The Royal Hotel in Leeds

Very pleased to find a proper pub within (just about) walking distance from where we live. The beer garden is decent and the interior has plenty of period fixtures and fitting with lots of charm. How pubs used to be!

Visited The Royal several times,this time on Sunday for father's day with family.. I ordered a pork roast dinner, hub had burger chips & onion rings. On this occasion the pork was very pink not cooked properly and alot of fat which was disappointing.. Yorkshire pudding was good, but the vegetables were cold..the chef heated up my meal but by the time it came everyone else had finished. Desserts are traditional English puddings, i didn't have one this time but are usually very nice. Cosy pub with a fireplace friendly atmosphere and staff friendly.. Adequate seating inside and a few tables outside.. Clean toilets, and Street Parking.

Very good local for a great selection of real ales. And do a great quiz on a Wednesday night.

This is the forth time we've been here for food , there steak pies are amazing, to be honest all the food they serve are unbelievable amazing , would recommend a visit here 100%

Attended as part of a congregation using the function room. The posters on the wall are great, but some of them are not child-friendly (curse words), however, this does not reflect on the service and accessibility of the building. Very cheap and friendly. Huge beer garden round the back and appears to have a BBQ for use during summertime. Highly recommended.

We have just been for Sunday dinner and the food was amazing. I had the beef dinner and it was delicious I have to give the green beans themselves a shout out. My 13 year old had the royal burger and he said it’s the best burger he has ever had (it was massive). The service we received was outstanding the staff were so friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you

A real traditional pub we a well kept cellar.

We recently had a surprise party here for my wife. I have to say I was a little stressed at the thought of organising things but I needn't have bothered. The landlady's sorted everything for me. Decorations, food, music etc It was a fantastic night, everyone enjoyed the food, the atmosphere was perfect and everyone commented on what a great time they had. Thanks to all the staff who helped make it a night to remember. I will definitely be recommend the venue to anyone.

THE best cottage pie ever, roasts dinners are amazing too - even do food for the dog. Cracking pub and amazing food.

A good selection of regular changing ales 🍺 and tasty food, all at reasonable prices.

Really gone down the pan. A year ago we had to pray to get a table for Sunday lunch, a late call we asked have you any available, we're told yes and we asked to come at 1pm, the place was Empty not one other diner which we thought odd. We ordered 2 beers which were actually warm but he had got them from a fridge.. Then the lunch arrived, I just was like... Wtf is that, congealed looking yellow lumpy mash piled up with what looked like a week old steeped peas though the bar man had not stipulated the peas were mushy peas and I assumed garden peas so my fault for not asking I suppose. I'd have rather gone and given my £30+ to some poor homeless person. They used to be packed out for Sunday lunches and also did doggy Sunday lunches too. The dog lunches they used to serve up looked better than what we actually had serve up today. The woman wasn't around and no one was behind the bar as we left so just left the food on the table. Will Never be going back there.

Great local pub with a good selection of beers and the like. Nice setup/layout downstairs with good sized separate rooms. The upstairs room is a decent size and has its own separate bar. It makes the room great for private parties/functions/gigs.

Oh the pies! The reputation for their excellence is absolutely deserved. The food is uncomplicated and absolutely delicious! We don't get there often but always look forward to a fabulous pie!

Fantastic pub - good range of beers on, friendly staff - great spot for a pie & a pint in the evening after work. Food served 3pm-8pm Mon-Thurs and 12pm-5pm Fri-Sun.

