5 of us and a dog went for lunch today. Staff very pleasant. My egg was overcooked and I returned it. New one produced and a hot meal with no hesitation. Always very clean. Nice place to gather for drinks or meals

The Goffs Oak pub is always our place locally to go to. Nowhere else competes. My partner and I always say how consistent the overall experience is here. Food is delicious. Service is friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Which is what you want when you go out for dinner. Thank you to Ella and Daisy for their service tonight (Fri 28th Feb). They were both amazing, very professional, and helpful. My partner had a very happy birthday dinner. Needless to say, we'll be back.

Slow service Drinks had to ask for them Food was good for adults poor for kids Had to ask for more drinks Table didn’t get cleared after 30 minute wait. Had to go to the bar and ask to pay the bill. Like we were stuck in the corner and forgotten about. Not the same experience I remember.

A nice Saturday lunch, with the valentines menu. The chef made did a marvellous job with the ribeye steaks and excellent service by Cara and Mitch

Valentines meal, ordered ribeye steak," 30 days aged and juicy ". I'm really sorry to say it was awful, I spat out more bits than I swallowed, it was tough, tasteless and I sent it back. Chef apologised via the waitress. Either a really poor cooking process or not 30 days aged. I can honestly say that a supermarket steak pan fried is far more tender and tasty. Service was so so, good staff, however quite a bit of time between ordering anything to it arriving on your table. They did offer a discount, however I would have preferred the meal to have lived up to expectations and paid full price, after all it was a valentines treat! Won't be eating there again in a hurry.

Was here for Valentine’s Day. Menu looked good but came with misleading information regarding the chateaubriand which we got over and ordered correctly. However everything was very long winded and not much attention to detail with the service was the issue. Starters came out all separately which all were the same (sticky chicken). We then found that all our mains (chateaubriand as sharing platters) came to the table but none of the cutlery or plates were ready for its arrival. For the desserts not all came together and again no cutlery to eat this course with. The wait between courses was 40 minutes and at no point were we courtesy checked to see how the food was for us. The duty manager Mitch tended to us initially, but when we made our issues known we were told he had finished and gone home. From our point of view it appeared that there was no real leadership on the night, lots of young people following each other about and not really getting anything done. Didn’t seem like any structure to it at all. However the food was very nice. We use the Goffs quite a bit and this is the first negative visit that I have encountered.

I booked a funeral wake for around 25 people and agreed all the timings and arrangements in advance. On arrival the wine requested was not on the table and also the wine table was tucked so far away that no one saw it. The teas and coffees ordered were not supplied - we were told to order at the bar but this wasn’t what I’d ordered. The food came out late and was bland and low quality. The rolls were all a cheap white bread with indistinguishable yellow fillings. The dessert was so late coming out that I cancelled most of it. Again it only arrived once I asked for it. The service was patchy - I had to ask for the wine I’d ordered, I had to ask for more glasses and more plates. No member of staff welcomed guests at the start (we arrived last) and told them about the wine or the teas and coffees. I realise you had another wake at the same time - but that was you problem not mine. Overall a poor, disappointing experience. £600+ not well spent.

The food was delicious, and the service was spot on, especially our lovely waitress Maddy she was helpful, friendly and polite which made our first experience here great. We shall definitely be back

My husband and I popped in for a bite to eat quite early in the day. We were warmly welcomed by Hannah and shown to our table. Hannah was friendly and helpful, she also had a good sense of humour. Our drinks arrived quickly and the food was tasty too. Hannah was really attentive and made our lunch experience a positive one. Thanks and we will return again soon. 5 Star!

Always good quality and great service, first time Sunday lunch

I went to Goffs Oak a few weeks before Christmas with a group of friends for a Christmas meal, expecting a festive experience. Unfortunately, it was quite disappointing. We were given the Christmas menu upon arrival and ordered drinks while deciding on our meals amd waiting on friends. However, when we were ready to order, we were then told they had run out of turkey – the main dish associated with a Christmas meal. The pub wasn’t even busy, so it’s baffling how they were out of such a key item. We were surprised and initially thought it was a joke but it wasn't. They could have given us this info as they handed out the menu to set expectations. Then, when we received the bill, a service charge was included, despite the service being lacklustre at best. When I raised my disappointment about the experience with the staff taking the payment, their response was indifferent. They offered a half-hearted “sorry” that clearly lacked sincerity. Staff arent proactive with their service. It's a pub with potential but sadly it was an underwhelming experience. I wouldn’t recommend it for a festive meal.

