The Rose Garden in Rochford

A busy restaurant for the carvery lunch today with two large parties in. We enjoyed our lunch - Broccoli and Stilton soup and the carvery for me and prawn cocktail and the carvery for my civil partner. Service was excellent as the restaurant had extra staff on duty.

My roast dinner was on another level, delicious. Super nice staff and atmosphere.

Food is excellent and the staff are really lovely! Highly recommend - if you like good food cooked from scratch; excellent chef!

Visited with my wife and daughter to have a late dinner. We went for 3 courses, and each was very appetizing. Also enjoyed the atmosphere in the restaurant as well as the friendly hostess and chef. If you're in the neighbourhood... make sure to visit, its worth it.

You have to try this restaurant. Great place, staff are really friendly and helpful, carvery on a Sunday is lovely, cannot wait to go back again. Very reasonably priced.

Excellent menu.Really good food reasonably priced. Excellent table service. What's more there is always room on Saturday for lunch. If I could give 6 stars, I would. Well done to the chefs and staff.

Went for curry night. I had salmon curry which was very spicy and tasty, but the other two on offer which were a chicken and lamb just looked a bit short on meat to sauce ratio. The rice had dried out under the heat lamp as had the Bombay aloo. The starter plate was lovely and the service is always good. No atmosphere, perhaps a bit of background music would be helpful. I also thought that it was quite expensive but I suppose it would be worth it if I had eaten more.

A group of us went for the Sunday carvery. Absolutely fabulous. Great selection of meat and vegetables. All piping hot. Service was great. Can’t comment on atmosphere as the atmosphere generally was quite quiet. However on our table it was sparkling as we were all laughing and chatting,

Superb. Took my Mum here for her 72nd Birthday and food was excellent. Waitresses were really attentive and helpful. Food was excellent, fresh and extremely tasty!! I would recommend eating here! 👍

Absolutely the best roast dinner I have ever had. The Rose garden was recommended to me and I can understand why. Amazing food, relaxed atmosphere and friendly happy staff. It's a must if you enjoy good quality food!

The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Waitress was very friendly and helpful. The only downside being a wheelchair user, there wasn't a disabled toilet.

I had Sunday Carvery with a group of friends. One friend in particular has mobility problems and at the Carvery counter the waitress carried her plate, helped her select her food and saw her safely seated back at the table. A lovely young lady. Excellent service and excellent food. Will definitely go again.

Don't be put off by the location which is very much out of the way. Big open plan seating area, well spaced out. Simply superb food, easily the best I've had including expensive London eateries. Service is not hurried, but still attentive. Very reasonably priced, at around £100 for four with a three course meal and a couple of drinks each. Highly recommended.

What a complete shambles! Table wasn't ready upon our arrival and had to wait 20 mins. The service was appalling, no visible presence by waiting staff. Constantly looking for someone to make a drinks order or ask for a menu. Nobody checked to enquire weather we were happy with our food. The starters and desert were good and portion sizes were generous. The meat from the carvery was delicious however apart from the cauliflower cheese the vegetables were poor. Roast potatoes burnt and soft. Parsnip hard and oily. Broccoli tired and limp. Batton carrots and mangetout dry. Plenty of flavor in the gravy. Had heard many good things about this restaurant, however we were very disappointed. The gents toilets were filthy, looked as if they hadn't been cleaned for weeks!

Great food at a reasonable price!

The service and the food was first class. We held out golden wedding anniversary there and the staff couldn't have done more for us.

We just had our Valentine's Day dinner there and everything was absolutely perfect . The food was served hot and fresh and substantial portion full of flavour cooked from scratch . From the moment we entered this restaurant we felt welcome. The food was amazing which pleased me as my darling Brother had driven over from Kent to treat us to a meal. We were not disappointed, definitely, in our opinion, the best restaurant for miles.

Came for first time in this restaurant and everything was amazing. The service was excellent and the meals was delicious. Started ,main, dessert ,even the coffee was absolutely amazing. We will definitely be back. I recomment it 100%.