Honestly the worst venue I have ever had the privilege of entering. Organised a gender reveal party in their upstairs room, £50 for the room and a £150 deposit. On arrival the 1st problem was the shared toilet had no lock so anyone could walk in on you (women and children were at this party) so I find this highly unacceptable. The upstairs bar only had flat coors on offer as they had no gas ready. The 1st people who ordered were waiting 30 minutes for a drink as they hadn’t set the bar up. One of my guests asked if they could order food but were told that because we didn’t ask for catering we couldn’t order from their menu either…. Strange one but fair enough. What annoyed me was being approached by a member of staff and being made to feel like my guests had done something wrong for asking a simple question. There was no music for the 1st 90 mins then they kept turning it off and on. We finally heard a full song played through as we were leaving. We were told we could take the balloons home the next day, but as I was walking down the street from the pub I got a phone call from one of my guests. I was informed that unless we remove the balloons right now we would lose our £150 deposit. When I arrived back at the pub I found one of my pregnant guests had been made to carry everything down the stairs! Not good! I entered the premises to let them know I was unhappy and that I would like deposit back there and then. So they barred me for being aggressive (trust me, if I was aggressive they would know) the next morning we received a phone call saying that they were withholding £30 from our deposit because it took the cleaners 2 hours to remove food stains. Funny because we didn’t have catering and your staff refused to let my guests order food. So we paid them £50 for an unprepared room, put hundreds of pounds behind their bar, did all the glass collecting throughout the event and they have the audacity to try withhold even more money from a couple expecting their 1st child. P.s we were told as we left that the room was fine and we didn’t need to sort anything else out! There were more problems as well but even writing about my disappointment with place is upsetting. Thank you royal pub for ruining such a joyous occasion -5*

One of the best pubs in Pudsey. Family and pets friendly, and you always feel welcome there. Great place to meet friends, have a drink after work, listen to a great music, watch footy, have a delicious Sunday roast, or to celebrate your birthday or any other special occasion. I was first introduced to this place by my good friend almost 10 years ago and visited many times since. This Thursday they organised a send off for my dear friend, the best send off one could wish for, with The mighty Cardinals playing great music. They took care of us as if we were a family, with a great food beautifully served and extremely friendly, hardworking staff looking after us. Highly recommended!

Sign in is required. Table service, quick and efficient. Didn't see much in place for Covid, aside from table social distancing.

First customer on a wet day; superb pint of cask and a delectable barmaid. Check out the Bentley Yorkshire Brewery stained glass in the back bar. A real pub.

One of the best pubs in Pudsey. Ample outdoor seating space, friendly and approachable bar staff and a decent selection of ales (they always have Punk IPA on tap). Great location (not far from Pudsey center) and the owner is dead friendly too. Cannot recommend this pub enough.

Visité un domingo muy ocupado con mamá. A pesar de que muchas mesas reservadas, el personal servicial y amable logró sentarnos.Maravilloso almuerzo del domingo, sabrosa carne de res y pollo perfectamente preparado. La mejor parte fue la salsa casera, llena de sabor y generosa porción.Muy recomendable pub local con un gran ambiente, volveremos pronto.

Came here after trying the Fleece for a Saturday afternoon drink. The fleece is not child friendly however The Royal was really welcoming, Lovely staff who were all accommodating of our 1 year old. Plenty of room so didn’t feel over crowded and Maintains traditional pub decor which we really liked. Will definitely be returning.

Lots of lovely beers, gins and all the usual drinks. The food is delicious and very fairly priced, even the dog can get a meal here. Lots of different groups meet up and there’s plenty of room for everyone.

Muchísimas gracias a Frankie y Joe y a todo el personal del Royal por ayudarme a que mi fiesta de cumpleaños 60 saliera tan bien. El lugar es perfecto para una banda en vivo con mucho espacio para cualquier bailarina. La comida del buffet frío y caliente era maravillosa y el chile vegetariano era para morirse. La cerveza era brillante y muchos de mis amigos y familiares comentaron sobre la selección de otras bebidas disponibles. Muchas gracias, si está buscando un lugar para una fiesta en Pudsey, o simplemente para ir a una buena cerveza, ¡no necesita buscar más!

Muti-room pub with horse shoe bar in the middle selling real ale, only two on my visit but it was a Tuesday. Local Leeds branch of motorcycle action group meet upstairs in a function room . Friendly lot . Worth a visit.
