The Round Bush in Hertsmere

Went for lunch on a Sunday recently. Wish I hadn't bothered as it was a disappointment. Started with having difficulties parking despite having a blue badge. The disabled bay was really difficult to get into and out of as the car park is small and it was full by 12.30. Our group booking given tables in the small and busy bar area. The tables were sticky, and the cutlery mismatched. The menu was way overpriced for the quality of food that was served to our group. The first example is the nachos. The bowl was filled with the broken dregs from the bag of nachos. The chicken burgers lacked chicken. The compressed processed meat did not warrant the cost or title of being a chicken burger. The roast potatoes looked anemic. They may have been slightly roasted, but they were soft and lacked any flavour / seasoning. Nice big garden. Clean toilets.

I cannot fault this at all. From the time of entering we were shown to our seats offered drinks so we dicnt have to go t the bar the menu was extensive enough for some quite outrageous allergies and food nuances. Lovely place well worth a visit and a re visit

Absolutely love the Round Bush Pub, I have always had amazing service and amazing food. The staff are extremely kind and friendly and quick to help with any requests, the food is always absolutely exquisite, and its always a joy to be inside as it's so beautiful! It is always a good day when I have dined at the Round Bush pub, and I have taken several of my friends there and they have loved it too and subsequently brought their families with them to also experience it! Would really recommend, beautiful pub in a beautiful location and truly amazing service. Thank you all so much for all you do!

Cosy pub with great food and lovely staff. The chicken burger, fish and chips and burgers are a big favourite. Really nice location and fab garden when the weather is nice. They open at 12 Noon.

We recently hired the back room at The Roundbush for our daughter’s baptism reception, and we couldn’t have been happier with our experience. We had 34 adults and 7 children in our group. From start to finish, the staff were incredible. We planned it with Shannon and she couldn’t have been more accommodating and made sure everything ran smoothly. The food was outstanding – we all had the roast dinner (as it was a Sunday), which was absolutely delicious, with perfectly cooked meats and all the trimmings. They also catered wonderfully for a mix of vegetarians, vegans and children, ensuring that everyone in our group was well looked after. Just a special add that the Guinness here is exceptional, with some avid fans of the black stuff in our group pleasantly impressed! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the service was impeccable. We truly couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate such a special occasion. Highly recommend The Roundbush to anyone looking for great food, excellent service, and a lovely venue. Thanks again Shannon, Tony and Erika.

I have been going to the Roundbush for years for food and drinks and have always loved it! So when it came to a venue for my 40th Birthday I didn't want to hold it any where else! Shannon was amazing from start to finish helping me organise everything. They decorated the pub for me which looked fantastic, created dance floor for a dj and dancing and the buffet was awesome and just what everyone needed. I can not recommend enough The Roundbush be it for food, a quiet drink or a party!! Thank you Shannon for an amazing night- one that I will never forget!

This place never lets us down on their food, the Chef is very good. Last night 34 of us, had our 2nd pre Christmas meal (The Croxley Rebels) the food was delicious and service very attentive. Highly recommend The Round Bush.

Club Xmas meal, 40 of us, so a bit of a challenge, service was a great, the food was excellent and the staff are great. Will definitely be back.

We enjoyed lunch with friends here on a busy Saturday. We'd booked a table in advance, which was a good idea because the pub filled up quickly. Service was friendly and our meals arrived in good time. I ordered the steak pie and chips and can say that it was the best I've had in a while - tender meat and rich gravy. We would definitely return - there are some good walks in the area too

Lovely pub, popular place with locals, the staff are nice but It was slightly under staffed as they were running non stop and could barely cope. Decent Sunday Roast but The kids fish fingers had the appearance of cheap cafeteria food, honestly underwhelming and my son regretted the choice. Would return for the roast but perhaps they should make the kids choice more appealing.

This little gem is well worth a visit, the garden is very welcoming for sun lovers. It has a good selection of drinks, be it wine bottled or draught beers. The menu is nice with just the right amount of choices. And the Sunday menu caters for the most discerning palate.

