Cafe Toulous in Hertsmere

Sorry to see there is not enought competition on the high street. Otherwise they would feel a bit of pressure to do better. Surprized to see it is busy although nor their coffee or breakfast is worth the money you pay for. Like everyone else if there is another choice I would go to that one.

Fantastic place for a lunch or breakfast. Great food and service excellent.

First and last time. Only went in for a cup of tea and a hot chocolate but will not be returning. The miserable small blond lady made the experience oh so lovely. Not sure if she’s the owner but she doesn’t crack a smile and is simply rude. The man behind the counter is much better. To top it off the hot chocolate and cup of tea wasn’t even nice.

Prompted to write a review today purely based on the utterly miserable service I received on my first visit. Popped in for a quick lunch and although seated quickly, I can't say the reception was warm. Having waited a good 10 minutes to order, I thought we might have to go to the till so began to stand to walk over and was immediately glared at by the woman who had seated us (short blonde lady). We eventually ordered and the food, although pricey for what it is, was very pleasant and came out quickly but each time this staff member encountered us, I felt like we were imposing on her. At one point I got up to request additional condiments, was stood under a meter from her and she didn't even look up - I'd have been happy for her to finish what she was doing but to not receive even an acknowledgement really irritated me. It was in the end, another passing member of staff who approached offering help and got me what I needed. During our visit, a couple of the other waitresses (both younger with dark hair) attended to us and were extremely pleasant - a credit to the business. At the end of the meal, I went to pay and was galled to notice a service charge had been added to my bill. Service is a gratuity (i.e. to be decided by the customer based on service) and should never be assumed - this presumptuous greed always puts me off of an establishment. Due to this, and the brusqueness of the blonde waitress (who rather concerningly seemed to be the manager!) I requested the service be removed. Overall nice ambience, decent food and mostly nice staff was ruined for me by the poor attitude of one team member. With plenty of similar establishments in Bushey and Stanmore, I won't be rushing back - I'd rather spend my money somewhere I feel welcome.

Nice food in busy place, a little pricey

Amazing food and brilliant service!

After a 2 hour walk across harrow through Bentley Priory nature reserve, we popped into Toulous for coffeeand food. The business was busy, nicely bustling, friendly staff, good decor. We orderrd a smoked salmon club sandwich and a chicken salad with fresh orange juice. The portions were huge, fantastically presented and amazingly tasty. I would thoroughly recommend anyone stops here

I love this place. There are only two cafés in Bushey Heath that I have tried, and this is one of them. I have been over half a dozen times just to drink coffee. I came here first because of the name. It reminds me of the arondissement of the train station in Toulouse, ... the coffee is excellent though I doubt the variety of middle-eastern and Arabic coffees you could probably and certainly could get, back in 2003 when I last went through there by train.

Very busy at lunch time. The food is very tasty and plenty served on ones plate.

Very disappointed in the food! I ordered a salt beef sandwich to takeaway that was described to include gherkins, mustard and elemental cheese. Upon opening my takeaway box I discovered a very slap dash sandwich with thick cut salt beef and half a teaspoon of mustard. The salad and gherkins had been thrown lazily on the side alongside 3 pieces of stale crisps. For an astonishing £12.75 I would expect way better

Overpriced and small plates of food and an over zealous owner with no manners. Explained to the owner / lady manager that the salt beef platter had less beef than the salt beef sandwich i had the week before. She was quick to quip that it was the same and in the same breath and in a backhanded way offered some more to make up for it, but this was empty as she never returned with any more. Quick to add service on to the extortionate bill , when there is hardly any to deserve it! Everyone has jumped on the bandwagon of increading prices as a cost of living, but in doing so have also started adding service, although optional it is not clever adding this onto the bill. We know if we want to tip or not! I wont be returning here and i will refuse to go when freinds suggest it.

Nice for a quick lunch been coming here years though recently as with most of the world prices have increased the only issue with this is the size of the meals served have reduced as well. So actually left still hungry. Ordered a salt beef platter, came on a platter plate but the volume of food certainly underwhelming

Dreadful experience. Everything really poor. Service very grumpy lady - made to feel extremely unwelcome. Food tasteless and really poor quality - poorly prepared and dry Food left a really nasty taste. Will never gp back. P.S - I have never ever given a bad review previously. Felt obliged to say this today.

Been here many times (also when it was Deli on the Heath). The food is good and ample. However the service is poor and the staff (incl. the Manager) NEVER SMILE, and don't seem to make you welcome.

