This is a little known Gem. One of the best pub/restaurants in the area. We travel from Huddersfield for the comprehensive menu of starters, mains, and deserts, oh and the beers are good too. The food is excellent with accompanying side dishes e.g. perfectly cooked vegetables, proper chips, or salads.The staff are great and very welcoming. Having discovered it we now go whenever we can and can highly recommend it. Five star well deserved

Food very nice, tasty and good size portions, unfortunately we had to wait 1 hour 15 mins for it to arrive by which time we had lost interest, poor service allround, young waitress looked uninterested, after 10 mins took our drinks order but left no menus to look at whilst we waited for the drinks to arrive, when we did get the menus it then took an age for her to come back and take our order, disappointing considering the very good reviews.

First time visiting this pub/restaurant. I was very impressed with the quality and quantity of the food. I had the pie, it did not disappoint, full of tender meat.

Met up with my 2 close friends on a Thursday evening, sun was out and we had a drink outside on the terracing which was a great start to the evening. We had a table booked for an evening meal, and were soon seated in nice surroundings , modern makeover and comfortable. 2 ordered the fish and chips and 1 the Royal pie, their speciality. The food came soon enough, lovely portions, and piping hot. Service is brisk and polite by the attentive ladies on duty that evening. None of us left a morsel. One of the ales on offer is Timothy Taylors landlord, a popular brew. The Gastro pub was fully booked we were told, its a popular eating out venue as we found . There is a good selection on starters, mains, puddings as you would expect, . The food is well prepared and served. We could find no fault, other than we had to leave later on as time had flown . I ordered the gammon chips pineapple and egg … I didn’t receive the egg or pineapple

Arrived at 7 45pm. We were greeted by been told last order was 8 00pm and if we wanted to eat to sit down and order immediately

Food was salty and tasteless very disappointing

The Royal does quality food and very reasonably priced.

Paid extra 3 pound for pigs in blankets got 2 also the it's so small 19 pound never again

Beautiful as always .. just what I needed on a miserable Sunday afternoon

Went for my birthday lunch and when it arrived it all looked great but thats about it. My haddock sandwich was bland and it had thick soggy batter with absolutely shocking chips, 4 out of our group struggled eating the chips and all had soggy fish sandwiches. It has really gone down hill since our last visit. Staff were great and always have been but the food was a let down. Thank you.

First time at the Royal, excellent. Very much enjoyed.

Our daughter is vegan and just one option for vegans: pizza. Unfortunately, pizzas had sold out, so our daughter opted for a pasta bolognese, made with no meat, which was very good. Staff were friendly and obliging and handled the pizza alternative very well without making us feel awkward. All our other meals were great and very well cooked and served, we were very happy with the service.

Just had an amazing meal with my mum, sisters and nephew. We were all absolutely delighted with our meals. Can't fault the place at all. Staff super attentive too. Will definitely be going again. Highly recommend. ☺️☺️☺️

A good Sunday Lunch, huge portions so lots of food for a decent price. The full menu is available as well as a choice of up to 3 meats in your roast dinner. TVs and music on creating atmosphere but not loud or distracting. Lovely staff doing a great job. Cash preferred but card payment available.

Food was lovely, had garlic mushrooms then fish and chips. Unfortunately i was too full to have a dessert! There was 5 of us and everyone enjoyed the food and the evening. Staff were helpful and friendly. Will definitely be back.

Came here on Sunday for lunch with my friend. Absolutley delicious. The staff are very nice and welcoming. I had the creamy garlic mushrooms...best ever! Then the roast beef and then rhubarb and apple crumble. We sat outside afterwards enjoying a drink in the sunshine. Lovley place to go with friends and family or for a cosy meal for 2.

We had a beautiful meal for all the family. Everything was spot on, well cooked, fresh and plentiful. Friendly waitress service and good value.

The Royal food is outstanding… way better than your average pub food. The ale and wine is also excellent. Would highly recommended 👍👍👍

Although the end of terrace stone building opposite an industrial site with mismatched decor and furniture appeared unpromising we went because of good reviews. The homemade food was really good, using high quality ingredients and generous portions. The beers and cider are well kept. A fair amount of parking space outside. Would highly recommend.

The food would of been delicious apart from the driver going round the whole of bd12 before delivering my food first n when it finally gt delivered i was left with 3 onion rings in my box n a few chips left in box n my food luke warm the driver gt free takeaway absolutely appalling restaurant 5 stars driver minus 5. Just eat sort ur drivers out.

Where to even start? Terrible service waitress’ were so rude and cocky one making it very clear she was hungover food took over an hour in dribs and drabs and when it came out orders were wrong for the staff to tell us we was wrong (she read the order back to us when we ordered) food was cold gammon really dry none of the food is worth the prices given the lettuce core in my burger literally the actual core no lettuce left on it staff not thinking there was anything wrong with that! If I could give 0 stars I would awful experience and DO NOT recommend!!