The perfect local. Doesn't pretend to be something it isn't. Forget the nonsense about the hygiene rating. That was before the present owners and many many years ago. Google keep on putting up the review even though they have been told otherwise! I eat here often and have for years and never had a problem. Great atmosphere. Still the best local.

Went for a meal 6 people it was a lovely pub family run dogs where welcome kids welcome lovely afternoon

It’s a solid pub, with friendly easy-going staff. I was there on a Monday night, so it was quiet. But the place had a nice feel. The food was standard pub food, but was of very good quality. I had the beef chilli and it was excellent. The Guinness was good as well. But the highlight were the staff. I was obviously not a regular, but they were friendly and attentive. Service was quick and efficient. I wish there were more places like this.

Family run friendly pub very professional variety of wines and arrows and beers very good service and very reasonable prices. Food was HOME cooked none of that microwave rubbish thanks RoundBrush had a great day on Sunday with my family. Will definitely be back there again soon the roast beef was succulent.💕

Mynchorus come here on Thursday nights after rehearsal to socialise. Being singers, we vocalise a song or two, and the staff don't seem to mind too much. Good times.

The food was absolutely amazing! Service and atmosphere were also fantastic! Waitress gave us some awesome suggestions on things to do in the area. Great traditional pub to start your English holiday!

We popped in for a quick drink. It was very busy inside so we sat outside. The landlord introduced himself to us and was very friendly. I'll definitely go back when the weather's better. It's also dog friendly which for me is a bonus

Evening meal with family of 12. Parking is good. About 15 car park spaces. The service was good and the table was nice situated and nicely laid out. The food was good and service up quite fast. Food was fresh and portion is reasonable size. I’m surprised this pub is not as busy it should be as the quality of food was good.

Came here for a roast dinner and selected the lamb. Food was pleasant Had the crispy prawns for starter and they were very nice.

A nice friendly pub. Great food. A few really noisy kids took the edge off the meal as we couldn’t hear each other - I’m all for family pubs, but screaming and fighting not fun for other guests. Lovely after they’d left.

Amazing experience from start to finish. Shannon is the hostess with the mostess! . Sorted out our party of 24 like an absolute pro and all with a smile on her face. The food was excellent, very generous portions and everything cooked to perfection. They reserved us a good separate section of the pub and the accompanying playpark for the kids in the party just meant the whole thing worked so slickly. The bar side seemed really welcoming and clearly loved by some friendly locals. Would come back in a heart beat and thank you for making a special birthday occasion such a lovely memory. We are looking forward to coming back already.

Lovely pub and good atmosphere, the staff were nice and attentive. Unfortunately the food is waayyy overpriced! Haddock was overcooked and dry and friends said their burgers came out burnt and oily. I won't be back for food!

I had haddock and chips, the fish was fresh and flaky, would have preferred chunky chips, but the fries were good.

Always lovely food and the staff really make sure we have a nice time. One small complaint...the coffee always tastes bitter and burnt. Tried 3 or 4 times.

Great pub for Sunday roast. The food was excellent and plentiful. The staff super helpful and friendly and nice open log fire to warm you up.

Went with a large group of walkers - the numbers changed a couple of times beforehand but this was not a problem as the staff were very amenable to amend the numbers even at late notice. The staff were very attentive, friendly and willing to meet our needs and took and delivered orders efficiently. The food was good and tasty. We were made to feel very much at home, so much so that our relaxed stay was longer than I can remember at any other pub. Well done Roundbush staff!

The Round Bush was fantastic today on all counts. Only had a light lunch but it arrived quickly, was hot and tasty, and the staff were exceedingly pleasant.

Very friendly pub, I did not have food but was told by many people how nice it is. I visited this pub as my mum used to work behind the bar 40 years ago! It has not changed at all still a great local old country pub with open fire.

This place is a little gemstone. The service is great, the food is amazing, and it just feels very homely and welcoming. I would definitely recommend giving this lovely country pub a go but would suggest booking as it gets very, very busy. The Sunday lunch was out of this world delicious, you should give it a go.. Enjoy!

