Grim dive occupied by losers. Scared of anyone that isn’t local corrupting their gene pool. Would recommend avoiding if you aren’t attracted to members of your own family.

Worst bar in Helensburgh (and that's saying a lot because Spoons is really dire!) Locals only, they don't like outsiders. The bar maid lacks the power to deal with the rugulars's attitude toward outsiders. Absolutely terrible.

We went there for a couple of drinks after dinner to watch champions league. Drinks had been delicious and the atmosphere was excellent. And even friendly Staff as well!

Quaint pub on the main drag in the town. Enough seats / tables and friendly, prompt service. Good selection of beers and spirts at fair prices. What more to say - it is a pub and toilets were clean.

Used to go here every single weekend and it was the only place we wanted to go on weekends. Great staff, great atmosphere, great prices, great karaoke.. but since it’s been taken over recently it’s just awful. No respect for customers, no awareness of who’s been waiting longest at the bar - the same person was served twice while I waited at the bar and I didn’t get served once. It’s disappointing and sad because this used to be the best place to go!

We popped in to escape the cold and found a cozy friendly proper pub. Spotlessly clean with really interesting nick naks and the landlady was lovely.

Stopped for a bar lunch. Excellent attentive waiter service. Food, which arrived from a nearby hotel, was very poor quality: Chips overcooked in old fat - inedible. Hotdog burger in "home cooked roll" with sauerkraut was edible but cheapest quality dry brioche roll and cheap hotdog, jarred sauerkraut and a squirt of mustard. Fine if it cost £2.50. Not fine for £7.50 ....and hugely slow in arriving - about 50 minutes - Waiter was attentive and apologetic for delay. Kindly offered free round of any drinks we wanted. No fault there at all. The failt lies in the kitchen in the hotel which supplies the food sending out completely carelessly cooked, poor quality and cheap food.Shockingly disappointing food . Nice looking old pub too, and nice waiter.

Sat outside for an hour. Sun was out in November so it was nice. Barman was really good. Will go back again.

We visited early Sunday evening for a curry. Service could not have been better - friendly, cheerful and quick but unhurried. We had chicken tikka bahar (like a masala) and my partner had a jalfrezi style curry. The sag aloo was also yummy. Poppadums came with homemade unusual chutneys which were great, very tasty indeed. Cobra Lager nicely chilled - we would happily return again. Bill was extremely reasonable, too. Highly recommend!

Absolutely delicious food and such a warm welcome from the delightful staff especially our waiter who had only just started and had come from Peru. Sorry, I can't remember the name of our waiter but he was utterly charming and attentive. We will be back and would recommend The Grey Gull 100%

In our opinion not recommended The location is ok, right in the center. Some of the hotel's own parking spaces are in front of the door We didn't like anything else in this hotel. It was probably the worst hotel on our entire UK trip. We booked a better room with a view. I don't want to know what the standard rooms in this hotel are supposed to be like, but the room we got was dark, very worn and very dirty. Even though the relatively friendly manager at the reception assured us that it was the best room in the hotel, we don't want to believe him: firstly, because it would be a real shame for the entire hotel, and secondly, because it's not true: us We've already seen that there were rooms facing the sea in the same category, where it certainly wasn't as loud. And our room had a window facing the promenade with several bars and cafes, so it was very loud until late at night
