The Royal Oak in Blaby

Brilliant welcome, an excellent table, and the Sunday roast? Outstanding. I’m absolutely stuffed—every bite was spot on, from the tender meat to the perfectly crispy roast potatoes. Now I’m sitting here with a double espresso, trying to work out how soon I can come back without it looking weird. If you’re after a roast that’ll ruin all others for you, the Royal Oak is the place to be. A must-visit!

Our whole group loved the food. The service is what stood out for us however. My husband asked our waiter, Mason, to arrange a custom chicken dish and he was so on point with getting the dish sorted out for him as well as just being an excellent waiter overall. Highly recommend

We had breakfast this morning …. All we can say it was amazing.. Food was so fresh , so tasty but to top the food the staff are great! So pleased Alicia is working there gave us 5 star treatment as she always does where ever she works… we will be returning thank you 👌🏼

We had a family gathering at The Royal Oak yesterday. The food was delicious, freshly prepared and good sized portions. The staff were really lovely, and dog friendly. Our puppy enjoyed herself too!

Royal oak is always a great place for food, drink and a warm welcome.

We reserved a table here for breakfast for my brothers birthday. I was shocked when I came in that they have their own Deli with really beautiful products. Really homely warm place, and the food was absolutely amazing. The lady that took our food and drinks order was brilliant, she was super friendly and couldn't of done more for us I wish I had got her name so I could of wrote it on this review. If you asked your staff who served the family on the 22nd of November, that was celebrating a man's 40th and she was counting down till 10am for us so we could get a pint, it's her lol. Would highly recommend this place and will 100% be going back.

Went for Sunday lunch which my partner had whilst I had the steak. We both really enjoyed our meal.

Food lovely, sevice good but spoilt by two dogs almost constantly barking loudly this morning. It completely spoilt the visit. Customers should not bring dogs in an eating establishment if the owners can't guarantee their dogs to behave. Would not go back there again if they allow dogs to spoil customers dinning experience.

Service was a bit slow at the begining but improved as the meal progressed. Could not fault the food, would definitely return if I was in the area again.

Family breakfast to celebrate a birthday. First class service and food. Surprisingly busy for 9.30am but can now understand why. Top marks.

We really like this place, good pub food, unpretentious, dog friendly and the staff are all nice and pleasant. We went for breakfast and it was very good...the large full English was very large!..and good value, we go out for breakfast quite often and this one is the best of all! The deli is good too.

Stopped for an early dinner, service was amazing! The main bar was very loud but there were quieter tables available. Food, fairly good, my steak was a little too chewy, maybe cooked straight from fridge but it was edible, however, the rest of the food was great, and a very good Sauvignon Blanc too. Will definitely return!

Comida encantadora, el servicio era un poco lento y nos dijeron que obtendríamos asados con nuestras comidas, ya que tenían excedentes, sin embargo, no se proporcionaron. Dicho esto, el personal era muy amable. Excepto el dueño. Maleducado y condescendiente. Si vuelvo y él está trabajando, me daré la vuelta e iré al pub por la calle, que es mucho mejor.

Me preocupó al principio cuando vi que el aparcamiento era de pago y exhibición sin embargo gratis cuando un cliente del pub. Me quedé impresionado con la bienvenida amable y el ambiente y el ambiente. Menú Me mimaron para la elección el servicio era rápido y excelente y la comida wow porciones generosas de comida de primera calidad y sabrosa. Gracias sin duda volveremos.

We have just had one of the best meals I have ever had at a pub restaurant it is well worth the price the staff are brilliant it is just a 1010 place had my wedding reception there had a buffet there was not one complaint it was so well done this is a place you have to try I promise you will not be disappointed. My wife and I are great pie lovers. We decided to take advantage of 'Monday Pie Night' at the Royal Oak. We know the food is always excellent at this venue, so we were expecting something special for the price. We were shown to our booked table by Olivia who made us feel welcome and explained the choice of pies and drinks available for this particular deal. The meals soon arrived and we were both amazed. The food was 'FANTASTIC'. The pies were huge and delicious, the sides were large portions....and the plates were hot. Then lovely Becky came to check that everything was all right. It was simply first class dining. Without doubt the best pies we've ever eaten. We are already planning out next visit when a pie-fix is required. Thank you Royal Oak, Becky, Olivia and the chefs for an eating experience to remember. Brilliant!

2nd time visiting here. A very warm welcome and a little help with the registration of my car in their carpark. Offered a very personalised meal options, with coleslaw? With salad? Quick service of a bacon brie pannini served outside. It was only ok. The service and atmosphere was great and will visit again.

