The Rose and Crown in North East Lincolnshire

I'm a regular customer and this is not the first time I've experienced the grumpy and rude bar staff at the Rose and Crown. It seems that, for some reason, 'please' and 'thank you' are no longer offered by the bar staff. I was served three times by a young woman (during the evening of 05/09/24) and she did not offer even the basic of good manners. To say she was surly and completely without customer service skills would be an understatement. I don't expect stimulating conversation but I do expect civility but it was clearly lacking. Just in case it was me (you never know!) I listened when she served other customers and they also did not receive the customary please and/or thank you. Very poor, to me, and unacceptable.

The food was DIABOLICAL. The service was 5/10 the cleanliness was 6/10 table was sticky and the table was uneven. You need more staff on a busy Saturday. Nobody enquired as to "Is everything okay" as everything was not okay. I ordered the Shepherds Pie with greens. If you are serving Greens the need to be cooked first not heated. The Pie was hot but was sweet and tasted more like Mutton or Goat than young lamb. I sent it back and took a refund and left.

Had a lovely meal on Sunday.my husband had the classic burger and I had the ultimate burger it all came piping hot and was delicious. As always the staff were attentive and polite.looking forward to our next visit.

We chose this venue to host our wedding reception on 31st August. We were not disappointed. The staff have been amazing both during the build up to our big day and were ultra attentive on the afternoon/evening. One side of the venue was closed off for us. We organised a DJ and singer and this was accommodated with ease by the venue. We catered for 60+ guests by way of a buffet and every single guest commented on how great the food was. It's a clean welcoming site and we were blessed with the sunshine on the day so made great use of their ample external seating area. We cannot thank the Rose and Crown team enough for helping us celebrate our day and making the day smooth, problem free and extremely memorable. I would have no hesitation in recommending this site whether it be for a party, a meal or just a drink. 5* all the way. Thank you.

Had a lovely meal tonight. Great service as always from Nathan and Violet. Always a warm welcome and great atmosphere. Lucky to have such a great venue on our doorstep.

Food was absolutely spot on, Cheryl was our waitress for the night and was so polite and checked to see if everything was okay. Jordan was the chef, as I asked because I wanted to pay compliment to him. Gorgeous, 11 out of ten

Great visit to the rose & crown. Came a long way from home so couldn’t wait to get a bite to eat. I had the chicken and leek pie and my friend had chicken tikka masala. Both dishes were amazing - compliments to the chef Keith for making the dishes and making our visit worth while. Staff were friendly and the place had a good atmosphere to it. Will return again :)

5 star service from Josh, he was attentive, efficient and went the extra mile. He is a credit to the rose . Food was pretty good.

I had a Sunday lunch delivered today. It was terrible, the gammon was obviously sliced and left to go dry, the Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes were like leather, the stuffing and cabbage was raw. The meal was almost cold and totally inedible. I can only assume it had been microwaved for too long, I don’t know any other way you can make Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes so tough. Never again!

Good service. The new menu sounds nice and is varied. It was a Friday night so I chose to have the curry deal. My tandoori chicken starter was barely there, with its 3 tiny pieces of chicken. However, it was delicious! Great, so looking forward to what they could do with a lamb jalfrezi. Unfortunately, not much. The lamb was none existent and the sauce was far too thin and runny. No, it is not a curry house but the food should still be of a high standard. A real let down on the mains as my friend’s Gobi dhansak was much the same.

6 of us had a lovely meal here today. We all had set menu and the choice was great. Service was fantastic Jordan and sheryl hope that's spelt right were friendly and welcoming. Portions were plentiful and after 3 courses we were so full. The pub was quite busy but not noisy. For a relaxing ,reasonable lunch would definitely recommend 👌

I had haddock, chips and mushy peas. The fish was nice for frozen fare,but the chips were cheap, frozen products. Most of our party left some. However. The pub was pleasant and the staff were lovely. For the price, you can do much better locally. A poor do to be given frozen fish in Grimsby, where the fish comes from.

We would have to travel a long way to find meals as bad as the ones we had ! My spinach and lentil pie had a bit of flavour but the pastry was soggy, my husband ordered a medium rare steak but he only got the rare part of it ! Other members of the family had a mixture of meals between them and none of them were good. Was really looking forward to a small family gathering but it was a big rip off. Called at the shop on the way home to buy us all a lovely cake and cream for pudding to finish the meal off at mine along with our own wine served with a smile

Myself and my partner visit the Rose and Crown quite often, and every time we are greeted with a warm welcome by all the attentive staff. The bar team know our usual round of drinks and will always have a quick friendly chat with us when we order. We have never had a poor experience with the food, it is usually always delivered in good time, served piping hot, and well presented. An added bonus is that the pub is now dog-friendly and we can take our pooch with us, who also gets a lovely greeting from the staff! The team are all great, but praise has to go in particular to Rob, Alex and Adele. Keep up the good work guys!

Went for a girly catch up. Food was really bad. The fishcake was really hard and not nice at all. I had crispy prawn ciabatta. It was very poor value for money. 3 prawns and a liitle salad on the side . I paid extra for the chips so it was £7.99. Although the 3 prawns were tasty not value for money at all. I went home hungry . We were all very disappointed and will not be going again.

Ordered food weeks in advance but were told half of it wasn't available when we got there. No turkey on the Christmas menu!! Slow service. Disgruntled staff. Never again. I wonder why the Jug and Bottle get so much trade!

Went in for brunch. Affordable and delicious food with a great range and lovely family friendly vibes.

Delicious, wholesome burger with chips and salad garnish. Enjoyed a lovely salted caramel crumble with custard. Food was delicious and atmosphere was great. Very happy with the customer service. Went with my club for 1st year anniversary.

This is the 3rd time in recent weeks we have visited as a family and each time has been excellent lovely food lovely staff and toilets are spotless. We will for sure be back again

I’m writing this on behalf of my son, He visited due to the locality of the place, he ordered mixed grill with steak and peppercorn sauce. Med /rare was how he liked it cooked , but it came out still alive. I don’t know what’s happening with this place, but when I’ve ordered steak in the past it’s either not cooked correctly or tough. Plus it’s a bit hard to re cook when sauce is on the steak. R&C need to get there food in order , otherwise locals won’t come back. It’s a good pub but food is letting them down. Not the first time this has happened, and to knock off a few quid is not the answer when you come out and expect to have nice food.

Once again came to the rose and crown for some food and drinks. It was a busy evening and the food and service was once again phenomenal, was a bit of a wait but it was busy so was expected, all in all 10/10

Me and my girlfriend came in to celebrate our wedding anniversary The food was amazing I had the mixed grill and my wife had the haddock and chips the chefs on shift Jordan and Chris cooked the food to perfection. Came in not knowing it was quiz night, it was very busy but the guy behind the bar managed to find us table. We was told it would be an hour for food but it came out faster and was worth the wait. Stayed for the quiz which was a great night, we will definitely come back.