Christmas eve meal was mixed experience with our 10 meals. Some were cold, one was over cooked and dry, others were fine. However, staff did try to accommodate.

I understand that Christmas Day can be a busy and challenging time for restaurants, but sadly, our experience at The Goffs Oak was extremely disappointing and far below what we expected for £100 per person (plus an additional £70 in service charges). From the outset, the service was rushed, inattentive, and unfriendly. Cutlery was unceremoniously dumped on the table, and no one bothered to check how our meal was at any point during or after service. When I asked to change my pre-ordered dessert, I was told there were no alternatives, despite six other desserts clearly being available. The food itself was another letdown. The scallops in the starter were raw and jelly-like, and the Brussels sprouts on the roast were raw rather than al dente. Speaking of the roast, the portion of vegetables was miserably small, and there was hardly any gravy to go with the oversized, under-crispy roast potatoes. Even when we requested more gravy, we were given an insufficient amount. Perhaps the most shocking aspect was the children’s meals. For £50 per child, they were served tiny portions with no vegetables at all – an oversight that’s unacceptable at any price point, let alone on Christmas Day. While I appreciate the staff were working on a holiday, they weren’t volunteering their time, and for the premium we paid, I expected a far higher standard of food and service. To add insult to injury, because payment was taken in advance, I felt trapped into accepting the poor experience without recourse. Had this not been the case, I would not have paid the full amount. Overall, The Goffs Oak has much to learn about providing a festive meal worthy of its price tag. It’s disappointing to feel let down on a day that’s supposed to be special, and I won’t be returning anytime soon.

Lovely pub and friendly staff been a few times for drinks and it's a lovely atmosphere here. I recommend. It's a cosy comfort feel.

I've had many meals and drinks here but today was a bit disappointing. I wasn't happy with the presentation of my drink and our starters came out at different times which could be down to the fact that there appeared to be skeleton staff working.

Great pub serving great food at a reasonable price. Staff are lovely, highly recommend. Imagen Arlane served us and was very pleasant and attended to our needs swiftly and politely. Thank you.

Great local pub. Beer is good. Service is wonderful. Not sure the food is priced for what it is but we enjoyed our, time there.

Today was our first time there and unfortunately it didn't live up to the expectations I know it's Xmas season and we didn't have a reservation, but if you can't deliver, it's best to say no, we are full. Waited over half hour to get our started and then another good 40mins for a cheeseburger and a linguine, which there were hardly any crab meat ( you needed a microscope to see a couple of strains and about 3 prawns, I wouldn't call them Kind Prawns either. As soon our meal was served I asked for some parmesan cheese and the manager got back - how hard is it to go to the kitchen and get some? Half hour later we pay the bill and left, desert was never offered and payment taken and off we went This pub has so much potential but definitely lacks attention and service could definitely improve. Would I go back - sure! I'd like to give it another go, it does look like a nice pub.

Lovely food and friendly service

Food tasted ok, but not worth the price and there wasn't enough on the plate to either satisfy hunger or justify the price. I was still hungry after the meal. Waiter was nice but the service was slow. 3 hours for 2 courses is too long for me. Also, they don't allow 16/17 year-olds to have a drink with their meal. I'm not really comfortable with a business deciding they don't agree with the law and doing something else instead. Atmosphere was ok at first, but after about an hour a group of people arrived who thought a sentence wasn't complete unless it had at least three expletives. Didn't seem to bother them that there were several young children at the table next to them. Not a great experience to be honest.

Came here for food today with some friends and i couldn’t of been happier with the food, service and atmosphere. I was served by Sophia and she was very polite and attentive. Would fully recommend and will definitely be coming back soon.

