Lovely friendly staff but food was very disappointing. Had roast dinner - meat was ok and Yorkshire pud was nice but veg was cold, broccoli was pretty much raw, potatoes had very hard skins and not much flavour and parsnips were over cooked. Had hoped this would be better than the average carvery meal but the veg was much worse. Recommend you avoid the roast dinner!

Husband had to ask twenty minutes after ordering our drinks where they were - we were told because it was a very “fancy wine” it’s taking a while to open - strange. Then didn’t even pour the wine for us - odd. Used to come here in 2017/2018 and it was fabulous, see all the reviews here on Tripadvisor so bad, we were cautious, but with fond memories wanted to return. No camembert cheese to start - none left! Why are you not listening to your reviews. Service total disaster - the changes you need to implement are not rocket science. Bringing out sides 30 minutes after you have served mains, this is just basic stuff. Toilets filthy, mould, cob webs - floor needs a major scrub. Has this place changed hands or something - I cannot believe how down hill it’s gone Cauliflower cheese cold and no seasoning Dauphinois potatoes warm, little seasoning Lamb cold but tasty Carrots lovely Pie tasty but with flaky puff pastry - not a real pie, make it a proper pie rather than a stew with a pastry lid And not once were we asked during our meal is everything ok, nor were we asked when they cleared our plates was the food ok - not a word which is very telling. A very mixed review …. We were left disappointed that the food has gone down hill (reflected in the other reviews), service has gone down hill but it was nice to be back in a familiar spot. The bottle of wine we shared was very good.

While the location is lovely on a sunny day and staff were perfectly pleasant, we waited a long time for our food, and were very disappointed by what finally arrived. We all had Sunday roasts, the meat was dry and very over cooked, the potatoes were advertised as “ruffled garlic & herb roast potatoes”, but turned out to be unseasoned and like most things on the plate, lacklustre. Very overpriced for a disappointing plate of food.

I had quite high expectations for a sunday dinner here as last time i tried to walk in as a table of 2 with no booking they had ran out of sunday dinner.. So we booked last night as a table of 5 and we were excited for it. The food itself was very average, one medium sized yorkshire and the potatos were not very flavoured at all. I was happy with the portion size of the meat and that was about it. Our wait for food was very long, there was a couple next to us who had gone through 2 courses and we were still waiting for our food to arrive. It arrived pretty much cold, the gravy included - the only thing that was hot were the vegetables!! We sent all of our plates back to be reheated (i hate to be that person who complains about anything in a restaurant as i used to work in hospitality myself and i know things happen) and they came back the same as they originally arrived (still cold). We decided to firm it and just eat the food anyway because we were all starving, when our servers checked back we just agreed and said everything was all good even though it wasnt because we didnt want to trouble them even more. I dont recommend for group bookings or a sunday dinner. on a lighter note staff were very friendly and attentive, and the crumble we has for dessert was really nice.

4pm 2/8 very sunny day so the pub was virtually empty as everyone was outside. The bar area was empty except 1 woman with a few kids being served so waited patiently over the service screen (check camera) around 2 minutes till sale completed. A guy walked through the front door and received immediate service while I was ignored/blanked by MR beard and glasses. I don't pay any of my money to this sort of establishment though stupidly my partner required a rest /drink as athritic so she paid....never again is my motto

A very imposing pub with a casual and formal eating areas. Low beams, tiled floor and wood bar. The menu is the same whether you eat in the bar area or the restaurant. Be prepared for a slow service at peak periods at the bar, for food and if you can find a seat. Book ahead in the restaurant if important lunch/dinner. Menu is and wines are limited but will cater for dietary requirements. Children, including babies, and dogs were in abundance. Outside seating areas available but avoid the one on the main street, which may look inviting in the sunshine, but along a bury arterial road.

