Had a lovely Sunday roast lunch date at The Roebuck. I opted for the chicken roast dinner and my date opted for the roast beef and we were both satisfied. Lovely roast potatoes, kale, other veggies, Yorkshire pudding and a good lashing of gravy. We were given stellar service by Wonu who checked in on us with lots of smiles and warmth. He had on a cool owl shirt and he was very receptive to my chatting. I found out we went to the same school and lived in the same home state! I hope this review gets to him so he knows he warmed up someone’s day even further. Definitely would recommend as a date spot. Cosy, lovely big windows in the back and solid food.

Cosy boozer but they're not ready to serve food to large audiences yet. We paid 50 a head for the Christmas set menu. Starters were a joke, the main was a 5kg prime rib that we were expected to carve ourselves with just a short non serrated knife. The beef was blue in the middle so we cut off 3 of the ribs to go back to be cooked like steaks. The quality of the beef was good, just terrible execution. The potatoes were oily and waxy, no crunch no fluff. All the veg lacked anything apart from the brussel sprouts who in my opinion stole the show (says a lot about the meal). And finally the dessert... They would have done better with tescos finest pierce the film microwave for 1 minute job with powdered custard. I'd go back to booze but not to scran.

Provided entertainment for a wedding here in the upstairs room. I understand it's a busy pub in the middle of London and staff doing their best, but they were quite abrupt and stressed out throughout the evening. It's a lovely venue with a good selection of beers but no Guinness. Small plates were ok and good veggie sausage rolls. Outdoor seating probably nice in the summer but you have to be inside by a certain time due to housing nearby, fair enough. Getting some acoustic tiles would help with the very noisy environment.

I live locally and want nothing more than to support local businesses. I have eaten at least ten times in here beforeand shouted about it to my friends who.i brang along today. Today my meat was a lump of grissle and my potatoes rock hard. I sent my dinner back and when they actually remembered I did so I received a lump of meat that was over cooked and potatoes that had been cut in half and microwaved. I didn't bother asking for a third meal. For what they charge they want to be ashamed. If you are vegetarian I must admit the parsnips were lovely but I am not a vegetarian. Very disappointed with having my afternoon ruined. Thanks Roebuck

Super relaxed atmosphere, large selection of beer, ordering via online system very easy to use and pay. The beer was there after 2 minutes at the latest. Compared to Germany, prices are certainly higher, but probably quite normal in regional comparison. There was no eating.

This is a late review, having attended the pub in April. The Roebuck is an old pub that has renovated its image throughout the years. At present, it caters for a youngish, professional clientele. A large selection of beers and spirits is de rigeur, with painting on the wall for sale and modernist music loud but not overbearing. The decor is traditional and the toilets, for a pub, not too dirty. The staff is friendly, albeit quite busy. The menu is reasonably varied, with a good choice of starters and some vegan choices, unfortunately not in the desserts' selection. We had the "Crispy Polenta Croquettes, Wholegrain Mustard Mayonnaise", a surprisingly testy appetizer and the Moving Mountains Vegan Burger, Chips. The burgers were decent, but the chips and the humongous onion rings were nearly burned and scarcely edible. All in all, a decent place to spend an evening in a proper English pub.

Brilliant traditional London pub. Was buzzing when we arrived on a Saturday afternoon to meet a group of fellow marathon runners running for the same charity as my husband and I. Bar was heaving but the bar team had it under control with very efficient service. Ordered some sharing plate of food for the two of us which were tasty. Chips and Mac & cheese were yum. Vegan sausage roll not so great. No complaints other than the toilets need some attention as is often the case in these sorts of pubs.

Food was average. Pork was dry. Service was rubbish. Waitress spilt gravy down my friend’s back. Went for Sunday lunch and was a little underwhelmed. Too many people, upstairs it was impossible to breathe. The food was okay but wouldn’t rate it more than 3 stars. The Yorkshire puddings were frozen too. Staff were super friendly but it was clear they needed help to serve and clean up. Our empty plates didn’t get taken away until 30 mins after we finished eating. Good local choice but better in summer when you can sit outside and not depend on the service that much.

Went to the weekly Tuesday quiz (having been once before and enjoyed an off-centre quiz format and in fact come close to winning). However there is no information WHATSOEVER on the Roebuck website of when the quiz starts - though on their fb page (dated july 2020) it says 8.00pm. You have to look it up on a dedicated quizzer website to find it also says it starts at 8 pm... As I've given this a one-star revue you can guess that this was in fact entirely inaccurate. We arrived at @ 7.45 to find the quiz had already started - we were told by a friendly table that it started at 7.30. So we approached the quiz organiser who grumpily said it started at 7 and they weren't going to read out all the questions again just for us. We didn't expect them to do that - we just thought it would be fun to carry on with the quiz as it went on even with no chance of winning - willing to pay the £2 just to take part in a part of it. They charmlessly demurred. We bought drinks and sat listening to the quizmaster read out the remaining questions clearly loving the spotlight but doing nothing to merit it. When the answers came we discovered that the questions we had missed amounted to just three... We had thought of coming to the Thursday night gay quiz but assuming the graceless quiz host and the muddy sound system will be the same we'll skip that thanks.
