Another sensational Christmas at this hotel. It is our fourth year on the trot as a family and it is first class! Huge thanks to Mike, Chris, Tim and Andrea and the rest of the staff for making our festive season so special nothing is too much trouble. It is a wonderful break away with exceptional food and you feel like you are family. The rooms are beautiful and spotlessly clean. Superb relaxing festive break away - thank you to all the team. We can't wait to come back and have booked already for next year !

This is my second visit. I love it here. The staff are welcoming, friendly nothing is to much trouble, they work really hard . The breakfast was the best, freshly cooked and really nicely presented. The room was comfortable and had a great night's sleep. Did not eat in the restaurant unfortunately as fullybooked. Had a snack lunchtime, toasted sandwich, made with really nice proper bread, and proper tasty ham and cheese 👍. Thank you Royal Hotel👍

A very short visit. The Bar man who was a Polish (sorry didn’t catch his name, and hopefully this identifies who he is) was very polite. Would not hesitate to book a stay here.

Great location and amazing dinner and breakfast on the Deal. However we all agreed that the staff in general were amazing, nothing too much trouble. Tim however was a true star and customer service is his natural skill. Smiling at 8pm and still at 8am when he greater us as we woke up!

Had a very pleasant 2 night stay at The Royal Hotel for our city getaway. Very conveniently located and literally across the road from the train station. The hotel staff were very friendly and welcoming our whole stay, always greeting us as we passed the reception. We booked a classic superior double, when we first arrived I was a little underwhelmed with the room as it looks different from the classic superior room on the website, however it was a lovely cosy room to come back to and we became fond of it by the time of departure. We were warned of hot water issues and encouraged to report back to reception if we had any issues, but the hot water worked fine for us when used. The room felt and looked clean. We found coffee stains on one of the white robes which wasn’t nice to find. We were also very grateful for the fan which was included in the room as it was quite hot overnight! The building is very old and quirky and has its charm, but feels a bit tired. I would definitely do a short stay here again in future. It was very pleasant!

Location is fantastic, just across the street from the Bath train station (but we didn’t hear the trains at all from our room). The room was cozy and well stocked, service was excellent, and a delicious hot breakfast was included. Would definitely recommend this place, and would stay here again in future.

My husband and I had a lovely break at The Royal Hotel celebrating our 30th Wedding Anniversary. The staff are so friendly and professional and we were made very welcome. We enjoyed two nights bed and breakfast and two evening meals and all food was amazing, including the champagne cream tea on our arrival. Thank you to all the staff working in the bar, restaurant and reception for making our stay really special and also thank you for the heart of chocolates in our room, such a lovely surprise. The hotel is perfect for exploring the city, and lovely to relax in the evening. Highly recommended. June and Dorian Gaskin

Nice hotel in a historic building. The entire interior breathes English history, starting with the furniture, the bathroom fittings and the wallpaper. Facilities for coffee etc. are lovingly provided in the room. The employees are consistently very friendly. The location opposite the train station also speaks for the hotel. It didn't bother us, but you have to accept a certain amount of noise, both from the street and from the house itself, which is due to its age.

I’ll start with the good bits - location is great, in central Bath opposite station which was my primary reason for choosing it, staff were lovely and pleasant. However, the room was terrible! It was cheap for central Bath at just over £100/night however that does not excuse the condition in which it was offered. If it was £50/night you wouldn’t complain too much. Not possible to plug your phone to charge and have bedside lamp on as plug is a single socket and seemed to be wired into a wall light switch. On the opposite wall there are 6 outlets?! The carpet was frayed and not fastened around edges, the shower had previously failed and there was a bodged peglar valve attached as flow adjustment. The bathroom was incredibly cramped and old with signs of black mould near the ceiling. The radiator had a piece of metal sprained and screwed against the valve and wall to keep it on. Furthermore the windows were obscured and upon opening them I found out why it was a tip at the other side! The room and to some extent the rest of the hotel is old and worn and in need of major repair and restoration. The dining room had water stains on the ceiling ( as did the wall at the side of the bed) and paper had tears and was sagging. I don’t like leaving negative reviews but the proprietor of this building needs to take a good look at what they are offering. Just as a footnote I stayed in a hotel in central London for less money for significantly better conditions. I asked reception to change rooms but they couldn’t accommodate both days I’d booked so stayed put.

Perfect location, cute little historic hotel. Clean rooms and friendly staff. Enjoyed the breakfast in a traditional setting! The only thing I can comment is the water pressure and noise, but hey it's right at the centre of Bath! Price wise it's okay.

The hotel is going through some renovations and we found it generally quite noisy. The room was very clean and staff are very lovely and helpful in all areas and the breakfast is not bad. However the food in the restaurant has a very dated dinner menu, the prawn cocktail which comes warm on a bed of cold lettuce is just weird and I was advised not to order the tuna because it comes well done as its frozen. The steaks also appear to be frozen and de-frosted as I ordered mine rare but it arrived well done. The chef did replace it which took a good 20 minutes but the second one was not really any better and I didn't eat it. The Diane sauce also tasted like corn flour. We had the 'High Tea which comes as part of the spa package and is 2 scones, jam and cream. I had to ask for the advertised champagne which the waitress said was not included until I explained this was advertised on the website. She finally served the two glasses and said 'Sorry, no one has asked for it before!' The hotel is surrounded by 100's of restaurants and so I would suggest not to book in the hotel restaurant until they really improve their offer. The Therma Spa which was part of the package was excellent and I would highly recomend.

We chose this restaurant for Christmas dinner because of its location, but it turned out to be a complete fiasco. The food was cold and of poor quality, the service was incredibly slow, and we had different servers attending to us without any consistency?? For the price we paid, the service was unacceptable. While the restaurant has a cozy atmosphere, it wasn't enough to salvage our experience. I don’t recommend this place

Plenty of competition for brunch in Bath but this was a great experience. Brunch at 9.30. Restaurant was very quiet. Food was delicious: smashed avo and grilled toms on toast with lots seeds and herbs; and the birchermuesli was delicious not too sweet. Excellent coffee, second cup free. Service by our Italian waiter (sorry I didn’t ask your name) was delightful and efficient. Cheaper than our hotel breakfast too!! Great job.
