The Roman Urn in Broxbourne

Can only give the food a three as there was a long blonde hair in the middle of my chicken skewer...... Waitress was very apologetic. Was offered a drink as compensation which I declined as I had a full glass.... waitress assured me it wasn't hers as her hair was tied back but the chef thought it was the girl who prepped the chicken earlier in the day 🤢. Put a bit of a dampener on the Christmas meal I was having with friends to the extent one left as she couldn't eat having seen the hair.

I went to Goffs Oak a few weeks before Christmas with a group of friends for a Christmas meal, expecting a festive experience. Unfortunately, it was quite disappointing. We were given the Christmas menu upon arrival and ordered drinks while deciding on our meals amd waiting on friends. However, when we were ready to order, we were then told they had run out of turkey – the main dish associated with a Christmas meal. The pub wasn’t even busy, so it’s baffling how they were out of such a key item. We were surprised and initially thought it was a joke but it wasn't. They could have given us this info as they handed out the menu to set expectations. Then, when we received the bill, a service charge was included, despite the service being lacklustre at best. When I raised my disappointment about the experience with the staff taking the payment, their response was indifferent. They offered a half-hearted “sorry” that clearly lacked sincerity. Staff arent proactive with their service. It's a pub with potential but sadly it was an underwhelming experience. I wouldn’t recommend it for a festive meal.

The manager went above and beyond. Food was excellent standard 👌 highly recommend 5 star 🌟

Had a genuinely lovely fishcake!! And perfectly cooked tasty chips! In a sturdy paper bag! .. which worked surprisingly well for eating on the go.
