to haunt cooler places. If you're looking for a place to reminisce about the good old days (when WiFi wasn't a thing), this is your spot. Just don't ask the DJ for anything post-2000; they might think you're speaking a foreign language. Cheers to The Old Queen's Head for keeping the nostalgia alive!

Not a big selection of drinks, but the staff were pleasant and the beer was good.

Just had the carvery lunch, which was a bargain at £4. The pub looks like it is being renovated, so the atmosphere is not great. The barman was friendly, and the food was tasty. If you want, a decent lunch, at a very reasonable price, then you cannot go wrong with the carvery at this place.

We had a family gathering here on 29th December at lunchtime in the upstairs function room. The large room has a bar and is split into 2 sections. The food was served from the carvery downstairs. When I was served, there were no Yorkshire puddings, but plenty vegetables. I suggest a microwave is made available to any large parties eating upstairs as I couldn't be bothered going back down to get my food heated up. 🙃 Certainly good value for money. Again a gathering here for a girls 5th birthday party. A lovely time was had by all. The entertainer(Elsa) was in control of the games etc for 2 hours and decided on the break for food and drinks. Food provided by the pub,perfect for the numbers and time of day. A visit with my brother for a lunchtime carvery. Three meats to choose from and brought to the table from the kitchen. Help yourself to veg and potatoes, good choice and not tough. Excellent value at £2.99 in the week and the drinks aren't overpriced either. Seated before 1pm and not that busy, I did book a table but was advised that this is only necessary on Sundays. Visited on 14th Nov with my brother. We had the carvery but there was only pork on offer today. The carvery is now £3.99 which is still good value. No beers available either. Only lager or cider. Card machine wasn't working 😕 Not the best visit today!!!!!

After visiting family had a bad experience in ‘Picks’ so was told to try this pub, Good atmosphere and friendly people!!

Nice pub that's currently being done up. Just a normal everyday pub . No frills and nothing special on offer. Good pub food at a good price. Normal everyday larger and cider on offer at the bar.

AVOID THIS PLACE Carvery was NOT Edible, flys all over the food and left a bad taste in mouth. Meat was undercooked aswell especially the gammon. Bar was not stocked at all and coca cola was flat.

We arrived at 12pm told food would 15minutes 1hour and 20 minutes later the owner turned up and suddenly food arrived in a few minutes my friend is diabetic which we explained on the many occasions we asked about our food when we finally got meals they were cold and inedible the ladies toilets were a disgrace no toilet paper no hand towels and the one toilet was covered in poo I told them about this they assured me they had cleaned them and put in toilet paper which they had but not cleaned dirty toilet at all just put an out of order on door and pulled door to not locked just pulled to I would highly recommend everyone to AVOID this place we had a Sunday carvery if you could call it that

Used to be a great pub seems to be struggling like everywhere else but this shows ok for a quick beer if out shopping food a little disappointing but you get what you pay for I would go again but as I say for a quick passing beer friendly enough service maybe more of a locals pub

A family run business, the owners are really nice people and the carvery is amazing really good value for money. I come here regularly the events they hold are brilliant and they are kid friendly my daughter loves going there would highly recommend

Fantastic food with fantastic staff and owners with drinks reasonably priced and and with a function room upstairs its an ideal place for parties definitely the place to be with events on including karaoke, family fun days, live singers or even if you fancy just a quiet one i can honestly say this place is a gem!

Came in with a large group of my family for a carvery after a wedding and it was great! For £4.99 you get a good choice of veg + potatoes (the roasties are brill) and several meats! The food came out quick and the staff are super friendly & welcoming. Would deffo recommend to anyone looking for a good local roast :)

Sorry but in our opinion this place needs closing down and refurbishing and the people running the outfit need training in hygiene i.e 1 toilet in the ladies no hand dryer working, no paper tissues to dry hands. The food was not cold, but was tepid, good selection of veggies, the meat was almost non existent(our cat gets more meat) all in all you get what you pay for.The Guy serving was very pleasant an very apologetic that my yorkshire pudding was cold. Sorry guys but we won't be coming back not even for a freebee.

On arrival they only had gammon left which they plated up in the kitchen. Looks like they split the left over scraps of gammon between 3 of us. I'm not a fussy eater and the rest of the carvery didn't taste as bad as it looked but sorry won't be visiting again. I think you should stick to being a pub. Even at the great price of £4.99... I'd rather cook myself.

The food was unedible , my son was sick in his dinner as the gristle in the meat had got stuck in his throat, sorry meat ,? Scragg ends there was hardly any meat ,only left overs, excuse , they had ran out ,£45 wasted as l was told they did a Sunday roast ,hardly any left food left ,cauliflower cheese water (sauce) ,uncooked ,only peas and carrots left ,no cutlery ,no serviettes ,no yorkshire puddings and hardly any meat ,not a good experience ,won't be going again ,l would not recommend this pub ,its as if its being ran into the ground ,hardly anywhere to sit as tables were stacked on top of each other whoever took over this pub needs a lesson in cooking ,catering and customer care ,the best thing for this pub is knock it down , do us all a favour ,so the customers don't choke on the gristle the management call meat .

Had a carvery for myself and my children had delivered absolutely beautiful fast service piping hot also have eaten in there as well lovely atmosphere beautiful owners go above and beyond to help and food is beautiful

Burger meals were good value but unfortunately the fries were well cremated and we couldn't even get the fork through them. On a good point the beer was nice. However we won't be returning for food again.