I am amazed that I found this gem of an amazing pub, in the middle of nowhere having walked through the fields via Battlers Green Farm on my way to Aldenham and "chanced" along here. If YOU want a happy,friendly,professionally run pub STILL giving YOU the feeling of "doing THEM a favour for just turning up" then THIS is most definitely THE pub for YOU! It's one of those very RARE experiences that YOU would wish that you could just pick it up and take it to wherever you live! Apart from this.....it's OK! 😉😊( he says sarcastically) I just love this pub and you will too! Nigel Coyne

Was here on a Saturday evening. How lovely to finally find a pub that IS traditional - lovely staff, great food, welcoming with a warm atmosphere and ambience. Nothing pretentious, just a cosy charming local pub with a really friendly vibe. In a world of 'chain' pubs it's so refreshing to have a good meal and cold pint in a local place that's doing it all right! Exactly what you'd want a 'local' pub to be, and you feel it as soon as you walk in the door!

A great welcoming local pub with fantastic food and lovely vibe. We were a party of 5 and went primarily for a few drinks, but thought we'd try a few starters. We were so glad we did - Everything was delicious, and even the salad was lovely. Not just something pulled out of a bag and thrown next to the food, but lovely in of itself. The coated crispy prawns were perfect and crisp yet not 'greasy' at all. The pate was lovely with the onion chutney - Literally all the individual elements added to the overall meal and were tasty all by themselves. Leek and Stilton soup - Perfect. It was all so nice we ordered mains a good while later too. All of them arrived piping hot and were so delicious. We were not rushed, but instead allowed to simply relax and chat and then order from the lovely staff when we were ready. There was a good crowd of 'regulars' but unlike other local bars there was no feeling of it being a closed clique - We felt just like any other regular as soon as we walked in. We met one of the owners (Shannon?) who introduced herself and made sure we were having a lovely evening - Which we were! All in all, it was everything you'd hope a local pub would be if it was doing everything right, which the team here clearly are. Thank you for a wonderful evening, and now we've found you we will certainly be back!

I hadn't been here for some time. My brother was visiting from Australia and wanted to go somewhere local, a bit of "memory lane". The food and drink were good but the service was absolutely fantastic. The staff were really friendly and helpful. We couldn't have wanted more.

Some things never change. The Round Bush .. straightforward friendly welcoming unpretentious local pub.. I've have been an occasional visitor since the 1980's. It never disappoints..enjoy.

Only criticism, the food could have been hotter. Service poor but pub was very busy.

Nice country pub just outside watford

Upon entering was warm/friendly, Olives starter absolutely fab, followed by chops medium rare for my fella, n chicken breast in white wine sauce for me, :) very ...... nice!!!!!

What a wonderful experience. A first time visit with family from Ecuador so they can live the pub experience. It was the best countryside pub visit. The food was amazing and the 2 ladies were very friendly, accomodating and always with a smile. I will definitely come back and promote this venue.

The worst Sunday lunch Eaten in many a year

Great pub, friendly landlord. Lovely place to go when walking the dog. Haven’t used for food but will return as what I saw looked great.

We booked to celebrate my father-in-law’s 97th birthday. Staff were excellent, professional and caring, the pub was full but we were not rushed and management took time to engage with us - would recommend.

This old friend is growing very shabby and the toilets are pokey and dirty. The food was pretty average .

As it was a Sunday, we had the raist lamb and the roast chicken. (There are other dishes available on a Sunday) Both were cooked very well and were lovely. Plenty of veg, roast potatoes, and gravy. Very good value for money and reasonably priced. Nice, friendly staff. Well worth a visit.

I happened upon this pub after attending a stone setting at nearby Old Bushey Jewish Cemetery. What a delightful place. During the busy period on a Sunday afternoon the staff found our party of 5 a table without any fuss where we were treated to a lovely Sunday roast served by absolutely charming girls. Such a lovely pub, I highly recommend it and will be back if we are ever in the Radlett area again.

Nice enough place. Burger I ordered had been cremated but other than that food was ok. Would I return......yes. Maybe the kitchen staff had a bad day.

Fantastic roast beef Sunday dinner, vegetables were cooked just right, the sirloin beef was divine, the portions were large and just right.Was a bit worried when dinner came out with steak knives on the plate but the meat was so tender could have used butter knives. Service quick efficient and plenty of smiles.