The service was disappointing. They make you feel like you are invisible. No one wants to clean empty tables after the guest - they just Ignore the mess... Definitely the one NOT to come back again.

Recently had my wedding reception here. I can’t thank Sarah and her team enough the day was perfect 😍 the room looked amazing, and the food was outstanding.

Met an old friend. Two weeks later £100 parking fine - since when did you need to pay for car parking to visit any pub. AVOID. Food and drink might be OK but they clearly only want to make as much money from their customers as possible.

Went here for Sunday Lunch. Meals all beautifully presented. There was a price for 1 course, 2 courses or 3 courses. 3 of us opted for just 1 course and 2 had 2 courses. We ordered fish and chips- huge portion! 3 roasts, 1 turkey, 2 trio of meats- when on first glance it looks as though there's no vegetables, but it's presented in a piled up style with a large Yorkshire on top followed by meat then vegetables. There is a full plate once dissected. 1 tagliatelle- huge bowl of this pasta dish well recommended. If you ordered the trio you do pay more and meat can be added to the tagliatelle at a further charge too. Beautiful mains. 2 desserts were ordered and enjoyed. However, on receiving the bill it was very confusing and hard to work out as there was the fixed price then add ons scattered throughout the list. At the bottom of the list there was an estimation made that roughly suggested that all the guests had about approximately £25.15 worth of items each which had included the drinks ordered at the table. This had then been times by the five of us and the total was a few pounds more, so we were alittle over charged. Having said that, the meal was lovely but the charge had put a dampener on our experience. I would suggest if you were ordering, to keep a personal note of your bill, so if you want to leave a tip you can see how much has been rounded up before doing so. The staff were friendly and attentive though and we were treated in a kindly manner.

A splendid pit stop en route North. Delicious meals, hearty portions The Quiche Lorraine from the Deli was a winner and the other Deli offerings were tempting We benefited from a lovely sunny day and sat in the beer garden with the added convenience of the Post Office being opposite.

Wonderful place. Visited for the first time today. Only downside was so many dogs which were allowed in all areas. Some very yapoy. Maybe dog/dog owners should have designated area which would be fairer I feel for non doggie customers....

Tge Royal Oak is an absolutely delightful pub. Food was incredible and service was very efficient and friendly. This is now my go to pub for every occasion meet ups. The pub has outdoor seating in the front garden and it has a large rear garden to with plenty to keep the children happy. They have an ice cream bar inside too 😋 cantvwaif to go back again 🥰

Definitely worth a visit. Service with a smile. Highly recommend the quiche, the beef lasagne and the apple and blackcurrant flapjack!!

Went here for a couple of drinks while we stayed at the hotel down the road. The pub also has a bakery/tea shop.

I highly recommend this pub. Suitable for both families and cheerful groups, you can also buy food and baked goods from local farmers inside, which is very good. The food portions were more than enough to satisfy an adult. Everything was prepared very well and tasty!

Breakfast with Santa was good and wholesome family fun, plenty of food included, and plenty of variety for different tastes. The downsides were that the waffles seemed burnt, the crumpets were overcooked and Santa barely came by to see us.

Nice and very clean. Good service 👍. My egg royal was nice but not perfect because of over toasted bread ( to dry for eating or knife cutting). However, others enjoyed their food a lot.

Had the ploughman's sharing platter, and it was a bit disappointing. The sausage roll was very lack lustre no colour to it, and I've never known as sausage be perfectly round, almost processed, and the same with the pork pie, no taste to it and very wet, considering they have a deli there, I would have been more than happy to pay extra knowing that it all came out of the deli, other than that, the rest was good.

Unfortunately we were sat next to 3 teachers who still thought they were in the classroom and shouted the whole time we were there.we even had headaches when we came out.but otherwise it's great in there.

The food was great, and the service from all the staff (apart from one) was amazing, but I have to say, the guy behind the bar, with a grey ponytail, is just awful, he is miserable and did not make us feel welcome in anyway shape or form. We felt watched, and he told staff twice (with in minutes of each other) to ask if we had finished our food when my friend was clearly still eating. I stopped going to the Oak for over 12 months because of this guy, but sadly, he's still there, and he takes away the nice feel the Oak used to have! It's a shame because the rest of the staff are amazing

Went for a family Sunday lunch. We have been many times for breakfast etc and the food is always good and nice and hot and good value. On this occasion however we all felt the roast was mean in portion size with very little vegetables and hardly any meat. Shame as probably wouldn’t have the roast again.

Travelling north on M1, booked Sunday lunch to break the journey. Fantastic choice. Staff led by Sarah were a delight, helpful and caring, could not have done more for us. Sunday lunch was excellent and great value for money. Highly recommended.

