monday evening steadily busy, didn't have a long wait to be served or to get meals.brilliant service as always, cheryl&jordan tonight, but staff are always great. Good pints of real ale&peroni

6 of us had a lovely meal here today. We all had set menu and the choice was great. Service was fantastic Jordan and sheryl hope that's spelt right were friendly and welcoming. Portions were plentiful and after 3 courses we were so full. The pub was quite busy but not noisy. For a relaxing ,reasonable lunch would definitely recommend 👌

I had haddock, chips and mushy peas. The fish was nice for frozen fare,but the chips were cheap, frozen products. Most of our party left some. However. The pub was pleasant and the staff were lovely. For the price, you can do much better locally. A poor do to be given frozen fish in Grimsby, where the fish comes from.

We would have to travel a long way to find meals as bad as the ones we had ! My spinach and lentil pie had a bit of flavour but the pastry was soggy, my husband ordered a medium rare steak but he only got the rare part of it ! Other members of the family had a mixture of meals between them and none of them were good. Was really looking forward to a small family gathering but it was a big rip off. Called at the shop on the way home to buy us all a lovely cake and cream for pudding to finish the meal off at mine along with our own wine served with a smile

Myself and my partner visit the Rose and Crown quite often, and every time we are greeted with a warm welcome by all the attentive staff. The bar team know our usual round of drinks and will always have a quick friendly chat with us when we order. We have never had a poor experience with the food, it is usually always delivered in good time, served piping hot, and well presented. An added bonus is that the pub is now dog-friendly and we can take our pooch with us, who also gets a lovely greeting from the staff! The team are all great, but praise has to go in particular to Rob, Alex and Adele. Keep up the good work guys!

Went for a girly catch up. Food was really bad. The fishcake was really hard and not nice at all. I had crispy prawn ciabatta. It was very poor value for money. 3 prawns and a liitle salad on the side . I paid extra for the chips so it was £7.99. Although the 3 prawns were tasty not value for money at all. I went home hungry . We were all very disappointed and will not be going again.

Ordered food weeks in advance but were told half of it wasn't available when we got there. No turkey on the Christmas menu!! Slow service. Disgruntled staff. Never again. I wonder why the Jug and Bottle get so much trade!

Went in for brunch. Affordable and delicious food with a great range and lovely family friendly vibes.

Delicious, wholesome burger with chips and salad garnish. Enjoyed a lovely salted caramel crumble with custard. Food was delicious and atmosphere was great. Very happy with the customer service. Went with my club for 1st year anniversary.

This is the 3rd time in recent weeks we have visited as a family and each time has been excellent lovely food lovely staff and toilets are spotless. We will for sure be back again

I’m writing this on behalf of my son, He visited due to the locality of the place, he ordered mixed grill with steak and peppercorn sauce. Med /rare was how he liked it cooked , but it came out still alive. I don’t know what’s happening with this place, but when I’ve ordered steak in the past it’s either not cooked correctly or tough. Plus it’s a bit hard to re cook when sauce is on the steak. R&C need to get there food in order , otherwise locals won’t come back. It’s a good pub but food is letting them down. Not the first time this has happened, and to knock off a few quid is not the answer when you come out and expect to have nice food.

Came in not knowing it was quiz night, it was very busy but the guy behind the bar managed to find us table. We was told it would be an hour for food but it came out faster and was worth the wait. Stayed for the quiz which was a great night, we will definitely come back.

Once again came to the rose and crown for some food and drinks. It was a busy evening and the food and service was once again phenomenal, was a bit of a wait but it was busy so was expected, all in all 10/10

Me and my girlfriend came in to celebrate our wedding anniversary The food was amazing I had the mixed grill and my wife had the haddock and chips the chefs on shift Jordan and Chris cooked the food to perfection. Garlic mushrooms my daughter's partner ordered were not breaded and looked unappetising. His mixed grill was overcooked. My pate and then seabass were both good. Evening spoilt by a crowd of 6 middle aged people at the next table who got louder and louder and constantly swore.(Not pub's fault I know). We couldn't hear ourselves speak. Judging by their conversation they were teachers.

I came into the pub on the 16th of June around 1:00pm for a spot of lunch with my friend and we could see as soon as we where seated that it was quite busy for a lunch time. I had the Hunters Chicken and my friend had the Carbonara and both where fantastic and we will be returning ! There was a young lady working who had brown hair, quite tall, around 19-22 years old and had a “222” tattoo on her arm, she was absolutely splendid! I could see she was working very hard and that she was busy. She served us our food and there wasn’t nothing she couldn’t do for us. She was so polite, very helpful and very kind. We had a small conversation about her shift and she was very chatty, asking us about our day and the weather. It made a nice change to usual waitresses/ waiters who don’t stop for a chat to make their guests feel welcome. She really made out experience better ! I wish I got her name !!!

Friday 21st May 2021 12:15pm Being of the service was okay when we had arrived, ordered our food but the sea bass was raw in some places and in other places been overdone which was shocking as I don’t think you’d take the food out of it was like that and the sea bass was like warm, my burger was lukewarm same with my chips it was as though they had done the seas bass first and had to wait for the burger to be done!! We had been put in the cold part of the restaurant and when other walk ins came they was instantly put in the back park on the left side when you walk in which I found weird and when we wanted to speak to a member of staff about the food they was no where to be found and we never got a table check on us! And with me being in this industry and it not being as busy, I would’ve expected a table check I would’ve understood if it was busy but it wasn’t that busy with 3 people on it would’ve been easy for them to go “have you checked on that table”.When this man and women came in I understand the man seemed to be getting stressed it doesn’t mean the women working with the black long curly hair which was tied back and the other women working with red in her hair to go up to the other women with the red hair and slag that man off with what he was like that is not respectable and I will not be returning because if that’s how you treat customers it’s shocking it wasn’t even quiet because I heard every word which was said and the other man who was drinking on his own would’ve heard the whole thing! I don’t appreciate you slagging off your customers I’m mortified by this yeah I understand what it’s like with some customers with me being in the industry but for it to said so loud it’s shocking so I would like you to have a word with the lady with the long black curly hair and make sure she understands it’s not appropriate what she had done!I will not be returning again considering I’ve always been the regularly I’m shocked in this!!

service polite and helpful. Sadly all downhill from there. Lasagne had no italian tomato based sauce but a rather disgusting gravy---------inedible. Took it away and brought me an equally disgusting katsu curry, which consisted of a flavourless sauce with 4 huge lumps of overbattered chicken. No-one came to check if we were OK with the food and we left disappointed and still hungry

Took my daughter for lunch I ordered posh fish fingers and chips my daughter had chicken wrap and chips ,we waited over 40 minutes for this simple meal ,what I find worrying apart from hard stale bread is the fact that I had chillies on my bread from my daughter's wrap and she had margarine on her plate from my sandwich ,at first I thought it was specks of blood on my bread which gladly it wasn't but I think there's a cross contamination issue here I hate chillies and the sauce good job I don't suffer with an allergy ,nut allergies beware I would not trust the people cooking or preparing my food ,needless to say I won't be dining there again

i have mixed reviews about this pub. the covid layout is good but in places its errm not good. Most of the staff are friendly and attentive but some of the staff you get the feeling they are only there to get a wage and the customer service goes out the window and ive noticed they dont wear face masks! throughout the 'eat out to help out' gov promo the pub was very busy and to try and book a table online was a nightmare! but even worse was to ring the pub up to try book a table that way (short notice) the phone would just ring out. After trying for over an hour calling the pub i found it 'quicker' to drive 6miles and go talk to the hostess book a table that way.. i had left a few messages on the answerphone but NO1 ever phoned back.. The food well ive only had one bad meal in there so far were the food had come out over cooked and luke warm, but the other meals have been of high quality cooked to perfection and very hot!! but that is down to the new Lady chef (sorry i dont know ur name) on one day myself and a friend had to sit outside because the pub was full, then it started to rain and one young lady managed to get us in side for our main course and she went above and beyond her duty to make sure we had our food indoors and served very hot! she's a little gem!! she's always smiling, polite, and NOTHING is to much trouble..

Just had a lovely meal here. Staff very friendly and helpful. Meal was lovely didn’t have to wait to long which was great. Wasn’t very busy but was only 5:00 so suited us great. I would recommend, and would definitely be coming back soon.
