We arrived late because of road closures and the staff and kitchen went to some lengths to ensure we got a meal to enjoy and a warm welcome . We did have a room up in the top floor which resulted in us bumping our heads quite frequently on the eaves so if you are taller than us I would request not rooms 8 or 9 ! The breakfast and evening menus are delicious and service while not brisk reflects the cooking to order . Wine list is overpriced but some good wines on there . The surrounding countryside is stunning , our dogs were very welcome and there is an EV charger in the hotel car park . For us it was a perfect setting , even with a few head bumps !

My wife and I went for their Valentine's Day six plate tasting dinner. Absolutely terrific and one of the nicest meals I have eaten in a while. I've since been told that they have employed a new chef, whewther the case or not, whoever put this together knows what they're doing. We'll definitely go back for dinner in the near future.

I stayed for a night recently and had a super stay and was well looked after by the hotel staff. The hotel is in a fantastic location in the heart of the Cairngorms and very easy to get to. It’s a traditional highland hotel which has a slightly surprising high end restaurant. The hotel is just as you want from a highland hotel - easy to get to, plenty of parking, open log fires and a snug bar area beside the restaurant. My room was warm, comfortable and very clean, with a modern shower room and plenty of hot water from a powerful rain shower, just the thing after a bike ride! I dined in the restaurant and was very impressed, they serve a mix of what I’d class as high end dishes and traditional favourites, all presented very well. My chorizo and black pudding starter was a great twist on a classic combination and my burger was excellent, a proper burger and chips, made with good beef and served with hand cut chips. As well as the variety of dishes there are a lot of gluten and dairy free, and vegan dishes so there really is something for everyone. You can also eat in the bar beside the fire for something a bit less formal. There’s an extensive wine list as well and a huge selection of whisky and locally produced spirits. In fact, there was very much a theme of sourcing local produce.

We stayed at the Rowan Tree travelling up to the North West and booked in for dinner bed and breakfast. We were travelling with our dog and the hotel was more than accommodating, putting us up in the bar, next to the fire for dinner. The dinner was superb, being a vegetarian and a meat eating couple, we often find that one of us does not always get a great meal. We both had an AMAZING meal and staff were brilliant throughout.

Our fault this experience didn't live up to scratch - we are not 'fine dining guests!'. Thought the food too pricey for what you received - the Cod dish could have done with being a bigger piece (for a woman) as the vegetables are smooth paste on the plate. The tables are too close together to justify the 'fine dining' experience as you are too close to the next people eating. The hotel is top notch and I would consider staying B & B and the dining room is beautifully set out (just not for the cost of the meal). Service was excellent and bar and lounge area lovely to relax in before eating. Our fault as I say.

This hotel does all the basics well. Location is excellent with walks and views of loch and hills. The rooms are warm and spotlessly clean. Service is friendly and pleasantly informal. However, it is the restaurant for which this hotel excels. The plates are beautifully presented and served. Given the quality of the cooking the prices represent great value for money in my opinion. Highly recommend for a stay or simply for a drop in dinner.

Had a wonderful overnight stay. Friendly, welcoming staff. Quirky but very comfortable bedroom. This was the last night of a 9-night tour and I think we saved the best till last. Had the venison for dinner which was out of this world! Breakfast was also excellent. Cosy bar and coffee lounge. Will definitely be back.

We really appreciated being able to stay here for one night on our way home from holiday. The hotel looks great and our room was very comfortable. We also enjoyed a delicious dinner in the dog friendly part of the restaurant. Many thanks to all the staff. Their friendly and welcoming manner made our stay very pleasant.

Stayed and ate at The Rowan Tree 2 nights in July. The hotel room was cosy and comfortable with everything you need for a weekend stay. My meals both nights were served in a timely manner. I had soup both nights which, while a little on the thinner side for my taste, were very tasty. The burger was fat and juicy while the tempura haddock was lovely. Would eat here again

Dinner, overnight stay and breakfast. Fantastic place and food was the best of our 10 day stay in Scotland. Definitely recommend.

Regular for years and visited last week. Left due to belligerent staff - asked for bottle of sparkling water and was served a glass - asked for a bottle and two different staff members tried to tell me it was the same thing - finishing with “ it’s only water and turning away from table “. I left to eat elsewhere. Shame - used to be good place to visit. Not rushing back anytime soon to revisit the water bottle police .

Food was good, maybe slightly overdone vegetables but that also comes down to personal preference. Nice staff and good service!

Small venue with a huge impact and friendly staff. The seafood menu is great, the cocktail menu impressive, but the sticky toffee pudding is top notch and should not be missed. Best sticky in Scotland.

We found this place by chance, having a flat tire and needing to stop. It ended up being one of our favorite experiences. THANK YOU to the staff/owners for looking after us before you opened, and for being so hospitable. We sincerely appreciate your kindness and loved our early lunch before the tow truck arrived. Best shortbread I've EVER had (they gave us the recipe and I made it the day after I arrived home!). I will never visit Scotland without swinging by to visit them again.