Great Sunday lunch today at 'The Rose Garden'. Relaxed dinning, faultless service with good portions carved by the Chef. All of my party impressed! Beats the other Hockley venue hands down. Recommend you try it.

This is the second time i have had the carvery the meat was lovely but the potatoes were very seasoned and salty and leave an after taste in your mouth which is a shame . If the roast potaoes were just normal it would be 5 stars. I seen from previous reviews im not only 1

We visited the Rose Garden a couple of weeks ago after seeing so many great reviews. Honestly, I don't know how they got these reviews, but really wish we had a similar experience. On entry, we were greated by the chef, nice and happy. The waitress was friendly but incredibly slow, especially as we were one of two tables in for lunch. We asked for a highchair for my 10 month old, it came and was visibly filthy with dried on food on the top. When ordering (sausage and mash), I had asked for my vegetables to be placed on the side and to not be seasoned as I would share with my child. I even heard the waitress shout this to the chef when leaving the kitchen. The food arrived so heavily seasoned that I struggled to eat it, my husbands food was also heavily seasoned with salt that it was barely edible. We had to ask for the toilet lights to be put on as they were switched off from the fuse board, and while there was a baby changing table, it looked handmade and didn't have any safety straps or a sanitary bin for the nappy (I'm totally fine with taking it home, but just noting for others). I genuinely wanted to give this place a good review and wonder whether our experience would have been different if we didn't have our child with us. I wouldn't recommend for people with young children, and unfortunately am unlikely to go back.

We came to The Rose Garden to kick start my husband's 70th birthday celebrations. It was a complete surprise to him to see family and friends from far and local waiting for him when we arrived. The staff had been brilliant in helping me to plan this event and they carried it out in a professional way which couldn't be faulted. The food was the usual top quality and in fact even now after 3 weeks people are talking about it - particularly the Beef Wellington! Chef - you are amazing!. Andrew, my hubster, loved the whole evening surprise - we all did. We love coming here and it is always our 'go to' for a special meal. Would 100% recommend.

Great food and just as good for takeaway

We ordered from Rose Garden as a takeaway to Celebrate what was supposed to be our wedding day. We wanted something a bit more than just a normal takeaway and I've got to say Rose Garden knocked it out of the park! I had the Duck Paté to start, Venison as a main and my fiancée had King Prawns with Chicken Wellington. It was absolutely spot on! So tasty and so well cooked. The customer service was the best I've received of a takeaway, the cost was more than reasonable and it was delivered at exactly the time as promised. Do not hesitate to order from or visit Rose Garden. And thank you for making our "Would be Wedding Day" perfect.

Food was fabulous but the service was mega slow.

Nice choice on the menu. Food was served piping hot and lots of it; portions never leave you wanting more! Service was cheerful and attentive but without making you feel rushed. Often ate at The Rose Garden in Leigh on Sea and it's just as good still.

The last time we went to the Rose Garden was when it was in Southend . It is just as good. Staff just as friendly and the chef excellent and always has time to say hello. Will be going back again. Would recommend

The food here is fantastic and good value for money. The service is polite and unhurried bordering on a little slow. But it is worth the wait. Tables are well spaced and the decor is clean and modern.

Should be 5 stars for the excellent food and friendly service but over 2.5 hours for 2 courses was ridiculous.

Price rise from 7.95,to 9.95 yet they only gave us a menu last month,burger soggy and squashed,all I got was it's on there website,what's the point of a menu less than a month old,and then a 25% hike in less than a month,won't buy again

From start to finish The Rose Garden were fantastic! I had a huge family booking with lots of children and they dealt with the capacity and demands for this so well. The dull exterior is the opposite of the luxurious interior. Food is brilliant, especially the salad, rarely see it with more than one customer in though, and is quite empty most days. Still good though

Don't ever do carverys because we don't like them but our friends took us out for Sunday lunch. Should have known not to go. Staff were very good the place was clean and set out well. The food was how can I put this , very salty, fatty meats, and a unusual taste the the roast potatoes which I can only put down to old fat used to cook them in. Cauliflower cheese, well I just can't describe it apart from don't eat it. What is happening to this country does'nt anyone train to be a chef anymore. I would never go there again even if the food was free.
