We had the Mother's Day menu. Plenty to choose from on the menu. The delicious food was cooked by Darren. We were served by Bill. Bill is friendly, attentive and nothing was too much trouble for him. Thank you to all at Roundhay Fox

Absolutely stunning place! Anna could not have given better service. Was so lovely. The signature burger was cooked perfectly by james aswell! Was recommended to us by a close friend and would 100% recommend to anyone who asks! Host, bar staff, servers and everyone in between that works there were incredibly friendly and polite :)

Always great food here. On this particular occasion I dined with my sister and small niece. Leo was our server as was a delight, she was fanatic with my niece too. Can’t wait to come back, food was amazing

Our our server was awesome and to be honest she made up for the food - which was pretty cold when we received it. Being a Sunday roast it’s really important to keep the holding temperatures perfect (Worth noting I’ve had a perfect roast here before) which at £20 a main course I would expect it to be. Lovely dessert as usual at the fox and the starter was also perfect. Thankyou

The food was lovely and the service was excellent. The only improvement recommended is to ensure the soup and roast potatoes arrive hot at the table. They were warm but not hot. Everything else was excellent. Our server Ori was proactive, helpful and enthusiastic - thank you and really well done. Regards Kieran

The team at Roundhay Fox were fantastic. We were celebrating as a family a very special 80th birthday and the pub were so accommodating and patient. The food was delicious & the service perfect. A big shout out to our waitress Anna & chef John and a huge thank you to all the team for making it a very relaxed and enjoyable celebration! Xx

We booked 15 minutes before arriving and our party of 6 had a lovely meal. Front of house, Laura, was great, really welcoming and friendly. The food was good and a nice comfy atmosphere. We would go back.

Been here a number of times. Good for drink only. Food is very low quality.

Absolutely lovely but however it is beyond cold in there. Last 4 visits been uncomfortably cold and made us leave after a few drinks. please sort out the temperature! Was warmer outside on an early March night.

Love it here at the roundhay fox! Friendly service from Anna today thank you! And delicious fish finger sandwich, beef brisket sandwich (although more gravy please John!!). But the garlic mushrooms were the best!

We had lunch at the Roundhay Fox on Thursday 6.3.25. It's such a lovely pub and has a cosy and welcoming vibe. We were me by Bill who was very friendly and efficient and has us seated at a lovely table in the restaurant immediately. Our lunch was cooked by Graeme and it was absolutely delicious. I had smoked haddock and spinach fish cakes followed by fruit crumble and custard. John had gammon and eggs and also had the fruit crumble. We absolutely love this pub, it is a little gem, we will be back soon. Thanks for a wonderful lunch.

Went here while out on a day trip i had the rib eye stake.. it was lovely cooked to perfect so tasty 😋 I had well done to medium. Will return agian. 5* to the cheff

Another great visit. I even overheard someone on the next table (I believe his name was Leonard) say he has never felt more welcome than he did at the Fox. I couldn't agree more, Leonard!

Looked like a nice pub with a decent selection of ales, my partner and I popped in for a swift half and a coffee to whet our whistles but 25 mins after my partner returned from the bar with my half pint, the coffee still hadn't arrived. Went to the bar to ask and was told that they didn't have any oat milk so hadn't made the coffee. Thanks for letting us know 🙄 - I wouldn't have bothered with the half pint. Terrible communication considering we were sat about 5 metres from the bar.

We came to try the Roundhay Fox for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. Food cooked by John was very tasty and Ori gave us excellent service. We will definitely frequent the pub again, maybe next time with our dog as they are allowed in the bar.

Really disappointed with today’s birthday lunch at the Roundhay Fox. 2 hours from ordering to main courses arriving. Sat at drafty table due to fire escape being opened and closed constantly. Given a free round of drinks due to poor service but very disappointed- won’t be returning.

Enjoyed our birthday celebrations and food was great but bill came in higher then expected because of expensive wine x3 but we got the bill shared eventually after splitting it between us.