I have already reviewed cafe Toulous via Google but after reading another recent review on here that mirrored my experience I feel it necessary to leave it here aswell. My partner and I went last week and were made to feel unwelcome from the moment we arrived. A member of staff gave us a menu after initially ignoring us at the door. After that we were left sitting at the table with no service, they didn't even ask for our drink order. After ten minutes of sitting trying to get their attention, another customer walked in and sat near to us and he was greeted immediately and had his order taken! We found this extremely rude and ended up walking out. We clearly didnt fit in! We have been here previously but will certainly not waste our time or money going back again.

They offer a lovely breakfast menu and a wide variety of choice. Me and my partner enjoy coming here for a late breakfast/brunch. Recommended. Outdoor seats available for the summer days.

I went to Cafe Tolous with my family, and they sat us down, then just completely ignored us… and then waited for about 10 minutes to order. None of the staff came to take our order, so we got up, left and went somewhere else. It looks such a nice cafe, just a shame about the way they treat customers!

This is only the 3nd unfavourable review I've posted on Tripadvisor, We ordered 3 salt beef sandwiches & 2 portions of chips to be delivered. The delivery was received in about 25 minutes. On opening we discovered that there was only 1 sat beef sandwich in the pack. Toulous was phoned immediately & a lady admitted the mistake & said the balance of the order would be delivered in about 30 mins. Fair enough-mistakes are made but as long as they're rectified all would be well. We waited & waited & when no delivery was received after 45 mins Toulous was phoned again. We were told that no delivery could be made- something to do with Uber delivery procedures. So we were left with 1 salt beef sandwich & 2 portions of chips between 3 people. Had we not phoned to find out what happened to the re delivery we'd still be waiting as Toulous didn't go to the trouble of letting us know what happened. The only redeeming factor was that the total bill was refunded immediately . It's not for me to tell anyone how to run their business, but the solution would have been to redo the order, get a minicab to deliver it to us being local at Toulous own expense. If that had been the case this review would have been totally different with a 5 star rating,. Toulous MUST NOT blame Uber. It was YOU who didn't send the correct order & it's YOUR choice how the food is delivered. I know you're very busy & you probably don't care about losing someone who was a 1st time customer but I suggest you take notice of the more recent reviews. There's plenty of competition in the area so it's going to be an alternative choice for us next time.

Bustling kosher milk cafe/restaurant. Friendly service, super-fresh elegant tasty food and great coffee.

Service is very snobby for no reason, and not very professional. The salads are nice, but there was a black hair in my plate. Chips were absolutely flavourless (like the side salads), no salt whatsoever. Bagels are nothing to write home about. I don't quite understand the Central London prices and attitude.

Best breakfast ever with generous portions. Great quality sausages and not the cheap shiny ones. Freshly prepared and great value for the portion size 👍

We'll see what the rest of the lunch is like but so far really not impressed by 'welcome. Left waiting at entrance ignored by 3 staff (single woman). Not even ' be with you shortly'. I approached staff instead. No apology. Brusque and actually quite rude. Not ordered yet. Will update as I go...

Cheese toasty made with standard ingredients small and over £7 they put some free crisps on plate so it looks like £7 Salad no good overloaded with salad cream in the mix ..made stomach nautious feeling. How to improve .salad cream on side not in salad. Don't charge so much for cheese toasty and please no cheap crisps on plate ..a futile attempt to make plate look bigger

Friendly cafe atmosphere with good menu and service

A fine cafe for breakfast with a wife range of healthy and more filling choices. The packed egg and avocado on toast is highly recommended as is the full breakfast. Their coffee is above average and they serve fresh squeezed orange juice which is always refreshing. The price is higher than your average cafe but then the food is better too.

Toulous is very local to me, so much so that I tend to drop in on most days of the week. Occasionally I might have the excellent scrambled eggs and smoked salmon but invariably I'm there mostly for the coffee and the chat, be it with staff or customers. The team that Matt and Sharon (M&S) have assembled, and continue to with inevitable staff turnover is very good. M&S have obviously instilled into all their staff that their performance reflects on Toulous. I always feel very welcome there, as does George our Jack Russell! Extra touches from the staff are standouts in the way that one feels that they are investing themselves in their customers. Customers with a keen eye may even spot nail varnish in places not expected, but only on Mondays! We're very lucky to have such a place that is the village focal point. Bravo to all at Toulous.

Visited a few days ago with friends for a late lunch and coffee. Both were delicious and my compliments to our lovely waitress. Would recommend!

I came across this fantastic cafe on the high street in Bushey Heath. At a time when it is becoming more difficult to find quality food and service, this place got it right on all counts. The waitress was efficient and friendly and the food...

First visit to Toulous and it won't be our last. Air conditioned which was very welcome in today's heat, superb food and service. Food and coffee piping hot, always the sign of a great dining experience. Staff very friendly as well...highly recommended.

Amazing food, Quick service & Beautiful coffee... Can't wait to come again :-) Salads are perfect for this weather and ofcourse the Iced Coffees, yum!!

