Was on holiday in Pickering, I went in for a drink with my son in law. We got 2 pints of Theakston's best bitter and went to a table, when the drinks had settled, I tasted mine it did not taste like Theakston's best bitter and the colour of the beer was too dark. I asked my son in law to taste his and he agreed. I took it back to the bar and told the lady behind the bar it was not what it said on the pump clip, I received a serious tongue wagging from the lady, saying other people were drinking it and had not companied. I was not complaining that the beer was off simply that it was not as described, (for the record I have been drinking Theakston's bitter for over 50 years mostly in the pubs around Masham, so I have a very good idea what it looks and tastes like). Needless to say we drunk up and left and went to another pub in Pickering, which does know about beer.

Lovely clean pub, nice atmosphere, staff welcoming and friendly. Well behaved dogs allowed (on lead) dog bowls available on request if not seen. Always nice and warm inside, covered ouside area next to a newly cleared Pickering beck. Hand pulled beers, ciders, wines. Guinness, many different Gins and soft drinks. Reasonable prices, would reccommend. Books are available to read at the pub. along with many games for children and adults alike to play. Seating with beckside views available inside and out.

Popped in for a drink, clean, nice pub with lovely outdoor area. They were taking down the Christmas tree so felt a bit early / unwelcoming. Would visit again some time.

Found this pub on Friday night and visited again Saturday evening as they had a live band on. Brilliant atmosphere and enjoyed chatting with the friendly landlady We thoroughly enjoyed our visits and found the drinks to be fairly priced bearing in mind you are in a holiday 'town' We will visit again when back in the area. Loved your 3 pugs too 🐶🐾

Cold and unpleasant bar maid. Hand written sign on the bar saying that you can’t pay with Scottish Notes….how insulting as we are visiting from Scotland….imagine visiting Edinburgh and being told you can’t pay with English Notes…both are legal tender in the UK. We have visited many places in Yorkshire for a number of years and have never encountered this before. Very disappointing attitude.

I have visited The Rose Inn on many occasions. It has been fully re furbished quite recently, is very clean, tidy and overlooks Pickering beck which is amazingly full of wildlife. The staff ,(I find) are very friendly and welcoming to all, locals and visitors alike. It has a large beer garden , some 8 large tables outside and many more under the covered area and also even more at the top end. The landlady runs a 'tight ship'. Well behaved dogs on leads allowed. All under 18's to be out by 9pm, no music to be played in the beer garden from 'gadgets' etc. Live bands, Kareoke, all advertised inside. The best beer and beer garden in Pickering, especially in the sunshine. Would highly recommend to all. No food is served on the premesis but you are allowed to bring and eat your own providing a drink is bought from the bar.

Situated on the banks of the river, the Rose Inn is a lovely place to have a quiet evening drink. It's dog friendly so no need to leave the pooch in your lodgings. Olde worlde interior and covered area at the back overlooking the river. No food served unfortunately. Bar staff seemed preoccupied but pleasant enough

Visited pub several times but never found it overly welcoming. However on this occasion we found the Landlord to be rude and aggressive in his manor in the way he spoke to us. On a previous visit he swore and shouted at a customer in the beer garden because his puppy barked. The Ladies toilets are a disgrace. Consequently we won’t be going back to this pub.

Other correspondents are correct. Avoid this place unless you are local on ‘the staff privilages tab’. Check what the verbal charge is against that tapped into the card machine and keep a receipt. I was asked if I was local and when I said ‘yes when I am in town’ the manager was sent for.

extortionate prices, one price for locals, tourists get charged more. Amstell larger £5.00 per pint Nice pub just very, very, expensive. tried to read price list for drinks, it's hidden away around the corner of the bar, can't get to have a look.

2:30pm on a Tuesday, I ordered my favourite, half chicken with chips meal, lady at cash desk went to kitchen to check and came back with the bad news, they were out of stock. Out of stock! It's a large supermarket with hundreds of fresh chickens for sale, it even sells hot roast chickens freshly roasted, couldn't they get one of them. Come on Morrisons get your act together. On a plus note the cafe looked clean and tidy and the toilet was ok.

Very disappointing - this is my second visit in a few months and on both occasions I have been served by staff who looked like they would rather be anywhere else! They weren’t rude but it wasn’t exactly a friendly welcome. In their defence I did notice that the member of staff on the till was in her own and the chef himself was bringing the food out so maybe they were understaffed and two people was certainly not enough to run the cafe which was full. The coffee as usual was lovely.

We had a really good experience here yesterday. Spent the day at Flamingo Land and chose this place for food as wanted something more substantial than burgers/hot dogs etc. Good beer and a lot of alcohol choices to have with the meal. I also thought that the drinks were good value for money for a theme park. We ordered: Mozzarella sticks Loaded fries (the chilli and cheese ones) Chilli Tacos Beef birria sandwich Kids burger and chips The portion sizes were great and the food was really tasty. Also good value for money. Loses a star as we had to ask for cutlery and then search for some ketchup. But overall, I would definitely eat here again on another visit to Flamingo land. Finn, the guy who served us was also very friendly.

Anticipated, me and my friend entered the diner with high hopes. However, upon entering the “restaurant” we were directed towards a dingy, dirty side table which was coupled with flies and layers of dust?! Nevertheless we were starving, prepared to order our meal, well we were … ATROCIOUS, £12 and a whopping £13 for our burger meals. Hesitant, we continued and yet the process was difficult and quite rude as no one came to collect our order and we were forced to get up ourselves? After a reasonable wait, we received our “meals”. DEVASTATED, we looked upon our radioactive meals, comparable to the measly rustlers burgers one microwaves. Stale, cold, bland and simply vile, me and my friend stared in horror, nauseated as we attempted to digest this monstrosity. We entered hungry and left famished, sick, disappointed and on the verge of tears. DO NOT ENTER THIS FACILITY AT ALL COSTS IM WARNING YOU!!!