Visited today 24th February with my son and his girlfriend. We had the 10oz steak we don't like ut rare so the waiter was explaining which was the best way to have it cooked. When he brought them they were cooked to perfection and no fat (which I loved!) It was just pure steak you didn't have any fat to cut off. My sons girlfriend had the lamb cutlets and again it was perfectly cooked but it's also the presentation too all the dishes were presented perfectly. It was getting busy but the service was really good and our drinks were quickly brought to us. Will definitely come again

Been twice and got the steak pie both times. Excellent quality, really well cooked. Doesn't look anything special from outside but well worth it. They treat the ale well too

We enjoyed a fantastic meal, for a special family birthday which the staff were amazingly accommodating about. The staff are lovely, really friendly. The food is fantastic, we were blown away by it. Its a real hidden gem and we'll definitely be returning.

Gem of a place, great food, and even better service. If not local don't be put off by industrial area, I promise you well worth the visit.

Went for Christmas with the family. The meatball starter was nice, however the main course was cold, the turkey gravy was lumpy and the chocolate cheesecake was more like a mousse. On a positive note they sold Landlord and the drinks prices are very reasonable.

We arrived early, but the table was ready. I had the chicken parmo with chips. It was delicious and gluten free, so perfect for me. I ate the lot and could have licked the plate. Please pass my compliments to the chef. The service was excellent thanks to the friendly and efficient staff. I came with a friend for a catch up. We didn't feel under pressure to leave. I will definitely eat here again.

My family and I had a great birthday meal. The food was lovely, the Vocation Bread and butter pints were grand and the service from the ladies was superb 👍👍

The calzone tonight which I normally find delicious from u I if think uve changed the chicken n ham which weren't as good as usua andl the pizza was filled with about 1/2 kilo of cheese which was too much n made the base go soggy cos of the amount of grease from it n the top was burnt. I've never had a problem with ur food before its normally delicious but tonight I'm left very disappointed.

Didn't know this place existed and you gave to be on your toes to find it but it's worth it. The food service and atmosphere were great. We will return. Highly recommended 👍

The best Sunday roast and pie you'll ever have!

Food was delivered late but that wasn't the fault of The Royal as they didn't have a just eat driver so they had to send one of their own employees out to deliver it. Food was still hot despite it being late. I would order stain as it was lovely

The lamb skewers were a disgrace so small and were cooked so much that they weren’t edible, even the dog refused! The chips were horrible hard wedges that weren’t cooked, not chips at all!! I’ve eaten in the pub and it’s always been nice but think we will have our Christmas meal elsewhere now! Everything was cold too! Worst take away I’ve ever had from just eat!!

Expansive and small portions for what it was. Salmon and potatoes were good but lack of veg's for the price seems ABIT stingy. Prawn starters tasted Indian sauce rather than garlic tomatoes.

to exspensive for what they provide had better for half the price £3.00 for a tiny pot of pease it said seaonal vegatables would not recomend

Nicely cooked quality food and even a courtesy call to say the just eat driver was late proper customer service which is becoming very rare on just eat highly recommended will order again and thank you for the extra gift

An excellent visit to The Royal. We're so lucky to have this place close by. The staff are first class. Friendly, helpful and polite. Food is some of the best I've tried around. And the decor and ambience are really nice. Keep up the very good work.

Absolutely beautiful Sunday roast, everything cooked to perfection.

My first thought was that it looked expensive, but I decided to risk it. I was not disappointed. Obviously home made pie rammed full of meat, like Dr Who's TARDIS, I swear it was bigger on the inside. Will have to wait to make room for dessert, but have high hopes and you've sent plenty of custard. Thanks for being worth it!

Sunday roast came hot n everything tasted delicious. The chicken calzone was so nice. Bakewell tart was so yummy u could really taste the jam which was great. The chips were tasty but it would be good if u could put an option for no salt. Will definitely be ordering again soon.🙂😋

We came To the royal as a family of three in the school holidays. All of us had an absolutely delicious meal. The loaded steak burger is outstanding. We ordered a sundae to hare as a pudding and all I can say is wow. All three of us dug in and it was still plenty. They have really got everything just right. The lady serving us could not have been friendlier or more helpful. Can’t wait to return

This is a lovely place for a nice meal. Generous portions, lovely food, I've had salmon twice both different menu items (the menu is seasonal) and both times it's been absolutely amazing. Service is also great - efficient and really friendly. Would definitely recommend 👌

Just had one of the best Sunday Lunches ever. We are regulars here and they never disappoint. Never had a bad course let alone meal! Generous portions, excellent service and well kept beer. Had Steak 3 times and each time just as ordered. Not many places could manage that.

Fantastic food and service! Thoroughly enjoyed our family meal on Sunday. The menu is very comprehensive with lots to choose from. We had Lasagne, steak pie and a roast for mains and chocolate cake, sticky toffee pudding and Cherry Bakewell for pudding. All the dishes were delicious! We will definitely come back soon!!