I booked for Christmas dinner Eaten there loads of times and food was always excellent ! No Christmas Day was absolutely shocking ! Tin potatoes, frozen Yorkshire pudding, veg well I don’t even know what what going on with that ! Totally spoiled our Christmas Day Was given a voucher to go again We did and total let down, starters mixed up, wrong food brought to our table, and same frozen veg on the Sunday roast ! We won’t be returning

I visited Leeds for a long weekend. I always try source a nice pub for food and drink. The Fox was recommended. I booked a table for 7 though arrived 4 ish for a few ales. 3 ales on , thought maybe more would be on. There was lots of empty tables but they were full of plates ,bowls and glasses, reminded me of a chain of cheap pubs that are everywhere. I ordered my roast beef but it arrived cold . It was heated up and returned to me . I couldn't eat the roast potatoes, very hard , The manager gave me a pudding on the house. I just think customer service is dead now. This is quite an expensive and supposedly upmarket pub . I was disappointed.

Most enjoyable visit at lunchtime. Excellent food, great atmosphere with friendly professional service provided by Rachel. The only downside was the condition of the men's toilets. These are very old and in need of refurbishment. Also, because of their age, it is difficult to keep them clean. Other than this, an excellent experience.

Wasn't overly impressed. Even though it's a local venue. Had the Sunday roast. Not sure what some of the roasted veg was. Think it started life as a parsnip. But ended up looking like gollums toe nail. The gravy on the plate was good. The gravy that came in the boat. Was as bitter as my ex wife. Generally felt a bit understaffed and lackluster of good service. Expensive food r what it is. Even though it's only a 5 minute walk away. I will still avoid it.

We ate at the fox today as a family of three, we were greeted by a warm welcome & a lovely warm & cosy venue with roaring fires throughout. The service was great & the food fantastic. We had the trio of roasts, a roast beef dinner & a child’s menu lunch. All plates cleared 👌 We’ll definitely be back again soon. Thanks to Sally our server.

Out for a walk on Saturday in Roundhay park we came across your lovely pub and restaurant. On entering the building we were welcomed by a lovely chap called Lee and whom delt with all our needs. Looking around we found your place to be very clean and tidy including your staff. The meals that were being served looked delicious. We will certainly be calling again and trying out those delicious meals.

I love this place to come for lunch or dinner with or without my children, food spot on and great service as always from lee.

We went on a Sunday afternoon, so there was the Sunday roast menu, plus a few other items. The place was very busy, so we had to wait a few minutes for a table, which was fine, as we did just turn up. This place has improved in the last couple of years. A while back, the waiting staff didn't have a clue and were miserable and unprofessional, and the food used to be very poor. OH had roast pork, and said it was excellent. It was a good portion, and the roast potatoes were great. The vegetables weren't the best as it included sprouts, without any warning, and as sprouts are a crowd-splitter, it would have been better to have included that they were there in the description. The other veggies were fine. It would have been good to have some apple sauce with the pork, but I know it's me being petty. I had seabass with chorizo, which was very tasty. It was only warm and not hot, and tasted like it had been stood a few minutes waiting for the other dish, but other than that, it was excellent. The chorizo was excellent quality and cooked well. The service was great. The staff were friendly, polite and professional. The place was busy, but they were efficient. Overall, the food went beyond expectations as we've had diabolical food and service here in the past, but we were pleasantly surprised. Considering this place is in a "posh" area, the wine selection is quite poor. A few bottles of expensive "treat" wines wouldn't go a miss, they're all standard wines you get anywhere, it would be nice to go and have something special, they don't need to stock loads of cases. The only letdown is the noise. There were far too many children who were just left to run around and scream by their selfish parents. I was walking to the loo and a child physically ran into me and pushed past, but as is often the case, the parents ignored the child. I'm glad I'm not elderly or frail or I would have gone flying. A family actually sat their babies on the tables, which was far from hygienic.

I had fish cakes, which were ok but very thin. I had expected them to be thick like those you can get in supermarkets. I would have preferred to have had one thick one to two thin ones. The Roundhay Fox is probably the most famous pub in Roundhay area. I targeted it for a couple of years and I finally went there for a Sunday roast. We went there with our dog and there is a massiva area where you can sit. Staff professional and fast service. Sunday roast with chicken, lamb and pork, wow!