Great food great service simply great

First time we could sit outside this year and enjoy some & what a treat it was. We were served by Dwayne who recommended us dished and accommodated for my dietary needs. Only negative we weren’t allowed to book this Sunday for my grandsons birthday which is a shame as they don’t take bookings but we will definately return

We love this place for breakfast! It’s clean & delicious. We chose the Israeli, poached eggs, avocado, halloumi, smoked salmon, Israeli salad & pita. Absolutely gorgeous. Screens up for safe & private dining. Brilliant service. Usually busy out the front for coffee. Would recommend

Ordered superfood salad, was disappointed that the green beans and broccoli had been fully cooked, therefore nothing really super about them. Probably my fault for not asking but never experienced cooked veg in a superfood salad before.

This café is the most friendly place for morning coffee, lunch and afternoon tea. Before lockdown I would visit nearly every week. At the first opportunity, I went there on 14th July. Even when they are very busy,the staff find time to chat. The food has always been very good. I can't imagine why anyone would give a bad review. I'm very happy to go there.

This busy, buzzy cafe is a delight! They have a large menu selection, the food was delicious and the staff friendly and attentive.

Ben and Ollies in Borehamwood,Shenley tearooms, ,Battlers Green farm, All cater for a similar clientele have similar menus but none of the attitude of the staff, if you enjoy your eggs without a side order of febbisina punum from your waitress....I would recommend to go to these places rather than Toulouse.

I have been to Cafe Toulouse in Bushey a few times and enjoyed the food. But my most recent visit has meant that I will not be returning. The waitress was unnecessary rude to me when I tried to order my food, telling me that she had so many tables to attend to before me and gesturing to her head as if saying “are you crazy”, leaving me feeling embarrassed and unwelcome. I understand that the cafe can be busy, but it’s not acceptable for staff to take this out on customers. I decided to walk out after being spoken to so rudely.

I had a couple of meetings earlier this week and Toulouse was chosen as the venue where we could start early with just coffee and a few hours later go on to have a nice light lunch. My tuna wrap was stuffed full and was delicious and the staff were fantastic. It was so good I returned a few days later.

We have chosen this place for breakfast and coffee, and it was a very inspired idea.The food is very very good and fresh, the waiting it doesn’t take long and the staff is very friendly.Totally recomending this and we plan on going back there soon.

Food was OK. But really expensive, seriously, really overpriced for the type of food and small portions.

Toulous is a nice place. Good tasting food, but the price was a little high and the portion sizes a little low. The menu is an odd, eclectic mix of things. I'm sure anyone could find something they like on the menu here, though. The decor seemed slightly confused, being no particular style, and a mix of luxurious and cheap furnishings. Overall, a good time.

We went to this lovely little cafe based on a recommendation, and was so delighted! I ordered the Asian salad and it was Devine! The ingredients so fresh, and the salmon was cooked so perfectly I licked the plate clean! Went back the next day, ordered the superfood salad, I wanted to substitute some ingredients and the manager was very happy to give me what ever I wanted. My new favourite place in Bushey!

Good scrambled eggs on toast and coffee

Went on Sunday for a late breakfast and was told that they are not serving breakfast (was around 12pm). Very disappointed as was sat down with menus at hand ready to eat and pay! It's all about the profits rather than the customers! Not going back.

We had a good time in Toulouse. The prices are very fair and the food quality is very good.Portions sizes are big. Friends had a salt beef sandwich with crisps and salad. I had a houmous wrap... Took half home as it was big.We will be back soon because in a city like London and the outskirt, food has gone through the roof! Most restaurants are poor on value now.. This was good value...

Particularly poor service. The male bald waiter has no manors and shouldn't running or working in any kind of company, period. 1 star is an exaggeration for the experience we had.Again food was totally average, in fact below average. Don't waste your time here if you are looking to enjoy yourself. The decor draws your in and then they might as well throw your food on the table when it is served without a plate.

The waiter was rude after we found a long black hair in a particularly average salad. Avoid.

My husband and I had breakfast yesterday - after a lot of indecision cod of such great choices - I went for porridge which came with honey and Greek yoghurt - huge portion and absolute the right consistency- D - licious. My husband chose smashed avocado and poached eggs on sourdough toast - he said the eggs were perfect and a great vibrant colour yolk. The staff were lovely too.

Lovely food, ridiculous portions, never usually moan about there not being enough food, always end up asking for a doggy bag, which most of the time the dog gets some leftovers anyway. A bit expensive, sometimes we get served by the chef who is very polite,sometimes one of the waitresses is rude!.Very interesting menu, with some unique salads. The only negative things that I will say is that it is too noisy inside, and sitting outside the glare from the tables is too strong and becomes too hot in the summer to even touch.
