We called in for lunch after visiting a local caravan site which was closed for lunch! and we were not disappointed, the food was great value and good quality, it was a nice sunny day so we ate outside & enjoyed the view. Very friendly traditional pub.

We called in for drinks at the Rose and Crown on 15th June 2022. We had parked there to do a 9½ mile circular walk. I phoned the day before and the landlord was quite happy for us to park there. We loved the Rose and Crown. It was just how pubs should be, unpretentious, friendly and good value. It's in a good location and sitting outside on a nice warm evening, you wouldn't want to be anywhere else. Well recommended!

Bar staff and other customers all friendly. Dog friendly which is always good when out walking. It is a good old fashioned public house, just like they used to be before most became Gastro pubs. We called in Saturday lunchtime and both had a curry of the day, one of which was Chicken and Spinach Balti served with Rice and Poppadum's. It was really tasty and good value, the sort of price you would pay for a take away without the rice and poppadum's. There were three ales on, between us we tried all of them, well kept and again very good value. We will be walking here again.

We called here while on a mountain biking weekend at Llandegla, on the recommendation of Kevin, the owner of the Airbnb we were staying at. Well kept small range of real ales, tasty traditional pub food and friendly staff and customers. Thanks Rod for feeding us when we turned up late on a snowy Sunday.

This lovely gem of a pub was within walking distance (approximately 1 mile) from the caravan park we stay at. The pub lived up to its reviews as we enjoyed some excellent draught beers along with four lovely meals. We had arrived quite a bit earlier than when the kitchen was due to open but Rod very kindly started our meals early and they were delicious and portions very generous. We will definitely be back with more of the family when we are next back in the area. Great atmosphere too.

First things first, if you want a la carte then not the place for you. Want large portions, excellent valued meals that would give weatherspoons a run value for money. Great cask ales, guest ales changing regularly. Add in an amazingly helpful and friendly owner, Rod, and the very welcoming locals, it's a pub that gives you a hug! We keep coming back as we love it so much. Dogs allowed.

Basically a two-room pub, usually with a roaring fire in the hearth. Good range and variety of beers and other beverages on tap. Food is amazing ! Not a huge choice and nearly all main course. but to be honest, it's not many people who could manage a starter or sweet once they've eaten a main meal here. Rod is the owner / landlord. His steaks with all the trimmings included, not as extras, are legendary. Definitely the best in the area ( and believe me, I've tried them all ! ) Definitely a gem and worth the journey to find the Rose and Crown because it's not on a main road. Friendly old-tyme hospitality, excellent quality food and drinks at a very reasonable price. Cannot fault it in any way at all and can confidently recommend it. Been going there for years and never ever been disappointed.

We love this pub. Rod sells a changing selection of well kept real ales. He cooks wonderful home cooked food. Our favourites are either the curry or gammon or steak. Other reviewers have gone in to a lot of excellent detail. So I just want to say keep up the good work Rod we will be back soon.

This is a small country pub with great food and great atmosphere. It might not be the smartest of pubs but the quality of the food and cask ales more than make up for this. All the portions are plentiful even just a chip butty. Every meal eaten here have been great but my favourite is the chilli best I've ever tasted, spicy though not for the faint hearted. Would recommend anytime.

This isn't an elegant pub but a little country pub with just a bar room and a TV room. But it is always friendly and I've never been there without chatting to someone as they seem a very friendly bunch. Rod, the owner, always has different beers on which my husband enjoys and if you fast for 2 days before your visit, you might just manage to eat your meal! The food is simple and a limited menu but basic British staples like steak and kidney pudding with a lovely herby top which is crips on the outside and lovely and spongy in the middle! There's also a very good chicken pesto salad but don't think it's diet food as it's enormous and very tasty with nice crips salad leaves, crispy bacon and other colourful veg. He also does curries, not my favourite meal, but my husband says they're good, and traditional gammon and egg, sausage and mash et and some vegetarian dishes which I can't comment on. All this served with delicious crispy fat chips cooked in fresh fat( not the tainted smelly stuff so many pubs fry chips in) and there's a selection of hot or cold sandwiches, soup etc but no puddings. If you ask for toast with your egg and bacon, you get an inch thick doorstep cut off a whole loaf and piping hot. And if he can and he isn't too rushed off his feet, rod will do specials like cheese on toast etc for a snack. But don't expect fast food! It's all cooked on the premises and he's mainly a one man band though he has help some nights, but if you're hungry and fancy something home made and substantial The Rose and Crown is great. We usually can't manage more than a main course and with a pint and a half of good beer it's about £20 for 2, very reasonable for the quality and quantity. I think food is served every evening except Sunday and Monday and lunches are Friday, Saturday and Sunday . There is a log fire usually in the bar and a log burner in the other room. You can buy local fresh eggs and even swap a paperback. A good deal all round.

Stayed and ate here after escaping from a terrible nearby campsite. The room was cheap for such short notice and was surprisingly posh, although the absence of a wardrobe was a bit annoying. As to the food, it's fine for what it is. There's a fairly limited set menu and the portions aren't massive by Welsh standards, but it was all very well done and the service was quick and efficient. A good budget choice.

Super friendly locals. Myself and my brother (visiting from Australia) spent an excellent evening there. Although we did lose 'the Ashes' on the excellent pool table. Wales 1 Australia 0. But we'll be back to try and level up!

Advertised a gluten free chippy but won't serve gluten free after 7pm, the stuff was rude and couldn't even be bothered to put my food in a bag 😉

We had a Club sandwich and it was excellent. The salad was a lovely selection of fruit/ veg/ leaves. Really impressed and service was great. Great stop for motorbikes with a great car park.

Our server struggled to fill the cones and the venue is slightly down at heel but.. Interesting flavour combinations, very tasty ice cream and worth the treat if £3.85 for a single cone