This was a last-minute booking, for a Sunday early evening. I signed up to Vintage Inns and received a welcome offer of £10 off £40 spent but admit I did not read the small print. We ordered a standard Sunday Roast, i had the Belly Pork and crackling with apple, ruffled roast potatoes, and usual vegetables. My food arrived, no crackling or apple, the potatoes resembled well tanned leather both in look and texture, accompanied with cold vegetables, with a rubbery and cold yorkshire. I did say the potatoes were not edible and mentioned the lack of crackling, I was offered crackling but declined, given the state of the potatoes, I didn't think my teeth would take it. My OH's food was slightly warmer. He enjoyed his meat, but vegetables were cold and he had the same leathery potatoes. At the end I was offered a free pudding, I declined I didn't want dessert, just a decent meal. I found out about the small print for the voucher when I offered it up. Apparently, you need to have it for 6 hours before it can be activated, an odd t&c but again I hadn't read the small so my fault. I don't recommend this pub and it's such a shame it used to vibrant with a great menu and reliable great tasting food.

Came in today with my husband and toddler, hoping for a nice meal after visiting Tropical World. I’m absolutely disgusted by the service. The waitress told us we had to go to the bar to order food and drinks, which is usually done at the table. Also others were ordering at the table at the same time. When we explained we were with a toddler, we asked twice if she could take our order at the table for safety reasons as I’m immobile and we have a toddler. She refused, saying it was “too busy” and we had to go to the bar ourselves. My husband had to carry our child, wait in a long queue at the bar, and then carry the drinks back to our table—all while the waitress did nothing to assist. This is absolutely unacceptable. It’s clear this place is not child-friendly nor friendly for people with disabilities. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place—there are so many better options out there.

Pleasant surroundings. Quality of food poor. No problem with the staff. As requested by Akira, the quality of the meat in the steak and ale pie was poor. Fatty and chewy. The potatoes served with the fish cakes were not cooked long enough, hence they were hard. As these were three out of the four meals ordered,we were not impressed.

The food, cooked by John, was delicious and the service, by Julie, was lovely. Would highly recommend!

We booked a birthday meal on Saturday for 11 of us and it was great. The menu provided a varied choice for everyone and all the food, cooked by James, was delicious. Being a big party we were in a separate alcove close to the open fire creating a lovely homely feel. We were ably served by Rosie who did a great job juggling not just our table but several others too and a good time was had by all.

Our food (cooked by John) was absolutely delicious and service by Laura was good. The only negative issue was it was quite a long wait for food.

Anna was really attentive, friendly and polite. The food was overall really good quality however some dishes were made incorrectly which was disappointing. The atmosphere was lovely the fires were lit which some of us enjoyed however the smell was abit overpowering. Would definitely go back

Always a lovely pub with a warm atmosphere. Food always is great hearty pub food compliments to the chef - John. Second time returning and was served by the same lady (Anna I think) who is always so welcoming and helpful. Great for a quick bite even better for a Sunday roast.

Such a lovely traditional pub, serving great food with a warm welcome (and a roaring fire on a cold winter day). Our host, Julie, was especially helpful and made our welcome even warmer.

Drinks were good and the service from the young manager excellent, but isn't it about time you guys got some money spent on ya. They were threatening to refit those toilets 8 years ago and ya furniture's had it.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch in the Roundhay Fox today. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming with real fires burning - very cosy. I had the vegetarian option and it was beautiful with generous portions. The service was excellent - Laura was really lovely and looked after us perfectly. We’ll be back soon 👌

I always eagerly anticipate my visits to the Roundhay Fox, and am never disappointed. The food, service, and atmosphere never fail to live up to expectation. James who prepared and cooked our meals, and Kiera who interacted with us delightfully while delivering excellent service, deserve the highest praise. Here’s to the next time …. soon!

A lovely brunch, sat by a log fire, very cosy on a cold day. Catered for children and various changes to their menu choices brilliantly. Bill served us and couldn’t have been more helpful, will be back!

Mid-week trip with my husband and once again you didn't disappoint

Half an hour for a children's tomato pasta that cost £8.50 and not only was the smallest pasta dish ever but had obviously been microwaved as was half cold. Biggest rip off ever.

Warm and comfortable atmosphere, nice staff, music, fireplaces and a good beer selection!! Spacious and has multiple areas, you don’t feel how busy it gets

Great lunch today - Laura was really understanding of our afternoon schedule & kindly made sure we were served in enough time to facilitate our afternoon appointment. The food was lovely too!

Always a great meal experience. Anna was very helpful especially regarding letting us know about the gluten free options.

Updated from my previous review from a few years ago. Roundhay Fox have really turned things around. Food usually ranges from good to excellent and service is usually good. The best thing however is the ambiance. There are fewer better places to eat on a cold winter afternoon when they have the fires on.
