The Rose in Wokingham

Been here a few times for both lunch and dinner, and it’s always spot on! Great service, delicious food and lovely atmosphere.

We went to the Rose for a late Sunday lunch / early dinner Absolutely couldn’t fault the wonderful service, fabulous food & lovely ambiance We were so well looked after by Michael & William What a credit to the Rose they are Their enthusiasm & professionalism was apparent to see There was a lovely elderly couple on the table next to us & was heartwarming to see the attentive genuine care they took with this couple who had additional health needs Bravo to them both for going above & beyond to take the time to look after their customers so amazingly well Will definitely be returning

I visited on a bank holiday with my daughter who is disabled and a wheelchair user. There was a town May Fayre on at the time so it was a very busy time. I need to sit side by side with my daughter to help her as she is tube fed. Normally we're stuck in some corner but the manager put us right in the middle of the restaurant on a table for four. For a restaurant to be so loud and proud of us is very rare. Throughout the meal we were asked constantly if we needed anything and were made to feel like valued guests. I'm so grateful for this. Oh, and the food was delicious too!

Spent Sunday afternoon here and had a great time. All the staff are so friendly and the pub has a great lay out. Had an amazing roast dinner and some drinks indoors and then sat in the lovely peaceful garden for a few more drinks. Will def be back again soon

Great establishment for a great night out. Atmosphere is spot on, choice and quality of food and drinks is fantastic. To top it off the staff are friendly , welcoming and knowledgeable. Will definitely become a regular visitor.

We had a lovely evening out. The service we received was excellent. Summer was a friendly, cheerful waitress with lots of charisma. The chorizo scotch egg starter was excellent!

Tasty warm food on a cold but sunny day. The conservatory area was comfortable with a few other diners on a weekday afternoon. Recommending the Shashuka and fish fingers wrap . Beata , our waitress was attentive, and the other staff smiley too. A very pleasant experience.

We were an adult family group and booked for dinner. We chose across the menu from rump steak, lamb on plat du jour and a pizza. Good beers and wine. One dish and veg were only lukewarm so a complaint was made to waiting staff. Quickly rectified and newly plated by kitchen. Service throughout was excellent and attentive despite its being a very busy Friday night service. Manager acknowledged our concern about dish lapse. A lot of romantic couples dining as well as small groups. This former pub was only totally renovated in 2021, tastefully retaining all the old features. We took a canine friend who was allowed in front of bar alone or garden so you are not imposing. Food was above average and pizza was genuine from specialist oven. We would recommend this venue and look forward to a return visit.

A lovely evening. Excellent staff with no wait for good quality food. A special shout out to Tom our waiter who was efficient and attentive. All the staff were great.

I went here with my wife to celebrate my birthday and I was not disappointed. The starters of pork harissa meatballs and Lebanese fries were delicious, and were followed by what I consider the best fish and chips I have ever had - my partner felt the same. The portion was generous and suited my huge appetite - they do offer a small version as well for a cheaper price. I have honestly never had better fish and chips in the 57 years I have walked this planet. This was close to perfection. Even the minty mushy peas were delicious and not runny. Overall the quality of the food was excellent and perfectly cooked. Unfortunately the experience was ruined by the 'discretionary' service charge being added to the bill, really annoying given that the prices are already premium for a gastropub. We did pay the charge, given that the service was good, but I was annoyed that they added a charge that was supposed to be discretionary as a way of bullying customers to pay it! I think next time I'll ask for it to be removed and I'll leave a tip in cash. Shame - apart from that it was a great experience.

It’s always guaranteed to be an excellent occasion at The Rose. The staff are very attentive and go the extra mile to ensure they provide the best possible service and experience. The food choices are great but coupled with the outstanding service it’s a place we keep coming back to. Special thanks to Summer who went out of her way to make our evening special. As per normal a great meal with a great atmosphere, enhanced by the attentive Summer who catered for all our needs on the evening. Keep up the great work.

Best place in Wokingham for coffee or drinks. Dog-friendly. Restaurant also great. The manager Will really is outstanding.

First time at the Rose Inn today for Sunday lunch which was delicious. We were served by a young man named Lewis who was very pleasant and attentive to detail. Would recommend and will be back 😁

Lovely lunch with excellent tasty roast beef and chicken. However, the chicken was half a chicken and it was huge, the portion was too large and the person who had this dish found it difficult to eat it all. Also noticed another guest struggling with the amount of food on their plate. Portions need to be looked at as such a waste, but we asked for a doggie bag, so the dog enjoyed its dinner last night.

We were here for a nice dinner. Lovely atmosphere, great service by Summer who treated us like vip's. Prices for some salads are a little high.

I often go here for evening drinks and always receive excellent service and delicious mojitos. Today , I went for Sunday lunch in the main restaurant area, and it was so fantastic, I felt compelled to write a review. The food was absolutely delicious. Beyond a doubt, the best fish I've ever eaten. The excellent Summer was our waitress and I was extremely impressed with her attitude and attentiveness. She really went the extra mile for us . If I win the lottery , I will be hiring Summer as my PA !!! Very confident in recommending The Rose to anyone .

I’ve been to the Rose Inn many times now, both for dinner and drinks. I’ve always had a great experience there. The bar staff are knowledgeable and social. The restaurant staff are polite and diligent. The chefs have always provided myself, family and friends with wonderful food. Me and my family were served by Lewis and James today, both kept to the high standards I have come accustomed to at this establishment. I will always recommend the Rose Inn to anyone fancying a warm, relaxing and friendly atmosphere in which to enjoy a great selection of both food and drink.

THE WORST dining experience ever! We came here for our anniversary celebration meal which we let them know. We got starters which came out after 55 minutes of being there. My main course was a burger without relish/pickle but with onion. It came out with everything in it so they didn’t read the ticket properly. They brought it out a second time and It was clear the burger was not re made (also still missing onion) and they just replaced the bread. I opened the burger and it showed the burger and bacon was completely black and charcoal. It was all I could taste. I let the waitress know and she said it would be another 15 minutes for a new burger (I had nearly been in the restaurant and hour and a half at this point). I eventually say to forget the burger. I decided to order dessert. A simple cookie dough with sauce, but I asked for the sauce on the side. The waiter then lets me know they has ignored the request and sauce is all over. I eventually say to forget that too. A HUGELY DISAPPOINTING meal. Poor service, disgusting food and awful customer service:
