Stopped for lunch after visit to Chesters Roman Fort. Nice and busy wth a mix of locals and tourists, both made welcome. Excellent choice of quiches and cakes with the soup choice also tempting. Plumped for the sausage & caramelised onion quiche served warm with salad leaves, crisps, home made coleslaw and pickle. Generous helping and very tasty, thoroughly enjoyed it washed down with Northumberland tea. Only disappointment for me was having no room for a cake! (Ah well next time we visit Hadrian's Wall......) Well worth calling in if you are in the area.

We came across this jewel while walking Hadrian's Wall Path after spending the night in Corbridge. I wasn't real hungry but some of the group wanted to take a break, so I decided to go inside too. What a treat!!! I determined I need one of their pies and was so happy I did! Others in our group had a slice of cake, scone, and sandwich. Throughout the rest of our trip we kept comparing all of our stops to The Riverside Kitchen but all other's came up short!

Popped in on the way to an appointment in Hexham. Love the refurbishment, excellent service. A very pleasant place for '...people what do lunch.' There was a mix of stay n chat to the 'us': a bite to eat on the way. I liked the atmosphere.

Lovely aroma as you walk in and a friendly greeting as if we were old friends. We were only in need of a snack but decided to have soup and a bread roll which melted in the mouth. My partner had a lovely salad which she really enjoyed. We dined at the George Hotel across the road otherwise we would have eaten much larger portions. Definitely will be back next time we stay at the George.

So much has changed since our last visit...not only the name! On asking we learned that the place is now under completely new management...hence the beautiful refurbishment and the delicious smell of home baking as you walk in. There’s a selection of freshly baked bread to choose from when ordering your lunch, our boys were both treated like kings with their ‘picnic boxes’ (which come with a mask and crayons!!) I had the ‘spicy melt’ which was absolutely delicious on sun-dried tomato bread, which was served with dressed leaves, homemade coleslaw, crisps and chutney. My partner had one of the huge selection of pies from the counter (ham & leek), which was a hit too! We followed this with a cup of coffee and a slice of Malteser traybake...mmm! I’d highly recommend, ohhhh and the basket of scones looked amazing too!!! Will definitely be back!

Where once you could comfortably sit in this tea room and look forward to an excellent meal, now unfortunately because of the refurbishment you are crammed in like "Sardines". The tables are bigger and more of them and the number of seats has increased so much there is not much room to move about. There is even more seating under the windows and around the walls.

The new name is The Riverside Kitchen. The recently re-vamped cafe now provides a comfortable location for enjoying the excellent food offered in menu that will meet most tastes. Whether you just want a coffee and a home-made teacake or a more substantial snack this is the place to rest awhile. The aroma of fresh baking tickles the taste buds as you enter and the food will not disappoint. Finding a parking space may be challenging at busy times but please don't drive into the North Tyne! Canine and child friendly.

Not been before , but had heard good reports, managed to park and piped in. Very nice inside, sat at the table by the door which made it but chilly each time the door opened , but my hubbie kept his coat on !!! We ordered two sandwiches a prawn one and a ham one, they came with salad and coleslaw, and chrisps, lovely , my daughter had a hot cheese sandwich which she loved . Service was a little slow but they were freshly made with wonderful bread , we will definitely be back !

We headed out for our weekly meal out and were headed to a completely different tea room when I remembered the Riverside Kitchen had been recommended to me, so off we went. I'm so glad we did! Made to feel welcome in a light, bright country styled room, on the riverside of the north Tyne. A good variety of sandwiches, quiches, pies, soup, today's was minted pea, baked potatoes etc. We ordered prawn Marie rose and Coronation Chicken with apricots and sultanas, served with side salad, crisps, coleslaw and a little jar of shredded beetroot and sultanas, which delicious. I wish I'd taken a photo of the food as it was served beautifully and was so full of freshly prepared filling, I couldn't finish it. Another nice little touch is if you can't finish your meal they'll pop it into a tray so you can finish it at your leisure. Trudie, the new owner and the rest of the staff are very friendly and she has made a rundown cafe into a little gem. Spotless toilets and plenty of parking in a beautiful setting. We'll definitely be back.

We called in for a light lunch on Sunday. Every table was full except one , thank goodness! The menu consisted of sandwiches, melts, quiches, pies and baked potatoes with a variety of appetising fillings for each. A good selection of beverages hot and cold. All 4 of us had a different choice, each came with salad leaves, coleslaw, pickle and crisps. We couldn't fault anything! The selection of deserts was mouth watering but we were too full! The service was excellent. The young lady who served us informed us that they've only been open 3 weeks. I really hope they can make a massive success of this business as they truly deserve to!

Stopped off here during a ride-out from Edinburgh to Hadrian's Wall, with some biker friends. It was a pleasant break on what turned out to be a slightly chilly and grey day. Food - very nice - did take quite some time, although (understandably) they did seem a bit unexpectedly overrun by about 20 or so of us bikers looking for some sustenance. I fancied the soup of the day but, unfortunately, that had been finished by my biker friends before me in the queue. Coffee was okay, but it was brought out long before my food arrived and so had finished it before even starting to eat. Pleasant, friendly service. Good place to stop and eat. I do recommend it.

In my search for the great Jacket Potato, we visited the above establishment and enjoyed a lovely jacket potato and soup which I can highly recommend also. The J/Pot was accompanied by a crisp salad with a generous topping. I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone but especially to those doing Hadrian's Wall walk as it's on the route and about 24 miles from Wallsend. The staff are polite and friendly. 9 out of 10. One other tip, if you opt for the soup, get there early as it's very popular and goes quickly.

It's definitely popular, full of two wheelers and right next to the Roman fort/museum at Chesters. But I didn't feel it is a place to sit and spend some time. A little too clinical, food a little too ordinary, perhaps designed for guests to come, eat and leave rather than to loiter (both of the above groups were here to eat and leave) After our walk we went to the George Hotel, just across the roundabout (30meters away!) and enjoyed it much more.

Warkworth has a small nucleus of great places to eat, and we'd never tried Bertrams, so we went. It was a no brainer given the quality of other reviews. The only downside was that we had to get in and out early so were nearly the first people in hence little "atmosphere" but that was our agenda not the restaurant, and we were there for the food... ... which was first class. Superb hake served with a beautiful herby crab pate and dauphinoise potatoes. The flavours were immense and everything was cooked to perfection. You notice the difference with real quality and top chef standards and this delivered for me. The lemon meringue dessert was the proverbial icing on the metaphorical cake. Superb.