Had dinner here last night, whilst the food was excellent the service was dreadful. We seem to be served by trainees who were probably on their first day in the restaurant. Long waits between courses, plates not cleared or any offer of replenishing our drinks we would have spent more on drinks but nobody seemed interested. When main courses finally arrived no offer of sauces, again empty glasses no offer of drinks. They need to get their act together or they will loose lots of customers.

The Sunday Roasts were excellent. The service was very friendly, but we waited 45 minutes for the food to come out.

A most enjoyable evening. The greeting on arrival was great. We had booked the Wine and Dine experience. But had to ask for the menu After receiving the starters in a reasonable time we had to wait over 45 minutes for our main meal.When asking the waitress if it would be much longer , we was told well you can see we are busy. I do wonder why that is a relevant answer. A little leadership on the floor would be a quick fix as I noticed 2 people having to leave their seats to find a waitress to ask for small items. As with a lot of restaurants the staff seem to have a place they feel safe in and can chat.

Ella was amazing and the food was lovely! We had 2 starters, 2 mains and 2 desserts as well as cocktails and soft drinks; the staff was very accommodating to any requestswe had, everything from the beggin and sitting us to asking if the food tasted good was on level, then we got the chocolate orange martini which was very delicious! The chocolate bomb is on top and absolutely the best dessert here, Ella also told us that most of their food comes in fresh which is absolutely amazing! It is not our first time here and we will definitely be back. The food waiting times were not long and the atmosphere was lovely, as well as a car park.

Just been for a meal with friends, it was lovely food, I had the dirty burger, it was very tasty, also had a side of halloumi fries and onion rings. We were served by Louise behind the bar, poured a perfect larger shandy and a smashing passion fruit cocktail, she was friendly and chatty, Imi served us food at the table, lovely young lady. Overall a fantastic evening, we will be coming back. Thank you 😀

My husband and I had a lovely meal on the evening of Tuesday 20th August at the Goffs Oak in Cheshunt. We have eaten here many times before and always find the atmosphere and service very good. The staff are very friendly and attentive. I would like to say a big thank you to Hannah and Louise for their excellent service.

Went for a lunchtime meal with my wife and two friends last Thursday 8th Aug. At the end we all agreed that it was the best pub meal we had by far. Between us we had three different starters. The goats cheese and beetroot (2) was to die for. The whole prawns (1) made me wish I had had both. And the haloumi fries. All the mains and deserts were delicious. Mitch and Louise who served us were wonderful. Can't wait to go back.

First visit for a long time. Food was dreadful. Complained and all I got was 'We'll speak to the Chef'. Chef, that's a joke!

I have had some really good food here in the last few months. Yesterday, Monday5th August I was disappointed. The seabass fillets were overcooked and a bit dry. The mini lemon tart tasted ok but looked less than fresh.

Visited at lunchtime with two friends. We all had different options & drinks. Each meal was great ( have experienced the same menu in another pub -presumably a chain with much poorer results). Pleasant decor & excellent staff. Would benefit from more parking.

Very sad review I’m having to make ,I have been going to this pub for a long time with my partner and I believe that recently they have a new manager on the floor in charge , to me and my husbands disgust the way he spoke to and belittled the servers was appalling and very sad ! We’ve come familiar with the servers over the years and to see them being spoken to and belittled is rather disappointing, we believe this new manager to be named Lewis , how unfortunate for the staff to be spoken to in this way in front of customers- he is clearly in the wrong role and made our party very uncomfortable !!

Absolutely love this place. Very welcoming, foods unreal (best in the area), staff are lovely, and prices are extremely good. Highly recommend popping in and enjoying (as micky Flanagan says) a lovely ambience!

Had a nice meal here, the service was quite slow and they were out of some of the food or side dishes which accompanied the mains. I will have to come back to try the lamb as this wasn't available at the time of my visit. Staff were lovely however and would happily come back. I loved the aspall on tap - was delicious! The steak and Merlot pie was scrummy too! Good vibes for families, friends catching up or just if you want to come get some yummy food solo!