Went last bank holiday for a family meal. Food was just about edible and so slow. Meat was obviously terrible quality and precooked which arrived stone cold on plates. Waited around 25 minutes for carvery plates to arrive and around 45 for the pudding. All came out separate with about a 15 minute gap between the first and last pudding. Asked chef’s for spoons as only some desserts arrived with spoons. Chef apologised but spoons never arrived so we had to share. People up and down stairs that kept flinging the door open into high chair. Obvious they’ve tried to do the place up but didn’t really flow together well. Staff were friendly enough but won’t be coming back due to food and slow service from food depart.

We went on recommendation by a friend for the midweek carvery and were pleasantly surprised. Under new management and Scott made us feel very welcome. The carvery was excellent with lots of veg selection (all cooked to perfection)

Limited selection, stocking gin and wine by purchasing a couple of bottles from local supermarket Staff seemed friendly and positive but have an uphill battle to fight with previous reputation being difficult to shake off.

Lovely Sunday dinner we all enjoyed it 5 stars.

Had a big family party here over the Christmas period and everything was excellent. Really friendly and helpful staff, sorted everything we wanted - crackers, music and private area. Carvery was delicious, well cooked and really good value for money. Can't fault them and will be back regularly.

We held a large (30+) family gathering over Christmas in the function room. We all enjoyed the carvery - great selection, fresh and tasty. Drinks are a really fair price and the good value was commented on. The room was set for Christmas, plenty of crackers and generous extras like mince pies. We really appreciated the effort the team went to to accommodate us. There was no rush for us to leave, the children had fun and we enjoyed a really leisurely afternoon. Would definitely recommend to others, in fact I've already booked again for a birthday party 🎉 Thanks to the team

Over priced meat was dry not alot of knowledge with food allergies won't be going again. Reply to comment Yes it was our table but I was not offered any roast potatoes or parsnips to be cooked seperate asked about the gravy and the girl said she googled the ingredients which is a red flag as you should have an allergy book as this is the law I went home hungry 😩

Went in for carvery paid £24 with drinks chose a table were left 15 mins as roast potatoes not ready all food on "Hot plate" were stone cold when asked if meal ok stated no cold apoligised and told lids should have been left on.and they werent. Were not offered any replacement or reheat I did n ot eat my.meal sorry you need to up your game

This was a fantastic carvery all of us enjoyed the food and Rhianne was absolutely fantastic would definitely recommended. We will definitely be back and will try and make it a regular visit especially for the carvery but most of all the dauphinoise potatoes were very tasty. 5 Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Popped in recently as was told it had a refurb! Looks pretty much the same, outside has had a a bit of a face-lift. Ordered a Worthingtons £3.90! Terrible pint was supposed to be a smooth creamflow! Think it was old stock or pipes need a clean. Most pubs price between £2.60 to £2.90, will not be going back anytime soon.

2wks ago no milk, this time no coffee - despite knowing bikers go most Tuesdays and coffee is the most popular drink. Very disappointed

Great night at this pub, went when the motorcycle clubs met up. Some really nice people in MC, bikes were stunning.

The gaffer works had. He really tries. karaoke and love music. Quiz nights to open mic nights. Mixed crowd.

We visited the here as a little date night just me and the mrs after spotting it on face book and being just round the corner from were we live thought give it a blast and we were not disappointed from starter to main to dessert every mouth full was a delight , some points of the mail seemed basic such at the veg on my sea bass that could be replace with a better looking version but it did not take away from the pure enjoyed we had from the meal, what was lovely present and tasty food , if you are looking for good value food in the Halesowen area then this is the place we are already planing our next visit , I am looking forward to trying the surf and turf witch looks like a mixed grill with scampi yum yum

Due to the fact I seen good reviews on the food here I thought I’d give it a go. On arriving Sunday after noon alarm bells started to ring as the place was virtually empty. I can confirm gravy was like water a few frozen roasters food was not cold but was far from hot. There is no interest here only 8 people in there is no excuse for bad food as they are not under pressure. I will not be going again so no idea how they got good reviews, that’s if they are true which I very much doubt

Had a brilliant here on Friday night, staff are so welcoming and friendly especially Mark , Steve the dj was brilliant as well, Nice to have a dance in a comfortable atmosphere definitely going again and can highly recommend

I haven't been inside The Queens Head, since before the 'lockdown', a long time. A group of us popped in last night. The staff could not have done more for us, the decor is bright and cheerful, very comfortable seating. Will definitely be popping in again. Beautiful historic building, one of so very few left in Halesowen.

Wonderful food and service, they were absolutely wonderful and catered to our every need! Visited for business, but would definitely go back in own time.

We had a large booking (around 12 of us) and we received amazing service from the whole team all night long! Lovely food, great drinks and super banter from the staff - I'd be a regular if I wasn't only visiting the area for one weekend! Great decor and cosy vibes which made it even better too. Was staying in the area and was struggling to find somewhere to eat for dinner Found this on the open table website and booked a table. We walked in and found the venue quite empty, approached the lady at the bar and with a great enthusiasm showed us to a table. We originally wanted to order the roast dinner but was told it was sold out, disappointed but we persevered with the normal menu. We ordered Scampi and Chips, Rump Steak and chips and both meals were gorgeous. The service was amazing and it was a real treat to hear our server singing. The food in this pub is incredible, service the best we have ever had and a truly wonderful experience. Thank you for making our first stay in the area very special.

Great food, both the Sunday Roasts and from the main menu. Staff are great as always, really big plusses are: 1) They serve roasts until 18:00, for sure on Sundays. 2) 2 x full Sunday dinners for £12 is a fantastic price. Highly recommend. *edit* for some reason, possibly the good beer at this place I called them 'fascististic' - not very kind if it is even a word, as opposed to 'fantastic'..... Now belatedly corrected :|
