Lovely place for a meal or just a drink

Under new management! Went to the open day... friendly staff, lovely decor, nice garden & there were free samples of food to try. Based on the arancici alone I need to go back once the food is fully up & running 😁 Menu has loads of veggie options (landlady is a veggie) so can't wait to eat my way through everything!

Hosted a birthday lunch here couldn't be more helpful and accommodating as always. Food was all lovely, excellent service from the friendly staff. Always clean and tidy including the toilets. Can't thank them enough we all (11 of us) had a lovely time until the next time.

Absolutely fantastic, local pub without all the fuss. Was made to feel very special here, food was great pub grub. Landlord is very friendly and interacts with all guests. The pub itself is tucked away but is worth the hunt!

Nice little traditional pub. We had pizza and it was really nice.

Myself and my wife called in during the heavy rain for a quick drink. We were very pleasantly surprised how much this pub had changed since our last visit 4 years ago. Firstly, greeted with a nice smile from the young lady behind the bar, then the very cosy atmosphere. The landlord and landlady were very nice and made us feel very welcome. It just felt like a nice friendly place to go, which we will certainly do a lot more often from now on. P.s, we enjoyed it so much we stayed for 4. 😊

My sister and I took mum here for a meal for her birthday the staff were amazing they couldn’t do enough for us the food was lovely my sister had pizza i tried some the best pizza around I would absolutely recommend to anyone who wants a good meal in a lovely setting and Syd the dog is a superstar

Good real ales and great value good old bar food. Dog friendly as well. It's our half way meeting place with the in-laws. Next time I might even take advantage of the darts board! Staff are very friendly I would recommend

Lovely welcome in this old pub. Tastefully decorated. Good choice of food on the menu, but only tried lunch of panini & sandwich, G&T & cider. All excellent. Will be going again

The Rose & Crown is one of Newport's best kept secrets. A country pub in the heart of the town. It usually has 2 or 3 real ales on the go which are always served well. The team are always friendly.

Visited for a drink and two amazing double burgers! A really lovely pub with friendly staff. It has a great outside area and tables inside to eat. We really enjoyed our visit and felt at home. Dog friendly with lovely historical pictures of the area too.We would definitely recommend.

Took my Nan here for lunch today and it was lovely. Warm cosy pub, lady behind the bar was friendly and we had two paninis from the specials menu which were great- really tasty food. Great value and would highly recommend! Will be back soon!

Fantastic selection of IPA and beers for a small local pub. Food was tasty, well presented, and well priced. I managed 2 pints of IPA and a lunch meal all for £11. I will be going back again and again and again and again :-D

Old fashion Pub friendly staff good bar food very reasonable price

Stopped of along journey to Milton Keynes. Had very reasonably priced meal and drinks. Staff very cordial and helpful. Looked like local ladies dropping in for coffees were regulars. Would recommend.

Service here is always friendly and welcoming. They are very accomodating if you need an area for a bigger group. The food is great value and delicious. We love it here and visit regularly.

We visited the rose and Crown after the circus in Newport pagnel, and as soon as we walked in we was greeted with a smile from the lovely young girl behind the bar. As we sat down we was offered drinks and given some menus. When we ordered we was told it would take about 10 to 15 minutes witch was great, although it wasn't even 10 minutes. When the food arrived, it was amazingly presented and brought out to us by the landlord and landlady who couldn't have been more happy to deliver the food to our tables. For the 4 of us it didn't cost us much at all, and the landlord was great with my son, and even gave him a free fruit shoot. I would really encourage people to go here as the whole atmosphere is just simply amazing.

Great food great service calm atmosphere

Refurbished last year, it's a nice pub to visit for either just a drink or for a meal. The new landlords offer a friendly and great service. The C19 measures put in place have been well thought out, are effective and easy to follow. Lovely casual dining in a relaxed atmosphere.

Nice pub with friendly owners. Clean and well-decorated inside with great photos of local history. We had a quarter pounder burger and a veggie burger, a pint of Eagle IPA and a large glass of Melbec. The wine was really nice and the beer was spot on. The food was well-prepared and came quickly, though the menu is a little limited to sandwiches, burgers, pizza and jacket potatoes. The prices are 100% fair but the quality of food, especially the veggie burger, was basic. For a £6 main meal, you wouldn't complain.

Google you really need to have an option for minus 5 star!! I'm not one to leave reviews but it was that bad I had no option. I'm not a fussy eater either but how can they get a chicken burger and chips so wrong, stale bun topped with dog hairs and some sort of chicken thing slapped inside, it was totally inedible!!! Staff were a joke, I believe they were the owners aswell, so busy looking at their mobile phones they had no time for customers. I didnt even bother showing them all the dog hair on my dinner, I couldn't get there attention. The pint of guiness was OK. My wife's dinner also had dog hairs on. I really would give the place a miss!!!!!!!!! Great to see you replied, it wasn't this evening I visited, I understand you trying to make out i have the wrong place but unfortunately this is just my honest review.

The was great here! The pizzas are very authentic, thin cryst with delicious toppings. Its really well priced too - highly recommend! The bar staff are really friendly - a great addition to the NP pub scene.

Had a refurb. Looks really nice I was there for the church xmas after party. Ali and the jungle were brilliant as always. And local parishioners of the church singing some great Xmas favourites. Great evening entertainment in a warm friendly pub.

Recently refurbished and reopened after being closed for some time Very homely and tastefully decorated to offer a fresh experience with attentive staff. I did not see or participate in food on my visit but there is evidence of an inviting menu and other customers I spoke with spoke highly of the quality of food and portion size. Definitely worth another visit!

Great little pub. Off the high street so not to rowdy. Just been refurbished and now under new management. Great home made cooked food (lunch menu, not a gastro) with regularly changing specials all served up by friendly bar staff. Highly recommended!