Went for a business meeting and venue was perfect with a bar, the buffet was perfect. Parking good. Main surprise was the food servery selling designer snacks and lunches , lucky village!!!

As someone who has worked in the hospitality industry for 6 years, I have never been so taken aback as visiting this place. When me and my father attended for a Sunday roast we were met with staff who were indifferent at best aside from our waitress. Upon receiving the roasts we we were presented with stone cold potatoes, parsnips and carrots that tasted of fermented ketchup, "greens" that were boil in the bag standard, and turkey that tasted vaguely fishy. After I had struggled down a third of the dish, my father who only finished his meal due to extreme hunger, suggested I make it known I was not happy with the meal. I brought this up with the waitress who made a quick excuse, and that was the extent, Despite seeing her confer with management on a trip to the toilet we were offered no proper apology, no discount on the bill, paid full extortionate price, and left with a bad taste in our mouths that didn't just come from the food.

The worst Sunday Lunch I have ever attempted to eat and my Son who normally eats anything left the majority of this excuse for food.

Nice food, all well presented. It's a generally good atmosphere, though if busy you can feel a bit like you are in the way. Not the cheapest place, but it's not trying to be, it's higher quality food and about the price you'd expect that to be.

Wow, what a transformation! Extensive menu to suit all needs, hopes and desire. Very clean with friendly staff. Will definitely come back.

Update 23.12.23. Dropped in for a coffee & cake. Also had a chilli sausage roll on top of the rocky road and coffee. Really busy, but very chilled pre-Christmas vibe. Very nice 👌 Went here on the spur of the moment as another chain restaurant didn't have a table available. Glad we did. Really nice and quirky, 'local' pub. Had a deli in the main room. Had a couple of filled pittas, tandoori chicken + halloumi & veg. Very tasty and good portion. Really good and pleasant service. Seemed like a good 'local' pub. Recommended 👍😁

Big band night....Service in the back room a little chaotic due to no one serving to start with and a large queue forming, got under control later. Front you looked good and the fresh food shop looked exceptional. Must go again to try the food.

Absolutely delicious, my husband and I took our youngest son and his girlfriend for Sunday lunch as an early birthday celebration. The men had 3 courses and each one was presented beautifully and really tasty, the portion size was more than enough. Staff are extremely helpful and very friendly, we have definitely become regular diners here

Myself and a friend called in for a sandwich. It was very quiet and a couple on a nearby table ordered their food we then ordered ours Bacon and Brie panini and a roast beef panini. The other couples food came we waited and waited and waited the other couple had finished their meal we were still waiting . After an hour I asked how much longer our food would be to which I was told it's on its way now. 15 minutes later still no food. At this point we cancelled our order I mean nearly an hour and half for 2 panini in an empty pub ! We use the Royal Oak at least twice a month but after today's appalling service we will not be going there again ! They even had the cheek to charge us for 2 half drunk drinks !!!!

Another great visit to the Oak. This time we had dinner and stayed for the family Halloween party with our 7 year old son and it was a great night. The Royal Oak lives and breathes support for the local community and puts on many events throughout the year for both kids and adults alike, the effort by the team in making these events a success are easily seen when you’re there, nothing is too much effort. Events aside, every time I visit the place it is busy…….breakfast, lunch and dinner are of the highest quality and prices are probably the lowest in the area for the quality of the food you get to eat! It’s great to see a pub / restaurant thriving and being determined to embed itself as part of the local community so, if you’ve never been or, not been for a while I highly recommend you do.

There for a funeral, was well provided for. Pleasant staff.

caitlin (bill says server is caitlin) was lovely, greeted us and sorted us a table for breakfast. couple coffees and a full vegetarian breakfast was lovely in the sun. perfect morning!

Great pub with a lovely deli, my wife and I paid a visit for Sunday lunch, very nice, excellent value, staff were very polite and helpful, highly recommended.

Myself and 3 friends had afternoon tea. We all come from different parts of the Midlands so having been To The Royal Oak previously I thought it would be a good meeting point. Have to say the Afternoon Tea was absolutely fantastic the service was top class and the attention to detail could not be faulted. 2 of our party had specific dietary requirements and allergies to say there dietary requirements were met is a complete understatement. The girl who served us asked so many questions about the allergies and requirements it put us all at complete ease and we had a wonderful afternoon. Thank you so much to everyone who made our afternoon so special. We will deffinately be returning. Lastly have to say such good value for money.

Came for a birthday celebration, which we booked online.. When we arrived they said they didn't receive our email , even though we had proof that it had be accepted, there was 13 of us , staff had to quickly put some tables together to accommodate us .. Food was ok but wasn't the best .. Service wasn't the best either .. All in all a very bad evening
